State-of-the-Art in Orthodontics and Gnathology
The objective of this reprint is to present the main evidence-based data on new developments and knowledge in diagnostic and treatment technologies in the orofacial field used in both children and adults. p53's Versatility in DNA Binding Site Recognition
The p53 protein is a transcription factor that plays a critical role in maintaining genomic stability by regulating the expression of genes involved in cell cycle control, DNA repair, and apoptosis. One of the key functions of p53 is to recognize and bind to specific DNA sequences in the promoter regions of its target genes.While p53 is best known for its ability to bind to the consensus DNA sequence 5'-PuPuPuC(A/T)(T/A)GPyPyPy-3', it is now clear that p53 can bind to a wide range of DNA sequences with varying affinities. This versatility in DNA binding site recognition is due to the unique structure of p53's DNA-binding domain, which contains two large loops that can adopt multiple conformations to interact with different DNA sequences.Studies have shown that p53's ability to recognize a diverse range of DNA sequences is critical for its function as a tumor suppressor. In some cases, p53's ability to bind to non-consensus DNA sequences can allow it to activate genes that are not typically regulated by p53. This allows p53 to respond to a wider range of cellular stresses, including oxidative stress, hypoxia, and DNA damage.In addition to its ability to bind to DNA directly, p53 can also interact with other proteins to regulate gene expression. For example, p53 can interact with chromatin remodeling complexes, histone acetyltransferases, and other transcription factors to modulate gene expression.Overall, the versatility of p53 in DNA binding site recognition is a critical aspect of its function as a tumor suppressor. By recognizing a diverse range of DNA sequences, p53 can respond to a wide range of cellular stresses and regulate the expression of genes involved in maintaining genomic stability.

Plasma technology has arisen as a novel approach in the processing and manufacturing of novel materials in recent years. Due to its benefits, such as its superior sterilizing performance, low cost, and environmental friendliness, atmospheric pressure plasma has drawn the attention of researchers. As a result, atmospheric pressure plasma manufacturing in different configurations (plan parallel and jet plasma) is becoming more popular. The necessity to characterize these types of plasmas has greatly expanded as a result of its wide range of applications. Bioanalytical Estimation of Imiquimod in Rabbit Plasma by Rp-HPLC
The present study focuses on the identification and estimation of drugs in the biological matrix using a sophisticated analytical technique also studying their pharmacokinetic parameters like half-lives and rates of elimination and their metabolites in blood. Imiquimod topical treats external warts around the genital and rectal areas called condyloma acuminatum. A direct relationship exists between the drug concentration at the bio-phase (site of action) and the concentration of the drug in plasma. A typical plasma drug concentration-time curve obtained after a single oral dose of a drug and showing various pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic parameters.

Advances in Heart Electrotherapy
The introduction of permanent cardiac pacing in the late 1950s began the era of cardiac electrotherapy. In the 1980s, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) were introduced. These advances created new challenges for cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs). Right ventricular pacing was the primary breakthrough; however, over the years, it has become apparent that it can induce cardiac contraction dyssynchrony. Biventricular pacing allowed for the alleviation of dyssynchrony and improved the survival of patients with heart failure and bundle branch block. In recent decades, His bundle pacing has become a new strategy for physiological ventricular activation. However, the use of CIEDs carries several risks, e.g., complications related to transvenous leads. This led to the development of percutaneous lead extraction techniques as well as the introduction of a subcutaneous ICD (S-ICD) and leadless pacing. Pathogenesis and Targeted Therapy of Epilepsy
Epilepsy is one of the most prevalent neurological disorders and is characterized by recurrent seizures resulting from abnormal neuronal excitability in the central nervous system. Despite the availability of thirty-six antiseizure medications, about one-third of patients with epilepsy do not respond to the pharmacological treatment and develop a so-called "pharmaco-resistant epilepsy" or "refractory epilepsy." Thus, there is an urgent need to develop novel, effective therapies based on novel mechanisms underlying neuronal excitability that leads to seizures. Hepatic Encephalopathy
Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is a complex neurological syndrome, characteristic of patients with liver disease, that causes a wide and complex spectrum of nonspecific neurological and psychiatric manifestations, ranging from a subclinical entity such as minimal or covert hepatic encephalopathy to a deep form in which a complete alteration of consciousness can be observed: overt hepatic encephalopathy. Both minimal and overt hepatic encephalopathy have a high impact on patients, caregivers, and national health services, driving substantial consumption of economic resources. The crystalline state is the most commonly used as an essential solid in active pharmaceutical ingredients (API). The characterization of pharmaceutical crystals encompasses many scientific disciplines. Superporous Hydrogel Tablets of Atenolol for Gastro-retention
Gastro-retentive drug delivery system can retain the drug in the gastric region for several hours which enhances drug release and improves bioavailability. Atenolol, an antihypertensive drug has short half-life, limited bioavailability, highly unstable at basic pH and is extensively absorbed from the stomach. These features triggered the need of developing gastroretentive system. In the present study a superporous hydrogel was developed as a gastroretentive drug delivery system. Chitosan / poly (vinyl alcohol) interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) type superporous hydrogels were prepared using a gas foaming method employing glyoxal as the cross-linking agent. SPH tablets of atenolol were prepared by direct compression incorporating microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, talc and sodium bicarbonate, etc. and evaluated. The superporous hydrogels were highly sensitive to pH of swelling media and showed fast swelling and good porosity. SPH tablets of atenolol showed good precompressional and post-compressional properties. Formulation IV exhibited good swelling ratio and sustained release of drug over the period of 12 h through gastro-retention.

