The Secret to Happiness Is Low Expectations
Any way you look at it, life is full of expectations. Those you have for yourself. Those you have of others. Those others have of you. Mine have always been high. Across the board. It's an obsessive struggle. For many years, success to me meant arranging people, places, and situations in a particular order and then keeping all of them together. Like a puzzle, I could force it to fit and then glue it into place. Firmly. But more often than not, as much as I tried to wrestle it to the ground, my life took many turns I didn't expect. Moving to Texas, having children, working in the same industry for 30 years, buying a lake house, moonlighting as a writer, breast cancer, a divorce, post-marriage romance, my sister moving in, a recurrence of breast cancer, online dating. After 6 decades, there's enough mileage in my rearview mirror for me to come to some conclusions about expectations. Despite my desperation to control every outcome, I can now see the true pearls were mostly unexpected, sometimes entertaining, often hilarious, occasionally profound, and all a part of a patchwork quilt not yet sewn together. It's been a lesson in courage, vulnerability, faith, saying "goodbye" and love. But mostly-humor.

From London Houseboat to Morecambe Mansion
From London Houseboat to Morecambe Mansion is the tale of a London couple old enough to know better. Their exploits were revealed in festive 'newsletters' to friends, who fell about laughing despite Christmas. Fortunately, a few ragged newsletters have been unearthed for posterity by Mildred, a retired archivist. They were discovered in outside lavatories and local dog-baskets and presented here for your enjoyment. In 2016, after years spent rocking on the river Thames, our anti-heroes vacated their floating shed to stumble onto dry land. They were on an upward trajectory - to the wilds of windswept Morecambe Bay.

Generation Griffey
If you still wear your hat backward like Griffey, think all the Prime flavors are dumb because Gatorade Citrus Cooler is the greatest sports drink ever, miss Blockbuster and Tower Records, destroyed your friends in Street Fighter, GoldenEye, and NBA Jam, can quote Tommy Boy and Billy Madison, and never missed Stu Scott on SportsCenter -this book, Generation Griffey, is for you. I ranked 90 of the '90s things that made your dude childhood legendary. A rankfest, if you will. Ninety columns. By me. For you. For US. Why Generation Griffey? First, it's a great name. We've got alliteration, "generation," and the quintessential athlete of that era: Ken Griffey Jr. Junior perfectly defines the era for late '80s and '90s kids because the apex of his career matches our childhood. From the day he joined the Mariners' lineup in 1989 through the next decade, nobody embodied '90s style (the backward hat), swagger (the swing, the smile, the commercials), and coolness (the kicks, the cameos, the crossover stardom) quite like Griffey. His reign atop the sports/celebrity pyramid (alongside Jordan) from his rookie year in Seattle to his move to the Reds in 2000 serves as the perfect bookend for all of us who grew up in the last decade of the last century. See? Generation Griffey is a spectacular name for this book. What are we ranking?Everything. Well, not everything, but the 90 most nostalgic things that make us dudes smile all these years later: the movies we quoted, the athletes we loved, the cards we collected, the foods we devoured, the shows we watched, and more. All of it. Got it? Good. Let's go.
Cartoons Composed Nowhere Near Tintern Abbey

