Obesity is growing rapidly and is directly related to MetS and some of its complications include type II diabetes mellitus, hypercholesterolaemia and hypertension. Treatment for MetS is based mainly on lifestyle changes to reduce weight and, if necessary, drug therapy to treat hypertension, diabetes mellitus and dyslipidaemia, as these are considered risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis
Psoriasis with psoriatic arthritis is a chronic and difficult-to-treat inflammatory skin condition. Impact of Adansonia Digitata Leaves Extract
Fourty two adult Wistar rats 7-8 weeks old weighing about 160-200 gram wererandomly assigned into six experimental groups comprising of five Wistar rats ineach group: Group 1 (control) received distilled water (1ml/rat) orally. Group 2 (IND50mg/kg) fasted for 48 h before intraperitoneal injection of indomethacin. Group 3(100mg/kg CMD+50mg/kg IND) received cimetidine (100mg/kg) orally for twoweeks. Group 4 (100mg/kg AD+50mg/kg IND) received aqueous extract of A.digitata l. leaves (100mg/kg) daily for two weeks orally. Group 5 (150mg/kg AD+50mg/kg IND) received aqueous extract of A. digitata l. leaves (150mg/kg) daily fortwo weeks orally. Group 6 (200 mg/kg AD+50mg/kg IND) received aqueous extractof A. digitata l. leaves (200mg/kg) daily for two weeks orally. Indomethacin, cimetidine and all the extract treated groups were fasted for 48 h beforeintraperitoneal injection of indomethacin (50mg/kg) for ulcer induction.
Anti-oxidant and Anti-inflammatory Properties of Natural Compounds
The plant world-plants, algae and fungi-is an extraordinary source of bioactive molecules that can be exploited in the pharmaceutical, food, cosmetics, and skincare industries. This source has been known since the dawn of time. In recent decades, thanks to manufacturing, the by-products of several industries can be used as raw materials for the extraction of value-added molecules. Their use in the food, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries has become a major economic and environmental challenge. Extensive research has been undertaken to identify bioactives in plants, algae, and micro-organisms. Among these molecules, particular attention has been paid to their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities. Numerous studies have been carried out on by-products or cultivated plants; few investigations have focused on species used in traditional and popular medicine around the world. Measurement methods limit the comparison of information, and assessment of their activities remains confined to minor uses. The evaluation of skin care creams, biological effects, and antimicrobial and anti-tumor effects require further research. The following Special Issue includes publications exploring the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of natural compounds, their distribution in organisms, measurement methods, ways to increase extraction, and their effects on the development of new drugs, foods, and skin care products.
From ”Stress Septal Sign” to Global ”Heart Remodeling”
Despite advancements in real-time 3D segmental analysis at the Cleveland Clinic and animal validation studies via third-generation microscopic ultrasound at Johns Hopkins, as well as microscopic remodeling using comparisons of human and animal data at UCSF over two decades, the prevalence and role of LV segmental remodeling and early imaging biomarkers under daily hemodynamic stress remain unclear. Echocardiographers usually prefer single cross-sectional measurements for heart tissue. While basal septal hypertrophy is regular in animals, high stress scores with emotional stress lead to irregularity with tissue heterogeneity (stressed heart morphology, SHM) in humans. Superposed stressors in SHM are adrenergic overdrive, cognitive disorders, and chronic or exercise hypertension, leading to increased mortality. Hemodynamic fluctuations due to blood pressure variability in multiple stressors can be lethal, and enormous SHM may exist in chronic high-stress conditions. Basal septal dominancy or SHM could pre-exist chronically before Takotsubo episodes. SHM should be included in clinical protocols to monitor future acute episodes due to hypertension, the main cause of recurrent Takotsubo episodes. An approach to antihypertensive treatment and stress management with comprehensive diagnostic tests is needed. Recording SHM in clinical practice globally could provide a more comprehensive evaluation. Beyond the clinical aspects of SHM, there is a need to focus on cellular levels of myocardial tissue to investigate whether SHM is the specific location of Selye's nonspecific general adaptive response to stressors.

About 39 species have been phytochemically studied leading to the identification of 368 compounds. Phytochemistry of Withania somnifera
Withania is a genus of the nightshade family of flowering plants distributed in the subtropical regions from the Mediterranean to South East Asia. Only two species, W. somnifera and W. coagulans, are found in India. The most common species is W. somnifera (WS), which occurs naturally in the subtropical regions from the Mediterranean through Africa to the Middle East, the Indian Continent, Sri Lanka, South East Asia, subtropical America and Australia. It is a perennial shrub that grows to 75 cm (.75 m) tall with tomentose branches, oval yellowish green leaves, orange red berries and a papery calyx, and it survives harsher climatic conditions. In Ayurveda it is believed the plants which survive harsh conditions have strong healing and tonification properties. The main bioactive phytoconstituents of WS are withanolides (steroidal lactones), alkaloids, flavonoids, sterols, phenolics and others. Among the various withanolides, withanolide A, withaferin A, withanone and withanolide D are the most abundant, having various activities. WS is a wonder herb with a broad spectrum of pharmacological properties, such as antioxidant, antidepressant, aphrodisiac, antiulcerogenic, antivenom, anti-inflammatory, antiarthritic, anticancer, antiparasitic, antimicrobial, anticancerous, antidiabetic, antitumor, hemopoetic neuroregenerative, immunomodulatory, cardioprotective, radio-sensitizing, rejuvenating, antistress, sedative, hypoglycemic, thyroprotective, adaptogenic, antispasmodic, immunomodulatory, immunostimulant and antiaging properties.The simultaneous quantitative analysis of six major bioactive withanolides in five varieties of WS and in different plant parts (root, stem and leaf) of WS was accomplished. This method is also applicable to control the quality of commercially formulated products which contain WS bioactive compounds. Results indicated the WS variety NMITLI-135 showed the maximum abundance of withanolides at pH 8.5, EC-0.5 dS m-1, ESP-13 in sodic soil. Quality of gentamycin injection in Bamako
Gentamicin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic produced by Micromonospora echinospora. It is a bactericidal inhibitor of protein synthesis. It is generally used as a curative treatment in association with beta-lactam antibiotics. However, to guarantee therapeutic success, it is essential to use quality drugs in today's context of substandard, adulterated and falsified multi-source essential drugs.The overall aim of this study was to assess the quality of injectable gentamicin sold in Bamako's health centers and private pharmacies. 20 samples were analyzed and found to be non-compliant with the required specifications. The causes of non-conformity were either under-dosage of active ingredient, over-dosage of active ingredient and/or out-of-specification average volume or pH.The results clearly raise the question of the systematic registration of drugs before they are placed on the market.
