Horse Dreams
A sort of memoir, Horse Dreams began as a visual journal as my daughter grew up and I was challenged by life to grow up too. I continued to draw and write as she became an adult. My work as a healer came to include art making and yoga and more recently to connection with horses and the outdoors. The book was written over 3 decades.
Dual Nature
Dual Nature is the first monograph to explore the remarkable life and career of American artist Jane Rosen, whose work in stone, glass, and on paper spans more than four decades. Born and raised in New York, Rosen established her reputation as a keen observer and interpreter of the modern world in the high-energy, experimental art scene of the 1970s and 1980s SoHo and Greenwich Village. In 1989, she took a leave from city life and rented a home situated on a ranch in Northern California. Her bold decision to escape the familiar and work closer to nature would dramatically expand her art -- forever reinforcing the "dual nature" of her rich creative life, influenced by both East Coast and West Coast, culture and nature, minimalism and imagery. In more than 180 photographs, including many pages from Rosen's personal journals, Dual Nature reflects on the range of the artist's most important work and most meaningful influences -- including family, friends, mentors, students, and the hawks, foxes, horses, and beloved rescue dogs she has encountered in a life of constant artistic exploration.

You’re Not From Around Here... Are You?
This is my second edition catalog of my artwork from my new sci-fi story, "You're not from around here are you?" My artwork is mixed media; gel pen and watercolor plus other materials. It's ultra colorful, very contemporary and fun. The central characters, the "Cam," are warm, friendly, surprisingly funny and are drawn in some very unusual situations. There are hidden messages from the Torah, Bible, Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad-Gita, Quran and other sources. The drawings are even more fun when you look at them with 3D glasses. There are many sizes to choose from; 18" x 24", 24" x 36", 36" x 48" and more. To have a large format print hanging over your sofa will light up your room. Situational subjects; a Cam marriage, catching a Cam on the toilet (accidentally, of course), Cam sneeze, Tootsie worm menagerie (we have dogs and cats, Cams have Tootsie worms), young terrified Cam boy on a skateboard getting ready to go down a steep hill, and much more. Cams are extremely considerate. In order to fit in, they'll wear human clothing, hair, lipstick, shoes, hats, mustaches, bow ties, etc., in order to blend in and it's hilarious! It's funny because Cams look nothing like us! They communicate with light and light patterns, walk with a suction cup foot, slide 'n' shuffle, and say and do off the wall things. You are going to fall in love with them!! Backstory The time is finally here! Contact has been made. We no longer have to wait for an answer. They are called Cams and they're from our very own interstellar neighborhood. Camelopardia is 265 light years away, and onboard their starship, there are other races eager to meet us. But the question looms, why now? This is a realistic meeting of our interstellar neighbors. Why are they here? What do they look like? Do they have families? Do they believe in G-d? What are their objectives? What's their culture like? So many questions! The Cams are here for 35 years. They're here to warn us and teach us. They will redirect our thinking and help us to become part of a legion, a peaceful group, that must come together to fight a common enemy, the Knuck Knack. So insidious and so very, very dangerous, they give cruelty a whole new meaning, and... they've known about Earth for over 150 years! There are 61 members of the Legion of Planets. The Cams and several other races will bring us into the Legion. Get ready for the ride of your life!! The adventure begins!!
Harmonics: Sixty Years of Life in Art
Paul Gruhler opened his first studio in 1962 at the age of 21 -- a year later he had a solo show at the DeMena Gallery in lower Manhattan. From the beginning, Gruhler, a self-taught artist, was compelled by what came to be known as geometric abstraction, in which the deliberative arrangement of color, line, texture, and scale, in paintings and collage, evoke from these disparate elements a sense of meditative harmony. For sixty years, he has continued to explore the subtle differences that can be made from color and line. Gruhler was fortunate in the early years to have met and become good friends with three older artists who were also important teachers and mentors -- first Michael Lekakis, then Harold Weston and Herb Aach. Lekakis, a celebrated sculptor, who already had had exhibitions at the Guggenheim Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Museum of Modern Art's exhibition Americans 1963, took Gruhler under his wing, navigating him through New York's thriving avant-garde art scene. As Carolyn Bauer writes, "Michael Lekakis was instrumental in encouraging Gruhler to attend art events, while taking him to invite-only museum openings." He also introduced him to renowned artists -- among them, Alexander Calder, Isamu Noguchi, Louise Nevelson, and Barnett Newman -- whose works influenced the young Gruhler, as did such artists as Mark Rothko, Clyfford Still, and Ad Reinhardt. Lekakis was also instrumental in Gruhler's first show, giving titles to his paintings and writing catalog copy that drew upon his own abstract poetics. "These canvases," he wrote, are "multi colored fire densely cascades to suspension hanging a counterpoint of rhythmic patterns in space covering it like a shroud united by a golden fragmentation." Over these years Gruhler has had numerous solo and group shows in the U.S. in New York and Vermont, in Mexico, and abroad in Finland, Germany, Sweden, and The Netherlands. HARMONICS is both a retrospective and a current view of Paul Gruhler's intensive art. Adam Pendleton: As Heavy as Sculpture
An artist's book exploring the language of protestA new artist's book by Adam Pendleton (born 1984), As Heavy as Sculpture follows Pendleton's 2021 installation of the same title, exhibited at the New Museum in New York. The book collects, repeats and processes over 80 source collages, incorporating drawings, sketches, writing and marks, often in combination with images.Much of the language in the collages is drawn from the protests against police brutality that swept the US in 2020: Pendleton has transcribed slogans sprayed on walls and windows, combining them with his own improvised language as well as photographs of art objects and artifacts (sculptures, masks and figures). The work points to the poetic pressure that uprisings place on language itself, compressing it in some cases into the barest of forms: simple sequences like "ACAB" or "1312," further reducible to the elements "A, B, C," "1, 2, 3."In parallel with these operations of decomposition and recomposition, the collages in As Heavy as Sculpture have been duplicated, laid out across 30 sheets and folded into book signatures, creating new displacements and cuts. This folding is in effect a chance operation, a procedure of recombination and translation, resulting in arrangements of images not planned out in advance.