George ffree-Lance
Imagine The Famous Five trapped inside A Clockwork Orange of their own creation. Crumbs! Amongst other issues in his life, former children's favourite, Ricky Buns has writer's block. His sister-in-law and her circle of twenty-something post-punk bored-again friends are looking for a hobby. It is the beginning of the 1980's when The Committee is formed, pre-the internet, mobile phone and social network revolution. And very much pre-the world of political correctness. Ostensibly out to help Ricky they are very much looking to amuse themselves. This stylised black comedy deals with layered levels of persecution and relative reality that boredom and angst have engendered, with the eponymous George unwittingly at both its centre and periphery.
Africa’s Bugged!
An entertaining account of the experiences of Author Ray's personal experiences with the insects of his home country, South Africa, together with incredibly detailed stippled drawings in black ink (and some using watercolours) of these amazing creatures. It is an unusual book in many ways, and a must have for the discerning reader and art lover! Africa Bugged is a sort of 'sequel' to Ray's book 'Whispers of Africa', which can be found on Kindle Select (Amazon.com) - it is a sequel only in terms of the drawings, as Whispers is an altogether different book to this one. Whereas Whispers of Africa depicts drawings of the animals of Africa, this one is of the insects of Southern Africa that Ray has come into contact with and had personal experiences with. Whispers of Africa took Ray ten years to complete - this was not only because the many drawings were complex, but because he was busy (then, as now) writing a whole range of other books simultaneously. You will note that Africa Bugged only covers twelve insects, and this is because Ray decided that instead of waiting ten years for this book to appear, that he would present the first twelve, and then upgrade the book with the following ten, and the ten after that, virtually indefinitely. This way, the reader will have the advantage of seeing some of these amazing creatures much earlier. Another reason for doing the book this way, is because Ray doesn't believe that he will see another ten years of life - he has a heart condition, and having suffered three serious heart-attacks already, he contends that it is possible that he may die at any moment. Thus, he feels it is best that he presents the book as far as he's been able to get, then add to it as he goes along.
LOL at the GOP - Volume 3
This just in - two volumes of political satire poking fun at the Republican Party is not nearly enough. At the rate the GOP is going, 222 volumes may not be enough. That brings us to LOL at the GOP - Volume 3: Guns Don't Kill, Cars Don't Drive, and Ovens Don't Bake. In it, author Craig Rozniecki answers the following questions: Are spoons, credit cards, & ping-pong balls as dangerous as guns? Do guns, churches, breakfasts, & library books have so much in common they may match one another on EHarmony.com? Is it more deadly to shoot fictional characters with a toy gun in a video game than it is to shoot people with an actual gun in real life? Also, with this book, learn all about: Why it's more moral for former South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford to cheat on his wife than it is for a gay couple to get married, why conserving the environment is such a turn-off for conservatives, & what House Speaker John Boehner's favorite three-word phrase is (surprisingly it's not "I love orange!" or "Crying is sexy!").

Your Mom’s Gonna Love Me
One part memoir, one part comedy special, one part crazy first date. Just you and Matt between the covers. What could be better? Matt Rife is well aware that he's both the most loved and the most controversial comic in America today. And honestly, he thinks that's your problem. Matt reveals (without apology, of course) what led him to becoming comedy's biggest lightning rod before he reached thirty, in a story full of bold and hysterical takes on everything from Justin Bieber tramp stamps and rap battles with ex-cons to Matt's struggles with depression and his many brushes with failure before finally hitting it big. Born in trashy backwoods Ohio, Matt was saved by his foul-mouthed but loving grandpa Steve, who fostered his passion for standup. He started hitting comedy clubs before he could even drink, cutting his teeth in front of crowds who dared him to succeed. Matt honed a brand of razor-sharp, brutally honest standup that took no prisoners--and took him to the most famous stages of Atlanta and LA before he finished high school. Along the way, he broke the hearts of MILFs everywhere, finally hit puberty at the ripe age of twenty-two, and never, ever backed down. Full of Matt opening up, at his unfiltered best, about his life for the very first time, this book will give his millions of fans everything they want and more--and might even get his insecure enemies to change their minds.
Wake the F*ck Up

Profane, creative, radically honest, and full of surprises, Wake the Fuck up entertains, and inspires the reader from start to finish while holding up a truth mirror that reflects on our societal flaws and imbalances. In the end this book imparts a powerful spiritual message and succeeds in jolting the human mind enough to ask "How long have WE been asleep?" WARNING: As beautiful and enlightening as this metaphorical book is to read, you should be forewarned that it is not appropriate for children and will offend hyper-sensitive, and closed-minded people. But then again as its fan, you'll have an attitude of 'why cry over spilled milk - when you can milk another cow!

I might be Wrong, but I'm Not
When I have episodes of the past, Dr. Lewis recommended I walk, get out of the house, read, exercise, or write. He said, "Write about what you see, what you hear, people making fools of themselves, good people, bad people, funny people, coworkers-people in general." I may sound homophobic, prejudiced, racist, a son of a b--, but I just got my own humor. It sounds f-- up, but it's still humor. A veteran putting his PTSD to good use. I want to dedicate this book to all my vet brothers and sisters and to people who like to travel and read. This book is called I Might Be Wrong, but I'm Not.
The Wrong Sheep
Baa baa black sheep, have you any wool? Yes! But you can't have it! My paddock is full of sheep. They eat grass and hang out together and jump fences. But not me. I must be the wrong sheep... I like water slides, icecream, Gameboys and playing hide and seek. Come and see how this little black sheep refuses to fit in and laugh with the whole family. A great gift for young kids and part of the animal series. Belly laughs and giggles garunteed!
