Teaching mathematics
The best thing we can do with knowledge is to share it, the advances in society prove it, and this is the raison d'礙tre of this book. To make available to anyone who may be interested in the teaching-learning of mathematics, our own experiences and some of the knowledge that has been recorded throughout our own teaching practice at the secondary and high school levels, and most of the time at university. Thus, with this book we want to put our own grain of sand in the immense sea of educational work in mathematics. We hope that through the ideas, proposals and theories presented here, the reader will be able to incorporate into his or her teaching practice - and why not, learning practice as well - elements that will allow him or her to enrich, include, build, design and even create new experiences in the classroom.

Educational Effectiveness in Caribbean and Central American Countries
Caribbean and Central American countries are diverse, as are the Christian schools in them. They face post-colonization, low welfare, and systemic development difficulties. Although educational effectiveness research (EER) is vast, EER is nearly nonexistent in Christian schools. To better understand what makes Christian schools in developing Caribbean and Central American countries effective, instrument items were formulated by selecting significant factors in research. Using a mixed methods approach, administrators and teachers in Caribbean and Central American Christian schools were invited to share perceptions on what impacts student outcomes. The top four significant EER factors discovered included Christlike instructors, students are discipled, Christian community is created within the school, and supportive administrative leadership. The findings of this research could be a launching point for further research about EER in Christian education around the globe.
Knowledge management from the teacher’s perspective
The management of knowledge framed within the university educational teaching where learning and transmission of knowledge to students prevails, allows to carry out a deficiency in the management of knowledge inside and outside the classroom. The present research had as objective an approach to knowledge management from the perspective of the teacher of the Universidad Nacional Experimental de La Seguridad. It was qualitative in nature and was framed in the theory of Nonaka and Takeuchi (2007) from the study of the natural context to the application of the instrument, from the epistemological point of view it is interpretative and experiential. The method was phenomenological, allowing the interpretation of the different specific approaches. The subject of the study consisted of three (3) teachers of the Universidad Nacional Experimental de La Seguridad. The qualitative paradigm and phenomenological method were used. The information was processed using in-depth interviews and observation; the process of analysis and interpretation allowed comparing and contrasting the data obtained.

This book deals with labor market theories and strategies for facilitating graduates' access to their first job. It is divided into two parts: the first presents labor market theories, while the second highlights strategies for integrating graduates into the workforce, particularly in terms of access to first jobs. This is a topical issue that is now being taken seriously by government authorities, as the number of unemployed graduates is rising abnormally and continues to increase year on year. It also provides professionals and decision-makers with a better understanding of labor market issues, with a view to formulating and implementing strategies to facilitate the professional integration of graduates from public and private universities.
The blog and its tools
Children and adolescents debilitated by illness and cut off from their school environment (friends, colleagues, teachers and others) find it difficult to maintain the link with school when they return, especially when they have been immersed in the hospital environment for a long time. It is important to emphasise that the measure of time for the student-patient is not the same as the daily life of those outside hospital. Life passes slowly for those who are cut off from social interaction. A week, a fortnight, a month, months? You can't say what the measure is, it's defined by the feeling of exclusion of those in hospital. The intensity of time for the student patient is perceived differently, as they lose contact with their daily lives, abandoned and often due to the seriousness of their illness, visits are restricted.

