The Little Big Butt Book
How can we pack so much big booty into such a tiny and inexpensive package? Sorry, but it's a trade secret we can't divulge, except to say that shoehorns and spandex were involved. The original Big Butt Book featured a great cross section of delectable rears from the 1950s to the present day. Here, since life is such an ironic deal, we decided to pare the original content down to just the biggest and the best, in-your-face phatties to which the great Sir Mix-a-Lot alluded when penning, "My anaconda don't want none, unless you've got buns, hun." Then we added in about 30 new photos, just to be generous. Now in these 150 plus photos you'll see the big and the bountiful, then the bigger and more bountiful, in black and white and in color. The models may be largely anonymous, but their curves are legendary, and now that they're collected in a discrete little package affordable by all in these financially trying times, why hold back? Your badonkadonk is calling.

The Unintended
Reimagines photography through the long history of ideas of expression The end of the nineteenth century saw massive developments and innovations in photography at a time when the forces of Western modernity--industrialization, racialization, and capitalism--were quickly reshaping the world. The Unintended slows down the moment in which the technology of photography seemed to speed itself--and so the history of racial capitalism--up. It follows the substantial shifts in the markets, mediums, and forms of photography during a legally murky period at the end of the nineteenth century. Monica Huerta traces the subtle and paradoxical ways legal thinking through photographic lenses reinscribed a particular aesthetics of whiteness in the very conceptions of property ownership. The book pulls together an archive that encompasses the histories of performance and portraiture alongside the legal, pursuing the logics by which property rights involving photographs are affirmed (or denied) in precedent-setting court cases and legal texts. Emphasizing the making of "expression" into property to focus our attention on the failures of control that cameras do not invent, but rather put new emphasis on, this book argues that designations of control's absence are central to the practice and idea of property-making. The Unintended proposes that tracking and analyzing the sensed horizons of intention, control, autonomy, will, and volition offers another way into understanding how white supremacy functions. Ultimately, its unique historical reading practice offers a historically-specific vantage on the everyday workings of racial capitalism and the inheritances of white supremacy that structure so much of our lives.
Robert Doisneau: Music
Previously unpublished photographs and iconic portraits of musicians from the 1950s through the 1980s offer a new perspective on Doisneau's remarkable talent. Master photographer Robert Doisneau's passion for the joyful energy inherent in the music world comes alive in images that cover the musical spectrum, from classical and jazz to be-bop to the roots of modern rap and alternative rock. With camera in hand, Doisneau crisscrossed Paris to capture intimate moments with star musicians such as Eartha Kitt in a jazz club, Django Reinhardt at home, and Yehudi Menuhin backstage, or with locals at a neighborhood dance or jamming in a brass band. His portraits were commissioned for stars from Juliette Gr矇co to Charles Aznavour to Claude Fran癟ois, and a new generation of musicians in the 1980s including Rita Mitsouko and Les N矇gresses Vertes. This book--curated by the photographer's granddaughter to accompany an exhibition at the Philharmonie de Paris--includes more than one hundred photographs, many previously unpublished, that showcase the artist's mastery in editing, special effects, photomontage, collage, photo distortions, and splits.

Perou / Hyde: Tunnel Vision
Nocturnal scenes of Britain's forbidding, uniquely desolate underpassesYou can almost hear the ominous hum of the broken strip lighting, the knot of fear in the gut. These unloved spaces are notoriously menacing, graffiti-ridden, inconvenient. Yet through the lens of celebrated British portrait photographer Perou (born 1970) and the accompanying essay by Karl Hyde (of dance music duo Underworld), their architecture is also elevated to something magnificent, at times even ethereal. Shot at night, Perou's images also express the original utopian vision of the New Town planners of the 1960s and '70s.The idea for Tunnel Vision was sparked between friends Perou and Hyde when Perou shot the album cover for Hyde's debut solo album, Edgeland, featuring an underpass at night. Perou has now shot over 200 underpasses across England. The photographs are accompanied by Perou and Hyde's text, and also by text of found graffiti. Each plate is augmented with the latitude and longitude details of the location of the underpass.

Invisible Museums of the Unseen
Explore unseen architecture dedicated to the invisible forces of nature enveloping the body and the mind. This 'choose your own adventure' format monograph contains the full text transcriptions of the Chicago execution of Jeanette Andrews' audio augmented reality work, "Invisible Museums of the Unseen." The volume also serves as a companion work, delving into the research behind the piece and providing access for remote, static listening of the audio. Originally commissioned by the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago in 2020, this outdoor, GPS-activated audio AR work invited participants to wander fictitious, sonic museums dedicated to how invisible forces of nature (such as gravity, air, reflections, and sound waves) act upon the body and psyche. Situated in four parks throughout Chicago, participants' movements activated these app-based, auditory expressions of the unseen world. This work of invisible architecture creates the framework to investigate the mysterious forces acting upon us and asks if the world is a sensory illusion constructed of an infinite number of invisible building blocks. Each unseen structure is rooted in extensive research in contemporary physics as compared and contrasted with phenomenological philosophy. The work explores issues including what it means to place one's body in a space, the act of being seen in public while being prompted to move in non-traditional ways, the definitions of indoors and outdoors, the phenomenology of sensing the unseen, and what constitutes a museum. Foreword by Lynne Warren.

