Breastfeeding and neonatology
Prematurity continues to cause public health concerns and accounts for the majority of perinatal morbidity and mortality, which can have repercussions in terms of immediate damage and late sequelae. Among the most important strategies that significantly contribute to reducing the risks for this population is breastfeeding. In addition to being the best food for babies, breast milk contributes to a reduction of up to 13% in infant mortality in children under five years of age (LARA, 2021). Breastfeeding, however, is still a challenge, especially in neonatal units. And if breastfeeding is not constantly encouraged, maintaining milk production can be compromised. With the aim of reducing neonatal mortality rates and improving care for newborns in maternity hospitals, the Ministry of Health (MoH), through the General Coordination of Child Health and Breastfeeding (CGSCAM/DAPES/SAS), established the QualiNEO Strategy. This strategy is made up of ten steps, the fourth of which is: "Feed the newborn (NB) as early as possible and preferably with the baby's milk.

Analysis of self-efficacy in Parkinson’s patients who exercise
Ageing is inevitable in people's lives. The search for a better quality of life during this process is one of the great challenges. Increasing age involves various factors, which are influenced by the environment in which the person is inserted. How can aging be analyzed from the individual's own perspective? Test their limitations? Encourage them to break down these barriers in search of a better quality of life? Among the existing concepts for analyzing aging in a broader way, this article will deal with the concept of self-efficacy. This methodology proposes that individuals establish their own perception of their abilities and competencies, in the face of aspects and challenges related to their social and individual life in society. The study involved elderly people with Parkinson's disease, a chronic dysfunction that affects and limits the individual in both physical and mental aspects. To this choice was added a program of strength exercises, a preventive and therapeutic alternative to minimize the motor and non-motor symptoms of the disease. Finally, an analysis of the concept of self-efficacy was applied. This approach is very relevant today.

5 Coins and a Cup
"In the deep silence of a Thursday night, just after midnight, a simple warm ham and cheese roll spiraled my life into chaos. Assisted by my cab driver, I stumbled into the A&E Room at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, unbeknownst to me that I was about to face a life-threatening crisis. What started as a minor discomfort soon exploded into a catastrophic ordeal. My stomach had ruptured, spilling its contents violently within me-contents meant for a far less dramatic exit. Over the next few hours, my threshold for pain was not just tested but completely redefined. As I writhed in agony, begging anyone who would listen to render me unconscious, I couldn't help but envy the blissful oblivion of Dexter's victims on Netflix. Caught in the relentless churn of what felt like a washing machine filled with rocks, broken glass, and fish hooks, I reached the nadir of my existence. This is not just the story of how I didn't die, but also how I survived the aftermath of NHS postoperative care-an ordeal perhaps even more daunting than the injury itself."

Homeless people, drug use and socio-cultural care
Drug use in our society is perceived as a public health and social problem. Homeless people are associated with problematic drug use and gain visibility in the media and society with the stigma of "drug addicts" and "criminals". To tackle the problem, there are models of care in the areas of health and justice that work on the issue of the disease and criminality of drug use. In this book, we expand on an interdisciplinary debate about street people who use drugs, understanding it as a socio-cultural issue and addressing the need for a broader view of care that realises that the demands of health and drug use must be seen from the perspective of culture, social territories, identity and life stories. The aim is to demystify stigmas, introducing a debate on the relevance of a socio-cultural model for health, drugs and society. The work is aimed at students and professionals in health, communication and the humanities and social sciences. It is also aimed at social actors involved in social change and improvement on the subject of drugs and care.

Unfolding case studies provide new information over time, teaching you to think critically and apply what you've learned in nursing school to real-life situations you'll face on the job. This second edition includes three new chapters providing case studies on approaching the patient interview, assessing vital signs, and assessing mental status.

Providing Compassionate Care for Elderly
Compassionate care is an international priority for healthcare professionals, particularly in the nursing profession. It has been reported as the essence of nursing care. In clinical settings, compassionate care can increase patients' trust and satisfaction, aiding recovery. For the caregivers, it also improves their job satisfaction and retention. However, healthcare professionals are faced with challenges in providing compassionate care because of the demands of high-quality care with fewer resources. The situation is even more challenging in caring for elderly people, who may need more compassionate care. Since there is little work done on compassionate care in the Egyptian cultural context, studying this phenomenon could provide a deep understanding of compassionate care from the perspective of Egyptian nurses.

