Drawing on his experiences in Berlin under Schleiermacher and his travels to the Vatican, Mendelssohn, as the Director of Prussian Church Music, wanted to offer an edifying worship experience where large-scale choral works would become an indispensable part of the liturgy, which he saw as a performative or representational act, centered around the life of Christ. Yet he quickly realized that the court and clergy were not interested in his foundational concepts; they merely wanted reforms based on the restauration ideals espoused by Winterfeld and Thibaut. Analyses of his 25 Domchor compositions and their revisions in this Element chronicle Mendelssohn's stylistic development and his ability to continue to offer a Christological worship experience within strictly prescribed parameters. It was exuberant and eclectic: white youths learning to dance to the infectious rhythm of ska and reggae, crossed with a punk attitude, to create an original hybrid. The idea of 2 Tone was born in Coventry, England, and masterminded by a middle-class art student, Jerry Dammers, who envisioned an English Motown. Dammers signed a slew of successful artists, and a number of successive hits propelled 2 Tone onto Top of the Pops and into the hearts and minds of a generation. However, infighting among the bands and the pressures of running a label caused 2 Tone to bow to the inevitable weight of expectation and recrimination. Over the following years, Dammers built the label back up again, entering a new phase full of fresh signings and a beautiful end-piece finale in the activist hit song "(Free) Nelson Mandela." International Accounting
The International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) aim to promote the communication of accounting worldwide and thus contribute to the exchange of capital, with the aim of ensuring the transparency and harmonization of financial statements. This study therefore aims to verify the improvement in Brazilian accounting after the adoption of the International Financial Reporting Standards. In order to achieve the proposed objective, the number of words present in the explanatory notes published in periods before and after the adoption of the IFRS was measured. The sample is made up of companies listed on the Brazilian Stock Exchange in the cyclical consumer sector; the trade subsector and the Textiles, Clothing and Footwear segment in Brazil, excluding the company Grazziotin S.A., since it did not publish its explanatory notes in the years prior to 2010, the year in which publication in accordance with the IFRS became mandatory. A simple linear regression is used to analyze the data, and an additional test is the general average and average per company. The results show that the number of words in the explanatory notes increased after the adoption of IFRS, contributing to more disclosure
Analysis of block K as an inventory management tool
Accounting professionals and managers are experiencing constant evolution, one of which is the new measures adopted by the tax authorities to set up new systems and accessory obligations in order to improve the monitoring of company transactions and avoid fraudulent operations. The newest requirement, called Block K, consists of sending the Production and Inventory Control Record Book to industries and companies treated as industries. This obligation makes it possible to monitor the entire production chain of companies, from the entry of inputs to the finished product. The new measures adopted will have an impact on company procedures, as it will be necessary to review production and stock control management. In view of this, the aim of this study is to demonstrate the perception of accountants and managers regarding the new accessory obligation. In order to achieve the proposed objective, bibliographical research was initially carried out based on books and virtual materials, and a questionnaire was applied to managers and accounting professionals in the city of Nova Serrana-MG, in order to test the hypotheses raised.

Lavista was a relational composer; he did not write music as a private enterprise but for and alongside people with whom he established close relations. Understanding analysis as an affective practice, author Ana R. Alonso-Minutti explores the intertextual connections between the multiple texts--musical or otherwise--that are present in Lavista's music. Alonso-Minutti argues that, through adopting an interdisciplinary and transhistorical approach to music composition, Lavista forged a cosmopolitan imaginary that challenged stereotypes of what Mexican music should sound like. Blackbird
From the beginning, the Beatles acknowledged in interviews their debt to Black music, apparent in their covers of and written original songs inspired by Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Fats Domino, the Shirelles, and other giants of R&B. Blackbird goes deeper, appreciating unacknowledged forerunners, as well as Black artists whose interpretations keep the Beatles in play.Drawing on interviews with Black musicians and using the song "Blackbird" as a touchstone, Katie Kapurch and Jon Marc Smith tell a new history. This book is designed to introduce children K through 12th grade to their ancient African history. The Africans in Kmt (Egypt) saw the sun as a manifestation of the living God. Atum is recognized as the first creator. However, after Atum the visibility of the sun rose in prominence. Their early perception was that the sun resurrects each morning at dawn. During the day the sun appears to traverse the sky and at dusk it disappears into the underworld. Khepera is anthropomorphize as the scarab beetle. The midday sun at its peak signifies RA. In the evening as the sun goes down into the underworld it is referred to as Amen - the hidden one.About the AuthorBorn on the island of Trinidad in the Caribbean. Migrated to the United States in the mid 70's. Began working with the New York City Department of Education in 1987. A graduate of Medgar Evers college and Columbia university. The book Khepera is my second children's book. My first unpublished work is about the instruments in a steelband. It was written while i was attending Medgar Evers college. This book will be published soon. I am also an avid steel pan player.

Music and the Cultural Production of Scale
This open access book shows how geographical scales are made through music.Scales are sets of spatial frames, abstractions or categories that denote the size, proportion, level, extent or hierarchical relations of phenomena. They are neither natural nor neutral but actively produced, with real political effects. But what role do cultural practices play in the production of scale? Phil Dodds addresses this question by focusing on music, arguing that music scholarship has both most to gain from and most to offer to a fuller conceptualisation of how geographical scale is culturally produced. Dodds suggests that music scholars should treat scales as open questions, and as phenomena potentially made through musical practices, rather than as stable categories for framing other arguments about, say, 'local' or 'global' music. He analyses how the meaning of 'the local' is affected by the aesthetics of popular music, and how the relationship between the particularand the general is fused through common musical conventions. Music and the Cultural Production of Scale explores diverse musical examples - including Janelle Mon獺e's concept albums, key tracks in the grime genre, protest songs at environmental and anti-fascist demonstrations, and nineteenth-century colonial hymn-singing - to demonstrate how we already live in a world whose scales are made by music. The book also shows that music has the potential to produce a world scaled otherwise.

A Guide to the Songs of Poldowski (Lady Dean Paul) 1879-1932
Poldowski (Ir癡ne Dean Paul n矇e Wieniawska) 1879-1932 was the youngest daughter of the celebrated violinist/composer, Henryk Wieniawski. The only member of her family to follow her father into the music profession, she developed from a child prodigy into one of the most important and successful female composers in the United Kingdom. Like so many of her sister composers, her legacy has suffered the fate of neglect until a recent revival in interest. Poldowski's most successful composition genre is the solo art song, comprising mostly settings of texts by the French poet, Paul Verlaine. She displays an innate ability to realize the text within her own distinctive style with echoes of influence of her French counterparts, namely Faur矇 and Debussy. This book includes the most complete biography to date of this highly individual, colourful (and sometimes controversial) musician. The authors relate recently collected material from fieldwork in Vietnam to the long-term method development within the Vietnamese/Swedish group The Six Tones, of which three authors are the founding members. The discussion centers around the inter-subjective forms of stimulated recall analysis, developed through the creative work of this innovative intercultural music ensemble. The aim of this Element is to create a decolonized methodology--for both music performance and research--and it provides a detailed account of this method development starting in 2006. Furthermore, the authors discuss how this practice was successfully shared with three master performers in the south of Vietnam as part of a collaborative project in 2018-2019.
