Autologiczne czynniki wzrostu w regeneracji przyzębia
Zapalenie przyzębia jest chorobą zapalną tkanek podporowych zęb籀w wywolaną przez grupę specyficznych mikroorganizm籀w. Prowadzi do postępującej destrukcji więzadel przyzębia i kości wyrostka zębodolowego z tworzeniem kieszonek przyzębnych lub recesji dziąsel, albo obu tych zjawisk jednocześnie.

All on Four Concept
The All-on-4 concept is a highly successful treatment option for the edentulous patient with excellent clinical outcomes. The All-on-4 concept is a paradigm shift in how implants are placed and angulated compared to traditional concepts with axial placement in a vertical manner. The angulations allow placement that avoids anatomical structures and also allows the use of longer implants, enabling increased bone to implant contact and placement of the implant into better quality bone anteriorly. Placement of dental implants previously in attempts to treat the severely resorbed maxilla and mandible has had only limited success. But the rehabilitation of completely edentulous, atrophied maxilla and mandible by the placement of implants using the AII-on-Four protocol gives new hope for a perceivable success, while becoming a promising treatment method of choice and standard in the care for severely compromised patients.
Dental Caries Vaccine - Are we there yet?
Interest in a vaccine for dental caries prevention dates back to a period when the lactobacilli were thought to be of paramount importance in the initiation of dental caries. By means of immunization with a homologous lactobacillus vaccine, in 1944 William was partially successful in reducing the number of lactobacilli in human saliva. More recently, the understanding of the important role that streptococcus mutans plays in the initiation of caries has a re-awakening of interest in the vaccine approach, as evidenced by the numerous experimental attempts to control caries immunologically in laboratory animals such as rats and monkeys. Although results have not always been encouraging, the development of a caries vaccine is considered a highly desirable goal because of the potential important public health implications. Though the research on the caries vaccine started in 1930, much attention has been given to it only in the last three decades. Since then, many new vaccines have been developed and continued research in this field has also disclosed the potential drawbacks.

Auswirkung von parodontal pathogenen Keimen auf die Karzinogenese. Eine ausf羹hrliche Literatur羹bersicht
The ALF Approach
Millions of people treated with traditional orthodontics have experienced a relapse in crowding or malposition of teeth when the required lifetime nighttime dental retainer is discontinued. In fact, there is a 100% chance that teeth alignment will not be sustained without the nighttime correction of a dental appliance. Many may have also experienced postural changes with "slouching" shoulders or jaw and head pain or worse, or developed sleep apnea years after orthodontics. Why is this and is there an alternative orthodontic approach? The goal of the current traditional orthodontic approach is to pull the upper and/or lower jaws back with braces in order to align the teeth. This approach is currently called retractive orthodontics. The common consequence is the space inside the mouth, known as the oral volume, becomes smaller and the tongue becomes crowded, thus falling back into the airway. It is estimated that 22 million people suffer with sleep apnea secondary to the compromise of airway space. This backwards retraction on the upper and lower jaw goes against the face's natural forward growth and developmental process. The forward growth of the face is driven and directed by the functions of the face. The ALF Approach book presents the underlying causes of crooked teeth, jaw pain, and postural changes and the "why" behind the relapse. This book explains the critical functions of nasal breathing, functional swallowing, and resting position of the tongue in the upper palate, as well as chewing as the basis for optimal facial form and dental postural health. The book emphasizes and explains the utmost importance of tongue function and nasal breathing to optimize airway and the importance of a forward orthodontic treatment that increases the airway as it augments normal growth and development of the face. The goal of this book is to present the ALF Approach, an integrative forward-focused alternative approach to traditional orthodontics, so the millions of people seeking help with misaligned teeth, jaw pain, postural issues, airway compromises, allergies, asthma, and many other health and neuromuscular skeletal compromises can experience an transformational holistic orthodontic treatment. This book is written for the prospective patient, curious and worried parent, as well as the new and seasoned ALF dentist, myofunctional therapist, and osteopathic physician. Inside the book you will find: - Description and goals of the ALF appliance and approach. - What are the underlying causes of malocclusions and how to correct them with a biocompatible approach? - How birth trauma can influence facial growth and malocclusions. - What is osteopathic manual medicine and who needs it? - What is oral myofunctional therapy and who needs it? - The interdependent connection between posture and the dental occlusion. - A comprehensive integrative functional approach to temporomandibular dysfunction. - How the food we eat affects the growth of our face. - Early interventions related to craniofacial dysfunction.

