Soft tissue calcification in panoramic radiographs
The book emphasizes the radiographic appearances of various soft tissue calcifications occurring in the maxillofacial region, so as to aid in a better diagnosis. We found the soft tissue calcifications to be more predominant in women with increased occurrences over 40 years of age. Optimal knowledge of the normal anatomy of the maxillofacial skeleton is inevitable to arrive at a precise radiographic diagnosis of such calcifications. An appropriate referral protocol to a medical specialist is important if a dental practitioner suspects calcification of atheroma of the carotid artery.

Use of over-the-counter medications
Medicines are the most widely used health technology in the prevention and treatment of diseases at all levels of health care, and the ability of medicine today to interrupt or modify the natural course of diseases, to prevent them or, in any case, to make their burden lighter, depends to a large extent on them. The use of drugs is nowadays an everyday occurrence in the life of patients and the population in general, but their inappropriate use can become a real danger to people's health.
Compendium of Hyperbolic Medicine
"Hyperbolic Medicine" is the study of hyperbolic curves that occur in the physiology of a living being and other hyperbolic curves that may exist in nature, such as electromagnetic fields, expansion-contraction systems in movement, circadian rhythms, and space-time relativity. Conic perspective is images that travel at the speed of light, following hyperbolic curves of space-time, and are different depending on the animal species. There is space-time relativity perpendicular to the axis of movement of an organ, which gives hyperbolic curves. In the physiology of the human body (nerves, genetic code, etc.) there are hyperbolic curves similar to the lines of force of a magnet and the Earth's magnetic field, which can evolve. Electromagnetic fields affect human physiology and act through hyperbolic curves. Circadian rhythms are synchronized with the hyperbolic space in which one lives. Hyperbolic human physiology can be fragmented like a magnet, similar to a fractal. Diseases can be studied as an expansion-contraction system moving at different speeds. In treating diseases, the hyperbolic dimensions can be modified, acting in its time and space of development.

Optical coherence tomography angiography
Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) is an innovative technique based on OCT, enabling the visualization of vessels in the various chorio-retinal layers in three dimensions without dye injection. It enables identification of the various retinal vascular plexi. This technique provides a new semiological analysis, with a better understanding of chorio-retinal vascular architecture, but it has certain limitations, as it is a static test sensitive to various artifacts linked to movement or changes in chorio-retinal architecture. OCTA is currently promising for the diagnosis of various non-inflammatory pathologies, but remains insufficient for therapeutic decision-making, and must be compared with data from older multimodal imaging techniques.

Telemedicine in psychiatry
Today, telemedicine is redefining medical paradigms, improving access to mental health care and establishing itself as a central topic in international debates since the Covid-19 pandemic. In North Africa and the MENA region, its implementation faces complex challenges, particularly in terms of infrastructure, digital accessibility and regulation. In Tunisia, the legal framework for telemedicine was recently defined by Presidential Decree-Law no. 318/2022 of April 8, published in the Journal Officiel de la R矇publique Tunisienne. Psychiatry is particularly concerned by this development. The objectives of this study were to: Assess Tunisian psychiatrists' knowledge, perception and acceptance of telemedicine. Analyze the ethical, medico-legal, administrative and socio-cultural issues associated with the application of telemedicine in psychiatry. A well-thought-out integration of telemedicine could considerably strengthen and optimize psychiatric care services in Tunisia.

Beyond the Edge
Anabolic steroids are increasingly popular among athletes and bodybuilders for their potential to enhance muscle growth and athletic performance, despite the well-documented risks associated with their use. It is important to emphasize that high doses and the combination of multiple anabolic steroids can never be considered safe. Tragically, the deaths of numerous athletes, particularly bodybuilders, have increasingly been linked to anabolic steroid use. In my previous publications, I explored the evidence supporting the use of nutritional sports supplements, which are generally safer alternatives to anabolic steroids. However, there remains a concerning gap: there is little evidence to suggest that a significant number of anabolic steroid users heed medical advice or warnings. This book seeks to address a crucial question: "Can hormonal agents be used safely in bodybuilding and other sports?"

