The current definition of renal failure is based on the KDIGO criteria, which combine clinical markers (diuresis) with biological markers (creatininemia) to define AKI. Limitations in the assessment of renal function using creatinine levels (muscle mass dependency, large volume of distribution, delayed elevation relative to alteration in glomerular filtration rate) have prompted the search for alternative assessment methods that could enable earlier and more accurate detection of renal dysfunction. Analysis of renal perfusion through measurement of the renal resistance index could be an avenue of research for diagnostic and prognostic assessment of renal damage.

Natural delivery after previous caesarean section
The present work contributes effectively to the reduction of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality through the rational management of scar uterus deliveries in poorly endowed hospital settings. To achieve this, we carried out a prospective, multicentric, cross-sectional and analytical study of patients with scar uteri in four different secondary-level hospitals in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This study identified 4 determinants of fetomaternal outcome, uterine challenge and maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality that define the PAUM score for predicting uterine challenge failure.The acronym PAUM was given to it in reference to the initials of its constituent keywords, namely: The use of this predictive score has the effect of improving quality in Caesarean section indications, increasing prophylactic Caesarean section rates and improving selection of patients undergoing uterine testing.

Overview of Malaria Infection and Haematological Indices in Africa
Malaria, a severe parasitic disease transmitted by Anopheles mosquitoes, is caused by various Plasmodium species, with P. falciparum and P. vivax posing the greatest threat. While most infections are uncomplicated, a small percentage progresses to severe malaria, characterized by disruptions in immune cell profiles and increased cytokine levels. Severe P. falciparum malaria is associated with elevated plasma cytokines, T cell lymphopenia, and impaired T cell function. Treatment aims to restore immune cell balance, particularly CD3+, CD4+, and CD8+ cells. Protective immunity involves CD8+ T cells and cytokines like IFN-γ and TNF, while CD4+ T cells combat erythrocytic parasites through cytokine secretion and macrophage activation. Regulatory T cells also play a role, highlighting the importance of cytokine balance in malaria. Additionally, factors like antigen affinity influence T helper lymphocyte differentiation, affecting immune responses to the disease.

Management of non-severe head injuries
Introduction: Non-severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) is defined by a Glasgow score of 9 or higher, and is a frequent pathology in the neurosurgical setting. Objectives: The aim of this study is to describe the epidemio-clinical and prognostic aspects, the therapeutic modalities and the role of the nurse in its management.Methods: This was a retrospective study based on 61 patient records from a seven-year period (2014-2020) who had been treated for non-severe head injury.Results: The mean age of our population was 45 years, with a male predominance (sex ratio=2.05). The main causes of CT were public road accidents (55.8%) and domestic accidents (31.1%). The main lesions found were extradural hematomas (50.8%) and embarrures (24.6%). Treatment was mainly surgical (62.3%).Conclusions: Head trauma requires multidisciplinary management.The nurse plays a vital role in its management, as well as in psychological care and support for families and relatives.
Phytotherapy, with Brazilian Herbal Medicines
This work was based on research into the databases of the USP School of Medicine and the USP School of Psychology, as well as a review of classes already taught in the Doctorate in Psychoanalysis. The aim was to develop material to help patients treated at university outpatient clinics and at my Physiotherapy and Psychoanalysis Clinic, which focuses on weight loss and eating disorders. This phytotherapy work is the result of more than two decades of accompanying patients, whether in a clinic using phytotherapics, in the classroom at universities teaching, on courses in various cities across the country and on plantations advising on how to harvest. He has always shown everyone that practice must be allied to research, and that the diversity of Brazilian herbal medicines requires a lot of study and constant updating. This work expresses the efforts to demonstrate this traditional, efficient therapy, which brings practical results for patients.

