What's Wrong with the Corporation?
The modern mind is beset with a number of cognitive errors that bear upon the purpose of this book. It is also beset by a philosophy which essentially prohibits a free flow of ideas and opinions. This is the philosophy of pragmatism. Yet, few people know they are living under the oppressive nature of pragmatism. Instead, they think they are free to do whatever they want to advance new ideas and challenge the status quo. More importantly, they don't know that their deepest held beliefs are destroying their knowledge of reality and fomenting social failure. This booklet is part of a wider study about the making of the modern mind. I propose that pragmatism, and its parents in Europe, have negatively impacted man's mind and have restricted human development. In order to understand this, we must understand pragmatism.

Becoming Super Woman
Do you feel daily pressure to keep pushing yourself even when you're stressed and exhausted? It's time to leave Superwoman in the movies, where she belongs, and say hello to being a Super Woman--the best, most productive and balanced version of the hero you already are. For years--maybe your entire life--you've been told that success means having it all and doing it all. But working more and harder is holding you back, not moving you forward. In Becoming Super Woman, New York Times bestselling author Nicole Lapin redefines what it means to be a woman who "has it all"--and shows you how to find lasting success by your own definition, on your own terms. Nicole candidly shares her own story of career burnout and an emergency hospitalization that prompted her to take her mental health seriously for the first time ever. Along the way, she discovered that not only was this priority shift not a defeat, it was the key to unlocking even greater achievements. In her third and most personal book yet, Nicole lays out an actionable, 12-step plan to guide you in taking control and becoming the hero of your own story, with the skills it takes to be a real Super Woman--skills we should (but often don't) learn growing up, from productivity hacks to boundary setting. She makes the case that the real secret to success doesn't hinge on the hustle or degrees you have but in "putting on your own oxygen mask before helping others." In fact, self-care is the biggest asset or liability in our careers--when it's on-point it can help us soar, and when it's neglected it can bring us down faster than anything else. Entertaining, honest, and life-changing, Becoming Super Woman shows you how to banish burnout, ward off a breakdown, and achieve true balance ... finally.

The Great First Impression Book Proposal
This booklet from Carolyn Howard-Johnson, a UCLA Extension Writers' Program instructor for nearly a decade, helps authors love the project they most love to hate--writing a book proposal. She has taken the guessing out of the book proposal process. Now there is no need to take expensive, time-consuming classes or spend hours reading a tome to find the voice and format that will propel an author's idea from a dream to reality. This slim book and thirty minutes will do it.Randy Eller, speaker and CEO of Eller Enterprises, says, "There is only one thing you need to learn from Carolyn Howard-Johnson to succeed...everything she says!" "Marketing is never easy... Well, it might be if you follow the easy steps CarolynHoward-Johnson offers up in The Great First Impression Book Proposal: EverythingYou Need to Know About Selling Your Book in Thirty Minutes or Less, 2nd Ed.. Howard-Johnson's bulleted lists are superior. They are easy to understand, easy to implement, and even easier to read. She means it when she says thirty minutes or less. I will recommend this book to all of our authors and potential authors." Georgia Jones, Editor in Chief, LadybugPress and NewVoices, Inc.This booklet is the result of multi award-winning author Carolyn Howard-Johnson's extensive work with clients who hate writing book proposals and hate learning how to write them even more. She found herself coaching them through the process rather than doing it for them, for who could possibly recreate the passion an author feels for his or her own book better than the author? In doing so, she found she had written a booklet--not a tome--that took her clients only about thirty minutes to absorb. Voila! The Great First Impression Book Proposa, 2nd Edition was born. The HowToDoItFrugally Series from Modern History Press www.ModernHIstoryPress.com

