Human Capital Investment and the Regional Economic Gap in China
According to the neoclassical growth theory and the endogenous growth theory, changes in the stock of capital and labor affect economic growth rates in the short run, and differences in human capital stocks are likely to affect total factor productivity directly and long-term economic growth rates indirectly. Therefore, human capital is a factor in the secular trends of regional economic gaps. In this study, the author examines the relationship between regional economic disparities and the country's human capital stocks and structure in China between 1990 and 2015, a period of economic transformation in the country. Available empirical evidence supports the argument that boosting investment toward and optimizing the spatial distribution of human capital can help mitigate regional economic disparity and facilitate balanced and coordinated economic development across the country.

Globalization and Inequality in Advanced Economies
This volume surveys and combines the different dimensions of globalization so as to propose a general diagnosis of the way they interact to explain growing inequality in advanced economies. The title - The Economy in its House - echoes Xenophon's book, Oeconomicus, which focuses on the relationship of a house with its environment rather than on trade. It also makes reference to a question from Socrates: "What is a house?". It is by striving to explore the relationships and questions, reflectig the conditions of our time, that we have concluded that the economy is in its house - and that changes everything. Indeed this leads us to establish a fiundation - new but grafted onto ancient roots - for economics. By integrating into our theory the unpredictable environment, we provide economists with a framework to address the multiple issues that arise not only in our common home, the Earth, but also to all other houses. Our model is based on the hypothesis of the random nature of the economy, which brings us closer to modern physics and its methods. On these pillars, our model abstracts economic agents and focuses attention on the interconnected constituents of the house, both their mutual statistical relationships, and those they have with the environment. The covariance matrix that retraces such relationships indicates how the environment disrupts, on average, each constituent during a period. This gives the possibility to explore the destinies of the houses in the short, middle or long run, through crises and changing perspectives of ruin. It makes it possible to identify three essential variables: the growth factor, the growth energy and finally the prices' root, which is also the weight of the unit of account and an anti-ruin coefficient. One of the characteristics of modern houses is that, among their constituents, positive covariances outweigh negative covariances. Hence their growth: we explore its links with the reduction of inequalities, and its pathologies: pollution and depletion of resources. Foreign Capital and Economic Growth in India
This book is designed to fulfill a long felt need for a wide ranging empirical research on foreign capital-growth nexus. It presents an analysis of disaggregated flows of foreign capital and their long run relationship with growth process in an emerging nation like India during the past four decades. The study detects factors like financial deepening, trade openness and market size, as potential determinants of FDI. The book investigates long run relationship between FDI and Growth, with causality running from FDI to Growth, whereby Aid-Growth long run relationship is detected with causal direction from Aid to Growth. Further, Net foreign capital-growth nexus is also established in the long run, however, with no causal direction. The book examines the relative significance of Aid and FDI in terms of their impact on growth. The results reveal that Aid appears to be more productive than FDI, but when export is included in the model FDI appears to be more productive than Aid. Empirical results have been calculated in the book, with the help of Johansen and Juselius (1990) co-integration technique, vector error correction, impulse response function and variance decomposition. The results in the book show, superiority of FDI over Aid is not established in India, hence two variables remain complementary to each other.
