Trolleyology in Medicine
This book provides an overview of how the intricacies of the Trolley Problem shed light on various aspects of medical ethics. It shows how trolley dilemmas have become useful to ethicists to the extent that they activate intuitions and provide guidance about what the relevant moral principle ought to be in judging specific actions. Issues are covered at length such as euthanasia, where it is important to determine a relevant difference between killing and letting die; and abortion, where it is necessary to establish if harms can be used as a means to an end. While specialists in medical ethics have argued about these topics at length, few have established connections with the complexities of trolley cases. The Trolley Problem has now become a staple of pop culture and yet, outside philosophy, few people understand its implications. Consequently, this book is of interest to those with a general interest in philosophy, students, researchers as well as those in the healthcare industry where many of the difficult moral decisions encountered are better informed by framing them around the intricacies of the Trolley Problem.
SBAV in paediatrics
The aim of this study was to carry out a literature review to analyse the role of nurses and the importance of their theoretical and scientific knowledge in basic and advanced life support in paediatrics. Materials and Methods: This was a descriptive, exploratory study, with an integrative analysis of the literature available in virtual databases. This study identified an insufficient number of studies on the subject under investigation. It was possible to conclude that the nursing team's knowledge on this subject is still incipient. This study made it possible to identify the importance of nurses' theoretical and scientific knowledge within institutions that care for children at risk of cardiac arrest. This knowledge enables them to provide more agile care by organising the team based on their theoretical background. Therefore, there is a need to invest in training for professionals who provide direct assistance to patients in cardiac arrest.
Radiological aspects of medisatino-pulmonary sarcoidosis
Problem: Mediastino-pulmonary sarcoidosis is the most common form of the disease. Its radiological presentation is variable. Our aim is to study the presentation of the disease on standard radiographs and CT scans. Materials and methods: This is a retrospective, descriptive study covering a period of 20 years, collecting the records of patients followed up for confirmed mediastino-pulmonary sarcoidosis. Results: There were 35 patients with a mean age of 56.69 簣 14.42 (19-83 years). The most frequent parenchymal lesions were micronodules (71.4%), nodules (51.4%) and peribronchovascular thickening (40%). The lobes most affected were the LSD (77.1%) and middle lobe (74.3%). The most frequent lymph node involvement was hilar adenopathy (71.4%), followed by paratracheal adenopathy (60%) and the aorto-pulmonary window (54.3%). Conclusion: Sarcoidosis phenotypes are highly variable. CT scans play a major diagnostic and prognostic role.
Electromagnetic radiation in the human brain, origin and evolution
Electromagnetic radiation (EMR) interaction with the brain explains the metabolism and transport of neurotransmitters, messengers of synaptic transmission, with critical roles in cognitive and emotional behavior. Exposure to electromagnetic fields can cause structural and functional changes in the nervous system depending on the frequency of the radiation. The particle in the electromagnetic (EM) field for the function of the mind, we named as the "Mindtron", like the photon. Bioelectromagnetic studies the effects of EMR on living organisms, their effects depend upon the radiation's power and frequency. Neurotransmitters allow neurons to communicate with each other. They enable the brain to provide a variety of functions, through chemical synaptic transmission. Chemical synaptic transmission is through the release of neurotransmitters from presynaptic neural cells to postsynaptic receptors. Alterations in the levels of specific neurotransmitters are in neurological disorders, including Parkinson disease, schizophrenia, depression, and Alzheimer disease. There are several neurotransmitters used by the body for different functions, including acetylcholine, glutamate, GABA, glycine.
Role of Block-chain Technology in Medicine and Dentistry
A block chain is a distributed, public ledger, recording transaction and tracking assets, and of which immutability is guaranteed by a peer-to-peer network of computers, not by any centralized authority. Assets can be tangible, such as homes or cash, or they can be intangible, such as patents or copyrights. A block chain consists of ordered records arranged in a block structure. Each data block contains a hash (digital fingerprint or unique identifier), time stamped batches of recent transactions and a hash of the previous block. With this design, each block is connected in chronological order and the connected blocks are called a block chain. It is practically impossible to modify one of the blocks in the middle of the chain because all of the blocks after the modified block must be modified at the same time. With this mechanism, the data on the block chain network are immutable.A smart contract is a computer protocol that runs automatically when the prerequisites are met, and it is an entity separate from the original block chain technology.
