When I think back to my best mixes--regardless of their commercial success--in each and every case, I can only describe the experience as one in which I was working from deep within, outside of any external forces. I wasn't thinking; I was doing. I wasn't scared of what anyone would think. I wasn't scared of failure. All my decisions were made with confidence, and once a judgment was made, I didn't second-guess myself. Bedeutung und Verwendung des Orff-Schulwerkes und des Orff-Instrumentariums f羹r das gymnasiale Klassenmusizieren. Eine Bestandsaufnahme
Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2010 im Fachbereich Musik - Sonstiges, Note: 1,0, Hochschule f羹r Musik und Theater Hannover, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Das Orff-Schulwerk ist heute weitestgehend in Vergessenheit geraten und findet in allgemeinbildenden Schulen zumeist keine Verwendung mehr. Wo genau sich das Orff-Schulwerk und heutiges Klassenmusizieren ber羹hren wird in dieser Arbeit untersucht. Da stellt sich einerseits die Frage, warum ein zuerst so erfolgreiches Werk an Bedeutung verloren hat und andererseits welches Erbe es hinterlassen hat. Das gemeinsame Musizieren, der Unterricht in der Gruppe, wie es mit dem Orff-Schulwerk 羹blich ist, erinnert sehr an heutiges Klassenmusizieren. Auch findet sich das ber羹hmte Orff-Instrumentarium in fast jeder Schule, noch zudem im Klassensatz. Ob das Schulwerk an sich noch Verwendung finden kann und welche Anpassungen an die heutige Zeit evtl. n繹tig w瓣ren wird ebenso beleuchtet.

Denn um einen legitimen Vergleich machen zu k繹nnen ben繹tigt man eine einheitliche Begriffsdefinition, die dann auf verschiedene Werke angewandt werden kann. Wenn man bei Google den Begriff "Leitmotiv" eingibt, dann erh瓣lt man ungef瓣hr 5.110.000 Treffer. Hier findet man, neben diversen Wikipedia - Artikeln, vor allem Links, die auf Zusammenh瓣nge mit der Filmmusik verweisen. Doch wenn man sich etwas Zeit nimmt entdeckt man auch eine gro?e Anzahl an Websites, die sich mit der Leitmotivtechnik Richard Wagners besch瓣ftigen. Mein Interesse an diesem Thema hat sich im Laufe meines Studiums entwickelt und da ich vorhabe, mich in diesem Bereich, also der Filmmusikkomposition auch sp瓣ter beruflich zu bet瓣tigen, galten meine ersten Gedanken nat羹rlich den Gro?meistern auf diesem Gebiet. Doch es ist schwierig ohne genug Hintergrundwissen richtig in dieses Thema einzusteigen und das viel vor allem beim schauen der Filme und der Opern der zwei Herren um die es in dieser Hausarbeit geht, auf. Ich wollte verstehen, wie die Musik einem Film oder einer Oper durch das Verwenden der Leitmotivik eine zus瓣tzliche Ebene verleihen kann und wollte sozusagen einen Blick hinter die Kulissen werfen, um mir ein Bild davon machen zu k繹nnen, wie die Arbeit an so einer Komposition von statten geht. Der Aufbau dieser Arbeit beinhaltet ebenfalls die systematische Herangehensweise an dieses Thema meinerseits und reflektiert an bestimmten Stellen meinen Erkenntniszuwachs und die damit verbundene Bildung einer Meinung.

Die abschlie?ende Reflexion ist als subjektive Nachbetrachtung des tats瓣chlichen Verlaufs der Einheit zu verstehen.

