Comparative anatomy of head region bones of barking and sambar deer
The barking deer, also recognized as Indian Muntjac (Muntiacus muntjak) is a cervid species, indigenous to South and South-east Asia has been classified on the IUCN red-list as the Least concern. The sambar deer, also called Sunda sambar (Rusa unicolor) is a large cervid species that is indigenous to the Indian subcontinent, Southern China, and Southeast Asia has been categorized by the IUCN red-list as 'vulnerable' due to a decrease in their population year by year. This book describes the comparative morphology (gross, radiography, and computed tomography) of the skull of barking and sambar deer in detail. It also includes various important landmarks on the skull bones for tracking of nerves on the head region for regional anesthesia in both species.
Reproduction and Development in Annelida
This book is a concise informative elucidation of all aspects of reproduction and development in annelids covering from arenicola to tubifex. Annelids flourish between 4,900 m depth to 2,000 m altitude; some of them occur in unusual habitats like hydrothermal vents and subterranean aquatic system (stigobionts). A few have no gut and acquire adequate nutrients through osmotrophism and/or engaging symbiotic microbes. In the absence of exoskeleton to escape predation, the 17,000 speciose annelids have explored bewildering modes of reproduction; not surprisingly, 42-47% of them are brooders. With 13,000 species, polychaetes are gonochores but some 207 species of them are hermaphrodites. Clitellates are all hermaphrodites; of them, 76 species are parthenogens, of which 56 are earthworms.Regenerative potency of annelids ranges from an organ to an entire worm from a single 'seminal' segment. The head, tail and both together can be regenerated 21, 42 and 20 times, respectively. However, the potency is limited to 1% of polychaetes and Heterogamatic sex determination is reported to occur only in six polychaete species, although karyotype is known for 83 annelid species. In temperate polychaetes, a dozen neuroendocrines, arising mostly from the 'brain' regulates reproductive cycle. A complete chapter devoted to vermiculture, (i) recognizes the fast-growing candidate species, (ii) distinguishes 'layers' from 'brooders', (iii) indicates that the harvest of oligochaetes may reduce the input of nitrogenous fertilizer in the ricefield, and (iv) explores the scope for increasing wealth from waste.

The Effect of Allogenic Cell Cultures on Type I Diabetic Rats
Scientific Study from the year 2020 in the subject Veterinary medicine, grade: 10, language: English, abstract: This study investigates the changes in the pancreas of rats with the introduction of alloxan, confirming histologically the presence of pathological processes characteristic of type I diabetes. Additionally, a cytogenetic analysis of rat cells in culture obtained from red bone marrow, adipose tissue and pancreas during subcultivation in the in vitro system was performed and their phenotypic characterization was given. Furthermore the histological changes in the pancreas of rats were analysed with the introduction of cell cultures obtained from different sources against experimental diabetes and studied the changes in the blood glucose of experimental animals with the transplantation of cellular material. Despite the shortcomings of the modern methods of treating animals with type I diabetes using insulin therapy, as well as the fact that pancreatic β-cell death is one of the important elements in the diabetes pathogenesis, new approaches to the treatment of this disease using cell technologies are being studied. Recent studies of β-cells in the in vitro system have shown that they have a fairly high regenerative capacity, but in the in vivo system with diabetes, these cells almost do not recover. The development of methods that can activate β-cell regeneration is an important area of the scientific research. To date, mainly red bone marrow is used as the source of stem cells for research, because this is the only tissue of the adult body that normally contains immature, undifferentiated and low-differentiated cells. However, adipose tissue is being increasingly used as an alternative source for stem cells, from which they can be isolated in significantly larger quantities using less invasive methods compared to using red bone marrow. Swine can be infected with different mycoplasmas. Some of them are important pathogens, causing significant health and welfare issues in pigs and major losses to the swine industry worldwide. Other mycoplasmas are not pathogenic for swine and can be considered commensals. Protein Concentration in Chicken
The purpose of this study was to provide sufficient essential amino acids and to reduce dietary protein levels to an undesirable effect on carcass quality and to investigate the effect of different levels of protein on carcass composition to provide a diet with lower protein levels and more economical feed to poultry. 150 one-day-old broilers were divided into three groups for high protein, medium protein and low protein. During the period, weight gain of chickens and total feed intake of each group were evaluated. Water retention, brittle measurement, post-freezing dripping loss, dry matter or moisture content, mineral or ash measurement, lipid measurement and carcass protein measurement were studied and the data were analyzed statistically. Results show that there was a significant difference in the weight gain of the chicks on a weekly basis in the first, second, third, fifth and sixth weeks, and the high protein group had better weight gain. In this research, we tried to study the changes in carcass composition and growth efficiency by providing essential amino acids such as methionine and lysine and decreasing the protein level.