The sex ratio of patients was 3 and their mean age 24.4 years. Most students were asymptomatic. Association with other digestive parasites was frequent. Conclusion: This study highlights the importance of maintaining systematic surveillance of ENRPT and prompt management.
New Products Development from Sea grass Thalassia hemprichii
Sea grasses are marine higher plants. They present in the most of the costal ecosystem in our globe. They support marine life and alter the physio-chemical parameters of coastal ecosystem. The conservation of sea grasses is important for save our marine ecosystem. After Tsunami, every year large quantity of sea grasses come outside in most of our coastal area. They spoil the sea shore area by accumulation and decomposition of organic pollutant which leads to possible increases into the harmful pathogens load. For control these problems, we should develop many usages and new products from seagrasses and it will also enhance self-employment opportunity to sea shore village people.
Immunity, immunomodulation and some experimental protocols
The body's operating systems are interconnected and highly complex, especially the immune system. In immunology, it's very easy to create one evil by trying to correct another, so a thorough knowledge of the immune system is essential for anyone wishing to enter this field. That's why, through this book, we want to help scientists to carry out their research wisely. We've gone one step further by synthesizing the molecular mechanisms that can explain the immune system and thus cause serious problems for the organism if it malfunctions. We've tried to write up not only some experimental protocols as examples to give some ideas of scientific approach to immunomodulation, but also a list of some immunomodulatory products. This book will help all researchers in any field of life, because immunology is at the "heart" of all branches of animal physiology. It is therefore a leading branch of life science. It's clear that the symptoms of any disease appear when the natural defense system is weakened. The imperative to know the basics of this system must therefore concern all researchers, and so this book is timely and appears to be the solution.
Features of the Course of Myocardial Infarction
The prevalence of diabetes mellitus in industrialized countries reaches 5-6%, the World Health Organization (WHO) predicts an increase in the population of these patients by 2025 from 130 million to 300 million people [Kruglova N.E. "Characteristics of the course and prognosis of non-fatal acute myocardial infarction in patients with type 21 diabetes mellitus, abstract of a dissertation on medicine, 2012. p. 106], and according to Reuters Health information up to 333 million. Of all the causes of death in patients with type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease (CHD) has moved into first place, accounting for 40%. According to the American Diabetes Association (ADA), despite significant advances in the control of hyperglycemia, hypertension, and dyslipidemia over the past 10 years, mortality from coronary heart disease in patients with diabetes has only slightly decreased in men and increased significantly in women, while in the general population of people without diabetes, mortality from coronary heart disease has decreased by more than 30%.
Glia, Second Edition
Glia represent the majority of cells in the nervous system. Originally believed to be passive cells that support the neurons that transmit electrical signals, glial cells are now known to play a far more active part in neural development and function than previously appreciated. Written and edited by experts in the field, this new collection from Cold Spring Harbor Perspectives in Biology examines recent progress in our understanding of the major classes of glial cells--astrocytes, oligodendrocytes, Schwann cells, and microglia. The contributors review how technical advances and the use of worm, fly, and fish model systems are providing fascinating insights into the roles of glia in normal physiology and disease. They discuss how glia control synapse formation and plasticity, regulate blood flow, and organize axonal domains. They describe how glia are formed and generated from precursor cells during development. Other chapters tackle the roles of glial cells in myelination, connections with the lymphatic system, and neuroimmune interactions. The authors also discuss the functions of glia in tissue repair and regeneration, as well as disease processes such as glioma, demyelinating diseases, and neurodegenerative conditions. This volume is therefore a valuable reference for neuroscientists and biologists wishing to understand how these pathologies arise.
Imported malaria
Introduction: Malaria is the world's leading parasitic endemic. In Tunisia, although its autochthonous form was eliminated in 1979, the number of imported cases continues to increase, exposing the country to the risk of reintroduction. Objective: To evaluate the performance of 2 rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs), "ABON(TM) Plus Malaria(R)" and "iTest Malaria(R)", compared with reference microscopic techniques, in the diagnosis of imported malaria in Tunisia. Parasite testing was direct by thick drop (GE), blood smear (FS) and one or more RDT. Results: We collected 35 cases of malaria. The GE was positive in 34 patients and the FS in 21. Plasmodium falciparum was the most commonly identified species. The 2 tests showed excellent concordance with the GE in symptomatic patients. In asymptomatic patients (represented by the foreign students mentioned in the screening), the sensitivity and specificity of the "ABON(TM) Plus" test were 48% and 100% respectively, and those of the "iTest(R) " 23.8% and 100%. Conclusion: RDTs are a useful diagnostic aid, without replacing reference techniques.

