Car culture and architectural advertising in Los Angeles during America's golden age of the automobile Ashok Sinha is a New York-based photographer whose large scale landscape photographs picture uncommon perspectives. His photographs have been exhibited by The Museum of the City of New York, the International Cen- ter of Photography, and The Royal Photographic Society. 罈I love cars and I love Los Angeles for being a city of cars. Over the last decade or so, I have been intrigued by L. A.'s love affair with the automobile, tracing back to a time when cars themselves were objects of beauty. Those cars are no longer on the streets today but the buildings from that era remain. As an architectural photographer, I wanted to capture L. A.'s car-culture-induced optimism and ambition reflected in polychromatic, star-spangled coffee shops, gas stations, and car washes, that once lured the gaze of passing motorists.竄 (Ashok Sinha)

"Sojourner to Stoner: The Photographs "is my impression of Southeast Asia in the 1970s. I spent over a year as an officer in the U.S. Army in South Korea and close to two years traveling throughout Asia, first as a backpacker and later as a Hippie (yippee-ki-yay). "The Photographs" are a companion piece to my written book, called with great imagination: "Sojourner to Stoner: The Journal" I have documented a time, the 1970s, before the all-pervading Western culture (sex, drugs, and rock and roll) and The Economic Miracle changed Asia irrevocably. The book portrays the lives of ordinary people and their unique cultures, religions and traditional ways of life. The Asia of Conrad and Maughan is gone, and the war-torn Asia of Vietnam will also pass. This is my time-capsule vision of Asia, a bright shining light from a galaxy far far away that has already disappeared.

The bootymachine 2007
More than 30 years after the creation of the Internet, and following a reflection on modern connected digital devices, this photographic work was part of a larger online multimedia project and tried to tackle new opportunities for photographical practices. Using the increasingly potent cameras of mobile phones, the Bootymachine would let the photographer take a picture from his pocket, wherever and whenever, that would then go through computational techniques to modify and stylize its texture. The system would then publish it on an online web-based platform for it to be accessible to all.

A 60's Small Town High School
A small town in Oklahoma was a great place to grow up. This anthology of photographs contrasts the stark and shocking images presented in Larry Clark's book "Tulsa," published in 1971. This collection of rediscovered negatives from the early sixties was taken in Bristow, only 30 miles from Clark's Tulsa ofdrugs, sex, and violence. Instead, these are the images I created as a teen learning to photograph, using schoolmates as, mostly willing, subjects. The contrast is almost that of a 50's family television show verses the grit of that turbulent era. Students going about the daily business of high and junior high school with class plays, sports, meetings, and a few images of socializing in the community are seen here as they came out of that old storage box in the attic. Scratches, dust, stains, and discoloration are the evidence of the passingyears, as are the wrinkles on the visages of these same people if you meet them today at 50-year class reunions. This is the Vietnam War generation before the war got into its full destructive swing. These young people lived in an innocent state broken only by their occasional rambunctious misadventures of growing up. Around them, the country was set up for a revolutionary series of losses, demonstrations, and norm-shattering changes.

This is a book of poems for each day of Advent. Each poem is accompanied by a portrait. To breathe new life into an old story, poems are written from a twenty-first-century point of view, and portraits are of twenty-first-century people.
Bubbe, the Wind, and Me
This book was inspired by treasure walks I took with my first grandchild, Ilana. Allowing our imagination to roam freely, we turned simple walks into enchanting encounters. I wrote this book when Ilana was a toddler, put it aside, then revised and crafted a new ending recently during days of the 2020-2021 world pandemic. The story highlights a special relationship between a grandchild and her grandparent. I feel now, as I felt then, the best gift a grandparent can give a grandchild is to show love and spend quality time together- everlasting gifts to treasure.