Investigating the Creative and Effective Methods of Teachers
The term "education system" includes all institutions which are concerned with the education of children, young persons and adults, in particular preschool/Kindergarten, preschool/nursery school, primary school, lower secondary school, vocational upper secondary school, general upper secondary school or Gymnasium/grammar school/Lyc矇e, high schools, vocational schools, and on tertiary level polytechnics/Fachhochschule, universities and also institutions of adult education like adult education centres. The structure of the educational system varies between nations and also occasionally within the nations in different regions/states (e.g. in Germany). Specific differences concern the question if and when youngsters/children are separated and selected to go to different schools. The division into one or more types of school may be the fact right after four years of schooling or after primary school, and in some systems the possibilities are open very early to continue in different tracks at the end of each type of school. In some systems the schooling is more comprehensive at least during the first nine years.
Knowledge, position, gaze, images and time in teacher training
'The training of future teachers, like any identity construction, is social; it is also a dialectical act: it emanates from the culture (mediated by the activities carried out in the classroom) to the individual; it also comes from within the individual, who contributes their experiences and knowledge to the culture, and then there is the exchange, always individual, different from person to person, depending on the different rhythms and life histories of each one. (...) If we accept that professional identity can be constructed, that it is neither one nor eternal, and if we accept that it represents our various faces in different communication situations, we have a big world. ) If we realise that professional identity can be constructed, that it is neither one nor eternal, and if we accept that it represents, as images, our various faces in different communication situations, then the degree course is a great figurative world in which the subject's new professional face is constructed. (...) ) Becoming a teacher requires verbalising what you are/learn, or what you can be, or what you see/perceive ways of being; it is in your constitutive space-time in the classroom, in your dialogical-ideological word, when you encounter the active responsive attitude of your peers in classroom interaction, that echoes and links are formed and that the student reflects/refracts and builds themselves professionally.' Laboring in the Shadow of Empire
Laboring in the Shadow of Empire: Race, Gender, and Care Work in Portugal examines the everyday lives of an African-descendant care service workforce that labors in an ostensibly "anti-racial" Europe and against the backdrop of the Portuguese colonial empire. While much of the literature on global care work has focused on Asian and Latine migrant care workers, there is comparatively less research that explicitly examines African care workers and their migration histories to Europe. Sociologist Celeste Vaughan Curington focuses on Portugal--a European setting with comparatively liberal policies around family settlement and naturalization for migrants. In this setting, rapid urbanization in the late twentieth century, along with a national push to reconcile work and family, has shaped the growth of paid home care and cleaning service industries. Many researchers focus on informal work settings, where immigrant rights are restricted and many workers are undocumented or without permanent residence status. Curington instead examines workers who have accessed citizenship or permanent residence status and also explores African women's experiences laboring in care and service industries in the formal market, revealing how deeply colonial and intersectional logics of a racialized and international division of reproductive labor in Portugal render these women "hyper-invisible" and "hyper-visible" as "appropriate" workers in Lisbon.

Research Compendium
The construction of scientific knowledge involves a long path in which different levels of abstraction are linked, certain methodological principles are fulfilled and various stages in the process of investigation of phenomena are covered in order to achieve at the end of the path an objective knowledge, that is to say, one that corresponds to the reality being studied. The process of knowledge begins when the sense organs come into contact with the external world. Common knowledge. Everyday. also known as empirical - spontaneous, is basically obtained in this way through the practice that man performs daily, which has allowed humanity to accumulate valuable and varied experiences throughout its history, the acquisition of scientific knowledge requires, instead, the joint activity of the sensory organs and thinking of the cognizing subject, supported by theoretical reflection and guided by a series of principles and rules in order to discover what the empirical - spontaneous knowledge can not capture: the essence of the processes, events and object.

Design and Analysis of Thermal Conductivity of Composite Fins
The objective of this investigation is to examine the heat transfer dynamics within a longitudinal rectangular composite fin, focusing on the influence of temperature-dependent thermal conductivity. The analysis centers on forced convection scenarios using a pin-fin apparatus. Composite fins are created by electroplating a base material, such as aluminum, with a coating of a metal like copper via hydrolysis, significantly enhancing thermal conductivity. The electroplating process proceeds at approximately 0.25 micrometers per minute using metal sulphates and nitrates. Following electroplating, a comprehensive analysis covers dimensions, material properties, and operating conditions like fluid flow rate and temperature gradients, aiming to understand their impact on heat transfer characteristics. Results are meticulously documented and validated using ANSYS, comparing experimental findings with computational models to enhance credibility. This study investigates the complex interplay of heat transfer phenomena, geometric shapes, and material properties in composite fins, offering insights applicable to engineering applications requiring effective thermal management strategies.
Implementing problem-based learning
This research aimed to improve professional practice skills and the development of socio-emotional skills in the Production Engineering course at UDESC/CEPLAN by structuring the implementation of the active Problem-Based Learning (PBL) methodology, in one month of classes, in the subject of Productive Systems. A systematic literature review was carried out, covering the period from 2015 to 2021, with a search in the SCOPUS and Science Direct databases, resulting in the analysis and systematization of 6169 articles, which supported the theoretical framework of this study. The participants in the research comprised a case study with 11 students from UDESC/CEPLAN, during an academic semester in 2020. The results of the application of PBL were obtained through a structured questionnaire and treated with Content Analysis. It was concluded that the structure proposed for the PBL was effective in terms of the stages adopted and that the students successfully improved their problem-solving skills through the development of socio-emotional competences, as well as reporting that they gained professional competences by taking part in this research.

