A Movement Educator's Guide to Pregnancy and Childbirth
Cancer Is a Parasite, Not A Disease
THE BIGGEST LIE IN MEDICINEDoctors say cancer is a mistake. They say it happens when your cells go haywire. They say your body betrays you. They say it's all random. What if they're lying? What if cancer is not a mistake? What if cancer is a living parasite inside you? Something feeding on you. Something growing inside you, not by accident, but by design. You have been told cancer is genetic. That's bullshit. Cancer spreads like an infection. It moves through the blood, hijacks your body, and tricks your immune system into protecting it. It behaves like a parasite, because it is one.But you will never hear this from a doctor. Why? Because they make too much money treating cancer the wrong way.Chemo, radiation, and surgery are a trillion-dollar business. They cut, burn, and poison. But they never ask what cancer really is. They tell you it's inside you, so it must be your fault. Bad genes. Bad luck. Bad choices. That lie keeps the money flowing. They don't want you to know about parasites, bacteria, and hidden infections inside tumors. They don't want you asking why anti-parasitic drugs are wiping out cancer in some people. They don't want you looking at the research that got buried.Cancer is not your body turning against you. Cancer is something invading you. Something alive. And if you knew that, you would never trust their treatments again.

This reprint includes high-quality studies highlighting the complex antimicrobial potential of products derived from natural sources (NPs). The nine articles published in the Special Issue entitled "Antimicrobial Activity of Natural Products and Plants Extracts, 1st Edition" in the journal Antibiotics present scientific data regarding the ability of selected natural products (essential oils, gemmotherapy extracts, solvent extracts, isolated compounds) to inhibit relevant human and veterinary organisms (reference strains, multidrug resistant strains, ESKAPE Pathogens groups, etc.), as well as against bacterial and fungal strains specific to cereals. Interesting results on synergistic associations with antibiotics are reported as well. Furthermore, these studies offer insights into the NPs' chemical-profile-based standardization and multifaced biological properties-antioxidant, hepatoprotective, and cytotoxic-thus demonstrating the need for multidisciplinary studies.
Morphofunctional Nutritional Assessment in Clinical Practice
The diagnosis of malnutrition is difficult because it does not depend only on weight at a given time, but also on its evolution and the underlying pathological situations. Therefore, the clinical use of body composition measurements is essential for adequate assessment of this malnutrition, especially in the evaluation of muscle mass and function. In this context, nutritional assessment can no longer be based on the determination of classical anthropometric measurements. The concept of morphofunctional nutritional assessment postulates that the diagnosis and monitoring of nutritional status must be carried out using techniques and biomarkers that determine the evaluation of intake, anthropometry, body composition, muscle strength, and function that include techniques such as bioelectrical impedance analysis or nutritional ultrasound, and new biological parameters too. This Special Issue aims to show the implementation of this new concept of nutritional evaluation in the management of patients and in clinical research in nutrition.