You bring work with you on vacation, sneak glances at your smart phone during family dinners, and take business calls and texts at your kid's sports games. Additional Ways to Earn More They Don't Teach
I am not a financial adviser. I'm a single father of two with passive income solution. As any parent knows, having kids will teach you lessons in finances that no economics course ever could (although I do have a business degree). When my wife and I divorced in 2018, it was like a bomb went off. I had no more help with childcare, no more partner to stay up at night with a sick baby. I knew I had to get my finances in better shape in order to provide for myself and my family. I knew I wanted to provide for my children and their future, needing such things as college fund, a home where they had more space, and their own rooms. I interacted with the individuals whose finances trumped mine. I began to see patterns on how to make money and what makes someone successful and applied them to my own life. The idea of ways to make money, leveraging my income, and making my money work for me instead me working for it triggered, and it became my goal to build passive income. Especially now, I realize how expensive it is to raise children, be single, and pay for day care. Even though as of writing this book we share the kids fifty-fifty, I still have to take them to day care so I can work. Not all the passive income ideas and tips mentioned in this book will work for you. Personally, I've implemented a few of the tips written. Each tip is different for each individual, and you have to do what you feel is best for you. What works for me may not necessarily work for you, and vice versa. I hope something in this book will ignite that fire in you to run with it in your life. Whether it's to build wealth, add to your retirement, or just put a few more bucks in your pocket, I am sure there's something in here for you. And, oh yes, I would like to thank our Lord and Savior because without Him, none of this would be possible.
My Plan For Living To 156
You have a number--we all do. Once your brain locks onto your imagined lifespan, your body accepts it as fact. You create your number based upon family history, genetics, or averages. This number shapes the way you view the world: relationships, finances, retirement--everything. But what if you could extend your number? The result would be astounding. Everything could change. The idea in this book has revolutionized the lives of tens of thousands of people. You might even say it has added years to their lives--literally. Although it could sound a bold claim, in their own words, here are just 10 quick benefits readers often experience when they apply this content. They...1. Stop feeling nostalgic about the past 2. Start feeling excited about the future 3. Increase their awareness about being healthy and fit 4. Experience milestones they've only dreamed of 5. Improve the quality of their relationships 6. Expand their earning potential 7. Reshape their thinking and mindset 8. Improve their energy levels 9. Feel less stress and pressure 10. Gain a new appreciation and optimism for lifeWhat you believe shapes how you live--or, in this case, how long you live. Isn't it time you extended your life? Give yourself that gift, starting today!
Strategic Preparation
We're convinced that most people don't prepare to the level they could, so they don't often end up with the results they'd like to have. We believe preparation is a giant overlooked factor in achieving success and getting better and faster results. How well do you prepare? Do you think there is another level for you? If so, please read on. Preparation pays! It involves thinking, which is one of the powerful secrets we share with our clients so they get much more favorable results. One particularly critical aspect of thinking we teach to our clients is preparing for the future with a balance of "doing it now" (including Production Before Perfection-see No. 25) and the discipline of delayed gratification (see No. 24). Delayed gratification is such an effective concept because it encompasses so many angles-such as long-term thinking, putting in effort up front, doing Favors in Advance (see No. 41), and nourishing relationships-that yield amazing results down the line. It's certainly a win to live in the present, and I do. Yet this book is about winning, winning more, and winning bigger in the future. That's why you'll want to not just read it; you'll want to study it and put it in the hands of every team member and every young person in your life.

The Ethical Imperative
Ethics are becoming the defining business issue of our time, affecting corporate profits and credibility, as well as personal security and the sustainability of a global economy. From price-fixing to bribery to toxic-waste dumping, companies around the world are engaging in unethical practices and chalking them up to the cost of doing business. but in an increasingly transparent global economy, where companies are being scrutinized by the media, private watch groups, government, competitors and their own employees, it is just such unethical practices that deplete profits, jeopardize reputations and, in cases like Barings Bank, risk the entire business. By the most conservative estimate, yearly losses due to unethical behavior equal more than the profits of the top forty corporations in North America. Such economic waste and moral loss require more than a PR Band-Aid.But how does a company and its managers and employees begin to encode an ethical construct into its bottom-line strategies and daily practices? In the Ethical Imperative, John Dalla Costa outlines the process for incorporating, teaching and reinforcing ethical principles to the direct benefit of customers, shareholders, employees and profits. Drawing from the fields of management, theology and the behavioral sciences, Dalla Costa makes clear why corporate ethics must be a fundamental component of any business. He provides a working practical model that business people can use to establish their own "Ethical Orientation" and outlines a new, forward-thinking "global ethic for the global economy" based on respect, honesty, fairness, justice and environmental responsibility. Case examples from a wide variety of industries are used to illustrate the workings of this ethical framework and help managers customize the model to serve the needs and priorities of their own business. As managers and consumers, many people are concerned about such issues as sweatshops, global warming and discrimination in the workplace, and are struggling to integrate their beliefs into their jobs, companies and purchases. The Ethical Imperative links these personal values to business performance. It is a compelling and useful "must-read" for executives and managers, employees and policy-makers, environmentalists, consumers and anyone who possesses an interest and concern over current ethical issues.

