Financing Basic Income
This Palgrave Pivot second edition argues that basic income is, in fact, affordable. The contributors approach the topic from the perspectives of three different countries--Canada, Switzerland, and Australia--to overcome objections that a universal program to keep all citizens above the poverty line would be too expensive to implement. They assess the complex array of revenue sources that can make universal basic income feasible, from the underestimated value of public program redundancies to new and so far, unaccounted publicly owned assets. This new edition adds an analysis for financing basic income in the United States, as well as considering the basic income potential in a country of far more modest economic resources, Portugal. The COVID-19 pandemic is discussed in a new Prologue, demonstrating the need for universal economic security as a precautionary measure for unforeseen crises. New research and compelling analyses are included throughout, to provide support for a dual basic income proposal.

Mindful and Intentional Money Management
Money impacts every facet of life. And constant money related concerns have a negative impact on a person's overall health and well-being. While money does not buy happiness, financial security can reduce stress and make life much easier to navigate. Mindful and Intentional Money Management takes people to the root of their money management behavior that has been formed by their money scripts (long held beliefs and perspectives on money that one has learned throughout life), personality, habits, attitude, and values. Dr. Simpson presents three action plans to build a solid financial foundation that include helping readers know where they're going (setting goals), know where they are (creating a financial snapshot), and learn/play/execute (bridging the gap between their goals and financial snapshot).Part 1 introduces the SMARTER goal system to guide readers to set mindful and intentional financial goals. In Part 2, readers compare their income and expenses, assets and debt, and debt-to-income ratio to determine their current net worth. This provides their financial snapshot. Part 3 instructs readers on how to plan and execute strategies to make behavior changes that lead to lasting change and progress that support a secure financial future.Readers will identify and eliminate poor money management behaviors and replace them with new habits that are sustainable and aligned with their value system and goals. The power of habits and creating muscle memory will automate money management decisions and make the change in behavior much easier. The strategies offered here can be life changing when applied.

In the decade since Fred Wiersema coauthored the #1 bestseller The Discipline of Market Leaders, a momentous shift has occured. We have entered an age of customer scarcity--an age in which exciting, often unorthodox companies are revolutionizing the global marketplace. In this path-cutting work, Wiersema provides new benchmarks for ranking businesses in this new economy and reveals the strategies that set winning companies apart. After tracking 5,000 companies worldwide for over six years, Wiersema discovered that just a few hundred of these of these exert tremendous influence on the new economy. Here, he explains why traditional measures of competitive prowess no longer apply and, using new yardsticks, identifies today's 100 most influential businesses. With practical strategies for managers and investors, Wiersema then shows how to recognize and emulate these dynamic new market leaders.
How to Hide Money from Your Husband
When Heidi Evans's ninety-one-year-old aunt died, her sons were dumbstruck to discover a bankbook with a balance of $50,000 hidden in her top drawer. She had been a devoted housewife and mother all of her adult life -- so where had the money come from? But the women in the family just smiled. They knew. Like generations of women, Aunt Lee had been building a nest egg, stashing away a few dollars a week from her household allowance (and maybe sometimes from Uncle Irving's pockets) so that she could have a little money of her very own -- for a rainy day, for her kids, or just to pay for her dreams. Now Evans revives this age-old practice of stowing away money and shows women of all ages how a nest egg can make marriage more secure and more fun, and divorce or widowhood less devastating. This award-winning journalist shows us just how the nest egg works by introducing us to a fascinating variety of women whose marriages have been marked by the war over money. These intimate and revealing stories give us a clear view of the financial landscape within marriage today, from relationships in which men control the money -- and their wives -- to families in which women can openly save their own money for the years ahead. And so we meet Veronica, a hair colorist in her twenties who stashes $20 a day from her tips so she can pay for the little luxuries she and her new husband would like. And Meryl, whose husband left her for a younger woman after twenty-five years of marriage and who now finds that divorce has generated a desperate need for private savings. Later, we meet Irene, a seventy-seven-year-old for whom early widowhood might have meant poverty for her and her sons if she hadn't been so smart about creating a nest egg. The age-old tradition of the nest egg has become more important for women than ever. Indeed, financial security is the number-one problem facing women today, in and out of marriage. Women are still earning only 76 cents to every dollar earned by men and champing at the bit to have equal footing -- or at least the ability to buy that third pair of black pumps without an argument. What to do? Save a little for yourself...with the full knowledge of your husband (if you can) or on the sly (if you must). Whether you pick your husband's pockets or work like a dog for your own paycheck, money is marriage insurance, and it's nonnegotiable. So what are you waiting for?

