Racism and Antisemitism in the Mental Health System
"Why do we have to remind them we are human?"Did you know there used to be a mental illness called Drapetomania, where Black slaves were deemed mad for wanting to be free and flee captivity? Did you also know the beginnings of both psychiatry and psychology privileged the white man's purported rationality as the default, as the aspiration of health, of superiority, without the science or moral argument to back it up?Psychiatry and psychology both have deeply embedded racist beliefs in their foundations. Have they moved away from these spurious, repellent ideals and made amends? Read the survivor's stories and come to you your own conclusions. The majority of books in mental health archives and libraries are written by professionals. The survivor or patient voice is not allowed to carry any weight. Why should the people who've never visited a land be that country's prime historians? It is like lions representing bird song in roars.
Healthy Communities
The book covers the environment in which the individual is inserted and presents itself as an ideal space to practise proposals, strategies and actions involving health promotion and prevention, considering the countless influences that come from the reality in which individuals are inserted, in this context the family and the environment. With this in mind, the aim of this book is to assess the health conditions of elderly people living in a Long Stay Institution for the Elderly in Bel矇m do Par獺.
Nursing, Covid and the End of Resilience

It includes chapters on the ethical and legal framework related to patient safety, the equality, diversity and inclusion context, advocacy and empowerment, risk, and human factors as well as accountability and harm. Notably, there is also a focus on two in-depth chapters which explore patient safety in relation to medication management and end-of-life care.Throughout the book, there are numerous reflection points, examples of case law and illustrative case studies and thinking points to help the reader apply key principles to aid their learning and think critically. Patient Safety in Clinical Practice offers a fresh insight into the link between patient safety and holistic care. Elderly health
Population ageing is one of the most notorious phenomena in the world today, bringing with it cultural, social and political repercussions. Brazil is a rapidly ageing country. Today, the National Policy for the Elderly has as its fundamental guideline the maintenance of the autonomy and functional capacity of the elderly. It can be concluded that physical and mental activity leads to quality ageing, as it promotes improvements in respiratory capacity, cardiac reserve, reaction time, muscle strength, recent memory, cognition and social skills. It therefore helps to treat depression in the elderly.

Elderly people caring for an elderly relative at home
The process of demographic and epidemiological transition, followed by the progressive increase in the number of elderly people, points to a new reality: the need for elderly family caregivers. This study allowed us to understand how elderly family caregivers experience the process of caring for an elderly family member at home, even in the face of negative repercussions, such as the lack of family support, and the difficulties they experience on a daily basis, such as the lack of institutionalized support for caring for others. Regardless of whether or not they have family or institutionalized support, caregivers find "empowerment" to face the challenges of being a family caregiver on a daily basis, through religiosity/spirituality. At this stage of life, there is a change in perspective from a materialistic and pragmatic view of the world to a cosmic and transcendent one. While they seek support from a metaphysical force, the elderly use religious-spiritual coping to face the situations that arise in their lives, attributing to the sacred the strength to persevere and continue on their path, growing old and caring for one or more other elderly people at home.
Comparison of adenocarcinoma of the right and left colon
Colon cancer is a public health problem. The differentiation between right and left colon cancer is a topical issue. This study investigates the impact of colon cancer location (right or left) on the prognosis of patients after curative surgery. Carried out over a five-year period and including 105 patients, the study shows no significant differences in terms of overall survival and recurrence-free survival between the two groups. However, poor prognostic factors common to both localizations were identified, such as advanced tumor stage and the presence of peri-nerve sheathing. Specific differences were also observed, such as the presence of peritonitis on the right side and lymph node involvement on the left. In addition, epidemiological, clinical and histological variations were noted between the two groups. The study underlines the importance of early detection in improving the prognosis of colon cancer.