Bronchoscopy Trip in Dogs
Bronchoscopy has been an integral part of respiratory disorders practice in veterinary medicine since1970s. This work was done in Endoscopy unit, Dept. of Internal Medicine and Infectious diseases, faculty of veterinary medicine, Cairo University for the 1st time in Egypt and conducted on 97 dogs from different species, breeds, sex and localities during the period from 2003 to 2010, 73 healthy and 24 with respiratory illness. By using the standard system configuration which allows Observation (Diagnosis), BAL, and Photography from the eyepiece portion the work objectives achieved in terms of orientation of Bronchoscopy instrumentation and techniques, morphological studies of larynx, trachea and bronchial tree in healthy and diseased dogs, cytological studies of BAL of healthy and diseased dogs, the effect of age on bronchoscopic features of healthy dogs and grading of tracheal collapse in diseased dogs. Fiberoptic tracheobronchoscopy is a safe and rewarding technique for the diagnosis and management of a wide spectrum of respiratory tract diseases. Special techniques enhance the diagnostic spectrum of bronchoscopy include bronchoalveolar lavage.
Protective effect of camel urine & milk against alcoholic liver damage
This research was implemented as 2 experiments to investigate the protective effect of camel urine alone or mixed with camel milk against alcohol induced liver damage in Wistar albino rats, because in Sudan this combination is used extensively in traditional medicine claiming that it can cures a lot of diseases including liver disease and jaundice; 25 Wister Albino rats of both sexes were brought for each experiment and divided into 5 groups. Group 1(control), group 2(ethanol 10%), group 3(Silymarin tablets plus ethanol 10%), Group 4 (mixture of camel milk and urine in exp2. or just urine in exp.1) and group 5 rats were administered with the same mixture of group 4 in exp.2 or a just urine in exp.1 plus ethanol 10%. All treatments were given by an oral intubation, experiments lasts for 28 days, rats were euthanized, blood samples and liver sections obtained. Hepatoprotective effects of camel's milk and urine mixture were recorded and this could be attributed to antioxidant activity or to its chelating effects on toxicants. Drinking raw camel milk and urine mixture was used and found to be safe without any ill effects.

Pathogenesis of delta-aminolevulinic acid-accumulating porphyrias
Porphyrias are diseases caused by inherited or adquired inhibition of enzymes of the heme biosynthetic pathway, what is in the core proteins like haemoglobin, myoglobin and cytochromes. There are eight catalytically steps in this metabolic way. Excepting the first, defects in other enzymes may cause accumulation of porphyrin metabolites in the body tissues and fluids, as delta(5)-aminolevulinic acid (ALA). Two inherited diseases cause ALA-overload (acute intermittent porphyria and inherited tyrosinemia) and one adquired syndrome (lead poisoning). Pathogenesis of ALA-accumulating porphyrias is not fully understood, mainly neurological symptoms (convulsions). In addition, treatment of seizures is not easy, because majority of anticonvulsive exacerbate porphyria crisis. In last years it was identified participation of reactive species in the genesis of neurological alterations caused by ALA, what may suffer a self-cycle of oxidation and promote a cascade of free radicals generation. Lipids in biological bilayers are especially susceptible, but also proteins and little molecules (-SH groups).
