Its progression is associated with functional and structural abnormalities that damage target organs. For these reasons, hypertension is important risk factor for arteriosclerosis, myocardial infarction, heart failure and stroke. Despite extensive research conducted to investigate the mechanisms responsible for its pathogenesis, the exact cause of the appearance of increased blood pressure in most patients remains unknown.The primary aim of this book was to evaluate the therapeutic effects of Valsartan and Amlodipine, applied as monotherapy and combination therapy for treatment of hypertension followed by secondary complications. The effects of the studied drugs were analyzed through their protective action on the heart, aorta, kidneys and the brain in salt replete SHR rats.

Idiopathic Scoliosis Screening
Scoliosis is a pathology of the spine prevalent among children, adolescents, and young adults and affects about 1% to 13.8% of children and adolescents. Scoliosis is defined as a lateral curvature of the spine equal to or greater than 10o (ten degrees), diagnosed by simple radiographic examination. Typically, patients with scoliosis have ample thoracic and limb functional capacity. However, late diagnosis cases that present curvature progression may present cardiopulmonary complications due to the deformity of the rib cage. The treatment of patients with scoliosis ranges from observation, use of a brace, and surgery, and the prognosis is related to the degree of curvature. Therefore, early diagnosis is fundamental to guide treatment and avoid progression of the curvature. The aim of this study is to verify the parameters of higher interobserver correlation of the several variables of the physical examination of idiopathic scoliosis with the help of an application developed for a smartphone. Our study will serve as a basis for future validation of the application as an effective tool in idiopathic scoliosis screening.

Safe practices in low complexity home care
Domiciliary services provide care to patients who, due to their clinical condition, remain with specific care at home. Being the user's residence a place not designed for health care, it offers additional risks to those of a hospital environment, requiring specific guidelines for this environment. Based on the analysis of knowledge and experiences of events and incidents in home care, four safe practices are proposed for this model of care, favoring coordinated work among its actors, with emphasis on risk management by providers, caregivers and patients in low complexity care. This descriptive observational study includes a bibliographic search of related information; the analysis of adverse events in low complexity home care that allows characterizing the main events; semi-structured surveys to professionals, patients, caregivers and leaders of the system, aimed at gathering knowledge and experiences on safe practices implemented.

We present a model based on patient anatomy to predict the percentage of ipsilateral lung and/or heart volume receiving at least a certain dose in breast treatments with static tangential fields of external radiotherapy. The introduction will briefly guide us through the disease of breast cancer and the importance of external radiotherapy in its treatment, as well as the work involved in a radiotherapy treatment until we reach the core of the work: the theoretical framework of the model. The variables defined in the theoretical framework and computable through the DICOM structure file of each patient, will be useful to predict the volume occupied by the isodose within the organs at risk.

As reported by the Ministry of Health, Equality and Social Affairs (2021), on December 31, 2019, the Wuhan Municipal Health and Sanitation Commission (Hubei Province, China) reported 27 incidences with cases of pneumonia of unknown origin, with a common manifestation in users of a wholesale seafood, fish and live animal market in that city, including 7 severe cases.Therefore, the aim of this work is; to determine the effects of a moderate aerobic exercise program combined with respiratory therapy on physical fitness, health-related quality of life, executive functions and pulmonary function in a survivor of SARS-CoV-2 induced bilateral atypical pneumonia after hospital discharge.The 8-week intervention program consisted of the application of different respiratory exercises plus others aimed at improving cardiorespiratory endurance and muscular strength.The results show an improvement in the physical condition, executive functions, and pulmonary function of our participant.

Formulation and evaluation of floating Tablets of atenolol reduces the hypertension. Gastroretentive tablets were formulated using direct compression method by using varying concentrations of retardant HPMC K4M with sodium bicarbonate.The formulations were evaluated for different physicochemical properties like hardeness, thickness, weight variation, friability, uniformity of drug content and invitro drug release studies. Invitro drug release was carried out using USP type I (basket) at 50 rpm in 900 ml of acidic dissolution medium (pH 1.2) for 6 hours. It is observed that optimum concentration of polymer with citric acid was able to produce the desired formulation which releases complete drug in six hours.

Simulation can also help test planned interventions and infrastructural changes, allowing possible vulnerabilities and risks to be identified and addressed. Challenges include cost, resources, training, and evaluation, and the lack of connection between the simulation and improvement fields, both in practice and in scholarship. The business case for simulation as an improvement technique remains to be established. This Element reviews the evidence for three workplace conditions that matter for improving quality and safety in healthcare: staffing; psychological safety, teamwork, and speaking up; and staff health and well-being at work. COVID-19 is the most prominent and rapidly evolving public health concern in the world currently. The gastrointestinal manifestations of COVID-19 are increasingly being recognized. SARS-CoV-2 infection has been associated with the occurrence of nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. SARS-CoV-2 has also been causing pancreatic and hepatic injury. Emerging data have shown that COVID-19 patients continue to shed the virus into their stools, even when patients test negative for COVID-19 in pulmonary secretions. However, the epidemiology, pathogenesis, and treatment of SARS-CoV-2-related gastrointestinal manifestations are poorly understood.The pandemic has also had a significant impact on gastroenterologists, endoscopists, and other ancillary staff. Moreover, in the past, systematic respiratory virus syndrome (SARS) was shown to be transmitted by endoscopes, which is a big concern with COVID-19, as it shares many pathological features with SARS. The deferral of elective endoscopic procedures has negatively affected gastroenterologists.This Special Issue focuses on the current situation of this pandemic. It aims to provide insight into the gastrointestinal manifestations of COVID-19 and its effects on endoscopic procedures.