Deep Design Thinking
This book is a manifesto urging deeper thought about what we design as well as how and why we design. As design thinking deepens, its reach widens, making this a book not just for designers but also for policymakers, government ministers, company CEOs and other makers-of-big-decisions.The world we live in presents a myriad of complex, critical challenges which design thinking has the potential to resolve. The hope in writing this book is that when future generations look back and reflect on how we succeeded in steering away from our climate-warming, species-killing, polluting habits of the past towards a more productive, life-fulfilling and equitable future, they might see the hand of deep design thinking on the tiller. Seaton and Mike Baxter are father and son who have both been Professors of Design and have contributed, over several decades between them, to the fields of ecological design, product design and strategy design. This book is the result of many years of discussions between them on the nature of design and the ideas and practicalities that lead to deep design thinking.

Motivation and Metacognition in English Language Achievement
This study investigates the relationship between motivation, metacognition, and academic achievement in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners in higher education. It aims to understand how these factors interact and contribute to language learning success. The research employs a quantitative approach, utilizing the Motivation/Attitudes Questionnaire (MAQ), Metacognitive Awareness Inventory (MAI), and academic performance records. The findings reveal that students exhibit high levels of general language learning motivation, with instrumental motivation being higher than integrative motivation. A significant positive correlation exists between motivation and metacognitive awareness, indicating that motivated students employ metacognitive strategies more effectively, enhancing their learning outcomes. Pedagogically, the study suggests that English instructors should focus on fostering both types of motivation and integrating metacognitive strategy training into their teaching practices. This approach helps students become self-regulated learners, capable of planning, monitoring, and evaluating their learning processes.
Emotional balance
The academic training process of professionals in educational sciences should be conceived, in addition to the curricular approach of specific contents of this important area of knowledge, as an integral training process, taking into account aspects related to the human condition such as personal valuation, awareness, exchange and structural modification of emotions. This significant transformation is intended to enable the teaching staff and students to manage the emotional aspect in harmony, so that the conciliation of emotions and the favourable development of the socio-professional and personal are appropriately achieved. For this reason, this book deals with aspects fundamentally related to emotional intelligence as a determining aspect in the achievement of competences and its chronological role in the construction of emotions. Likewise, the relevance of the appropriate management of emotions for the progressive achievement of academic competences in a dual synergic framework between emotionality and intellectuality is addressed from different scientific criteria.

In candid terms, these enforcers, critics, and targets of security regimes describe their working lives--their jobs, routines, backgrounds, and families--as well as their feelings about what they do. Their stories offer a rare glimpse into the internal complexities of security work and fresh insight into what the encroaching security state is doing to America's hearts and minds, one worker at a time, and to society at large, on an intimately human scale.

