Study of Refractory COD Removal from Pharmaceutical Wastewater
This study investigates the treatment of pharmaceutical wastewater containing recalcitrant, non-biodegradable compounds that are inadequately addressed by conventional treatment methods. The objectives include improving wastewater biodegradability and comparing the efficacy of various advanced treatment approaches. Untreated wastewater samples were collected from a pharmaceutical intermediate manufacturing unit. Initial characterization, including pH measurement and acute toxicity assessment, was conducted. Primary treatment involved neutralization, coagulation, flocculation, and settling. Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) such as H₂O₂, TiO₂/H₂O₂, Fe簡⁺/H₂O₂ (Fenton), HCO₃⁻, and Fe簡⁺/H₂O₂/O₃ (Fentozone) were applied.Post-treatment analyses revealed varied improvements in biodegradability (BOD/COD ratio). The Fentozone process emerged as the most effective, achieving a BOD/COD improvement of 0.43 after 60 minutes. Comparative results showed moderate improvements with TiO₂/H₂O₂ (0.32) and Fe簡⁺/H₂O₂ (0.30), while H₂O₂ alone achieved a marginal improvement of 0.26. No improvement was observed with HCO₃⁻treatment.In conclusion, the Fentozone process proves to be a promising technology.
Method Development and Validation for Voriconazole Estimation
A rapid, sensitive, and specific RP-HPLC method with UV detection was developed and validated for the determination of voriconazole. Chromatography was performed on an Enable C18 G column (250 ? 4.6 mm) in isocratic mode, using a mobile phase of methanol and acetonitrile (60:40, v/v). The flow rate was set at 1 mL/min, and the effluent was monitored at 223 nm. Chromatographic analysis revealed a main peak for voriconazole at a retention time of 2.841 minutes. Methanol was selected as the solvent for the analysis, with the λmax determined to be 223 nm. The method exhibited linearity over a concentration range of 5-30 繕g/mL. Validation parameters, including linearity, range, precision, accuracy, limit of detection (LOD), and limit of quantitation (LOQ), were assessed and met the required standards.

Biological Activities and Potential Applications of Phytotoxins
This reprint focuses on the isolation and characterization of some phytotoxins and the evaluation of their biological activities for potential application in different fields. Plants and microbes are able to produce several specialized (secondary) metabolites belonging to different classes of natural compounds. Among them, phytotoxins are substances that are poisonous or toxic to plants. They seem to play an important role in plant-pathogen interactions when produced by phytopathogenic fungi or bacteria, while plant-produced phytotoxins-including allelochemicals-seem to be involved in plant-plant interactions. Thus, the determination of their chemical structure and their identification are fundamental for chemical ecology and for understanding their function. However, most of these compounds have already shown other interesting biological activities and potential applications in fields such as agriculture or medicine. In fact, some phytotoxins have already been proposed for the development of biopesticides, cosmetics, and drugs.

Floating Drug Delivery Systems are retained in the stomach for a longer time and assist in improving the oral controlled delivery of drugs that have an absorption window in the particular region of the GI tract as well as for controlling the release of the drug having site-specific absorption limitationZaleplon is a highly effective sedative-hypnotic that was used as a model drug to develop a controlled-release formulation. Zaleplon exhibits pH-dependent solubility. It is more soluble in acidic pH and slightly soluble in neutral or alkaline conditions (intestinal environment). Hence an attempt was made to develop a gastroretentive delivery system Zaleplon which increased the bioavailability of Zaleplon and also reduced the frequency of administration, thereby improving patient compliance and therapeutic efficacy.
Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) in HIV/AIDS patients
It was found that patients receiving ZLN show significant increase in levels of Triglycerides, Indirect Bilirubin serum creatinine and shows slight increase in levels of Total Bilirubin, and SGPT and show significant decrease in HB levels. Patients receiving TLE drug combination shows significant increase in levels of SGPT, Indirect Bilirubin, serum creatinine and shows slight increase in levels of Total cholesterol, CD4 count and slight decrease in levels of RBC, VLDL. So, the systems that were mostly affected due to ART therapy were found to be hepatic and renal systems along with significant alterations in the lipid profile. In order to slow down the deterioration process, drug use must be optimized along with the periodic monitoring of the systems.

Clotrimazole is an imidazole derivative with a broad spectrum of anti-mycotic activity. The Present investigation is the design and characterization of Novel Emulgel of Clotrimazole. Nine different formulations of Emulgel were prepared by the proposed method of preparation by Mohammad et.al (2004), varying with different 2 different polymers of gelling agent such as Carbopol 934 and HPMC K15 M and their combinations in different ratios. All the Formulations were characterized for physical evaluation, drug content, Viscosity, spreadability, extrudability, and In-vitro Drug release studies. Stability studies were revealed with marginal differenceswith a good stability. Also this study refers to the kinetic data of the drug release studies.

