Flax is a herbaceous plant whose seeds are rich in polysaccharides, polyphenolics and essential fatty acids that are beneficial to health and could help prevent certain diseases.First, the effectiveness of this plant in healing experimental burns in rabbits was evaluated. Flaxseed oil significantly and rapidly reduced the surface area of the wounds compared to other treatments. The histological study showed that wounds treated with linseed oil showed thinning of the epidermis and more marked neo-vascularization of the granulation tissue, which is favorable for good tissue regeneration. Given these results, flaxseed oil could be suggested as a promising phyto-healing agent.The aim of the second experiment is to estimate the hair regrowth in adult rabbits. The trichogenic effect is quite marked. Indeed, the results show that the ingestion of flax seeds results in an increase in the length of the strands collected with a slight growth in the diameter of the hair. The use of this plant could thus be proposed as a promising treatment for alopecia.

Salmonella Isolated from Fishermen and Fish Harvested from Lake Fincha, Ethiopia. Occurrence, Risk Factors and Antimicrobial Susceptibility
Master's Thesis from the year 2021 in the subject Veterinary medicine, language: English, abstract: Salmonella is one of the most common foodborne and important zoonotic pathogens worldwide. Because of the difficulties in ensuring optimal hygienic food handling practices, the problem is even more severe in developing countries. A cross-sectional study with a simple random sampling approach was conducted to estimate the occurrence, identifying risk factors, and assessing the antimicrobial susceptibility profile of Salmonella isolated from fishermen and fish species from Fincha Lake. Salmonella was isolated, phenotypically identified by Omni Log and the antimicrobial susceptibility test was performed using the disk diffusion method and interpreted following the Clinical Laboratory Standard Institute recommendations. Tilapia (220), common carp (85), and catfish (79) were the most known fish species in Lake Fincha. Samples were collected from skins (65), Gills ( 96 ), Intestines ( 110 ), and Muscles (113 ) parts of these three species. Muscles 3 (2.65%) samples were found to be the most Salmonella positive, followed by gills 2 (2.08 %). No Salmonella was isolated from fishermen's hand swabs (0%).The prevalence of salmonella in fish was 1.30 % ( 95% confidence interval (CI ): 0.42-3.01 ).The overall prevalence of Salmonella in the study area was 1.21% ( 95% CI: 0.39-2.80 ) . All of the isolated Salmonella (n=5) belongs to S. Typhimurium Serovars. The antimicrobial susceptibility test revealed that the isolates were resistant to Cefotaxime, Tetracycline, and Ampicillin disks. However, Chloramphenicol, Sulfamethaxazole+Trimethoprim, Amoxicillin + Clavulanic acid, Gentamicin and Cefoxitin were found effective in inhibiting the growth of all of the isolates. Isolation of Salmonella from fish was associated with contamination of the harvesting areas, contamination of the Lake, collecting and processing materials and equipment. No matter how hard they try, at some point they will cross their own tracks and despair, because they realize that they will never make it back to civilization. Surprisingly enough, the belief that people walk in circles when lost is mainly based on anecdotal evidence and has never been studied systematically in a real desert or forest. Scientists have now presented the -first empirical evidence that people can't walk in a straight line and really do walk in circles when they do not have reliable cues to their walking direction. It turned out that these circles were rarely in a systematic direction. Instead, the same person sometimes veered to the left, sometimes to the right. Walking in circles is therefore not caused by differences in leg length or strength, but more likely the result of increasing uncertainty about where straight ahead is. Thinking about walking in circles and trying to walk a straight line-even with all the volumes of information we have accumulated about how life began we still - nd ourselves getting lost and turning in circles trying to solve one of sciences greatest outstanding mysteries. Even the individual pathways in metabolism are intricate. It is hard to imagine how such an intricate process could have started by itself.Complicating things further, each step is controlled by a molecule called an enzyme, which speeds up the chemical reactions in question. Enzymes are complicated molecules that can only be made through metabolism, under the control of genes.So, scientists face a biochemical chicken-or-the-egg dilemma: Which came -first, the chemical engine to build the cell, or the cellular mechanisms needed to build the engine?In the quest for -finding certainty in our pursuit for truth and understanding, it seems to me good council to consider what is written in 1Kings 19:11012. Animal Suffering, Human Rights, and the Virtue of Justice
In this book, Per Bauhn does three things. First, he outlines some aspects of contemporary philosophical views on animals and morality, including the criticism of speciesism and the animal rights argument. Second, he criticizes these views, arguing that we cannot escape a speciesist perspective on morality, and that there are no good reasons why we should believe that non-human animals have moral rights. Third, he argues that cruelty against non-human animals is morally wrong, but not because animal rights are being violated but because human agents who inflict cruelty on non-human animals are failing their duty to develop in themselves the virtue of justice. This latter argument is reminiscent of Immanuel Kant's idea that we have only indirect duties towards animals, but unlike that idea, Bauhn's argument does not depend on any causal hypothesis that humans who are cruel to animals are likely to be cruel also to their fellow humans. Instead, Bauhn's argument relies on the fact that being cruel to non-human animals and other innocent beings is conceptually and logically inconsistent with the virtue of justice - a virtue which agents are rationally required to develop in themselves.

