He disengages from the classic scientific engineering system of testing; his works are unconventional experiments. Text in English and German. If we understand "transcendence" as a multidimensional experience, can light as a medium grant us access to invisible realms? The artist Fabian Gaterman uses light as the key material for his installations, objects, and multiples in order to investigate new dimensions. Over the course of his work, Gatermann disengages himself from the classic scientific engineering system of testing; instead his works can be seen as open-ended unconventional experiments. During this creative process, light oscillates between amorphous and crystalline states, taking the viewer on a transcendental voyage of discovery. The central reference throughout remains the human being: the works provoke active participation and invite the viewer to become part of a multi-perspective game of light and space. This first monograph on Italian artist Emilio Prini and his radical approach to art. This is the first monograph dedicated to one of Italy's most enigmatic and complex artistic figures, Emilio Prini (1943-2016), a key figure of Arte Povera whose work has never been fully surveyed. Structured chronologically from 1966 to 2016, it examines his work via a systematic iconographic and bibliographic analysis of Prini's archives along with the institutions he exhibited at. As he considered the medium secondary to the concept, no distinction is made between installations, sculptures, invitations, posters, or documents; and by presenting the works first individually and then situated in different contexts, the book provides a unique insight into his particular methodology. Prini also consistently rejected the notion of the artwork as a closed and defined object, interrogating the very framework of the exhibition format. In our current context, marked by the overproduction and overconsumption of images and objects, the ongoing relevance of Prini's independent, elusive, and uncompromising approach lies in his questioning the necessity of production itself. The volume includes a text by curator Luca Lo Pinto and scholarly contributions from Alexander Alberro, Stefano Chiodi, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Timotea Prini, and Andrea Viliani, alongside artist interventions by four international artists: Lara Favaretto, Adam Harrison, John Knight, and Anri Sala. Vermeer's Afterlives
How a once-forgotten Dutch painter inspired generations of artists, writers, and filmmakers Johannes Vermeer (1632-1675) is one of the most beloved painters in the world. A three-volume set exploring Gilbert & George's Daytripping films (1992 - 2025), documenting their day trips to the Essex coastline. Gilbert & George, one of the most significant artist duos of our time, created their three-film series Daytripping between 1992 and 2025. This three-volume set of books showcases Daytripping, Daytripping (Again) and Daytripping Forever! Directed by Southend-on-Sea-born British film and television director Iain B. MacDonald, the films follow three of the artists' day trips from their studio, famously located in the East End of London, to the Essex coastline, asking bold and significant questions of the artists at different stages of their remarkable career. The three books feature stills from the films and a selection of the artists' works, all presented in a printed slipcase. Each book also includes a link to watch the corresponding film.
