She is often asked how to break into modeling, and in this book, Suzanne answers frequently asked questions and presents her formula for modeling success. I have had an exciting and lucrative career as a model during the 70s, 80s and 90s in NYC, Los Angeles, Paris and Milan. I am in gratitude to all of the agents who have represented me over the years and to the many clients who have booked me. I dedicate this book to all of you who share the same dream that I had as a young girl... to become a model. This book is packed with information to inform you and to guide you along your journey to make your Dreams Come True. So many of us grow up having dreams that seem beyond our reach. I am one of those people. I lived in a small farm town in the Midwest. I loved this quaint, simple town Darlington, Wisconsin, where I grew up. I'm not sure if those who grew up in that town of 2,000 people had the same lofty ideas and dreams that I had, but I knew I wanted to one day move away to see the world and discover new things. I was very tall as a young girl. I was teased and called "Giraffe" because I was so much taller than everyone in my class. Other people would tell me that I should be a model. One day I stumbled upon an advertisement in the newspaper regarding model training in Madison, Wisconsin. It was there that my dream began taking its first flight. I eventually made it to NYC to be in a modeling competition. After that competition, I stayed in NYC. It was then that the hard work began. It wasn't easy for me in the beginning. It took time for me to get my career off the ground. But I did it! I worked with some of the best photographers and designers in the business. In NYC, I was represented by Wilhelmina Agency and later the Ford Agency. For runway, I was represented by Mannequin Agency and Foster Fell Agency. I also had agents in Milan (Ricardo Guy Agency) and in Paris (Glamour Agency).After living and working in NYC for 14 years, I moved to California. I continued my modeling career in Los Angeles, where I pursued acting as well. I have booked several roles as an actor, but I am most known for my modeling career. I am also known for producing charity fashion shows. When I look back at my career as a model, I can't help but think that had I met the right mentor to guide me in my journey, I could have moved my career along much more quickly. When I meet young people who have the dream and the potential to be a model, I offer them the mentorship I wish I would have had in my own career. I coach them in private or online classes and introduce them to agents to help them obtain representation. However, I found myself asking, "What about those young people who live in rural areas like I did, who don't have any idea where to begin or how to make their dreams come true?" As a result, I decided to write this book, hoping that it would reach everyone everywhere. I have put all of my knowledge and expertise into this book for all of you who share the dream to become a model. This book is for those who live near or far. It's for those that live in a big city or perhaps in a small, quaint, simple farm town in the Midwest, like where I grew up and dared to dream.

Eugenics and Physical Culture Performance in the Progressive Era
This book strives to unmask the racial inequity at the root of the emergence of modern physical culture systems in the US Progressive Era (1890s-1920s). This book focuses on physical culture - systematic, non-competitive exercise performed under the direction of an expert - because tracing how people practiced physical culture in the Progressive Era, especially middle- and upper-class white women, reveals how modes of popular performance, institutional regulation, and ideologies of individualism and motherhood combined to sublimate whiteness beneath the veneer of liberal progressivism and reform. The sites in this book give the fullest picture of the different strata of physical culture for white women during that time and demonstrate the unracialization of whiteness through physical culture practices. By illuminating the ways in which whiteness in the US became a default identity category absorbed into the "universal" ideals of culture, arts, and sciences, the author shows how physical culture circulated as a popular performance form with its own conventions, audience, and promised profitability. This book examines contemporary English drama and its relation to the neoliberal consensus that has dominated British policy since 1979. The London stage has emerged as a key site in Britain's reckoning with neoliberalism. On one hand, many playwrights have denounced the acquisitive values of unfettered global capitalism; on the other, plays have more readily revealed themselves as products of the very market economy they critique, their production histories and formal innovations uncomfortably reproducing the strategies and practices of neoliberal labour markets. Shortlisted for the PQ Best Publication Award in Performance Design & Scenography 2023 In this book practitioner and researcher Louise Ann Wilson examines the expanding field of socially engaged scenography and promotes the development of scenography as a distinctive type of applied art and performance practice that seeks tangible, therapeutic, and transformative real-world outcomes. It is what Christopher Baugh calls 'scenography with purpose'. Using case studies drawn from the body of site-specific walking-performances she has created in the UK since 2011, Wilson demonstrates how she uses scenography to emplace challenging, marginalizing or 'missing' life-events into rural landscapes - creating a site of transformation - in which participants can reflect upon, re-image and re-imagine their relationship to their circumstances. Her work has addressed terminal illness and bereavement, infertility and childlessness by circumstance, and (im)mobility and memory. These works have been created on mountains, in caves, along coastlines and over beaches. Each case-study is supported by evidential material demonstrating the effects and outcomes of the performance being discussed. The book reveals Wilson's creative methodology, her application of three distinct strands of transdisciplinary research into the site/landscape, the subject/life-event, and with the people/participants affected by it. She explains the 7 'scenographic' principles she has developed, and which apply theories and aesthetics relating to land/scape art and walking and performance practices from Early Romanticism to the present day. They are underpinned by the concept of the feminine 'material' sublime, and informed by the attentive, autotopographic, therapeutic and highly scenographic use of walking and landscape found in the work of Dorothy Wordsworth and her female contemporaries. Case studies include Fissure (2011), Ghost Bird (2012), The Gathering (2014), Warnscale (2015), Mulliontide (2016), Dorothy's Room (2018) and Women's Walks to Remember: 'With memory I was there' (2018-2019).