The Effectiveness of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP)
Bachelor Thesis from the year 2023 in the subject Health - Fitness and Health Management, grade: A, course: Health, language: English, abstract: The condition known as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, or COPD, is common and frequently results in hospital admissions for emergency care. It is associated with elevated rates of morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. A vital component of hospital care for acute breathing difficulties, resulting mostly from cardiac coronary artery disease, is persistent positive airway pressure, or CPAP. Although it seems sense that early CPAP application in the pre-hospital situation would improve the health of patients, there aren't many outcomes research studies to support this theory. This systematic review and meta-analysis set out to find out how well CPAP worked for COPD patients in out-of-hospital settings. I evaluated possible publications as an impartial reviewer after doing a literature assessment of additional literature and bibliographic databases. Publications that contrasted CPAP therapy (along with standard care) with no CPAP for COPD in the prehospital context were considered. Studies examining other non-invasive ventilation techniques were excluded. The Cochrane Collaboration's recommendations were used to evaluate the methodology. The frequency of intubations, death rates, medical conditions, and dyspnea score were among the outcomes. To quantify the pooled effect of CPAP on outcomes, forest plots were built.
The Nurses of Ellis Island
The Nurses of Ellis Island: Life and Work inside the Golden Door tells the story of the nurses who offered hope and healing to some of America's most vulnerable patients. In the once-modern hospital complex on the southwest side of Ellis Island, a small group of nurses from the U.S. Public Health Service expertly cared for more than 150,000 patients of all ages and backgrounds, suffering from every imaginable illness and injury. These nurses, who lived and worked in the hospital built between the Main Immigration Building and the Statue of Liberty, learned to embrace their roles as both compassionate caregivers and agents of the state, all while navigating the impact of major sociopolitical events that included two world wars, a global pandemic, and increasingly restrictive immigration legislation. Drawing from government records, archival sources, and newly uncovered memoirs from the nurses themselves, award-winning authors and accomplished nurse historians Michelle Hehman and Arlene Keeling reconstruct the lived experience of nursing on Ellis Island during the first half of the twentieth century. This tale of nursing at its finest is a stunning narrative of triumph and tragedy that brings to life the largely invisible yet indispensable work of nursing at the intersection of immigration and public health policy.
Topics in Gerontology
Caring for an Alzheimer's patient often triggers new demands for caregivers, family members and society. In Brazil, the Brazilian Alzheimer's Association (ABRAz) was set up in 1992 to offer support to caregivers. By means of a systematic review, this study identified the topics covered in research carried out with ABRAZ caregiver support groups and linked them to studies in the Geriatrics and Gerontology Treatise. A total of 526 articles were found and 16 were selected after classification. They were grouped into 22 gerontology themes and then subdivided into three subareas: aspects related to caregivers; the Alzheimer's patient; and the support network of caregivers and/or the Alzheimer's patient. The different themes highlight the vast heterogeneity of the demands made by caregivers of Alzheimer's patients, with around 70% being directly related to the caregivers, many demands may have causal issues between them, and gerontological interventions are indicated for their resolution.
Caring for patients with neoplastic wounds
Neoplastic wounds represent a distressing burden for patients facing a prognosis of terminal illness, since they are lesions that have no possibility of healing, disfigure the physical appearance and develop symptoms that are difficult to control. The aim of this study was to verify the knowledge and practice of nurses in caring for patients with neoplastic wounds. This is a descriptive study with a quantitative design carried out with 22 nurses from a philanthropic hospital in Campina Grande - PB between April and June 2016. The results showed that nurses have gaps in their knowledge of content and techniques for assessing and treating patients with neoplastic wounds. In addition, it was found that nurses do not provide some of the care required for this clientele. The research institution therefore needs to invest in continuing education in order to train the nursing team to monitor patients with these lesions, acquire the necessary materials and implement care protocols to guide the practice of assessment and therapeutic methods for caring for these patients.

This book presents a comprehensive overview of quinazoline and its derivatives. The chapters address recent advances in the synthesis of several different heterocyclic compounds, the use of computational studies for finding new active quinazoline derivatives, the biological activities of quinazoline, and much more.
Non-verbal communication in physiotherapy
The term communicate comes from the Latin communicare and means "to put in common". Learning how to communicate non-verbally is not only possible, but necessary, given its importance for intersubjective interactions at all levels of our lives: personal, professional, social, among others, and it allows us to broaden the scope of health work to a promotional perspective. Promoting holistic care that involves biological, emotional, social and spiritual needs must involve an effective communication process between therapist and subject. This book therefore invites you to revisit yourself as a health professional and to reflect on "caring" beyond pathology.
