An Introduction To Chemical Pharmacology; Pharmacodynamics In Relation To Chemistry
Where chemistry meets the living body: precise observation, purposeful explanation. A foundational text for learners. In this measured account Alister McGuigan brings chemical reasoning to pharmacodynamics, tracing drug action mechanisms to their molecular logic with methodical clarity. Part chemical pharmacology textbook, part pharmacodynamics reference guide and part pharmaceutical chemistry manual, the work sets out medicinal chemistry basics alongside broader biochemical pharmacology topics that reward careful reading. The author writes with an economy that favours conceptual clarity: technical terms are unpacked through chemical illustration rather than opaque jargon. That balance makes the book both approachable for the curious and suitably rigorous for formal study; it is a dependable companion for anyone following a university pharmacology course or seeking a grounded medical student resource. Republished by Alpha Editions in a careful modern edition, this volume preserves the spirit of the original while making it effortless to enjoy today - a heritage title prepared for readers and collectors alike. As a window into early 20th century science, it stands among classic pharmacology texts as an academic chemistry compendium that records how chemical thought underpinned early theories of drug effect. For historians and practitioners alike, McGuigan's pages illuminate the thinking behind contemporary notions of dose, affinity and response without resorting to presentist gloss. Collectors assembling a foundational pharmacy collection will prize the book's historical resonance; those seeking clear discussions of drug action mechanisms and medicinal chemistry basics will find substantive, methodical material. Equally attractive to casual readers interested in the history of medicine and to classic literature collectors building specialist shelves, this edition offers direct access to a formative scientific voice and a quietly influential chapter in biochemical pharmacology topics. Measured exposition makes it suitable for classroom reference, special collections and personal study. Librarians and historians of medicine will prize the volume's directness; practising scientists and curious readers alike will welcome its sober approach to the chemistry of drug effect. Presented with modern clarity yet faithful to its original voice, this edition bridges past and present.

Practice Nursing
Practice Nurses play an important and pivotal role in healthcare providing a range of interventions and services to patients in General Practice and Primary Care settings. While most Practice Nurses work in GP surgeries and doctor led clinics, others are working as autonomous practitioners in community practices and nurse led centres.Practice Nurses are presented with an ever increasing range of conditions and patient needs as the role is constantly changing and evolving. The extended roles and range of clinical skills which may be provided by a Practice Nurse depend on the needs of the patient and the qualifications, skills, competencies and scope of practice of each individual Practice Nurse (NMBI, 2015). Practice Nurses have a responsibility to ensure that they are suitably qualified, skilled and competent in carrying out each clinical procedure and intervention that they undertake. Developing guidelines for clinical practice is an important part of the Practice Nurse role, but the task of researching, developing and producing guidelines is time-consuming, and it can be difficult to find the information required as and when needed. Practice Nursing: Clinical Guidelines and Procedures in Practice written by a Practice Nurse, and based on local and national guidelines, provides a comprehensive overview and a step by step guide for nurses carrying out a wide range of clinical procedures in practice. The book contains over 100 clinical guidelines and procedures with illustrations, tables, charts and diagrams. In producing these clinical guidelines, the author hopes that this book will prove useful as a resource and reference guide for other nurses in general practice and primary care settings.
Practice Pearls
Practice Pearls was specifically written with the novel Nurse Practitioner and the Registered Nurse contemplating NP school in mind. This comprehensive guide aims to teach: how to approach the new world of provider when choosing your new workplace interest, how to avoid pitfalls of unsafe work conditions while remaining flexible, how to market yourself while maintaining realistic expectations, how to communicate with your new physician colleagues as a peer and not subordinate, how to manage your patient as a new provider safely, and most importantly how to confidently transition from the role of bedside nurse to provider. This information is necessary to maintain workplace satisfaction, happiness, and ultimate success. Two things to keep in mind, health is wealth, and without happiness, your career and hard work are null. This guide will give the novel APRN the preparation piece that is lacking in the educational institutions, but necessary for workplace happiness and lack of burnout/regret.

