NeuroLink
One of the saddest things with having a family member unconscious is the inability to talk or communicate in any meaningful way. Moreover, these patients can't express any decision, and it's often left on the family to decide if they live or not. Over the past two decades, relentless research and ground-breaking development programs have transformed BCI from a speculative concept into one of the most challenging and exciting frontiers of scientific exploration. This remarkable technology forges new pathways, allowing brain signals to directly communicate and control external devices without relying on the traditional routes of peripheral nerves and muscles. By interpreting electrophysiological and other neural signals, BCIs decipher the very intentions of users, translating thoughts into tangible actions. These neural signals can be meticulously recorded over the scalp, beneath it, or even within the depths of the brain itself. Advanced magnetic sensors and innovative methodologies further enrich the tapestry of data collection. In real-time, these captured signals are transformed into output commands that fulfil the user's desires.

Reconfigurable Architectures for Very-Large-Scale Integration
Reconfigurable architecture refers to a system design approach where the architecture of a computing system can be dynamically or statically modified to adapt to different tasks or requirements. This concept is widely applied in hardware design, especially in fields such as embedded systems, high-performance computing, and digital signal processing. The primary goal of reconfigurable architecture is to achieve greater flexibility, efficiency, and performance by enabling the hardware to adapt to specific computational tasks.
Watershed image segmentation based on various sequential processes
Mathematical morphology especially watershed algorithm based image segmentation has been found to occupy an important place in the second level of digital image processing. The output segmented images should be suitable and conducive to the computer machines for subsequent processing. Already a few standard algorithms have been invented and have been established without any apparent pitfall in them. In spite of the quality of their studies, there are a lot of scopes and subareas which are apparently non exhaustive and may still left for further studies. This book aims at to carry out research studies on these aspects which are felt by the authors unexplored. All these aspects have been studied theoretically followed by computer software (MATLAB various versions available from time to time) based experimentations. The same have been carried out on the digital images imported from standard databases as well as real life images. Apart from this, the book has placed a sincere attempt by filling of the voids in the existing ones and thus fills up the vacant rooms in mathematical morphological based image segmentation.
Basics of Optical Losses
The goal of this book is to provide readers a complete understanding of optical communication streams operating at high speeds. For high-speed communications systems, optical devices and other sophisticated signal processing features have also been extensively studied recently. Typical optical devices are light emitting diodes and photodetectors. Advances in dense optical communication systems have significant applications in networking, data processing, and telecommunications. It consists of three parts: a transmitter that transforms a message into an optical signal, a receiver that transforms the optical signal back into the original message, and a channel that guides the optical signal to the desired destination. The target audience for this book also includes research, development, and design engineers from teams in the manufacturing, academic, and telecommunications industries.

Organisation Change - Japan
For those that want to understand concisely Japanese Organisation Change within a American context you must read this book. David Bannister worked for an American manufacturing business that decided to adopt Japanese manufacturing principles based upon the Toyota Production System (TPS). The business already used the American Six Sigma principles in line with many American automotive businesses. So this gained him a unique opportunity to see and compare both the American and Japanese approaches to manufacturing. The idea for this book evolved out of an objective to try and communicate concisely how the Japanese approach Organisation Change which is very different to the American approach. But it needs to be appreciated that the Japanese culture has its own limitations against the American culture that more readily accepts radical changes. It is Japanese evolutionary change verse American revolutionary change. In fact those that choose to combine the two approaches are going to be the most successful businesses in the future. This Concise Guide to Organisational Change - Japan provides a quick way for you to gain an understanding of this complex subject. It looks to summarise the essence of the subject and engage you as the reader in the main areas of knowledge supporting this subject. Most importantly the objective is to encourage you to go deeper into the subject so the background on the experts (gurus) behind this subject and their books should prove invaluable. As the author my understanding was acquired by practical industrial experience, training courses, seminars and reading. Much of my understanding came from reading many books so I have a view that you should read these books for yourself to acquire the knowledge from these experts first hand in their words not mine. The Bibliography included is therefore important since it details the books valued by the author although there are no doubt many more just as effective. With, sadly, most of these books now heading for the skip they can be easily acquired at low cost over the internet from many Second Hand book providers.