The aim of this study was to assess the economic level and quality of life of the elderly in the Boto Health Zone, in the South Ubangi Province.What's more, their quality of life remains precarious due to the lack of economic support for the elderly from the Congolese state. In the DRC, it is difficult to know the situation of the elderly, as there has never been a general census of the elderly. Affective-respiratory paroxysm (ARP) in children is a non-epileptic paroxysmal disorder manifested by involuntary breath-holding, short-term loss of consciousness, and impaired motor activity caused by emotional or physical stimuli. The relevance of the problem is due to the high frequency of misdiagnosis of ARP as epilepsy, which can lead to unwarranted prescription of antiepileptic therapy and negative consequences for the neuropsychiatric development of the child. Bronchopulmonary malformations in children
The congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation (CCAM) of the lung is a rare abnormality. The diagnosis may be discussed with many other broncho-pulmonary malformations and some acquired diseases.The aim of our work was to discuss some diagnostic and therapeutic problems of CCAM and prevent an unnecessary lobectomy.A retrospective study of 14 children operated over 20 years. We perform an analysis of personal cases of diagnostic and therapeutic errors.The preoperative diagnosis was established on clinical and radiological findings. The diagnosis of CCAM was dismissed by histology which found: interstitial emphysema (1 case), pulmonary infarction (3 cases), bronchiectasis (1 case), pulmonary capillary hemangiomatosis (1 case), lung abscess and unclassified lesions (7 cases) and hybrid lesion (1 case). In 1 case, the diagnosis of pulmonary abcess was rejected and CCAM was established.The diagnosis and the treatment of CCAM must be based on a multidisciplinary collaboration. The working diagnosis on clinic and radiology requires histological confirmation. Some diagnostic problems require confrontation with warned pathologists to avoid unnecessary lobectomy.

Static foot disorders and low back pain
Introduction: The aim of our work was to evaluate the association between foot statics disorders and common low back pain. Methods: Descriptive, cross-sectional study including patients with a static foot disorder. The population was divided into two groups: study group (with common low back pain) and control group (without common low back pain). Results: Forty patients were enrolled. A flat foot was present in 65% of the study group and 70% of the control group. Hollow foot was noted in 35% and 30% of the study and control groups respectively. Hindfoot valgus and varus were present in 25% and 15% of the study group, and 20% and 10% of the control group, respectively. In the analytical study, there was a significant association between foot statics disorders and low back pain: talalgia (p= 0.03), hyperkeratosis (p= 0.05), foot deformities (p= 0.03), flat foot (p=0.01), hollow foot (p= 0.01), hindfoot valgus (p= 0.001) and hindfoot varus (p= 0.001).Conclusion: Our study suggests the role of foot statics disorders as a risk factor for common low back pain.

Care atlases for managing regional healthcare systems
Demographic change is forcing healthcare systems at all levels to replan their care structures. In Salzburg, the idea was born to develop a regional, cross-sectoral care atlas as an information and planning tool for politicians, administrators, experts and the population. This book summarizes the basis for this: It uses the literature and three best-practice examples from the USA and Germany to illustrate what geographical representations in health reporting can and cannot achieve and develops a checklist for a good health care atlas. In interviews with experts, the opportunities, requirements and challenges for a regional, cross-sectoral health care atlas for the federal state of Salzburg are identified. The interviews show that a regional project for Salzburg should be started as an interactive online platform on a small scale and continuously developed during operation.
Mangosteen extract’s potential to treat schizophrenia
Many people have received sub-optimal treatment for their schizophrenia or affective disorder. Despite a large monetary investment, over a prolonged period, pharmaceutical companies have failed to deliver novel therapies to the market place. Based on anecdotal testimony and with strong literary support, a pilot study was undertaken. For the randomized controlled trial, 80 participants self-administered either mangosteen pericarp or placebo capsules over an 180 day period. No biomarker has been widely recognized for schizophrenia, so widely accepted measures of outcome were accessed by structured interviews. This book reported if supplementary capsules of mangosteen extract (pericarp), modified symptoms for the treatment of schizophrenia and affective disorders.

Coffee’s effect on viral liver disease