The Little Yiddish I Know I Learned From My Grandmother
David Stevens is a retired professor and attorney. This Memoir is a compilation of his blogs from 2009 to 2021. While not a complete autobiography, it presents a coherent picture of his life and family. As a secular Jew turned atheist, Stevens participates in both the alienation and integration of his people. While he could be said to have participated in the American Dream, rising from the working poor to the upper middle class through education, he also feels elements of an American nightmare, having been affected by alcoholism and domestic abuse. From the title essay: "My maternal grandmother, Etta Felger Brock, was born in Ukraine in 1905. Over the next ten years her entire family emigrated to America, eventually settling in Milwaukee. Her father, David Felger, went first alone in 1910. Etta's older sisters Fannie and Rose went next in 1913. In 1914 her mother Sylvia Stelnick Felger followed with Etta, her younger sister Katie, and her younger brother Morey (Moishe). They spoke mostly Yiddish at home, although they naturally spoke Ukrainian. They were close enough to Poland that they spoke fluent Polish as well. For political reasons they felt it wise also to speak Russian. In the long run it was a very good thing they left when they did; following World War II there were no Jews left alive in their village (Ustyl繳h), including the relatives who died because they would not or could not leave. In my imagination it looks like the end of 'Fiddler on the Roof', although I doubt there was any musical accompaniment or any turntable."

Provocative in content and style, this play acquaints readers with a history of the making of the Caribbean, and the story of Anancy in the Caribbean. Anancy's story is encapsulated in the main narrative, forming the mise-en-abime, with signifiers within the text that lead to other narratives. Additionally, it presents African complicity in the slave trade, which enabled slave capture and trading, the development and expansion of the Sugar Plantation in the Caribbean and the influence, growth and development of African religious and spiritual beliefs in the Caribbean. A major theme highlighted is the politics of male dis-empowerment and the matrifocal family, as well as the role of transplantation, acculturation and synthesism of African cultures in the Caribbean. Ultimately, given present reflection in 2020, on the currency of re-assessing the values of past and present cultural assets in the 21st century, especially with the global outpouring of mass unity, (ignited by George Floyd's death in the USA), against actions that are directly linked to past atrocities, e.g. slavery, that continue to have repercussions in our world today. The writer calls for an reassessment of Gang-Gang's story, in the hope that it would ignite debates on the importance of this legendary figure. The writer suggests that Gang-Gang Sarah has been relegated to a myth, which debunked her legendary status and cultural importance and instead branded her a witch. Therefore, the suggestion is that there should be a re-evaluation of the trope from "witch" to "warrior," since perspectives on Gang-Gang's African religious and cultural significance in the Caribbean environment at that time, was based on misconceptions by the dominant Christian ideology at that time.

A Glossary of Words and Phrases in the Oral Performing and Dramatic Literatures of the Jin, Yuan, and Ming
For many years, the oral performing and dramatic literatures of China from 1200 to 1600 CE were considered some of the most difficult texts in the Chinese corpus. They included ballad medleys, comic farces, Yuan music dramas, Ming music dramas, and the novel Shuihu zhuan. The Japanese scholars who first dedicated themselves to study these works in the mid-twentieth century were considered daring. As late as 1981, no comprehensive dictionary or glossary for this literature existed in any language, Asian or Western.A Glossary of Words and Phrases fills this gap for Western readers, allowing even a relative novice who has resonable command of Chinese to read, translate, and appreciate this great body of literature with an ease undreamed of even two decades ago. The Glossary is organized into approximately 8,000 entries based on the reading notes and glosses found in various dictionaries, thesauruses, glossaries, and editions of works from the period. Institutionalisation in Joshua Sobol’s ”Ghetto”
Essay from the year 2012 in the subject Theater Studies, Dance, University of Queensland (St. Lucia Campus), course: DRAM3103 - Topics in Theatre Research, language: English, abstract: This essay discusses two ways in which scholars have interpreted Joshua Sobol's play "Ghetto" (originally published 1989). It outlines the problems that arise from each interpretation of the play, but also discusses how and why scholars came to those interpretations. The derived conclusion from placing these two interpretations in conversation with each other is that Sobol may have been trying to both give an historical recount of the horrors experienced in the Jewish Ghettos set up by the Nazis, and giving subtle critique on how the Israeli government is treating its Palestinian neighbours. While this essay does not aim to provide definitive conclusions as to what Sobol's motives were behind the writing of "Ghetto", it certainly opens up discussions on how historical contexts can affect the way in which the message of a play or performance is perceived and interpreted.
Star Wars and the Hero’s Journey
The original Star Wars trilogy famously follows Joseph Campbell's model for the hero's journey, making Luke Skywalker's story the new hero quest for a modern age. With the nine-plus film saga complete, however, new story patterns have emerged as the hero's journey is imagined over and over for characters of different ages, genders, and backgrounds. The prequels offer the plot arc of the villain's journey through Anakin. Leia and Padme, while damsels in the men's story, break out to undergo their own ordeals.