Looking Within
"Compelling and insightful-I urge everyone, physicians and the public alike, to read this brilliant work." -James Borgstede MD, past president and chairman of the board of the American College of RadiologyA doctor's profound tales of diagnoses and discoveries made by medical imaging; and reflections on what we can learn about ourselves and life by looking within the human body. What would it really be like to have x-ray vision? Our bodies have endless stories and secrets to tell, and imaging is the great equalizer. When we look deep into ourselves from the vantage of this fundamental level, with exterior barriers and labels removed, we may see ourselves, other people, and our lives in a whole new light. In Looking Within, Cullen Ruff, MD collects over 30 stories of how diagnostic imaging impacted the lives of his patients and provided insight into the many complex stories that led these people to seek answers. Ruff highlights the wonder and mystery of the human body, literally and metaphorically looking inside of others. Each story describes a patient in whom a life-changing discovery is made: tumors, stroke, domestic violence, substance abuse, sterility, unexpected pregnancy, infection, surgical complications, evidence of criminal activity, mental illness, even impending death. Dr. Ruff's words, images, and insights help us see ourselves like never before.
Struck Down by the Gods
Black and White VersionThis book describes the different types of strokes; their cause, and the medical conditions often confused with stroke. Although primarily intended for the non-medical person who wants to know how to prevent stroke (and heart attacks), there is much that would be of benefit to all health care professionals. Atherosclerosis, the cause of virtually all heart attacks and a major cause of stroke, is the progressive accumulation throughout life of cholesterol beneath the inner lining of the hardened walls of our arteries. The book challenges the long-held belief that smoking, obesity, high cholesterol, diabetes, and high blood pressure are the cause of atherosclerosis. Although they make it worse, they cannot be the cause, simply because atherosclerosis occurs in the absence of these risk factors and based on irrefutable autopsy evidence, commences decades before these risk factors appear, in some of us before we are born. Many other reasons for challenging these beliefs are revealed. The book contains interesting historical facts on the evolution of knowledge throughout the centuries since ancient times, explains the difference between absolute and relative risk and benefit, and the real cause of atherosclerosis (hardening of arteries). It explains what we as individuals can do to prevent stroke (and heart attack). It discusses the risk factors that identify those of us who are at increased risk of suffering a stroke (and heart attack), in particular smoking and obesity (and the obesogenic environment we live in), that greatly increase the risk. It makes a plea to the regulatory authorities to alter the way industry funded research is conducted to provide greater certainty, in particular appointing independent data and safety monitoring committees and not allowing the industry to claim confidentiality over the study data. Finally, it makes a plea to publishers to have a clear statement on the front page stating that this study is/is not funded by industry, to ensure that all papers discuss relative (the benefit to society) and absolute (the benefit to us as an individual) risk increase and reduction, the numbers needed to treat and an economic analysis of the cost benefit. A controversial recommendation is that when a known treatment exists, any new treatment to be compared to that treatment and not to a placebo. The reasons behind these pleas are discussed in the book

Those living into their eighties and nineties will be common. Over the next ten years, it is possible that 30 percent of the population will be retired adults above the age of sixty-five.Increasing longevity and aging has its positives and negatives. It is desirable to see that people are living longer, but they also face an increasing number of healthcare and socioeconomic issues. It is a well-established fact that health-care costs increase toward the end of life.Geriatrics is a medical specialty of providing health care for the older adult. Their health-care needs differ from those of the younger population. This handbook addresses various medical problems as it relates to older patients. Prevention of health hazards and expression of compassionate care deserve as much attention as providing appropriate medical care. This handbook is ideal for: Medical professionals who render much of the current geriatric care in many parts of the world.-Physicians, physician assistants, nurses, allied professionals, and gerontologists.Students, interns, residents, fellowsAging adults.Caregivers and family members of aging adults Healthcare administratorsAwareness of aging adults' needs, palliative care, and end-of-life issues with their emotional, moral, and financial aspects are often ignored or forgotten in the busy life of a medical practitioner. Today, medical science focuses more on short-term fixes and immediate problem solving instead of treating the whole person. Hence, a considerable amount of a senior's care falls on the shoulders of nurses, aides, and on family members. The authors hope this handbook will illuminate the healthcare needs of our aging population.

A Brief History of Opium
The origin of humankind's relationship with the opium poppy is complex, and the further back in time we look, the more speculation we find filling in the gaps. This strange and mysterious plant has the power to inspire the imagination, as much in the study of its history, as when the Romantic Poets used its extracts to stimulate their imagination to write their poetry. From ancient civilisations to the present day, the opium poppy (Papaver Somniferum) has a fascinating history, from the dark symbolism of trance, sleep, dreams, and death in Greco-Roman mythology, to the search for ever stronger pain relief. Since its discovery as a powerful painkiller in ancient medical texts, to the battlefields of the American Civil War, 'God's Own Medicine' has been both a blessing and a curse. The growth of the opium trade has caused and funded wars. It has both relieved pain, and been the cause of pain and suffering. Its illicit use, addiction, and surrounding war and politics have plagued humankind to this day. There is no more effective painkiller than that which has its origins in this beautiful plant. There is also little in the way of medicine which carries with it such dangers of addiction, ruin, misery and death. Attempts by scientists to isolate and refine opium to safely regulate its dosage and reduce addiction, have unwittingly opened a Pandora's box of consequences which have gone on to shape the modern world. In ancient mythology, this opium giving plant could be seen as a gift from the gods. But like those cautionary tales revealing the flaws in human nature, such a gift comes at a great price. This book is a brief introduction to the history of opium from its earliest beginnings to modern times. Its chapters break this history down into periods of historical significance. Each chapter carries its own different themes and episodes in the overall story of civilisation, humankind, and its relationship with nature.