Fragility Fracture Nursing
This open access book aims to provide a comprehensive but practical overview of the knowledge required for the assessment and management of the older adult with or at risk of fragility fracture. It considers this from the perspectives of all of the settings in which this group of patients receive nursing care. Globally, a fragility fracture is estimated to occur every 3 seconds. This amounts to 25 000 fractures per day or 9 million per year. The financial costs are reported to be: 32 billion EUR per year in Europe and 20 billon USD in the United States. As the population of China ages, the cost of hip fracture care there is likely to reach 1.25 billion USD by 2020 and 265 billion by 2050 (International Osteoporosis Foundation 2016). Consequently, the need for nursing for patients with fragility fracture across the world is immense. Fragility fracture is one of the foremost challenges for health care providers, and the impact of each one of those expected 9 million hip fractures is significant pain, disability, reduced quality of life, loss of independence and decreased life expectancy. There is a need for coordinated, multi-disciplinary models of care for secondary fracture prevention based on the increasing evidence that such models make a difference. There is also a need to promote and facilitate high quality, evidence-based effective care to those who suffer a fragility fracture with a focus on the best outcomes for recovery, rehabilitation and secondary prevention of further fracture. The care community has to understand better the experience of fragility fracture from the perspective of the patient so that direct improvements in care can be based on the perspectives of the users. This book supports these needs by providing a comprehensive approach to nursing practice in fragility fracture care.; Provides a comprehensive discussion of nursing the frail older person with a fragility fracture across Europe Based on a two-day workshop of like-minded specialist and advanced nurses from over 20 countries Acts as the course text/reader for a Europe-wide education programme in all relevant settings (Emergency Department, Fracture Clinic, Trauma Unit, Orthopaedic Ward, Rehabilitation setting) Open Access This work was published by Saint Philip Street Press pursuant to a Creative Commons license permitting commercial use. Leistungsportfolio von eProcurement Transaktionsplattformen. Alleinstellungsmerkmale und Charakteristika
Diplomarbeit aus dem Jahr 2009 im Fachbereich Gesundheit - Digital Health Management, Note: 2,0, Hochschule Osnabr羹ck (Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaften), Veranstaltung: Krankenhausmanagement, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In dieser Arbeit werden die Leistungsportfolios der gr繹?ten Transaktionsplattformen im deutschen Gesundheitswesen - Global Healthcare Exchange (GHX), Gesellschaft f羹r Standardprozesse im Gesundheitswesen (GSG), Health Business Solutions (HBS) und Medical Columbus (MC) - dargestellt und kritisch analysiert.

Surviving Cancer, COVID-19, and Disease
NEW EDITION FEATURING IVERMECTIN: JUST RELEASED MARCH 1st, 2021 ICU specialist Dr. Pierre Kory told the US Senate and the world about the lifesaving repurposed drug, Ivermectin, on December 8, 2021. He called it the solution to the Pandemic. Originally FDA approved to treat parasites; Ivermectin has shown incredible effectiveness against COVID-19. Many people, including actor Louis Gossett Jr or grandmother Judith Smentkiewicz, report rapid turnarounds even from the brink of death. Dr. Martin Gill says Ivermectin is more effective than any other drug against COVID-19. "I think there is enough evidence now to say this is the drug we have been waiting for. I've been using it literally since April with really spectacular results." - It is nearly 100% effective at prevention. Dr. Kory notes, "If you take it, you will not get sick." However, its most profound benefits are in hospitalized patients, where it can save even the sickest patients on ventilators. Perhaps most intriguing is that Ivermectin seems to help prevent the "Long Hauler's Syndrome." This refers to a group of COVID survivors who have long-term problems with lung scarring, shortness of breath or clotting disorders. One has to ask the question that if Ivermectin is so effective, then why is it not in widespread use in the US? The answer is the elephant in the room, and Dr. Kory says he is "severely troubled" by the fact the NIH, the FDA, and the CDC have not reviewed repurposed drugs in an attempt to treat this disease. And that everything has been about expensive and pharmacologically-engineered drugs. The problem is that repurposed drugs are cheap and unprofitable. There is no incentive to study them. It is revealing that many physicians and privileged scientists in the know already take advantage of repurposed drugs to treat and even cure their own terminal cancers. In the book, Dr. Justus R. Hope describes their stories and how they did it, and how non-physicians can do the same. - "It is tragically unfair that most people never hear about repurposed drugs." Dr. Hope aims to change that by making repurposed drugs a household name. "Repurposed drugs in my opinion should be offered in all cases of terminal cancer. They also should have been added long ago as cancer preventative agents." In this book, Dr. Hope discusses lifesaving repurposed drugs and supplements that work not just against COVID-19 but against terminal cancer. Specific combinations are reviewed along with referenced studies and supporting scientific evidence. Originally written to help his friend survive brain cancer, this book is an excellent scientific reference for anyone seeking to find innovative solutions for preventing and treating cancers, viruses, and diseases.- This book explains in easy-to-understand words the science behind repurposed drugs, pills that can kill cancer stem cells, the roots of cancer. Cancer stem cells are STIMULATED to REGROW and SPREAD and create resistance by standard treatments of chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation - THIS is the reason "cancers return and kill patients almost half the time." There are ways to stop cancer stem cells. The book has been praised by cancer researchers around the world: "I consider this a great work." by Marc-Eric Halatsch, MD, PhD, Head, Brain Tumor Research, Ulm University Hospital

Preventing Dementia?
The conceptualization of dementia has changed dramatically in recent years with the claim that, through early detection and by controlling several risk factors, a prevention of dementia is possible. Although encouraging and providing hope against this feared condition, this claim is open to scrutiny. This volume looks at how this new conceptualization ignores many of the factors which influence a dementia sufferers' prognosis, including their history with education, food and exercise as well as their living in different epistemic cultures. The central aim is to question the concept of prevention and analyze its impact on aging people and aging societies.