Osteoporosis and Related Bone Metabolic Disease
Many heterogeneous causes (e.g., metabolic, inflammatory, autoimmune, vascular, and renal diseases, and even drugs), collectively grouped as secondary causes of osteoporosis, may lead to bone loss or damage to architecture through a number of mechanisms. Although these secondary causes of osteoporosis are the most frequently observed causes of unexpected bone loss, they can only be diagnosed via a high degree of suspicion and clinical experience and by performing the appropriate investigations. In inflammatory disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis or chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, as well as vascular diseases, T-cell activation, and consequently pro-inflammatory cascades, trigger the increased expression of T-cell-derived RANKL. In addition, a new biomarker signature of bone-related miRNAs is promising in certain clinical features. Glucocorticoids, often used to control disease activity, decrease the number and function of osteoblasts and inhibit OPG expression. The ubiquitous occurrence of disease-related secondary changes in bone metabolism implies that numerous medical disciplines need to interact. Screening for secondary causes of osteoporosis and the search for new modes of action should present a substantial aspect of osteoporosis management. In the book, the current management of osteoporosis and related metabolic bone diseases is discussed.
Solid Organ Transplantation in the Era of COVID-19
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) causes the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), posing a new challenge to the medical care of solid organ transplant (SOT) recipients. Due to the relatively small number of studies in SOT recipients suffering from COVID-19, the natural course of the SARS-CoV-2 infection, optimal treatment strategies including modification of immunosuppressive therapy and the prognosis in COVID-19 in these patients is incompletely understood.The current Special Issue aimed to fill some of the knowledge gaps and highlight some recent advances in the management of SOT patients during the pandemic. Due to poor drug solubility and absorption, many drug candidates fall short of expectations. Self-emulsifying drug delivery methods increase the solubility and bioavailability of poorly soluble medications. When SEDDS are added to an aqueous phase and gently mixed, fine oil-in-water emulsions form. SEDDS come in soft or hard gelatin capsules for oral administration and form fine, stable oil-in-water emulsions. SEDDS are primarily manufactured as liquid formulations, which have poor stability and mobility, low drug loading, a limited number of dosage form options, irreversible drug/excipient precipitation, and a high proportion (30-60%) of surfactants that might irritate the gastrointestinal system. Solid-SEDDS has been studied to avoid the problems of liquid SEDDS. The adsorption of liquid self-micro-emulsified formulations on solid carriers is one of the best ways to create free-flowing powders for compression into tablet dosage form (SMET).

Anatomy of the Human Pelvis
The pelvis is the bony part of the body formed by the junction of three bones, two similar bones called the sacrum and one bone called the sacrum. A cavity called the acetabular cavity is formed from the placement of the three sacrum and sacrum bones next to each other. Anatomy of the pelvis or pelvis is the middle part of the human body, located between the abdomen (spine) and the thighs. The human pelvis consists of the bony part, the pelvic cavity, the pelvic floor and the perineum. In addition, the digestive system, reproductive organs, muscles and many veins are located inside the pelvis. Apart from bearing the weight of the body, the pelvis can transfer the weight of the upper part of the body to the lower limb and act as a connection point to connect the muscles of the lower limb and the trunk. When sitting, all the weight of the body is directly transferred to the surface through the pelvis. In addition, the pelvis protects the pelvic and abdominal viscera. The hip joint in the pelvis is the most important part in movement.
Winning Grants
As an academic or a small business owner, you will need to write grants at some point in your career. Writing them though is not enough, what you also need to know is how to win grants. Much has been written about writing grants, the mysterious special ability called 'grantsmanship', so it occurred to me that there is a need to come at this differently and spill the beans. The difficulty in getting a grant, in particular an NIH grant like an R01 in the USA is often described, it is competitive and gets tougher every year. Your proposal therefore must stand out, it must connect with the reviewers. This is true for all types of grants, give the reviewer what they want always. But also, you need to connect to the program officer, the committee that ultimately makes funding decisions and you must take care of a myriad of other details outside of the main event which is describing the "science". This means you cannot rely on just out-writing the competition, it is more than that as you have to out-think, out-strategize and out-schmooze them. If you have been continually funded for decades that is terrific, but if you want to keep being funded there is no guarantee what got you there will keep you there. What was a hot technology 4-5 years ago is not the new thing anymore, you will need to do something different, but what? You therefore need to not only think about writing great grants, you need to put it into practice and win them. Having written and won grants from the NIH and DOD over the past 17 years (and longer by the time you read this) I possess a valuable perspective.Each grant and study section will be different. Whether a big or small grant it does not seem to make a difference the reviewers will critique your efforts, they may not like it, they may reject your ideas or they may love it. You have some small degree of control until the proposal leaves your hands or more correctly you click 'submit'. You will need to differentiate your grant from the hundreds of others in many ways, but you cannot change who you are, your history so how you describe yourself and team will also have an impact. You could spend hundreds of hours on your proposal or just a day and the outcome might still be the same.