I have been asked by family, clients, and friends to write a book. I have overcome many roadblocks in my journey that have turned into bridges and have brought me to realize my heart cry. Whatever stage of life you are in, consider that each stage has a lesson that can be a bridge or a barrier. But Nicholas Roerich was as prolific a writer as he was a painter. He wrote books, poetry, and almost-daily essays on life and events (called Diary Leaves).Many of these writings have been unavailable for decades. They will therefore be new to many readers. It is our hope that bringing these volumes to light again will expand awareness of the vast range and depth of Roerich's interests and insights into human nature and cultural history.

Women, Art and Money in England, 1880-1914
Women, Art and Money in England establishes the importance of women artists' commercial dealings to their professional identities and reputations in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Grounded in economic, social and art history, the book draws on and synthesises data from a broad range of documentary and archival sources to present a comprehensive history of women artists' professional status and business relationships within the complex and changing art market of late-Victorian England. By providing new insights into the routines and incomes of women artists, and the spaces where they created, exhibited and sold their art, this book challenges established ideas about what women had to do to be considered 'professional' artists. More important than a Royal Academy education or membership to exhibiting societies was a woman's ability to sell her work. This meant that women had strong incentive to paint in saleable, popular and 'middlebrow' genres, which reinforced prejudices towards women's 'naturally' inferior artistic ability - prejudices that continued far into the twentieth century. From shining a light on the difficult to trace pecuniary arrangements of little researched artists like Ethel Mortlock to offering new and direct comparisons between the incomes earned by male and female artists, and the genres, commissions and exhibitions that earned women the most money, Women, Art and Money is a timely contribution to the history of women's working lives that is relevant to a number of scholarly disciplines.

The Space of Sex
As film and television become ever more focused on the pornographic gaze of the camera, the human body undergoes a metamorphosis, becoming both landscape and building, part of an architectonic design in which the erotics of the body spread beyond the body itself to influence the design of the film or televisual shot. Each of these mainstream or independent movies, and several more, are examined for the ways they have attempted to absorb pornography, if not the pornography industry specifically, into their plot. According to Waldrep, the utopian elements of seventies porn get reprocessed in a complex way in the twenty-first century as both a utopian impulse-the desire to have sex on the screen, to re-eroticize sex as something positive and lacking in shame-with a mixed feeling about pornography itself, with an industry that can be seen in a dystopian light. In other words, sex, in our contemporary world, still does not come without compromise.