Fugue in the Sixteenth Century
Examining the roots of the classical fugue and the early history of non-canonic fugal writing, Paul Walker's Fugue in the Sixteenth Century explores the three principal fugal genres of the period: motet, ricercar, and canonza. The volume treats each genre in turn, tracing the fugue's development throughout the century and highlighting important moments and trends along the way. Taking a two-tiered approach, Walker, on one level, examines fugue from the perspective of contemporary musicians, and on another level, takes into account fugue's later history and the elements that came to play a significant role in its formation. Walker is the first scholar to successfully tie together the various strands of the "pre-Bach fugue" thanks to the growing availability of editions of the repertories involved. He also takes account of recent work elucidating the change in compositional approach around 1500 from a basis in cantus firmus and canon to one favoring non-canonical, fugal imitation. Timbre
Timbre is among the most important and the most elusive aspects of music. Visceral and immediate in its sonic properties, yet also considered sublime and ineffable, timbre finds itself caught up in metaphors: tone "color", "wet" acoustics, or in Schoenberg's words, "the illusory stuff of our dreams." This multi-disciplinary approach to timbre assesses the acoustic, corporeal, performative, and aesthetic dimensions of tone color in Western music practice and philosophy. It develops a new theorization of timbre and its crucial role in the epistemology of musical materialism through a vital materialist aesthetics in which conventional binaries and dualisms are superseded by a vibrant continuum. As the aesthetic and epistemological questions foregrounded by timbre are not restricted to isolated periods in music history or individual genres, but have pervaded Western musical aesthetics since early Modernity, the book discusses musical examples taken from both "classical" and "popular" music. These range, in "classical" music, from the Middle Ages through the Baroque, the belcanto opera and electronic music to saturated music; and, in "popular" music, from indie through soul and ballad to dark industrial.
Reminded by the Instruments
David Tudor is remembered today in two guises: as an extraordinary pianist of post-war avant-garde music who worked closely with composers like John Cage and Karlheinz Stockhausen and as a founding figure of live-electronic music. His early realization of indeterminate graphic scores and his later performances using homemade modular instruments both inspired a whole generation of musicians. But his reticence, his unorthodox approaches, and the diversity of his creative output -- which began with the organ and ended with visual art -- have kept Tudor a puzzle. Illustrated with more than 300 images of diagrams, schematics, and photographs of Tudor's instruments, Reminded by the Instruments sets out to solve the puzzle of David Tudor by applying Tudor's own methods for approaching the materials of others to the vast archive of materials that he himself left behind. You Nakai deftly patches together instruments, electronic circuits, sketches, diagrams, recordings, letters, receipts, customs declaration forms, and testimonies like modular pieces of a giant puzzle to reveal the long-hidden nature of Tudor's creative process. The Political Orchestra
This is a groundbreaking study of the prestigious Berlin and Vienna Philharmonics during the Third Reich. Making extensive use of archival material, including some discussed here for the first time, Fritz Tr羹mpi offers new insight into the orchestras' place in the larger political constellation. Tr羹mpi looks first at the decades preceding National Socialist rule, when the competing orchestras, whose rivalry mirrored a larger rivalry between Berlin and Vienna, were called on to represent "superior" Austro-German music and were integrated into the administrative and social structures of their respective cities-becoming vulnerable to political manipulation in the process. Accompanying these propaganda efforts was an increasing politicization of the orchestras, which ranged from the dismissal of Jewish members to the programming of ideologically appropriate repertory-all in the name of racial and cultural purity. What is the number 14 popular single of 1900-1904? "Navajo" by popular tenor Billy Murray. The song was part of a short-lived craze for Native-American themes. How about the number 14 popular single of 1905-1909? "Vesti la Giubba" by Enrico Caruso, who remains the only opera singer in history to hit the pop charts with arias. How about the number 14 popular single of 1915-1919? "Beautiful Ohio" by Henry Burr; it was later adopted as Ohio's Official State Song, with modified wording. The number 14 popular single of 1920-1924 is "The Sheik" by the Club Royal Orchestra, one of numerous 1920s instrumentals played at a fox-trot tempo. The number 14 popular single of 1935-1939 is "Deep Purple" by Larry Clinton & Bea Wain. The song went to number one again, in 1963, for the brother-sister duo of Nino Tempo & April Stevens. Tempo kept forgetting the words, so his sister recited them. The spoken recitations were retained on their recording. In contrast, the 1939 version is a solo vocal by Bea Wain, backed by Clinton's orchestra. For the entire 40-year period, 1900-1939, the number 14 Christmas single is "Ave Maria," the Bach-Gounod version, performed by John McCormack & Fritz Kreisler, from 1915. McCormack's Christmas music is still heard occasionally during the holidays. And, the number 14 Classical composition is "Finlandia" by Jean Sibelius. "Immer spricht man von der cis-Moll Sonate!" Warum die "Mondschein-Sonate" und die 5. Symphonie Beethovens so popul瓣r wurden

Jahrhunderts, Note: 2,3, Universit瓣t Osnabr羹ck, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Wieso haben diese Werke Beethovens, insbesondere die ersten S瓣tze, einen solchen Bekanntheitsgrad erreicht, dass sie heute auch nicht Musik affine Menschen kennen? Dieser Frage widmet sich diese Hausarbeit, wobei besonders auf die beiden ersten S瓣tze, die bekanntesten, ein besonders Augenmerk gelegt wird. Die Klaviersonate Nr. 14 cis-Moll op. 27,2 von Ludwig van Beethoven, besser bekannt als die "Mondschein-Sonate", erfreut sich einer beispiellosen Bekanntheit. Beethoven selbst soll die Cis-Moll Sonate als sein meistdiskutiertes Werk betrachtet haben, was sich bis heute in der 羹berw瓣ltigenden Menge an Literatur zu diesem Meisterwerk widerspiegelt. Sogar Musiklaien kennen zumindest die einpr瓣gsamen Anfangstakte dieser Sonata. Die Sonate hat einen so hohen Bekanntheitsgrad erreicht, dass sie unter professionellen Pianisten ihren Reiz zu verlieren scheint und seltener in deren Programmen auftaucht. Im Gegensatz dazu erfreut sie sich bei Amateur-Pianisten gro?er Beliebtheit und wird h瓣ufig bei Klavierabenden aufgef羹hrt sowie auf zahlreichen Tontr瓣gern ver繹ffentlicht. ?hnlich verh瓣lt es sich mit Beethovens f羹nfter Symphonie, die so allgemein bekannt ist, dass selbst Nicht-Musikkenner die ersten Noten summen k繹nnten. Die Entstehungsgeschichte der "Mondschein-Sonate" ist von romantischen Elementen gepr瓣gt. Beethoven widmete das Werk seiner Sch羹lerin Giulietta Guicciardi, f羹r die er offensichtlich emotionale Empfindungen hegte. Die Namensgebung der Sonate war schon zu Beethovens Lebzeiten Gegenstand vieler Spekulationen. Es wird vermutet, dass er sich von einem klavierspielenden M瓣dchen im Mondschein inspirieren lie?. This paper also describes the music scene of the nineteenth century which enabled genres such as Choro, Samba and Bossa-Nova appears, and also compares old and modern ways to play them. At last, It approaches interviewees with questions aimed at clarifying the ethnic and pertinent contributions that led to the formation of various genres of Brazilian pop music.