Road Infrastructures Faced with Climate Challenges
Asphalt pavements are subject to a variety of climatic and mechanical stresses that can cause damage, compromising safety and necessitating costly repairs. To better understand these deterioration processes, electrical resistivity tomography was used to assess the resistivity of the supporting soil of four road sections: two on the RR 707 at Ifrane and two on the RN 13 at Azrou and Timhdit, before and during winter. Areas with low resistivity in winter are associated with road damage, suggesting that ERT could be used preventively to anticipate asphalt damage. Tests have also assessed the water sensitivity and fracture resistance of asphalt mixes (SCB) subjected to thermal cycling. Shale-based mixes proved more sensitive than limestone-based ones, but the addition of hydrated lime enhanced the resistance of both types.
Perinatal asphyxia in term newborns
Perinatal asphyxia of the term newborn is a serious complication of childbirth, and the third leading cause of neonatal mortality worldwide, after complications of prematurity and neonatal infections. It is defined as metabolic acidosis at birth, with a pH below 7.0 and a base deficit greater than or equal to 12 mmol/L. Cerebral lesions are responsible for life-threatening short-term consequences (hypoxo-anoxic encephalopathy, multivisceral failure), as well as long-term consequences, the most dreaded of which is cerebral palsy (CP), as well as mental retardation and epilepsy. To date, in the absence of effective pharmacological treatment, only therapeutic hypothermia (TH) has been shown to be effective in children with anoxic encephalopathy.
Five Element Acupuncture
PREFACE Praise be to God, and blessings be upon his Messenger, who gave me the opportunity to finish this book called "Five element acupuncture" after the books "Systematic acupuncture" and "Ear acupuncture" and present it to you, the reader. Acupuncture is a part of TCM and requires looking at the person from a holistic perspective. Acupuncture education and training is a very enjoyable process. It requires a long marathon. Unfortunately, I have witnessed many physician friends who did not use the correct method in this marathon, abandoning this race. I frequently used the art of simile in the approach in this book, where we explain acupuncture through a sequence of logic. Thus, abstract subjects and concepts that were difficult to understand by friends trained in Western Medicine became much easier to understand. If the reader learns this science in line with the principles I have explained, he will be able to make his own prescription for all kinds of diseases and will avoid being a point acupuncturist. In the book, I touched upon the basic acupuncture information that I deemed necessary regarding my subject, and tried to give the message I wanted to give directly, without extending the subject too much. I drew a picture for you in the book. I did not draw the whole picture, but the parts that I deemed important. I went into detail on some pieces that serve as touchstones to understand the whole picture. Thus, when the reader fully understands the cornerstone parts of the picture, he will be able to fill in the gaps in the picture very easily. This style of narration enabled us to convey, in a short content, a subject that could only be understood if volumes of books were written. Therefore, do not be fooled by the small volume of the book. The knowledge you will gain from many reference books that explain the subject in detail will not be more than the knowledge you will gain from this book. The book was written with an English translation. This book, in which acupuncture enthusiasts will find answers to many issues that they cannot understand, will fill a huge gap in its field with the explanations it provides on many issues whose boundaries are not clear. Diabetic Neuropathy
Diabetic neuropathy ranks first among the complications of diabetes. In order to evaluate the integral care of the diabetic patient, in terms of early detection and treatment of diabetic neuropathy, research was carried out in health systems and services through a descriptive observational study. 50.0% of the patients presented symmetrical and distal polyneuropathy, 25.9% being older than 70 years. The 87.0% were type 2 diabetics and 40.7% had been diagnosed between 10 and 15 years ago. There was a lack of quality in the follow-up and control in all the indicators studied, highlighting the affectation in the performance of the physical examination. The design of a professional improvement program on diabetic neuropathy is required immediately.
