Perspectives on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
With an off-putting title and a decidedly retrograde premise, the CW dramedy Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is a surprising choice for critical analysis. But, loyal viewers quickly came to appreciate the show's sharp cultural critique through masterful parody, and this strategy has made it a critical darling and earned it several awards throughout its run. In ways not often seen on traditional network television, the show transcends conventional genre boundaries--the Hollywood musical, the romantic comedy, the music video--while resisting stereotypes associated with contemporary life. The essays in this collection underscore the show's ability to distinguish itself within the current television market. Focusing on themes of feminism, gender identity, and mental health, contributors explore the ways in which the show challenged viewer expectations, as well as the role television critics play in identifying a show's "authenticity" or quality.

Die Kost羹me wiederum setzte Michaela Barth in Szene.

Beyond Hate
THEMES This is a story about some of the sufferings after America's involvement in the Vietnam War ended (1954-1975). The story begins with the rape of a 16-year-old Vietnamese girl by a black Amerasian. The rape raises numerous is-sues and questions. Can people still hate long after the war has ended? How should an intellectual live and think when life reaches a dead end? Can love and trust overcome ha-tred, envy, and separation? When one's life is full of hatred and lies, can happiness be achieved by losing one's mind?

Bled Dry
Vampire films have not only enthralled and terrified audiences for decades, they also represent one of the oldest subgenres within the world of horror. A subgenre that exhibits a rich tapestry of depth and history like no other, and a creature that has managed to evolve and survive for over one hundred years on film. The vampire represents a primal fear within all of us, a fear that both captivates and terrifies. Sometimes flawed, these cursed immortals were once just like us, and this is perhaps the true appeal after so much time. The shapeshifter can enter the perceived safety of our existence through skilled manipulation and deceit, while offering the victim something they will find hard to resist and eventually succumb to. They are arguably the most skilled and intelligent of all horror villains, and it is of no surprise that they have managed to hold our attention for decades.