Digital Impression And Digital Occlusion
As master diagnosticians and endpoint providers, prosthodontists have become leaders in adopting an evidence‐based approach to assess new strategies in the delivery of services to our patients. The process, however, has required a renaissance of thinking and breaking down old, well established models and principles as we assess quantum changes in such fields as implant dentistry, maxillofacial prosthetics, all‐ceramic restorations and digital applications. While thousands of dentists and technicians have integrated digital technologies into their practices and laboratories over the past decade, thousands more have yet to take more than a first step. Thus, today's prosthodontists share a great responsibility, and a greater privilege, to lead the digital dentistry revolution both in research and in practice, and to continue to move dreams to the drawing table, and then to reality. The coming years will surely bring exponential change to the entire field of prosthodontics and how we embrace those changes will define our specialty.
Medically Compromised Patients - A Dilemma in Dentistry
"In the real world of dentistry, the professional maturity, the grit and the mettle of the dentist are tested in his or her reaction to the presentation of unexpected, emergency conditions". Can the dentist accept the responsibility for a patient whose state of health is unknown ? certainly not. Only thorough compilation of a accurate case history can the dentist know patients state of health and thus avoid interactions between drugs that could become serious. Luckily these occasions are rare, but the techniques of emergency treatment are essential to save human life.
Maxillary Sinus
Maxillary sinus disease is common & numerous disorders can affect this anatomical area. As lesions are frequently allowed to grow to a significant size before becoming symptomatic, patients often present late, this can make management option more limited and difficult. Proper evaluation both clinically and with appropriate imaging allows accurate diagnosis, and lesion can often be successfully managed endoscopically. The radiographic anatomy of maxillary sinus and related structures are seen in Waters View, Sub Mento Vertex View and Caldwell View and more clear in 3D imaging technique especially Cone Beam Computed Tomography. Careful studies of these projections provide an excellent knowledge of the radiographic anatomy of maxillary sinus and its normal variants as well as different intrinsic & extrinsic pathologies involving it.
Early Orthodontic Intervention in Pediatric Patients
Preventive and interceptive orthodontics is a dynamic phase which requires ever constant vigilance and a routine discipline for both the dentist and patient. The problems cannot and should not be neglected as they may land in trouble in future if not treated timely. Treatment in primary dentition should be undertaken to remove the obstacles of growth of face and dentition and to restore the normal functions. Nevertheless many problems do not require any treatment during this young age as they are self correcting in nature or can be better treated later in mixed dentition which is the time of greatest opportunity for occlusal guidance and interception of malocclusion. This book summarizes such problems and how they should be taken care of well in time.

CAD-CAM in Restorative Dentistry
Using CAD-CAM technology in the dental office and laboratory may have seemed like a science fiction 20 years ago, but today it is a reality. Dental CAD-CAM technology is successful today because of the vision of many great pioneers. As Duret, concluded in his article in 1991, "The systems will continue to improve in versatility, accuracy, and cost effectiveness, and will be a part of routine dental practice from the beginning of the 21st century. With a future that can get promisingly digitized, we as a dentists have to be well aware of the developments, and how they can improve dental treatment quality and its longevity, based on strong scientific proofs and thereby stay at par with the latest technologies.
Biomimetics in Dentistry
Biomimetics provide new strategy that translates our knowledge of biological system and create new synthetic pathways to mimic biological processes. Three approaches are being used for the creation of new tissues by mimicking natural ones which includes the tissue engineering triad; the cells, mediators and a biocompatible matrix. It is a challenge to design and fabricate new biomimetic materials like enamel, dentin, cementum, pulp, bone and periodontal ligament. Focusing on to the future, we should direct our goal to regenerate the diseased and necrotic tissues rather than replacing them with some conventional replacement materials.

Interleukins in Periodontal Diseases
Periodontal diseases including chronic and aggressive periodontitis involves interplay of infectious, host response, environmental and genetic factors. Interleukins plays an important part in pathophysiology of periodontal diseases which ultimately leads to periodontal tissue destruction and tooth loss. As these cytokines underplay an important role in pathophysiology of periodontal diseases so these mediators could be a potential diagnostic and therapeutic targets in periodontal diseases.Interleukins play a major role in etiology of both periodontal diseases and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Hence better control of one disease could lead to better control another disease simultaneously if present together in a patient.
Role of Diet and Nutrition in Dental Caries
Dental caries is a chronic disease among humans and is a major global oral health problem in the world today. Caries is the demineralisation of dental tissue through acid produced by bacterial fermentation of dietary carbohydrates. It's slow progression results from an ecological imbalance of equilibrium between tooth minerals and oral biofilms characterized by microbial activity. This results in fluctuation of plaque pH due to the acid production, buffering action from saliva and the surrounding tooth structure. The microbial community of caries is diverse and contains many facultatively and obligately-anaerobic bacteria. This Dental disease has been associated with low self-esteem, adverse pregnancy outcomes, and increased risk of various life threatening complications. Treatment, prevention, personal hygiene and dietary modification are recommended for dental caries patients.

Early Childhood Caries
Early childhood caries (ECC) is one of the most prevalent diseases in children worldwide. ECC is driven by a dysbiotic state of oral microorganisms mainly caused by a sugar-rich diet. Additionally, poor oral hygiene or insufficient dental plaque removal leads to the rapid progression of ECC. ECC leads to dental destruction and pain with children, but also affects the quality of life of the caregivers. children with extensive ECC are at the high risk to develop caries with permanent dentition or will have other problemswith speaking/ or eating. To prevent ECC, several strategies should should be taken into account.

Metallurgic Aspects and Designs of Rotary Endodontic Instruments
Endodontic instruments made of NiTi shape-memory alloy have had a revolutionary impact on root canal treatment. This development has fostered a significant amount of research that is focused on enhancing metallic properties to improve clinical performance and safety which will significantly affect the outcome of root canal shaping and cleaning. However, the dentists are facing so many challenges and obstacles while doing root canal treatment as there is no one size that fits all canal shapes and sizes. Keeping in mind the limitation of different file systems, the dentist should wisely choose amongst various rotary systems relying on clinical expertise and available evidence.