Morphometric Disease of the Stomach
MORPHOMETRIC DISEASE OF THE STOMACH: Comparative description of gastric morphometric indicators in chronic light disease and changes in bio stimulant action in postnatal ontogenesis. The process of food digestion plays a crucial role in the body's interaction with the external environment. The digestion process involves various substances in the food affecting the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract. However, it is important to note that the association of the mucous membrane and the main lymphoid structures in the mucous membrane and submucosa is not coincidental, indicating a non-random relationship between the immune system and the mucous membrane.
Benign breast tumors
Benign breast tumors are very common, occurring at all ages. They are dominated by fibroadenomas. Other, rarer tumors may pose a diagnostic problem. Benign tumors are often discovered during breast cancer screening. It can be the source of a more or less rich symptomatology, sometimes misleadingly pseudo-malignant. Optimal use of imaging modalities should help reassure patients, avoid unnecessary investigations and surveillance, and avoid surgical biopsies for diagnostic purposes. In the majority of cases, mammography-ultrasound can be used to diagnose these tumors. In some cases, MRI may be a useful adjunct. This book is designed primarily for radiologists involved in breast imaging.
Informational competencies in health technology students
Information and Communication Technologies are nowadays an indispensable tool in professional work, in order to dynamize research and productive processes at all levels. That is why digital and informational competences promote knowledge in societies and specifically for Health Sciences, they have a transcendent value. Higher Medical Education as a macro process for the undergraduate level, specifically shows the need for technologists to be trained in this type of competencies, which enable them to adapt to a digital era and to the constant changes in technology that are part of their professional practice, making them more competent and competitive once they reach the professional practice after graduation. In this context, the author proposes a methodological strategy for the use of ICT's in the formation of informational competences in this field for students of the Faculty of Technology of the University of Medical Sciences of Havana, Cuba.

Nasosinusal polyposis and quality of life
Chronic rhinosinusitis, with or without polyps, is one of the world's most common conditions, affecting around 14% of people in the USA.Nasosinus polyposis is a chronic rhinosinusitis characterized by multifocal, bilateral edematous degeneration of the mucosa of the lateral masses of the ethmoid. These polyps are the result of chronic inflammation of the nasosinus mucosa, with eosinophilic infiltration characteristic of the disease. Its pathophysiology remains poorly understood, and several studies and theories have attempted, and continue to attempt, to explain it. This obscure pathophysiology makes the aims of treatment, whether medical or surgical, not to cure this pathology, but rather to improve symptoms and quality of life for these patients.
Frequency of attempted self-harm and associated risk factors
Autolysis is the act by which a person intentionally causes death. The aim of this research was to determine the frequency of attempted autolysis and the associated risk factors in patients aged 7 to 13 years admitted to the Emergency Department of the Servicio Desconcentrado Hospital Universitario Pedi獺trico Dr. Agust穩n Zubillaga, during the period January 2017 to June 2022. A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted, whose population consisted of patients aged 7 to 13 years, 11 months and 29 days, with a diagnosis of attempted autolysis, the sample was census type non-probabilistic intentional and adjusted to the selection criteria, then the data were recorded in an instrument developed for this purpose and applied through the review of medical records as a secondary source, the results were presented in tables or graphs and statistical analysis was performed using computerized statistical packages such as the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), version 25.0 for calculations.

COVID-19 and pregnancy
The appearance of the new SARS CoV2 coronavirus in 2019 has caused a veritable health crisis worldwide. This respiratory-tropic virus can lead to clinical symptoms of varying severity, particularly in fragile populations such as pregnant women. During pregnancy, women undergo anatomical and physiological changes that make them vulnerable to COVID-19 infection, an infection which, through a cytokine storm, can lead to multivisceral damage that jeopardizes maternal and fetal prognosis. For this reason, knowledge of the physiological basis of the disease, the latest studies on the subject and the latest recommendations on the management of parturients affected by COVID-19 is essential for all attending physicians. At present, COVID-19 has not yet revealed all its secrets and enigmas, and there are still many controversial issues. In this work, which we dedicate to the colleagues who faced the pandemic, we address these topical issues, in particular the evolutionary aspect of the disease with new variants, the risk of immune evasion of the virus and the outlook for COVID-19.