The results showed that the role of nursing is indispensable in the knowledge of these procedures in order not only to fulfil the prescription but also to care for the jaundiced newborn with knowledge, safety, efficiency and special care to achieve the results. The study leads to the conclusion that nursing has a wide-ranging role, from the complete identification of components, handling, choice, adaptation, adjustment and irradiance measurement of phototherapy devices with or without the baby, to the specific care of the newborn undergoing phototherapy treatment in order to obtain the best results, in the shortest time and with the minimum acceptable side effects in this practice.
Effects of Same-Day ART initiation on Treatment Outcomes
Seminar paper from the year 2023 in the subject Health - Public Health, course: Public Health, language: English, abstract: The aim of this study was to determine the effects of the same day ART initiation on viral suppression; and identify predicators of viral suppression in the era of test and treat strategy. A quantitative multicenter retrospective cohort study was conducted using routinely collected data in ART clinics during the initial and follow-up visits of clients in 18 public health facilities in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The same day initiation of antiretroviral treatment among PLHIV with age greater or equal to 15, regardless of their CD4 count can reduce morbidity, mortality, HIV transmission and eventually the incidence of new HIV infection. However, the effect of the same day ART initiation on viral suppression remains contradicting. The viral load suppression rate among the same day ART started was higher compared to those started ART after seven days, and is consistent with previous studies in other countries. TDF- based regimen, alive and on ART follow-up status, and working functional status were predicators of viral suppression in this study. Strengthening the same day ART initiation with TDF based regimen is critical for prevention of HIV through viral suppression. Improving the quality of ART data is also essential to generate evidence and inform the practice.
Nursing, its attitudes and behaviour towards suicide
For 10 years I have been dealing with people suffering from self-harm in various health institutions. I have had the sublime opportunity to continue dealing with this issue, now through academia. Learning about the attitudes and behaviours of nursing staff in the face of suicidal behaviour was a great learning experience, as a wide variety of information was collected, and between rights, technical capacity and feelings towards suicidal patients, professionals can demonstrate the most diverse conditions, from fear and insecurity to unwillingness to deal with this public. This work contributes with proposals for the nursing team that works in emergencies when faced with the phenomenon of suicide. May it inspire those who want to train these professionals to deal better with people who try to take their own lives. I dedicate this book to those who once walked into the unknown, down the path of death through suicide. I am truly sorry! May your family, friends or acquaintances be confident in their quest to understand this reality. Also dedicated to Amanda S獺 Magrini, Luigi S獺 Magrini, Maria Elisa Rosato and Marcos Antonio Magrini.
Institutionalising Old People
This work carried out a conceptual theoretical study on ageing and the major changes that accompany this process in our society, emphasising the implications for the institutionalisation of the elderly. Based on considerations about the phenomenon of ageing in Brazil, the research sought to analyse the context of shelters for the elderly and the care provided by Long Stay Institutions (ILPIs). Our general aim was to reflect on the socio-historical aspects that make up an institution for the care of the elderly and the repercussions of the institutionalisation process on ageing and frail individuals. The specific objectives were: to describe the gerontological practices carried out in ILPIs and the nuances achieved by the perception of the ageing process; to problematise institutionalised old age in an interdisciplinary way; to present the psychoanalytical aspects that have an impact on the discomfort of ageing in contemporary times; to research issues relating to enclosure, reminiscence and resistance.
Profile of gastrostomy patients and the role of the carer
When care is provided in hospital by a specialised professional, it is believed to be easy for this professional to do, due to the skills and techniques learnt in training, developed for procedures and strategies to provide the best care for human beings. However, when the experience of caring is within the family, there are difficulties. Thus, a professional nurse specialised in all aspects is needed to accompany and train the family member/caregiver. A multi-professional and interdisciplinary team is needed that is attuned to each other and to all the family's anxieties and doubts; supporting decisions and sustaining care at home for patients with gastrostomies. As such, this book addresses issues pertinent to the needs of encephalopathic patients with gastrostomies; showing their profile, revealing the profile of the patient's family members/carers and unveiling crucial care for these patients. However, this book provides professional guidance, especially for nurses who deal with these issues on a daily basis.

Breastfeeding and neonatology
Prematurity continues to cause public health concerns and accounts for the majority of perinatal morbidity and mortality, which can have repercussions in terms of immediate damage and late sequelae. Among the most important strategies that significantly contribute to reducing the risks for this population is breastfeeding. In addition to being the best food for babies, breast milk contributes to a reduction of up to 13% in infant mortality in children under five years of age (LARA, 2021). Breastfeeding, however, is still a challenge, especially in neonatal units. And if breastfeeding is not constantly encouraged, maintaining milk production can be compromised. With the aim of reducing neonatal mortality rates and improving care for newborns in maternity hospitals, the Ministry of Health (MoH), through the General Coordination of Child Health and Breastfeeding (CGSCAM/DAPES/SAS), established the QualiNEO Strategy. This strategy is made up of ten steps, the fourth of which is: "Feed the newborn (NB) as early as possible and preferably with the baby's milk.