The intensification of livestock systems is normally accompanied by the use of chemical nitrogen fertilizers, but these can be substituted by the nitrogen biologically fixed by leguminous plants associated with existing grasses in the pasture, which can lead to an increase in biomass production. Traditionally, animal production systems in the Mexican tropics are based on the use of native forage species of low productivity. However, when the intention is to intensify animal production, introduced forage species are used, both grasses and legumes; but in the case of the latter, their permanence in the field is short, that is why the use of Arachis pintoi; associated with grasses; has been noted for its persistence under grazing, but its survival mechanisms are not fully understood to date, so this study aims to provide a minimum part of the basic knowledge of these mechanisms, in order to improve the management of these species under the conditions of the Mexican humid tropics.This would allow the sustainability of dual-purpose cattle raising.

Epidemiology of G.I. Nematodes of Small Ruminants of Uttarakhand
This book contains the epidemiology, bioclimatograph and anthelmintic assessment of gastrointestinal nematodes of sheep and goats of Uttarakhand. The results of epidemiology indicated that sheep and goats were infected with G.I. strongyles throughout the year in both tarai and hill regions of Uttarakhand with the highest prevalence being in rainy season. Bioclimatographs prepared can serve as prediction models to aid in devising management strategies against strongyles. Based on the epidemiological pattern of G.I. nematodes in sheep and goats, it is suggested that they should be treated with anthelmintics once in May/June, August/September and February/March. Both sheep and goats harboured predominantly Haemonchus parasites besides Trichostrongylus, Oesophagostomum, Strongyloides and Bunostomum - which exert negative effects on productivity of animals as suggested by increased weight gains and improvement in haemato-biochemical alterations post-treatment with anthelmintics. These epidemiological findings can thus be utilized in formulating an effective control programme against G.I. nematodosis.
Anthelmintic Efficacy of Ethno-Veterinary Herbs
The traditional knowledge of tribals was scientifically validated where investigation was undertaken to evaluate in vivo anthelmintic efficacy of Nigella sativa (Kaloji), Swertia chirata (Chirayata)and Piper longum (Pippali) on gastrointestinal nematodes in naturally infected goats. Besides the anthelminitc efficacy of the aforesaid indigenous plants, the haematological and clinical observations were made to find out their safety levels in goats. The extractability and phytochemical composition of N. sativa, S. chirata and P. longum were also determined to find out the presence of bioactive principles in the indigenous plants.

Thoughts on my Thoughts
In 1952 Stanley L. Miller carried out the Miller-Urey experiment which showed that complex organic molecules could be synthesized from inorganic compounds. This discovery gave a huge boost to the scientific investigation of the origin of life. Indeed, for some time it seemed like the creation of life in a test tube was within reach of experimental science. This "God-like" discovery had a strong influence on the atmosphere in science classes I attended in the 60's. Over the centuries nature and man through natural and man's selection have changed the appearance and productivity of plant and animal life. The life we observe today is much different than seen by earlier civilizations. The laws of natural selection, survival of the fittest and genetic material placed into plant and animal genomes from infections by viruses and bacteria over the eons of time have ensured that the evolution of living matter is a continuing dynamic force. Modern research is also changing life on our world by removing or splicing genetic material in living organisms. These efforts have made it possible to increase food production and nutritional value as well as help prevent or control inherited human diseases.We have come a long way since Stanley Miller's experiment creating organic building blocks that make up the temporal bodies of the plant and animal kingdom. However, man has never created a living organism from basic matter that makes up the earth and given it the "spark of life" and the ability to regenerate itself. The only documented place I've found where a living organism has been created that could reproduce others of its kind is in Gen 2:7 "then the Lord God formed (that is, created the body of a) man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the man became a living being (an individual complete in body and spirit)." And, it appears that He also breathed life into the plants and animals. I'm grateful to have had the opportunity of being able to touch some of God's creations during my lifetime and can't wait for the day when I may meet with Him and ask, "Just how did you do that?"