Impact of Allergic Rhinitis on Serous Otitis in Children
Seromucosal otitis (SMO) is the leading cause of hearing loss and surgery in children, and allergic rhinitis (AR) has been identified as an independent risk factor for SMO. Allergic rhinitis (AR) has been identified as an independent risk factor for SSO, and our aim was to study the impact of AR on therapeutic outcomes in children undergoing surgery for SSO. We compared the clinical and audiometric results of 60 children who had had a trans-tympanic aerator (TTA) inserted for SSO. The children were divided into two groups (GI: OSM without RA and GII: OSM with RA) and included 60 children with a mean age of 6.5 years. The mean hearing threshold was higher in GII (43 dB vs. 39.5 dB). The prevalence of AR was 43%. The mean hearing threshold at three and six months after ATT insertion was lower for GII (18 dB vs. 21.5 dB at three months, and 16 dB vs. 18.5 dB at six months for G1). After removal of the ATT, the mean hearing threshold was 19 dB for the GI and 27 dB for the GII. Postoperatively, 32% of children presented with otorrhea, of which 25% were in GII. OSM recurrence after ATT extraction was observed in 7% of children (5% GII and 2% GII).
Evaluation of the national covid vaccine deployment plan
Introduction: Post-introduction evaluation of vaccines is standard practice in the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) within the healthcare system. It must be carried out within a well-defined period of time, between 6 and 18 months after the start of vaccination. Senegal has introduced Covid-19 vaccines into its immunization program through a national Covid-19 vaccine deployment plan since February 26, 2021. To our knowledge, no assessment has yet been carried out to evaluate the Covid-19 vaccine deployment plan in Senegal's expanded immunization program. This study enabled us to assess the situation two years after the deployment of these vaccines. Methods: This was a cross-sectional evaluative study carried out from July 02 to 14, 2023 in the Dakar medical region at all levels of the health pyramid, among the players involved in immunization (Prevention Directorate, Dakar medical region, three health districts and 8 immunization sites) to assess the preparation and implementation of the national plan for the deployment of Covid-19 vaccines in the expanded program on immunization in Senegal.
Malaria
Malaria is considered a serious public health problem worldwide due to the high burden of morbidity and mortality it causes, especially in tropical and subtropical countries, including those with low to medium economic income. It is a pathology whose primary risk factors contributing to the maintenance and reemergence of the disease are still unalterably persistent and with increasing growth and dispersion of resistance to antimalarial drugs. For this reason, this text aims to provide updated and quality information on the disease, parasite life cycle, biological characteristics of the parasite, transmission, parasite-host interaction, parasite genome-proteome, reservoirs, clinical manifestations in humans, diagnosis, treatment, epidemiological behavior of the disease, changes in the burden of morbidity and mortality, interaction between human and primate Plasmodium spp. species, sanitary measures for control and other aspects of great interest to health personnel.

Pathology of Ent Organs in Twins
Twins are two or more offspring born as a result of one pregnancy within a short time of each other. They can be one- (monozygotic), two- (dizygotic) or multi- (polyzygotic). According to statistics, on average, twins make up about 2% of all newborns, and triplets make up only 2% of all twins. The probability of having identical twins is not associated with hereditary and external factors and averages 3 per 1000 pregnancies, that is, 0.3%. According to the CDC, "For every 1,000 births, there are 32.1 twins. Among the general population in the 21st century, the probability of having twins is approximately 3 in 100 (about 3%)." For this reason, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of twins with diseases of the ENT organs remain relevant.

Eating isn't rocket science
Food is essential to life. Its main role is to nourish the body. That's how important it is to our health. Food choices depend on many factors: culture, social environment, income, food availability and personal taste, as well as our natural and original genetic make-up. Food is therefore a subject that touches on many aspects of life. This document does not pretend to cover the whole planet. It does, however, offer a quick overview of WHO EATS WHAT, WHO EATS WHO AND WHY?The aim of this book is to help medical professionals and all our readers understand the concept of the ecosystem, human dietary behaviour in the light of historical evolution from the first primates to modern man, and the advantages and disadvantages of certain diets adopted by humans, in order to make the right choice when it comes to nutrition.

