Older Adults
The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA) is a large-scale, nationally representative study of people aged 50 and over in Ireland. It is the most ambitious study of ageing ever carried out in Ireland and represents a step-change in terms of data/ knowledge/ understanding of ageing with which to inform policy and novel research.More than 8,000 people aged 50 and over accepted the invitation to participate in the first wave of TILDA, and the majority of these also agreed to undertake a comprehensive health assessment. The role of the family is often emphasised in Ireland, but to date there is little evidence on what families provide to older adults, what older adults give to their families. TILDA enables a detailed analysis of the relationship of older adults to their families/ communities in terms of the contact that older people have with family members, the exchanges that take place within families and the broader networks of help/ support among friends and neighbours. The findings support an optimistic view that the majority of older people live relatively near to their children/ surviving parents, have frequent contact with them, and inter-generational transfers are common.

Women’s Midlife Health and Wellness
Midlife is the stage in the life of a human being between young adulthood and the onset of old age. It is generally assumed to fall in the bracket of 45 to 65 years of age. This period is characterized by the slowing down of the boy, sensitivity to diet, stress and substance abuse. During midlife, several health conditions may develop like fibroids, migraine and systemic lupus erythematosus. This makes midlife a period warranting attention for gynecologic and hormone-sensitive conditions. Women further experience menopause around the age of 50, which ends their fertility. Over the past decades, studies have advanced the understanding of ovarian aging and its relationship to cardiovascular, bone, cognitive and musculoskeletal health. Signs of aging may become prominent and more rapid in women with osteoporosis. Decline in physical fitness such as reduction in aerobic performance and decrease in maximal heart rate, as well as changes in the skin occur in midlife. Healthy behavior, in particular the maintenance of healthy body weight and physical activity can moderate certain negative changes. Therefore, this period constitutes a critical period for optimizing health and functioning, and preventing chronic diseases. This book is compiled in such a manner, that it will provide in-depth knowledge about women's midlife health and wellness. It presents researches and studies performed by experts across the globe. It is a vital tool for all researching or studying women's health as it gives incredible insights into emerging trends and concepts

Toxic Nursing, Second EditionManaging Bullying, Bad Attitudes, and Total Turmoil
Today's nurse managers--tasked with a wide array of responsibilities from staffing and budgeting to promoting safe and effective patient care--face unprecedented demands in their role as leaders of the largest healthcare workforce in the industry. They must be clinically competent, relationally savvy, and administratively gifted--and find the time to create and sustain a healthy work environment. In addition to those demands, the lopsided aging of the population has had a double impact: More nurses are retiring from the profession at the same time as elderly baby boomers require increasingly complex and costly care. As nursing workforce retirements increase, a continued push for effective leadership will be critical to healthcare outcomes in the coming decades. As workforce shortages continue, it will be critical to educate managers who can advocate for, support, and empower staff. Healthcare organizations have a duty to provide nurse managers with the tools and support needed to manage effectively. Toxic Nursing is an integral part of that education. Each chapter begins with an overview of particular areas where nurse toxicity often arises. Following that is a section titled "Clearing Toxicity: Scenarios, Insights, and Reflections." Here there are scenarios based on real-life accounts, with insight and advice from nurse leaders--a group of 31 experts in nursing management who were asked to respond to the narratives from the perspective of preventing, addressing, or minimizing the consequences of conflict. Experts were asked to avoid citing references and rely on their own experiences and intuitive skills to provide practical advice about the situation. Following the "Nurse Leader Insight" section are "Reflections" with prompts to help readers explore the issues presented. At the end of each chapter is a section called "Fostering Cultural Change" that can help guide you as you explore with your staff methods to decrease toxicity and promote a healthier and more satisfying work environment. Toxic Nursing, Second Edition helps nurses--from bedside nurses to charge nurses to nurse managers--navigate the nuances and gray areas of toxic behavior.

Krankenkassen in Deutschland.

Birth Control
Birth control offers women the opportunity to prevent pregnancy, plan and space their births, or have no births at all. And yet, in the United States, half of all pregnancies remain unintended, and access to birth control is beset by inequities in education, access, and coverage. Research indicates that women are familiar with the range of contraceptive methods available today. But the persistently high rates of unintended pregnancy, combined with common dissatisfaction and discontinuation, suggest that women's contraceptive needs continue to be unmet. Birth Control: What Everyone Needs to Know(R) will offer more than a user's guide to available means of contraception: it will examine how supported family-planning infrastructure impacts society as a whole. Through reviews of policy, scientific literature, and supplemental interviews with women, it will uncover women's concerns and apprehensions about contraception, as well as the ways birth control empowers women and increases access to educational and professional opportunities. It will provide an overview the history of birth control, the risks and benefits of contraception, the role of menstruation, and the future of birth control. The goal of this book is to provide accurate, unbiased scientific information about contraception in the context of women's lived experiences and the realities of how individuals make decisions about birth control.