Stroke an Emergency Condition Inside-Out
Stroke is one of the disorders that has the potential to cause damage to the arteries that supply blood to the brain. The most common cause of this condition is a blocked or ruptured blood vessel responsible for supplying blood to the brain. Therefore, our book offers a thorough overview of stroke, a medical emergency considered severe and urgent. This discussion covers the genesis, pathology, risk factors, treatment options, and some of the challenges encountered, along with differential diagnosis, prognosis, and the importance of identifying the condition in children. This is due to the shift in the population affected by this ailment, which used to primarily consist of older individuals, but now includes a significant younger population. After the COVID-19 outbreak, there was a notable rise in the number of strokes that occurred among younger patients. This was a significant increase. Raising awareness about stroke and lowering its risk were the primary goals of our book.
Dental Plaque - A Biofilm
Periodontal diseases are infectious. Gram-positive bacteria from saliva express adhesions that selectively bind to pellicle and mediate colonization and growth of supragingival plaque. In a matter of days, Gram-negative species colonize through specific receptors binding to the Gram-positive bacteria. If left unhindered a few days later tightly adherent microbial plaque becomes visible on the tooth surface at the gingival margin and an acute inflammatory response manifested as gingivitis develops. Biofilms are "Matrix enclosed bacterial populations adherent to each other and surfaces or interfaces". The biofilm concept is important in understanding the patho-microbiology of periodontitis and its relation to systemic diseases. As in the case of biofilms in general, subgingival plaques are difficult to eliminate. Gram-negative bacteria in the biofilms shed vesicles that are rich in LPs. The biofilms serve as a constantly renewing source of LPs which once pocket epithelium forms, have ready access to the connective tissue and circulation. Physical disruption and removal are effective ways of dealing with biofilms.
Prevalence of Amoebiasis in Pregnant Women in Africa
Amoebiasis is an infection caused by various species of the protozoan Entamoeba, including Entamoeba histolytica, Entamoeba dispar, Entamoeba coli, Entamoeba hartmanni, Entamoeba polecki, and Entamoeba gingivalis. This book aims to investigate the prevalence of amoebiasis among pregnant women in Africa using gold standard microscopy methods. Stool samples were collected from pregnant women attending antenatal care at the General Hospital in Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria. The research involved 170 pregnant women who visited the antenatal clinic between May and July 2024. Each participant completed a questionnaire to correlate the prevalence and risk factors with their socio-demographic characteristics. Out of the participants, 150 provided stool samples, which were microscopically examined at magnifications of X10 and X40, revealing a prevalence rate of 21.33% for E. histolytica infection. Statistical analysis indicated no significant association (p=0.05) between socio-demographic factors and amoebiasis prevalence. The findings suggest that E. histolytica infections are relatively low in Africa, attributed to good environmental sanitation practices in the continent.
Formulation and Health Implications of Nutraceutical Enriched Foods

Diabetes mellitus
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycaemia that results from defect in insulin secretion, insulin action or both. DM causes many complications that affect retina, kidney, heart, brain and nervous system. Oxidative stress and inflammatory mediators are associated with the disease and increase its severity. This book illustrates these complications and the potential effective treatments.
Time-to-Optimal Control of Hypertension
Most statistical analysis methods do not include the length of time as a variable, and analysis is made only on the trial outcomes upon completion of the study period, as specified in the study protocol (In and Lee, 2018). However, in cases where the outcome yields different interpretations at different points in time, even over a range of only several hours or minutes, it is advantageous to use a statistical analysis method incorporating time as a variable (Kleinbaum and Klein, 2005). Survival methods apply when the focus is the time until an event, such as death or disease onset (Sowmya and David, 2007). Survival analysis is a type of statistical analysis that looks at how predictors affect the time until an event happens, rather than the probability of the event itself. It is used to analyze data in which the time until the event is of interest. As the name indicates, this method has origins in the field of medical research for evaluating the impact of medicines or medical treatment on time until death (Sheik, Selvakumar, Parkavi, Suganya and Venkatesh, 2019).