Tech Agnostic
An urgently needed exploration of global technology worship, and a measured case for skepticism and agnosticism as a way of life, from the New York Times-bestselling author of Good without God. Today's technology has overtaken religion as the chief influence on twenty-first century life and community. In Tech Agnostic, Harvard and MIT's influential humanist chaplain Greg Epstein explores what it means to be a critical thinker with respect to this new faith. Encouraging readers to reassert their common humanity beyond the seductive sheen of "tech," this book argues for tech agnosticism--not worship--as a way of life. Without suggesting we return to a mythical pre-tech past, Epstein shows why we must maintain a freethinking critical perspective toward innovation until it proves itself worthy of our faith or not. Epstein asks probing questions that center humanity at the heart of engineering: Who profits from an uncritical faith in technology? How can we remedy technology's problems while retaining its benefits? Showing how unbelief has always served humanity, Epstein revisits the historical apostates, skeptics, mystics, Cassandras, heretics, and whistleblowers who embody the tech reformation we desperately need. He argues that we must learn how to collectively demand that technology serve our pursuit of human lives that are deeply worth living. In our tumultuous era of religious extremism and rampant capitalism, Tech Agnostic offers a new path forward, where we maintain enough critical distance to remember that all that glitters is not gold--nor is it God.
The Observatory Experiment
In this innovative history of the science of meteorology, Simon Naylor focuses our attention on the spaces in which it was pursued: meteorological observatories. During the nineteenth century, meteorologists established or converted sites where observers and their instruments could be housed, where they collected and analysed data and developed meteorological theories. He examines a number of these sites around the British Empire, along with the governmental, military and commercial networks connecting them. Taking many shapes to capture the weather in different environments, these observatories brought various social groups into contact with the practice of science, including sailors on naval surveying vessels, climbers ascending Scottish peaks, and families checking their rain gauges at home. Through a study of these spaces, Naylor argues for the treatment of meteorology as an experimental observatory science, on which the development of knowledge about local, regional, national and global weather and climate relied.
Atlas of Anomalous AI
What do the divinatory practices of Ancient Greece's Oracle of Delphi, the Incan knotted quipu counting device, the I Ching, the nine billion names of God and Elizabethan mathematician John Dee have to do with artificial intelligence? The Atlas of Anomalous AI is a compelling and surprising map of our complex relationship to intelligence, from ancient to emerging systems of knowledge. A wildly associative constellation of ideas, stories, artworks and historical materials, the Atlas draws on art historian Aby Warburg's Mnemosyne Atlas -- an image map of the "afterlife of antiquity" -- to approach the defining concepts of AI from an imaginative, artistic and revitalising perspective. The Atlas presents a hyperdimensional view of the world, through a broad range of perspectives that explore the question of what AI has been and what it is becoming. Key texts on modelling, prediction and automation are brought together with stories of science fiction, dreams and human knowledge, set among visionary and surreal images by Emma Kunz, Pablo Amaringo, Carl Jung, Hilma af Klint, William Blake. The Atlas expands our common understanding of AI and raises new questions beyond a illusory fixation on linear progression, towards a new horizon of infinite play in the construction of artificial intelligence today.
Cyber Security for Robotic Systems in Healthcare
The rapid growth in robotic technology has paved the way for new opportunities in modern healthcare and biomedical engineering. Recent advances in the field of medical robotics have been proposed to offer solutions for complex surgeries. Surgical robotic systems can produce rapid, precise, and minimally invasive operations, which ensure faster patient recovery compared to traditional surgery. The Robot Operating System (ROS) is a widely adopted standard robotic middleware for constructing robotic applications. However, it is associated with several cybersecurity threats that must be addressed to safeguard the communication occurring within ROS. The vast majority of people would not do business with a company that had been breached, particularly if it failed to protect its customers' data. Therefore, the loss of customer and stakeholder trust may be the most detrimental effect of cybercrime, as cybercriminals often steal sensitive information from their victims.

Bioprocesses in Chemical Engineering
This scientific research aimed to evaluate the effect of oxygen transfer on microbial development during the solid-state fermentation process, using mathematical models of transport phenomena to establish the mass transfer coefficients of the bioprocess, along with experimental data on airflow and microbial growth from scientific studies. Thus, the mass transfer involved in the fermentation was carried out, and the relationship between oxygen requirements for microbial development and its diffusion capacity from the gas phase to the liquid-solid interface of the bioprocess was established. Of the four major scientific areas coupled to carry out a biotechnological process (Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genetics, and Chemical Engineering), Chemical Engineering plays a fundamental role in scaling up laboratory-level experiments to industrial design by implementing the phenomena of mass, heat, and momentum transfer in the unit operations used for the pre- and post-treatments required for conducting bioprocesses in bioreactors and subsequent purification to obtain the desired products.

Investigating Effects of Technology on Ethics Challenges
There is need to study ethics along technology, since each piece of technology brings in significant novel forms of power and hence the changes being brought in by each technology piece must be well delimited, at least academically. The objectives of such studies remain towards betterment of society at large. In this manuscript, the book "Business Ethics Tutorial", is referenced here, more precisely its unit 4. The methodology applied here is to read in between the lines of the notes preached in that booklet, and formulate/extract and adapt questions pertaining to ethics with respect to a particular technology being studied. Of course, all questions thereby proposed may not have equal applicability for every piece of technology being studied: some questions are more pertinent for one technology while others are more pertinent for other technologies. This element remains to be studied when studying the particular technology chosen. It is therefore recommended to readers to read this manuscript alongside the business ethics booklet from tutorialspoint.

From the verdant plains of the Indus Valley to the lush fields of the Ganges, agriculture has been the lifeblood of Indian civilization, sustaining communities and shaping the cultural landscape for millennia. The roots of Indian agriculture can be traced back to the ancient Indus Valley civilization, one of the world's earliest urban societies. In the fertile floodplains of the Indus River, ancient peoples cultivated a diverse array of crops, including wheat, barley, rice, and cotton. The advanced urban centers of Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa boasted sophisticated agricultural techniques, including irrigation systems and crop rotation, which supported a thriving population and facilitated trade with distant lands.
Integration of Wind Power Plant Model into Load Flow Analysis
Huge wind power plant (WPP) penetration in electric power systems can cause some problems. These problems will affect the power system's steady-state and dynamic performances. Information about the steady-state performances of an electric power system is usually obtained from load flow analysis. The most crucial step in the analysis is modeling all power system components, including the WPP. This book is devoted to developing steady-state load flow models of fixed-speed WPP. The methods for incorporating the models into load flow analysis are also presented in this book. The present book also gives extensive validation studies to verify the developed WPP models and their integration techniques.
