What if you learned that poor care and functioning of your genes accelerates aging and undermines your quality of life? And what if you were told that you have the power to change that-through nutrition and specific nutrients? In this book, Curro Clavero guides you through the fascinating world of nutritional epigenetics, a groundbreaking science reshaping our understanding of health, disease, and longevity. With clarity, simplicity, and a practical approach, the author breaks down the epigenetic mechanisms that govern our lives. At the core of this regulation lies the methylation cycle and two key molecules: S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe), essential for cell differentiation and genomic stability, and the harmful homocysteine. You'll learn how to boost the former and reduce the latter. The book also explores conditions linked to epigenetic imbalances, including cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular, neurodegenerative, and psychiatric diseases, as well as autoimmune disorders, autism, migraines, allergies, epilepsy, and addictions. Built on a solid scientific foundation, the author offers practical strategies to counteract these effects through diet and lifestyle choices.Nutritional Epigenetics blends scientific rigor with a practical, reader- friendly approach. Integrated Science to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals
The book 'Integrated Science to achieve Sustainable Development Goals' debates how different fields of study can confront or mitigate problems or contribute together to the development of society. In brief, it is a book about the interdisciplinarity of knowledge surrounding the topics in society that are involved in the world development agenda. There is an increasing recognition of the importance of achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs) set in the UN agenda 2030. The book seeks to address the need for the integration of multidisciplinary fields of knowledge to achieve the seventeen SDGs. The book was developed with contributions from established and well-known scholars in different fields. It is interdisciplinary in nature and international in scope, intending to bring out a collection of state-of-the-art/cutting-edge knowledge on policies to achieve the 17 SDGs as well as a range of actionable recommendations for future developments in the different fields with the purpose of addressing the Agenda 2030. The integration of different disciplines (including sociology, health, education, psychology, business, economics, political science, environmental studies and urban planning) in a complex problem like societal development gives this book the challenge to be an authoritative tool with guidelines for the entire community and for policymakers as well. Each chapter presents the state of the art of a topic considered important to achieve SDGs. The authors explain how their field contributes to the achievement of one or more SDGs, including the main theories and examples of empirical evidence that may guide society in using such knowledge to contribute to societal impact.
Airborne Pollen Analysis for Pollinosis Patients Using Immunochemical Method and Other Methods
He established a method to measure pollen allergens that cause pollinosis. He established a method to quantify allergens by adsorbing pollen allergens to a membrane that adsorbs proteins, as well as a method to detect minute amounts of airborne allergens by collecting air samples, extracting the allergens, and quantifying them using an ultra-sensitive method called radical immunoassay. The author has been interested in astrobiology since he was young, and in between studying particles floating in the local area, he has thought about the movement of life in space, and has also become interested in the radiation resistance of lichens and their movement in space. In 1999, he received the 1999 Society Encouragement Award from the Japanese Society of Palynology.

WORKBOOK for Evidence-Informed Health Policy, Revised Second Edition
This Student Workbook for Evidence-Informed Health Policy, Revised Second Edition, is designed to be a companion to the textbook and provides learning activities and case studies to deepen your understanding of government structure, function, and evidence-informed health policymaking. Each learning activity begins with objectives, and many suggest accompanying resource material or additional external resources, as well as specific instructions. What happens in health policy at local, state, and federal levels directly affects patients, nurses, and nursing practice. Some healthcare professionals, though, are intimidated by the complex and often nonlinear policy process or simply don't know how to take the first step toward implementing policy change. In the second edition of Evidence-Informed Health Policy, authors Jacqueline M. Loversidge and Joyce Zurmehly demystify health policymaking and equip nurses and other healthcare professionals with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to navigate the first of many steps into health policy. This book translates the EBP language of clinical decision-making into an evidence-informed health policy (EIHP) model-a foundation for integrating evidence into health policymaking and leveraging dialogue with stakeholders. This revised edition includes: - Fresh perspectives on the use of evidence to inform smart health policy - Lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic and the global crisis to more effectively strategize for sound policy informed by the best science - A new visual representation of the EIHP model with added descriptions- Beyond-borders strategies to develop a health policy worldview

Trichomoniasis negligence
Vaginal discharge constitutes an important symptom in women attending outpatient clinics of RTI/STI, Medicine and Obs & Gyne. Some of these cases are due to sexually transmitted diseases like such as N. gonorrheae, C. trachomatis and T. vaginalis and can lead to adverse reproductive health and co-infection with HIV. The control of these infections can lead to substantial reduction in the transmission of HIV. Given the high cost of diagnosis, National Aids Control Organization advocates syndromic case management of patients with genitourinary complaints and treatment with drugs that target the most frequent etiological agents. However, it can lead to emergence of antibiotic resistant strains due to overtreatment. The utility of syndromic case management (SCM) is not as good in the treatment of vaginal discharge syndrome due to its limitations of distinction between cervicitis and vaginitis. The narrative of this book critically appraises the syndromic approach to trichomoniasis and other STIs, discusses the challenges that it faces, and offers suggestions to improve its performance.