Colorectal cancer is the leading digestive cancer worldwide. The liver is the most frequent site of colorectal cancer metastases. During the course of the disease, 40 to 60% of patients will develop liver metastases, which are synchronous in 10 to 25% of cases.Elective surgery is the only potentially curative treatment. In the synchronous situation, the simultaneous surgical approach has been validated, but poses a problem of approach.Laparoscopy may have a place in this approach. The aim of our study was to assess the feasibility and safety of the laparoscopic approach in combined surgery for colorectal cancer with synchronous liver metastases.
Determinants of Risk of Obesity
This descriptive-correlational study was to establish the socialenvironment, personal factors, health locus of control and health practices that increase the risk of obesity and with the information gleaned propose a model. The total number of respondents in the study was 512. The social support system of the respondents was good. The body image of the respondents was good and they had good health locus of control. There were low rates of physical activity among the respondents. Dietary intake of the respondents was rated poor. Medical checkup practices among the respondents was rated low. The independent variables found to be significantly correlated with BMI were: age, gender, educational attainment and civil status. Significant predictors of the risk for obesity include: (a) age (b) gender and (c) dietary practice. The respondent at highest risk of obesity was the mature, married man. Based on the findings the Global Obesity Prevention Model was developed.
Comparing the Efficacy of Triclosan versus Chlorhexidine Coated Suture
Among antimicrobials, triclosan and chlorohexidine have a broad antibacterial spectrum as well as high biocompatibility indices. Triclosan, an antibacterial coated polyglactin 910(vicryl plus) and chlorohexidine, an antibacterial coated polyglactin 910(3-0) (PECTRYL CS, Dolphin suture) which replace the conventional method of administering antibiotic in routine third molar surgeries and help in maximizing antimicrobial benefits locally and reducing antibiotic load systematically and the complications that follow. Apart from promising study result of triclosan- coated sutures, triclosan also has drawbacks including formation of toxic side products(e.g. chlorinated phenols, methyl triclosan) and antibiotic resistances, likely due to its prevalence in cosmetics and soap. Additionally, triclosan promotes the protein mediated binding of staphylococci to host cells with the consequence of an increased number of nasal infections caused by S. aureus colonization in the presence of triclosan. Due to these restrictions in the use of triclosan, alternatives are urgently needed. Chlorohexidine are highly effective alternatives, inhibiting relevant pathogens of wound infections.
Pathogenetic mechanisms of anxious depression
In this book the author wants to discuss from the clinical and biochemical points of view some aspects of the dynamics of anxious depression under the treatment with serotonergic antidepressants with different mechanisms of action on serotonin reuptake - inhibitor and enhancer. The underlining biochemical and hormonal changes are described. There were investigated the conformational changes of the albumin molecule in patients with anxious depression in dynamics of pharmacotherapy with antidepressant - tianeptine using subnanosecond fluorescence laser spectroscopy with specific fluorescent probe CAPIDAN. There was performed comparative analysis of the conformational changes in patients with anxious and melancholic depression. In anxious depression all amplitudes before treatment were significantly lower than in healthy controls whereas in melancholic depression before the treatment amplitudes were higher as compared with controls. These results point out that that the two types of depression - anxious and melancholic - have different metabolic profile.
Maxillectomy and Reconstruction with implants
The generic term ''maxillectomy'' is currently used to describe a variety of surgical procedures performed as treatment for a broad spectrum of neoplastic processes involving diverse anatomic sites. Adjectives such as limited, partial, medial, subtotal, total, radical, and extended are usually added to delineate the extent of the operation. Maxillectomy, in one form or another, is performed for a remarkable variety of neoplastic processes. Zygomatic and Pteryoid implants may be used as an alternative to traditional grafting and non-grafting procedures to predictably and safely restore the form, function and esthetic after maxillectomy. In addition, they also offer a reliable method to retain and support a maxillary obturator following maxillectomy.
