In accordance with this; Kautilya's Arthashastra maintains that the state or government of a country has a vital role to play in maintaining the material status of both the nation and its people. Therefore; a significant part of the Arthashastra has to do with the science of economics. When it deals with the science of politics; the Arthashastra describes in detail the art of government in its widest sense-the maintenance of law and order as also of an efficient administrative machinery.

Disrupted Economic Relationships
Empirical studies and theoretical analyses examine the causes and consequences of disruptions in cross-border economic relationships, including political conflict, economic sanctions, and institutional collapse. Cross-border economic relationships gradually strengthened in the decades after World War II; for most of the postwar period, international trade and investment have grown faster than output, a process often termed "globalization." In recent years, however, economic relationships have grown more fragile, subject to disruption by such factors as political conflict, economic sanctions, and the dissolution of institutional arrangements. This timely CESifo volume offers empirical studies and theoretical analyses that examine the causes and consequences of these disrupted economic relationships. Contributors propose a new theoretical framework for understanding the economic impact of intergroup conflict and develop a predictive model to analyze the contagion of regional wars. The Impact of Inflation and Monetary Policy Shocks on Stock Market Performance in Zimbabwe

The study analyzes the relationship between different variables' regression using data obtained from the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE) returns, inflation rates obtained from the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZIMSTAT), and interest rates obtained from the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe. In this regression, ZSE returns are the dependent variable while inflation and interest rates are the independent variables. The research findings suggest that inflation has a negative impact, while monetary policy shocks have a positive impact on stock market performance in Zimbabwe. The study finds that inflation has a significant and persistent negative effect on stock market returns, with a one standard deviation shock in inflation leading to a significant decline in stock market returns. Moreover, the study identifies that monetary policy shocks, such as changes in interest rates, have a significant impact on stock market returns, but the effect is less pronounced compared to inflation in Zimbabwe. Furthermore, the study examines the transmission channels through which monetary policy shocks affect the stock market in Zimbabwe. The results suggest that changes in interest rates affect the stock market mainly through their impact on inflation expectations and exchange rates. This highlights the importance of considering both monetary and macroeconomic factors when analyzing the impact of monetary policy on the stock market in Zimbabwe. Climbing the Value Chain Ladder
In Zambia, the agro-processing sector dominates manufacturing activities, accounting for approximately 63% of total manufacturing output (UNDP, 2016: 32). Therefore, this study focuses on food processing because it forms a significant component of the agro-processing industry. The growing interest in the food sub-sector is driven by the expanding demand for processed food arising from growing incomes and urbanization. Increased regional economic integration has further encouraged local and foreign firms to invest in food-processing activities to meet the increased demand for processed food and other manufactured products. Linked to this trend is the proliferation of South African-based supermarket supply chains, such as Pick n Pay, Shoprite and Game Stores, which provide key routes to markets for both local and foreign suppliers (Dakora, 2012; das Nair & Chisoro-Dube, 2016;; Paremoer, 2018). These developments offer rapid growth prospects, provided challenges related to upgrading, access to quality inputs, design, packaging, product certification and standards, and distribution are dealt with. Despite the presence of supermarkets in Zambia, domestic processing firms possess limited capabilities to engage and effectively participate in the agro-food value-chains (Ziba & Phiri, 2017).
Capital Formation in Mainland China, 1952-1965
In the 1950s and 1960s, the Chinese government exerted unprecedented efforts and marshaled enormous economic resources for the purpose of capital formation. It was difficult for the rest of the world to determine precisely how successful these efforts were because of the incompleteness of official investment statistics. In Capital Formation in Mainland China, Kang Chao provides a comprehensive measurement of fixed capital investment in China. His basic approach is that of the commodity flow method, which takes into account each investment component and each capital goods item installed in China since 1949. Strikes and Stoppages
Even though high levels of unemployment are a core reason for poverty in South Africa, among the poor are a large number of working individuals (Leibbrandt, Finn & Woolard, 2012; Van der Berg, 2011). The working-poor earn not only low incomes but also possess little power in the employment relationship. Unlike highly sought-after professionals, low-income employees are easily replaced owing to their low formal skills and education levels, while at the same time being particularly reliant on their jobs for survival (Ehrenreich & Siebrase, 2014; Visser & Mel矇ndez, 2015). To counter the resulting power differential amongst low-income workers and employers, the South African labour legislation, under specific conditions, allows trade unions to mobilise their members to engage in protest actions (Labour relations Act, 1995). While common, protest actions frequently lead to losses on both sides: productivity losses for organisations and loss of income for protesting employees. For example, in 2014 the South African mining industry alone lost just over 7 billion Rand because of protest actions that lasted five-month, and during that time protesting employees did not earn an income (William, 2017). De Wet (2012) also found that employees generally do not believe that engaging in protest action is financially rewarding.
Beyond Formalization

Collaborative partnerships with NGOs, social enterprises, and the private sector can unlock resources and expertise to support community-led initiatives. This shift beyond formalization fosters a more equitable distribution of resources. It empowers communities to become active participants in shaping their urban environments, ultimately leading to more inclusive and sustainable cities for all.

Although high-income countries attract most policy attention, low- and middle-income countries host three of every four refugees worldwide.