Use the pulldown or ask Amazon to see if this is possible to purchase in color in your country's site."Wind, waves, girls and rocks that loomed like sirens - what could go wrong? Jonathan takes us back to the exploits of rock and roll thrill-seekers who felt the need for speed and tempting unknown possibilities in the big wind, giant wave playgrounds of Maui. This book is the 'Top Gun' of windsurfing." Bill Boyum, Author, Journals from the Edge. This is a story of one man's remarkable perseverance, survival, and ultimate triumph along the way of capturing Maui's golden era of windsurfing - Sports Illustrated and NPPA Picture of the Year award-winning photographer and filmmaker Jonathan Weston. From the early pioneering days of Kailua to the big waves at Hookipa and Jaws, Weston's greatest talent of all is revealed through words, as he tells the story of the Kings and legends of the sport as it evolved from those unwieldy "white whales of death" to sky-high death-defying performances in gigantic surf. A fictional yet accurate to character dialogue accompanies these remarkable true events of survival, from those lost at sea to near-drownings and helicopter crashes. Weston was the first filmmaker to take the audience along for the ride with his innovative point-of-view (POV) helmet-mounted 16mm movie camera. The thrills, dangers, and behind-the-scenes experiences are all shared in this epic tale, and if that's not interesting enough for you, the Hemingway-esque tale of a young man at sea wrestling a marlin onboard a windsurfer while fighting off tiger sharks should. Remarkable images and the Wind Legends movie, also produced by Jonathan Weston, are in this book and posted on the accompanying website, http: //www.mauiglorydays.com
Hidden Treasures
Did you know that you can find happiness and healing through nature? See, life can sometimes bring many challenges, but if we look around at the rivers flowing, the trees stretching their branches, the flowers blooming, the birds flying in the sky, and the mountains reaching their highest peaks, we can find that needed hope to overcome life's obstacles. The purpose of this book is to share with you my journey of happiness and healing, using photos while providing my perspective of the places I have visited. Most of the images, captured in nature here, are from locations in South Carolina. You may also spot some that were taken in neighboring North Carolina and Georgia. For some, you might say this is "right in your backyard". This project began as a hobby but turned into an adventure for me. It also became my means of learning what other people perceive from nature. Although I genuinely enjoy hiking for exercise, I am always excited by the prospect of discovering the natural, and sometimes hidden places provided in nature. This has been an activity that I have been able to share with my family and friends. Each journey has been fun, some I might even call thrilling, which everyone might enjoy. I hope that this book provides you with the healing and happiness to provide you "hope" to continue your life's journey.
Wine Doors of Florence
There are over 150 tiny historic doors (buchette del vino) hiding in plain sight in the city streets of Florence. Called wine doors (or wine windows) in English, these little portals allowed the noble families of Florence to sell their agricultural products directly to the common citizens in the era of Cosimo I de Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany. This award-winning photography collection brings these long-forgotten elements of daily life to the present day and demonstrates the passage of time where they have been repurposed as restaurant menu shelves, door intercoms, and letterboxes. Some have become an evolving canvas for creative graffiti artists. This book captures a glimpse of the undiscovered history of Florence, actual doorways that have nearly vanished amongst the distractions of a modern tourist mecca.

The atlas uncovers unique and intrinsic features of the critters and plants. Unorthodox colour images through the artist's eyes. "Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it" (Confucius). Francesca Woodman's Dark Gaze
Focusing on the later work of the American photographer Francesca Woodman (1958-1981), Claire Raymond takes up the question of the disintegrative condition of the art she produced in the last year of her life. Departing from the techniques of her earlier compositions, Woodman worked in the diazotype process for many of these late pieces, most importantly the monumental Blueprint for a Temple. Raymond shows that through her use of diazotype, a medium that breaks down when exposed to light, Woodman created art that is both supremely evocative aesthetically and inherently unstable physically. Woodman, Raymond contends, was imaginatively responding to the end of the durable image, a historical reality acknowledged in the way her work plays the ephemeral and evanescent against the monumental and enduring. Raymond focuses on the theoretical and the curatorial issues surrounding Woodman's diazotypes, a thematic and practical distress that haunts much of her later art, especially the artist's book and photo series Some Disordered Interior Geometries and Portrait of a Reputation. Rather than conceiving of Woodman herself as fragile, an artist chronicling and seeming to yearn for her own disappearance, Raymond juxtaposes Woodman's career-spanning documentation of her own image against other post-war witnesses of trauma - an artist standing in the museum ruins where she emerges most distinctly as a figure of postmodernity.
The Gender of Photography
It would be unthinkable now to omit early female pioneers from any survey of photography's history in the Western world. Yet for many years the gendered language of American, British and French photographic literature made it appear that women's interactions with early photography did not count as significant contributions. Using French and English photo journals, cartoons, art criticism, novels, and early career guides aimed at women, this volume will show why and how early photographic clubs, journals, exhibitions, and studios insisted on masculine values and authority, and how Victorian women engaged with photography despite that dominant trend. Focusing on the period before 1890, when women were yet to develop the self-assurance that would lead to broader recognition of the value of their work, this study probes the mechanisms by which exclusion took place and explores how women practiced photography anyway, both as amateurs and professionals. Challenging the marginalization of women's work in the early history of photography, this is essential reading for students and scholars of photography, history and gender studies.
