The Flight Into Strategic Ambiguity
This book analyses how and why advertising, PR, and corporate and political communication make use of strategic ambiguity. This special quality of vagueness allows companies to talk about the relevance of ESG or governments to promise stability and prosperity without fully committing themselves, disappointing no one and securing every freedom. This book describes in detail the diverse practices of ambiguous strategic communication - and its opposite, strategic clarity - with many examples. For academics, it offers a detailed framework for describing and researching strategic ambiguity. For PR practitioners, it provides a toolbox for the use of strategic ambiguity. Lastly, it provides journalists with a means of recognizing and criticizing questionable strategic ambiguity. This book is a translation of the original German edition "Die Flucht in die Ambiguit瓣t". The translation was done with the help of an artificial intelligence machine translation tool. A subsequent human revision was done primarily in terms of content, so that the book will read stylistically differently from a conventional translation.

You're Not Broke, You're Broken
Watching your mother split a hamburger in two to feed you and your baby sister changes you. It creates a mindset where money isn't about wealth but survival. And when survival is your only frame of reference, financial freedom seems impossible. But here's the truth: how you use money is a trained behavior. Whether you struggle with finances or have built substantial wealth, your relationship with money was shaped by your past-your upbringing, your environment, and the lessons (or lack thereof) you absorbed along the way.I know this firsthand. Growing up on the Westbank of New Orleans, money wasn't a conversation about building wealth-it was about making it to the next paycheck. Financial struggles were a constant reality; without realizing it, I was conditioned to repeat the cycle. It took years of failure and self-reflection to finally understand that financial freedom isn't about how much money you make but how you manage what you have. This book is about breaking free from the financial patterns that keep you stuck. It's about shifting from survival mode to a mindset of abundance. Through personal stories, hard lessons, and fundamental strategies, I'll show you how to take control of your money instead of letting money control you.Jay Gaudet is a successful financial and real estate investment advisor with deep experience in hedge funds, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, REITs, capital allocation, fund creation, capital raising, and portfolio financing. He's also a popular speaker and holds a Master's Degree from Southern University and A&M College, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The Licensing Racket
A bottom-up investigation of the broken system of professional licensing, affecting everyone from hairdressers and morticians to doctors, lawyers, real estate agents, and those who rely on their services. Tens of millions of US workers are required by law to have a license to do their jobs--about twice as many as are in unions. The requirements are set by over 1,500 industry-specific licensing boards, staffed mainly by volunteers from the industries they regulate. These boards have enormous power to shape the economy and the lives of individuals. As consumers, we rely on licensing boards to maintain standards of hygiene, skill, and ethics. But their decisions can be maddeningly arbitrary, creating unnecessary barriers to work. And where boards could be useful, curbing harms and ensuring professionalism, their performance is profoundly disappointing. When Rebecca Haw Allensworth began attending board meetings, she discovered a thicket of self-dealing and ineptitude. Drawing on hundreds of hours of interviews with board members and applicants, The Licensing Racket goes behind the scenes to show how boards protect insiders from competition and turn a blind eye to unethical behavior. Even where there is the will to discipline bad actors, boards lack the resources needed to investigate serious cases. The consequences range from the infuriatingly banal--a hairdresser prevented from working--to the deeply shocking, with medical licensing boards bearing considerable blame for the opioid crisis and for staffing shortages during the COVID epidemic. Meanwhile, unethical lawyers who are allowed to keep their licenses are overrepresented among advocates working with the most vulnerable groups in society. If licensing is in many arenas a pointless obstacle to employment, in others it is as important as it is ineffective. Allensworth argues for abolition where appropriate and outlines an agenda for reform where it is most needed.

The effects of the Pedagogical Political Project on school management
This work was conceived as a way of investigating the relationship between the management practised in primary schools and the participation of teachers in the respective Pedagogical Political Project. The discussion of this topic is justified in view of the need to deepen the reflection on the structure and the process of drawing up the pedagogical project for a democratic pedagogical practice aimed at the quality of education. This reflection is necessary because it can be seen that there are still schools that do not have democratic management, which is one of the principles observed in the Pedagogical Political Project, and do not have effective teacher participation in drawing up and constructing the school's pedagogical proposal. The data on which this study was based was collected by analysing documents and administering questionnaires to teachers at a municipal public school in S瓊o Paulo. The public school surveyed has a democratised management system in which the concentration of power is not exclusively in the hands of the headmaster, who generally gives the rules and orders for the pedagogical work.

The Money Mentor
The Money Mentor is my take on the classic self-help book - with one major difference: It's a bullshit-free zone!If you're reading this, it's because you've recognised that your finances need help. Either that or your kids gave you the book as a Christmas stocking-filler, it's pouring with rain and there's nothing on telly this afternoon.Seriously, however you got here isn't important. The important thing is - you're here. Right here, right now is where you start getting control of your finances. This is where you stop throwing money away like it's going out of fashion and start saving. This is where your financial worries start to lessen. This is where you and your family begin to get ahead in the game. What I do is very straightforward - I help ordinary Mums and Dads burdened with standard 30-year home loans, pay off those loans within 7 to 10 years. Yes, you read that correctly - you can be mortgage-free in 7 to 10 years simply by following a plan that we create together. It's not magic. There's no smoke and mirrors. It's not even a secret how we can do this together. In fact, I call it the 'not-so-secret, secret', because anyone can do it.Together, we examine your lifestyle and make a detailed assessment of your living expenses. Using that information, we then give every single dollar of your family's monthly income a specific purpose and structure it within a realistic budget. And guarantee to pay the loan off in 7 to 10 years.Paying your home loan off over 30 years is bullshit! It's the biggest rip-off. When you're sitting in your bank, arranging your home loan, their entire focus is on the minimum monthly repayment. That just means they're forecasting their juicy profits over a 30-year period. Profits that you're paying for.We can even pay off that 30-year loan earlier in some cases. One of our records is having cleared a mortgage in only 3.5! Mortgage-free in three and a half years - wouldn't everyone love to be in that position? Our aim is to disrupt the passive, inherited way of thinking encouraged by the banks and to completely change traditional Mum and Dad psychology. Not with idealistic nonsense and impossible to achieve pie-in-the-sky advice aimed at solving unrealistic or non-typical situations. This book is packed with proven, practical and realistic strategies that work. If you and your family follow the process that we all agree to in the beginning, you will achieve the results we predict at the start. Guaranteed!
