Roque Spencer Maciel de Barros
This research analyzes the role that Roque Spencer Maciel de Barros played through the press in defense of democratic schools during the Campaign in Defense of Public Schools, an important civil movement that was unleashed during the final stages of the first National Education Guidelines and Bases Law (Law 4.024/1961) - 1959-1961. In Brazil, the period between the end of the 1950s and the beginning of the 1960s was marked by political, social, economic and cultural effervescence, among which were intense discussions about the importance of education for the development of society, a context that led Roque Spencer Maciel de Barros to debate, through the press, the need to build an elementary education system entirely offered and supervised by the State, which would be able to train qualified labor to meet the needs of the job market and contribute to the process of social and economic development.
The Political Economy of Immigration in The Netherlands
Economists measure the effects of immigration through the yardstick of income. This book offers a broad survey of the conventional approach but in addition, also considers better measures of welfare or well-being and provides a detailed description and evaluation of policies - rules, regulations and implementation. The book offers a long, historical perspective on the development of population density in the Netherlands. It begins with the history of the Netherlands: geological and cultural formation of the land - and water - and population development. The Netherlands is unique in that much of the land is man-made, in particular the western part, which is, economically speaking, the most developed area. It is also special for its very high population growth rate that took off during the 19th century. The key argument of the book is that population size is irrelevant for income per capita, that land is a binding constraint in the Netherlands and that negative external effects of increasing population size lead to welfare losses from further population growth, whether by natural growth or by immigration. At present, the battle for scarce land is intense and bitter, with a strong clash between developers who want to build houses, farmers who do not want to give up farming and conservationists who increasingly find support in the courts for insufficiently caring for the natural environment. The book combines a general analysis of population density, both theoretical and empirical, with an in-depth presentation of actual policies in a country with intense pressure on available land.

Innovation and Resistance
This work develops a study that allows us to understand why some math teachers are resistant to the possibilities of changes that occur in their area of knowledge, in a relationship between innovation and teaching methodology, including the diversification of their assessment instruments. Factors responsible for teachers' attitudes against innovation in math teaching are studied, such as their working conditions or their experience of the classroom throughout their careers, including their basic education. To this end, an approach is made relating resistance and innovation, Traditional Teaching and Innovative Teaching, going through the study of the National High School Curriculum Organizations based on the modifications proposed by the government of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. In the conclusions, it is possible to highlight some factors that lead to resistance to changes in the teaching of mathematics, such as: working conditions and educational policies; factors responsible for some teachers having an aversion to what can be called innovation in the classroom.

The Formation of the Reflective Teacher
Reflecting, rethinking, changing. How many times do we ask ourselves what we do as a teacher, our practice, our methodology? How many refresher courses we attend, but in practice everything remains the same. This book brings to the debate the teacher's reflection on their practice as a teacher, re-elaborating their role as a student. We teach as we learn. Today our way of teaching no longer meets the demands we have in the classroom. We need to re-engineer ourselves as learners, open ourselves up to the new, reflect on what can be changed and updated. Through its techniques, psycho-pedagogy can help this process of rediscovering the learner-learner. I wish you all a good read and reflection on practice.

Image Transcoding
This book deals with a current passion: photography. However, producing photographs without thinking about how to recover or locate an image among so many others means that the volume of "lost" images becomes ever greater. It is in this space that Knowledge Organization acts and contributes as a facilitator of searches and validations of moments stored in everyday images. The transcoding of the document must reflect an organization based on methods and tools already used in Information Science, in the discipline of Archivology. Recognizing the provenance of the image has a direct impact on the organization process, maintaining the integrity of the information that is translated from the freezing of an instant, i.e. the photograph.
Professional (Women’s) Education in Brazil
The history of Brazilian education is heterogeneous and plural; it is shaped by a multiplicity of institutions, laws, cultures and subjects. One of these institutional histories is addressed in this work by Fabiana Reis. Through an analysis of the early years of the Nilo Pe癟anha Women's Professional School in Campos, she provides a portrait of the formal post-primary education reserved for less well-off women in the first decades of the 20th century, in a city in the interior of the state of Rio de Janeiro. With clear and direct writing, Fabiana presents readers with an analysis of a type of institution that has been little studied in Brazilian historiography. The result of research that prioritized unpublished school documents, the book shows the content transmitted and the behaviors to be inculcated, as well as the disciplinary practices adopted by the teaching staff, inspectors and principal. With an extensive course load, the students were introduced to the world of science, letters and numbers, but above all to threads, fabrics, embroidery and sewing. A must-read for anyone interested in the history of education and women's history. Text by Silvia Martinez, PhD in Education.

Along the way, I proposed to base myself theoretically on the idea of praxis and the concept of experience according to Walter Benjamin.
Mobile technologies in the classroom
The ban on the use of mobile phones in the classroom leads to a transgression of the rule, as this device is effectively inserted into students' daily lives. With technological advances and the improvement of communication and information technology equipment, the vast majority of public schools today have the possibility of having wifi for students to use the internet in the classroom and on other school premises. This growth seems to be ignored by school education, with public administrations remaining on the sidelines of this new reality and reaffirming the ban on the use of mobile technologies in the classroom. At the same time, there is no concern about training teachers for this endeavour. Is it possible to transform transgression into fruition, increasing student motivation and enhancing the learning process?

Ellis lays out a series of simple but effective methods for leaders looking to understand how toxic cultures form, illustrated through a global range of case studies (including CBI, the London Fire Brigade, Uber, SpaceX, Sony Music, and Amnesty International). Education is an intersubjective phenomenon by nature and requires the participants in its processes to be available to the other, because teaching transcends technique: it mobilizes the one who teaches from the recovery of what they have learned, experienced, their relationships, affections and thus provokes transformation in the other. This aspect of the teacher's professional life should be given the utmost importance in educational discussions with a view to the quality of education. Thus, the study sought to understand the meaning and sense of intersubjectivity in teachers' professional lives, understanding that Intersubjectivity is an experience of interpersonal co-participation, characterized by the way in which people really meet and give of themselves reciprocally, according to the conceptions of authors such as Gabriel Marcel and Barten. As this is a theme specific to phenomenology, Friedrich Hegel, Edmund Husserl and Alfred Schutz were also used as supporting theories.

Influence of examination management practices on students' performance
My research on influence of examination management practices on students' academic performance was based in Hargeisa which is the capital city of Somaliland. It majorly base on how the examination are set, distributed, invigilated marked and tabulated at the end. The country being in the horn of Africa might be having its fair share of challenges such as road network and communication but it's really standing out to give the best to the learners in schools. Despite all these challenges the country's' education system is well managed. Being in Somaliland for over ten years as a teacher has made me learn much on how to handle the students. The country being an Islamic set up has a strong culture that has set up the base of strong families. With all these in considerations the country cohesion and peace has been made paramount.