Core and cup tablet of Salbutamol sulphate for chronotherapeutic delivery was prepared to increase the effectiveness of drug by using optimization technique.The formulation contains three components a core tablet, impermeable layer and soluble hydrophilic polymer layer. The core tablet contains salbutamol sulphate drug and other excipients, impermeable layer is made up of Ethyl cellulose (EC), and the polymer layer is made of HPMC 15cps and HPMC 50cps. In this work the key ingredients like HPMC 15cps and HPMC 50cps were optimized by using 32 Factorial designing in this various proportions of HPMC 15cps and HPMC 50cps (polymers) were used in different levels in the preparation of core in cup tablet.

Orally Disintegrating Tablets of Amlodipine Besylate
In the present study, orally disintegrating tablets (ODTs) of amlodipine besylate was prepared by using two types of natural super disintegrants in different ratios by direct compression method. The basic approach followed in this study was to achieve rapid disintegration. The evaluation of ODTs of amlodipine was performed for general appearance, physical parameters such as hardness, friability, wetting time, weight variation, uniformity of drug content, in vitro disintegration, in vitro dissolution studies. The above-mentioned tests were performed using the official procedures and with modified testing procedures collected from various research articles. Further the ODT formulations were subjected to further evaluation testing.

Phytochemical Screening & Activity of M.sapientum & P.dactylifera Leaf
The plants, Musa sapientum and Phoenix dactylifera, have been selected on the basis of its presence in Ayurveda as well as having its many traditional uses whereas not properly and scientifically explored or reported so far. Traditionally, the plants are used against diarrhea, diabetes and menorrhagia, otalgia, haemoptysis and also used as an anthelmintic etc. Impetuses have been given on the leaves of those plants for the benefits of researchers and manufacturers of formulations made from it. Further future work may be done on the leaves of those plants on other aspects, our findings say so. The anti-ulcer activity was studied and found to be new compounds (from the point of scientific evaluation) have been reported first time even though the plants (Musa sapientum and Phoenix dactylifera). Isolation and structure elucidation of certain compounds from the leaves of those plants have been done successfully, in two of the cases at least. Present work has covered all the above aspects, which have been presented in 10 chapters in a logical sequence with relevant references annexed to each chapter. In the conclusion, all the observations and findings have been placed.
The effect of COVID-19 on Mental Health
The Corona virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a pandemic that emerged for the first time in Wuhan, China, and spreads all over the world between December 2019 and early 2020. The state of lock-down in many parts of the world, which are contributing largely to the global economy has led to the halting of services and products. Along with the economy impacts, the ever-increasing morbidity and mortality due to COVID-19 is the biggest setback. The prevalence of epidemics accentuates or creates new stressors. The aim of our study is to determine the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health in the Indian population and their coping strategies. We found out anxiety as the prevalent problem among the participants and being female and under medical stream were associated with anxiety. Women need special attention as they were more vulnerable than evil. Finally, policymakers also need to care for younger adults, mostly students and individuals under the medical stream.

Knee osteoarthritis related disability is high in the elderly population. Patients feel difficulty in walking/ jogging, an important and easy option to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Stiffness, pain, other knee related symptoms may limit the patients' functional status and recreational activities. Thus, these individuals suffer from progressive impact on their activities of daily living and leads to loss in leisure, social life, sleeping quality and thus decrease in their quality of life. Worse QoL in patients with knee OA is also associated with severity of clinical manifestations and radiographic features. The QoL of knee OA patients was found to be significantly poorer than QoL compared to healthy patients (Non-OA patients).

Initially developed to assess the posterior segment, particularly the macula and optic nerve, OCT has since expanded its applications to the anterior segment, enabling a detailed analysis of structures such as the cornea, anterior chamber, and iridocorneal angle. Recent innovations, such as intraoperative OCT, en face OCT, and wide-field OCT, have provided new insights into complex ocular structures such as the choroid, vitreous, lens, and ciliary muscle. These advancements have also improved surgical precision and postoperative evaluation in various ophthalmological subspecialties, including the retina, cornea, and glaucoma. This Special Issue reprint presents a collection of original research articles and reviews that discuss the current state of the art, address existing knowledge gaps, and highlight the clinical impact of OCT in enhancing the diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of ophthalmic conditions.

Dispensing is the pharmaceutical act that combines the dispensing of drugs, the pharmaceutical analysis of the medical prescription and the provision of information and advice necessary for the proper use of drugs (37).To study the dispensing of anticancer drugs in the M'PEWO private pharmacy from August 2023 to July 2024.This was a cross-sectional study with a 6-month survey period from December 1, 2023 to May 31, 2024.The study involved 102 registered prescriptions belonging to 85 patients. Women were more frequent. The [46 - 60] age group accounted for 37.7%. The mean age was 48.86 簣 16.45 years. Breast and gastric cancer were the most common, each accounting for 14.1%. Almost all prescriptions were written by medical specialists. All were legible, and most were sealed and dated. Availability of anticancer molecules was 99%...
