The Crucial Role of Insurance in Economic Development
Insurance plays a crucial role in economic development by providing financial protection against unexpected risks and losses. It helps individuals and businesses to recover from financial setbacks, continue operating, and invest in the future. One of the most important ways that insurance contributes to economic development is by reducing uncertainty. Thriving with Diabetes Navigating Psychological Challenges And Social Support
Product Description: Thriving with Diabetes: Your Guide to Overcoming Psychological Challenges and Finding Vital Social SupportA Growing Epidemic: Diabetes UnveiledDiabetes Mellitus, a chronic metabolic disorder, is on the rise, affecting millions of lives globally every year. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), an alarming 347 million people worldwide grapple with diabetes. Unless we find better control or a cure, WHO projects diabetes to become the 7th leading cause of death by 2030. India, bearing the weight of 65.1 million diabetics, has earned the ominous title of the "Diabetic Capital" of the world (International Diabetes Federation 2013).Understanding DiabetesDiabetes mellitus encompasses a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia, a condition resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. In a healthy body, glucose plays a pivotal role as the primary source of energy. It's the fuel that keeps us going. During digestion, the carbohydrates we consume break down into glucose, which enters the bloodstream and fuels our cells. However, in diabetes, this metabolic harmony is disrupted. The body struggles to metabolize food correctly due to inadequate insulin supply or efficiency. The pancreas, nestled behind the stomach, holds the key, producing insulin and glucagon.Normally, the pancreas releases insulin in perfect proportion to the blood glucose level, acting like a conductor leading an orchestra of metabolic processes. But in diabetes, this coordination falters. It's as if the conductor loses their baton, leading to a mismatch between insulin supply and blood glucose levels.Unlock the Secrets to Thriving with Diabetes"Thriving with Diabetes" is your comprehensive guide to navigating the labyrinth of psychological challenges that diabetes presents. Appeal of Insurance
Insurance today is a global economic colossus and a fixture in the developed countries of the world. Dependant upon a considerable dose of moral exhortation and enlightened appeal, the insurance industry has become a pervasive agent of social and economic control through its delineation of acceptable (compensated) and unacceptable (uncompensated) risk. The Appeal of Insurance traces the ways in which insurance, over the past three centuries, has grown in concert with a clientele largely of its own making. Drawing on the fields of history, sociology, criminology and economics, these essays break new ground in insurance studies by illuminating the dialectical relationship between the expansion of the insurance business and the public demand for economic and social security.

Markets vs Public Health Systems
Problems related to the functioning of public healthcare systems encourage the search for alternative solutions, for example to ensure improved access to medical services. However, these proposals also require appropriate theoretical support to better present and apply them. This book draws on Austrian Economics to provide a theoretical framework to support greater involvement of the private sector to improve inefficiencies in public healthcare. The Austrian School of Economics has a solid theoretical output describing and explaining the functioning of many aspects of the market economy (e.g. money, prices, interest rate, or capital). This work applies those principles to a market-based healthcare system and its individual elements, including health insurance. The study in these chapters is divided into two parts. The first part contains the theoretical aspects of the functioning of a complete market system. Particular importance is placed on presenting health insurance as a market institution and exploring its role in the market system. This examination also includes an analysis of alternative forms of financing access to medical services, such as direct payments, medical savings accounts, medical subscriptions, and charity. Additionally, solid counterarguments are provided for so-called market failures: asymmetric information, public goods, and monopolies. The second part of the book explores the theoretical aspects of interventionism and the functioning of public systems, and aims to better highlight the sources of the associated problems. This work provides an important contribution to the literature on health economics, healthcare management and policy, and Austrian Economics more broadly. It is essential reading for health economists and those holding key public positions related to healthcare. Dying to Save You
Americans are suffering from chronic disease, and our healthcare system can't save us. Sometimes it makes us worse. In fact, we don't have a healthcare system in this country-we have a four-trillion-dollar sickcare system that profits off people struggling with chronic disease. Primary care doctors are responsible for keeping us healthy, but our primary care system is broken. Worse, the policies and science that led to great medical advances in the past are insufficient to help in the future. Nothing seems to be working. But a paradigm shift is underway that is about to change everything. In Dying to Save You, Dr. William Queale takes you behind the scenes of our sickcare system. He uses deeply personal stories to explain how we got here and how systems thinking can get us out. But Dying to Save You isn't just about medicine, science, and healthcare policy. This book is about you-and how you can stay out of the sickcare system altogether.