If You’re So Smart, Why Aren’t You Happy?
The first book by the creator of COURSERA(R)'s most popular online course in 2015, "A Life of Happiness and Fulfillment" Could the same traits that drive your career success also be keeping you from being happier? Fifteen years after getting his MBA, Raj Raghunathan spent some time with his old classmates. He noticed that though they'd all done well, there didn't appear to be much correlation between their academic success and career success. What Raj found even more curious was the even smaller correlation between career success and what he calls life success. The greater the career success, the more unhappy, out of shape, harried and distracted his friends were. If intelligence helps with decision-making, smart people should naturally make better life choices. So why are so many of the smartest, brightest, most successful people profoundly unhappy? Raj set out to find an answer to this problem, and extensively researched happiness not just of students and business people, but also stay-at-home-parents, lawyers, and artists, among others. If You're So Smart, Why Aren't You Happy? takes readers on a fun and meaningful tour of the best research available on how some of the very determinants of success may also come to deflate happiness. Raghunathan explores the seven most common inclinations that successful people need to overcome, and the seven habits they should adopt instead. Among his surprising findings... -The correlation between wealth and happiness is much smaller than you'd expect it to be-Generosity is not only a key to happiness, but a determining factor of long term success-Appreciating uncertainty, rather than seeking full control of outcomes, is necessary for happiness If You're So Smart, Why Aren't You Happy? will give you a powerful new perspective on your work, personal goals and relationships, whether you're already successful or just starting out.
The Second Mountain: The Quest for a Moral Life (Random House Large Print)
#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER - Everybody tells you to live for a cause larger than yourself, but how exactly do you do it? The author of The Road to Character explores what it takes to lead a meaningful life in a self-centered world. "Deeply moving, frequently eloquent and extraordinarily incisive."--The Washington Post Every so often, you meet people who radiate joy--who seem to know why they were put on this earth, who glow with a kind of inner light. Life, for these people, has often followed what we might think of as a two-mountain shape. They get out of school, they start a career, and they begin climbing the mountain they thought they were meant to climb. Their goals on this first mountain are the ones our culture endorses: to be a success, to make your mark, to experience personal happiness. But when they get to the top of that mountain, something happens. They look around and find the view . . . unsatisfying. They realize: This wasn't my mountain after all. There's another, bigger mountain out there that is actually my mountain. And so they embark on a new journey. On the second mountain, life moves from self-centered to other-centered. They want the things that are truly worth wanting, not the things other people tell them to want. They embrace a life of interdependence, not independence. They surrender to a life of commitment. In The Second Mountain, David Brooks explores the four commitments that define a life of meaning and purpose: to a spouse and family, to a vocation, to a philosophy or faith, and to a community. Our personal fulfillment depends on how well we choose and execute these commitments. Brooks looks at a range of people who have lived joyous, committed lives, and who have embraced the necessity and beauty of dependence. He gathers their wisdom on how to choose a partner, how to pick a vocation, how to live out a philosophy, and how we can begin to integrate our commitments into one overriding purpose. In short, this book is meant to help us all lead more meaningful lives. But it's also a provocative social commentary. We live in a society, Brooks argues, that celebrates freedom, that tells us to be true to ourselves, at the expense of surrendering to a cause, rooting ourselves in a neighborhood, binding ourselves to others by social solidarity and love. We have taken individualism to the extreme--and in the process we have torn the social fabric in a thousand different ways. The path to repair is through making deeper commitments. In The Second Mountain, Brooks shows what can happen when we put commitment-making at the center of our lives.
