Appendicitis
Appendicitis involves inflammation of the vermiform appendix, which is associated with a systemic inflammatory response in humans. Emergency surgical treatment is often necessary as it is the leading cause of surgery-related mortality. However, correct diagnosis remains a challenge due to variations in symptoms. This study assessed the impact of gender, seasonal variations, and the immunohistochemical expression of the IL 6 and 8 cytokines in patients with appendicitis at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa. A total of 313 patients diagnosed with appendicitis and did appendicectomy were enrolled in the research from January 2015 to December 2020. The findings indicate that seasonal changes influence the outcome of appendicitis, with a statistically significant rise in cases reported during summer in comparison to winter. Among the studied subjects, females constituted a higher percentage than males, making up 56.9% (n=178) while males represented 43.1% (n = 135). Interleukins 6 and 8 were markedly expressed in appendix tissues regardless of age, gender, or season.

Ayurveda maintains 3 essential humours, which cause disease if they become imbalanced. These three humours known as 'Vata', 'Pita', and 'Kapha' are usually translated in English as Wind, Bile and Phlegm. Occasionally, in the surgical tradition, a fourth humour - blood - was added. Surgery and physical Ayurveda became two separate traditions; surgery being more important amongst the Buddhists, who for one reason or another are less hung up about ritual purity and contact with taboo bodily products such as blood. There was once a celebrated doctor called Charaka who lived in the second century. He was one of the greatest physicians who have ever lived. These same Gods, he says, therefore prepared the way for Ayurveda, which literally means the 'science of longevity' to be taught to the human race. However, growing concerns about their cardiovascular and respiratory adverse effects - especially in elderly patients with multiple comorbidities - necessitate the exploration of alternative therapies with safer profiles and potentially superior efficacy.This work presents the findings of a systematic review and meta-analysis aimed at identifying and evaluating non-acetylcholinesterase treatments for cognitive decline in patients with MCI, AD, or in individuals aged 65 years and above. We conducted a rigorous literature search of PubMed and the Cochrane Library, covering studies published between January 1, 1990, and September 30, 2024. Eligible studies included randomized clinical trials and longitudinal follow-ups that utilized standardized neurological assessments to measure cognitive outcomes.

Endometrium in Perimenopausal Abnormal Uterine Bleeding
A normal endometrial cycle is associated with changes in both endometrial glands and stroma that allow the pathologist to diagnose microscopically the phase of menstrual cycle. Irregular menstrual bleeding and menorrhagia occur frequently among perimenopausal women. Any women over the age of 40 years with menorrhagia or other forms of increased vaginal bleeding should undergo endometrial biopsy in order to detect atypical endometrial hyperplasia and endometrial carcinoma. The incidence of malignant neoplasms of the uterus increases rapidly in women over the age of 40 years. In view the high incidence of premalignant and malignant endometrial lesions in perimenopausal patients with abnormal bleeding pattern and a relatively few studies in literature, this study focus on histomorphological spectrum of endometrial changes in perimenopausal abnormal uterine bleeding.

The unexpected and sudden transitions to work from home due to COVID- 19 pandemic has led to lifestyle and behaviour changes that severely affects the physical and mental well-being. The objective of the study is to understand the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on musculoskeletal and non-musculoskeletal factors of health among healthy individuals working from home. The cross-sectional study was conducted between April 2022 - December 2022 through online questionnaire that covers questions related to sociodemographic, work home environment characteristics, musculoskeletal and non-musculoskeletal issues. Individuals aged between 21-60 years and working from home were included. Descriptive statistics, independent t-test and Pearson correlation were analyzed using SPSS Version 26.Results: Study included 533 participants (21-40 years= 358, 41-60 years= 175) to assess the health issues among the healthy individuals working from home in COVID- 19 pandemic. We categorized these health issues in musculoskeletal and non- musculoskeletal issues.