The study of these structures is important and also applies to morphological analyses in the context of pathology and disease diagnosis.
Population Politics in the Tropics
Population Politics in the Tropics explores colonial population policies in Angola between 1890 and 1945 from a transimperial perspective. Using a wide array of previously unused sources and multilingual archival research from Angola, Portugal and beyond, Samu禱l Coghe sheds new light on the history of colonial Angola, showing how population policies were conceived, implemented and contested. He analyses why and how doctors, administrators, missionaries and other colonial actors tried to grasp and quantify demographic change and 'improve' the health conditions, reproductive regimes and migration patterns of Angola's 'native' population. Coghe argues that these interventions were inextricably linked to pervasive fears of depopulation and underpopulation, but that their implementation was often hampered by weak state structures, internal conflicts and multiple forms of African agency. Coghe's fresh analysis of demography, health and migration in colonial Angola challenges common ideas of Portuguese colonial exceptionalism.
Human Protozoal Pathogens and Potentially Pathogenic Amoebae
Intestinal protozoa that infect humans are found worldwide, in both the developed and the developing world. However, their prevalence is highest in the developing countries, where they are responsible for much morbidity. The pathogenic intestinal protozoa tend to affect either the small intestine, large intestine or both. Those that affect the small intestine are mainly Giardia intestinalis and Cryptosporidium parvum and tend to affect children while Entamoeba histolytica that affects all age groups (with its most profound effect on adults) have predilection for the large bowel. The epidemiology of intestinal protozoa has developed rapidly with the advent of HIV/AIDS and cancer chemotherapy. Free-living amoebiae that are exclusively parasitic are normally found in water and soil are known to cause some important diseases in man; three of these are: primary amoebic meningoencephalitis, granulomatous amoebic encephalitis with invasion of other tissues and chronic amoebic keratitis. This book provides quick reference material for clinical presentation, complications, diagnosis, management and prevention of amoebae - related infections.

Studies of candidiasis in infants
Candidiasis is a cosmopolitan disease caused by ubiquitous Candida yeasts.Irritant or convex dermatitis is an erythematous dermatitis that starts in areas of diaper friction, reaching the buttocks, external genitalia and thighs, forming a W shape and respecting the folds. Yeasts present in the stool can cause superinfection. In infants, diaper rash can develop very rapidly, particularly in the event of diarrhea. Our study was carried out at Mali Hospital. It is a 10-month prospective descriptive study from July 2020 to April 2021. All infants with diaper dermatitis were included in our study. Species identification tests of the Candida genus were performed using the AUXACOLOR(TM)2 gallery, the principle of which is based on the assimilation of sugars.
Rapid Review of MRI
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) allows doctors to see the inside of the human body in amazing detail using magnets and radio waves. The first MRI scanner used to image the human body was built in 1977 in New York. Since then, the technology has come a long way, and MRI is now used frequently to examine the inside of the human body. The advantage of MRI devices, unlike X-ray imaging devices or CT scans, is that radiation is not given to the body, and that is why the use of this diagnostic method has been more and more popular with specialists. The MRI scanner is a large tunnel containing powerful magnets. During the scan, the person lies down inside the tunnel. With MRI, almost any part of the body can be examined, including the brain and spinal cord, bones and joints, breasts, heart and blood vessels, and internal organs such as the liver, uterus, or prostate. The results of an MRI scan can be used to help diagnose conditions, plan treatment, and evaluate the effectiveness of previous treatment.

Niemann Pick disease and pregnancy
Acid sphingomyelinase (ASM) (sphingomyelin phosphodiesterase; EC 3.1.4.12) deficiency is an inborn error of metabolism that leads to the accumulation of sphingomyelin in cells and tissues and causes the clinical condition known as Niemann-Pick disease. We report the case of an AB patient followed for Niemann Pick disease since childhood. She had an emergency caesarean section at 38 weeks for a post-traumatic retroplacental haematoma. Uterine atony controlled by medical treatment. Simple postoperative course. Since the discovery of the first Niemann Pick patients over a century ago, enormous progress has been made in deciphering the pathophysiology of this disease and in developing new treatments.
