Indigenous Snack Branding
Over the years, indigenous food producers in Nigeria have been using different types of packages for the sale of their products on the local market. The author had observed that enough efforts have not been made by the various stakeholders in the packaging and export sector to solve the problem of poor packaging of indigenous food products. Therefore, this book studies the packaging design, branding and production of prototype packages for the breadfruit ("ukwa") snack varieties, produced in four major towns in Anambra State Nigeria, namely Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi and Ekwulobia. This study identified the challenges inherent in the packaging design and production chains of the indigenous snack packaging industry in Nigeria; discovered methods which indigenous snack manufacturers could use to get customers' input for their products packaging design concepts and development; ascertained locally-sourced, readily-available and affordable materials that would be used to design suitable packaging for the various breadfruit ("ukwa") products; discovered suitable design elements and principles for the design process and packaging styles of the various breadfruit ("ukwa") products, which guided indigenous snack product manufacturers in Nigeria, in their products packaging design concepts/development; and finally produced various prototype package designs for breadfruit snack products. This research also tested the feasibility of Kano's Theory of Attractive Quality and Packaging in determining customer quality requirements for packaging concepts and development. The researcher employed the quantitative and qualitative methods of research in this study. The research unearthed some of the problems and challenges in the packaging design and production sub-sector in the Nigerian packaging industry. The book finally proposed solutions to the problems identified in the study.

Fashion Before Plus-Size
Shortlisted for the Association of Dress Historians Book of the Year Award, 2024 In 2022, it was reported that plus-sizes accounted for nearly twenty percent of all women's apparel sales in the United States and was one of the industry's few growth sectors. For many, this news seemed to herald a remarkably inclusive turn for an industry that long bartered in exclusivity. Yet the recent success of plus-size fashion obscures a rather complicated history-one that can be traced back over a century, and which illuminates the fraught relationship between fashion, fat, and weight bias in American culture. Although many regard fat as a malady of the present, in the early twentieth century it was estimated that more than one-third of American women classified as "overweight." While modern weight bias had yet to fully cement itself in the American imaginary, the limitations of mass garment manufacturing coupled with the ascendent slender beauty ideal had already relegated larger women to fashion's peripheries. By 1915, however, fashion forecasters predicted that so-called "stoutwear" was well positioned to become one of the most lucrative subsectors of the burgeoning ready-to-wear trade. In the years that followed, stoutwear manufacturers set out to create more space for the fat woman in fashion but, in doing so, revealed an ancillary motivation: that of how to design fat out of existence altogether. Fashion Before Plus-Size considers what came "before" plus-size fashion while also shedding new light on the ways that the fashion industry not only perpetuates but produces weight bias. By making marine glue joints practical, epoxy bonding changed boat joinery as radically as electric-arc welding changed steel fabrication.