Asset Revesting
ASSET REVESTING is a ground-breaking book that reveals a revolutionary investment style the outdated financial industry does not want you to discover. The author, a seasoned financial expert, shows how using an asset hierarchy and deploying both risk and position management redefines how to build wealth. Asset Revesting solves several financial industry problems most people don't even know they have. This book shows a different way to invest. It sheds new light on the investing world's hidden realities, risks, and unknown opportunities. It is a must-read for all investors, especially those using a diversified buy-and-hold portfolio. The content will alter your thinking and improve your outlook on investing and life. IF YOU'RE AN INVESTOR, YOU PROBABLY HAVE THREE CHALLENGES: - You want higher returns with less stress and lower risk. - You want to reach your financial goals faster. - You are worried you will run out of money in retirement. ASSET REVESTING CAN SOLVE ALL THREE OF THE CHALLENGES ABOVE: - Increase returns by holding only assets rising. - Achieve your financial goals in years vs. decades. - Become wealthier vs. poorer in retirement. This overview of Asset Revesting is the first step toward total financial freedom. It's important to note that you won't find technical analysis or detailed step-by-step strategies here. Instead, you will learn what needs to be changed and how to harness this investing style, either on your own or with the author's help. This strategy is most efficient with investment accounts in the $100K - $5M range. The book's approach tends to irk most financial industry professionals and is not for short-term aggressive traders. These folks, though curious to learn, will dislike any method that breaks free from the 'norm' and threatens their foundation. They may even attempt to discredit the book's content to calm the waters. But don't be fooled because, in doing so, their pushback supports the fact that Asset Revesting has merit and can begin the process of change that the financial industry (and potentially your savings) desperately needs.

Pension Funds and Sustainable Investment
This is an open access title available under the terms of a CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 International licence. It is free to read at Oxford Scholarship Online and offered as a free PDF download from OUP and selected open access locations. Since its green shoots first emerged around 50 years ago, acceptance of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations in institutional investing-especially at pension funds-has evolved with distinct shifts in investor preferences. This Pension Research Council volume traces these shifts and their implications, leading up to the present day. The book notes that investors have diverse reasons for devoting attention to ESG criteria when deciding where to invest their money. Some had religious motives, such as Quakers who focused on values; this approach can offer some risk mitigation. Nevertheless, studies that look at whether divestment actually changes companies' behaviors show that this rarely occurs. Accordingly, this book offers a variety of distinct viewpoints from a variety of countries, on whether, how, and when ESG criteria should, and should not, drive pension fund investments. The authors also find that policymakers should consider fund consolidation in private sector retirement systems, along with whether service-provider incentives could be better be aligned with sustainability incentives. For instance, boosting transparency in these markets would help generate better-informed policies, while providing beneficiaries with information relevant to their savings choices.

Acque Sorgive Salutari e Sacre in Etruria (Italiae Regio VII)
The medicinal and panaceist benefits of spring water have been known since ancient times and people have been bathing in and drinking from springs, lakes and watery caves for centuries. This volume presents a catalogue of such sites in the region of Etruria, dating from prehistory to the late Roman Imperial period. As well as describing 115 sites, or topographical units as Chellini labels them, he discusses overall trends in drinking, bathing, worshipping and leaving votive offerings at these sites based on the evidence he cites. The development of cults and belief systems associated with such sites, such as those linked to female fertility and lactation, and the veneration of divinities such as Apollo and Hercules, is emphasised.