It also sought to observe the importance of play and the perception that teachers and parents have of it. At first, the assumption was made that the teachers' initial training was deficient and that they were therefore using play only to pass the time or keep the children occupied and/or quiet. This hypothesis did not materialise, as the teachers are all pedagogues and have postgraduate degrees, but it was noticed that none of them had taken a course on this subject during their undergraduate studies, and in their continuing education, most of them had never taken a specific course on play in Early Childhood Education. It was possible to conclude that the teachers make use of play in early childhood education and that both they and the parents have a good perception of the importance of these activities for children's development. However, it is known that playfulness is a very broad field that deserves more attention from educators.
Available methodologies for teaching science and biology
Teaching methodology is the area that is concerned with how the student will acquire knowledge, in other words, it is the field that provides teachers with different ways of applying content, always aiming for the best for the student in terms of their learning. Teaching someone something is not an easy task, since there are different students with different needs. It is therefore important for teachers to constantly seek out and use different teaching methodologies to facilitate this process. The current reality of inclusion law in schools
The research addresses Law No. 13.146, of 6 July 2015, which, in its Chapter IV, guarantees every person with special needs an education system at all levels and lifelong learning, enabling cognitive, social and cultural development, respecting their limitations, differences and meeting their needs. This research investigates the applicability of this law through a case study at the Get繳lio Vargas State College in the city of S瓊o Borja.
Intelligent Narratives
The project was conceived as a collaborative learning space through a process of co-creation of digital books between teachers and students, using AGI tools for the creation of educational content. The structure of the project was articulated around the use of AGI systems based on natural language processing, promoting a comprehensive understanding of the capabilities and limitations inherent to these emerging technologies. The process focused on critical interaction with AGI, where participants were not only involved in the generation and revision of texts produced by the machine, but also reflected on aspects of authorship, originality and ethics. The resulting products, a diverse collection of digital books, reflected not only the convergence of humans and machines in co-creation, but also demonstrated the utility of AGI in enriching teaching and learning across a broad spectrum of academic disciplines.
Workers’ Health and Burnout
We work to build, to meet human needs and to occupy socio-environmental spaces. It is therefore necessary to emphasize the importance of the nature of work and the conditions in which it is carried out in developing workers' capacities. Being attentive to workers and their psychological health is essential in order to promote changes in attitudes and propose new ways of organizing the work environment, especially in relation to teaching.Burnout Syndrome does not appear suddenly, but is the final stage in a continuous process of various inadequacies in the work environment. Thus, there are growing signs of the precariousness of teachers' work, a high level of professional burnout, little fulfillment at work due to precarious working conditions, lack of family support and, above all, dissatisfaction with their salaries.Knowledge of the syndromes that most affect workers can help to improve and implement prevention and intervention actions, especially in today's world.
Modernity and Regulation in the Education of Young Children
This book presents contributions from research carried out in 2015 at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC/Brazil). Its purpose was to investigate the regulatory processes inherent in the functioning of an early childhood education institution and, on the other hand, to highlight the children's point of view, i.e. how the regulatory forms, materialized by rules and norms, are placed in the educational unit and how the children perceive, understand and operate with them. Based on a dialog established between the data generated in the field and the theoretical framework of Boaventura de Sousa Santos, Erving Goffman and Michel Foucault in an interface with studies in the field of the Sociology of Childhood and a Pedagogy of Childhood, it was found that, even though they are constrained by the impositions of rules and norms created by older subjects, children subvert the logic of adults and assert their interests, making their cultural universes explicit. Children use the most varied strategies, based on their imaginative repertoires, their experiences and their games, to go beyond the order imposed by modern rationality.
Holiday camps and education
Recreation and leisure activities can have a high educational content and are important adjuncts in the educational process. However, it is necessary to have a competent professional who is aware of their roles and actions, including when dealing with non-formal educational environments, such as camps, which are experienced during leisure time. The aim of this study was to investigate, from the point of view of recreation professionals working in educational camps, how they perceive their role as educators and how they contribute to the socio-cultural development of campers.
Emotional Intelligence in the Higher Level Educational Model
Emotional intelligence is the ability possessed by human beings to recognize, externalize and control feelings that allows developing the ability to overcome the obstacles present in daily life. It is an important factor that is related to the social and mental well-being of students. It allows them to understand the environment that surrounds them and in making decisions in the various situations that arise throughout their lives. Therefore, experts in the field argue that it should be considered and developed continuously in the social, family and school environments. The purpose of this article is to analyze the educational model of the higher level on the subject of emotional intelligence and to propose others that favor the development of emotional intelligence to favor the learning of the students of the Centro Universitario de Ciencias Exactas e Ingenier穩as at the higher level through the inclusion of additional activities in their own teaching practice.
(Re)Meaning of Continuing Education for Teachers
Continuing education in Brazil has been searching for its real meaning and stability for centuries, but it is clear that this has not been an easy task. This book aims to clarify relevant aspects of Continuing Education, an educational modality that is so widespread but often misunderstood. The methodology employed in this regard is based on bibliographical research and literary analyses from scientific journals and books. It is possible to observe during the course of the study that the researchers analysed are capable of presenting points of view in line with what is proposed. In the course of the study, suggestions were made for rescuing good teaching, even though it depends on such contradictory public policies. A retrospective of Brazilian education was carried out and the permanent struggle of educators to comply with the law was highlighted. The emergence of a hybrid teaching methodology, i.e. face-to-face teaching combined with online teaching, only reinforces the need for teachers to always be training to keep up with technological advances.
