Pacifist Concepts in the Naqshbandi Order
This monograph analyzes the Sufi and socio-philosophical perspectives on communication with the people, examining the factors that influenced the worldview of Sufi thinkers, the ideological and Sufi roots of their ideas, and the role of Naqshbandi leaders' communication concepts in the development of Sufi teachings. The classification is based on a historical-philosophical approach, highlighting the logical-functional features of these concepts. The conceptual ideas presented in this monograph are intended to enrich the theoretical and methodological foundations of cultivating a perfect human being in the context of the New Uzbekistan, where human dignity is increasingly valued, as well as globally. They emphasize the principles of reconciliation, tolerance, patience, and gratitude in Sufism, contributing to the development of social and humanitarian sciences. The work also suggests practical applications for cultural-educational institutions, communities, family centers, and organizations working on intellectual development in their day-to-day operations. This monograph is aimed at students, professors, researchers, and a broad readership.
Modeling Musical Analysis
Music theory has recently seen burgeoning efforts to make the field more inclusive and diverse. One prominent response involves a concerted effort to collect musical examples by historically marginalized composers for use in the classroom. Less has been done, however, on behalf of the scholars whose work is taught in our classrooms. This collection addresses this concern: scholarship taught in the music theory classroom is often dominated by one particular cultural reality, and this collection is a step toward changing that paradigm by bringing together short essays written by marginalized scholars who model analytical writing for students using a variety of music theories and genres from diverse regions of the world, including for example China, India, Japan, North and South America, and Turkey. The essays represent current music analytical trends in a substantial breadth of genres, including ballet, chamber music, film music, jazz, musical theater, opera, oratorio, orchestral music, popular music, video game music, and vocal music. Modeling Musical Analysis marks an important step in making the field of music theory, the classroom, and the study of music in general more inclusive by amplifying the representation of, and substantive contributions made by, scholars of color.
Environmental Impact Assessment
Environmental impact assessment (EIA) in urban residential subdivisions is an essential step in the process of sustainable urban planning. This study sought to assess the environmental impacts of an urban allotment in the municipality of Malta, Para穩ba. The methodology was based on a bibliographical study, field visits, photodocumentation and the use of the Ad Hoc, Check List and Interaction Matrix environmental impact assessment methods. Thirty-five environmental impacts were identified, of which 17% were "Not Significant", 74% "Significant" and 9% "Very Significant". It was found that the abiotic environment had more negative environmental impacts, such as pollution and/or contamination of the soil and/or water sources. Environmental control measures and plans were proposed for the significant negative impacts and to maximize the positive impacts of the project, with the aim of contributing to sustainable urban development and improving the quality of life of the local population.
Education and Gender
The book that is now being published aims to analyse gender relations and the challenges of diversity in the school environment. It starts from the premise that there is a historical and social relationship between the construction of culture and education, to the extent that education transmits values, norms and habits, but can also take a critical look at them. 'This is why debating, discussing and questioning gender, race, sexuality and class relations in the school environment is so important, as it allows us to work on diversity and break with exclusionary actions.' By analysing the history of education in Brazil, it was possible to help identify advances and setbacks, as well as to understand the meaning of current public education policies, especially with regard to the debate on diversity and gender; norms and challenges that affect gender equality and diversity in schools. - Prof Dr Marcelo Andrade Cattoni de Oliveira - (UFMG).
Music Teaching in the Brazilian Prison Context
This research aims to understand the impact, unfolding and repercussions of music education in the prison context, and how these musical practices alter the intrinsic and peripheral relationships of the prison system, through the comparative analysis of three case studies, fruit of research and music education projects in this specific environment. Firstly, an explanation was given of the concepts that permeate music education and social projects in Brazil, based on Kleber (2014) and Souza (2014). Subsequently, projects related to music in prisons in various Brazilian states were presented in accordance with the Ministry of Justice's national document 'Good Practices in the National Penitentiary System'. The methodology used for this study was bibliographical research that uncovered two studies and a music education project in three prisons: Pres穩dio Regional de Santa Maria (PRSM), Rio Grande do Sul; Penitenci獺ria Dr Francisco Nogueira Fernandes (Alca癟uz), Rio Grande do Norte; and Penitenci獺ria Industrial de Cascavel (PIC) in Paran獺.
Sense 8 and the consumption of streaming series
Television has always been a changing medium. Thanks to rapid technological development, TV has now gone beyond the confines of its own set and can be found on a wide variety of screens. With this new offer comes new forms of spectatorship. The aim of this research is to analyse the consumption and narrative of television series made exclusively for streaming. As such, this project aims to investigate how Netflix, through the series Sense8, thinks about its production and how it wants its viewers to relate to its content.
Socio-environmental problems in Portel
This book invites the reader to learn about the lives of riverside dwellers in the municipality of Portel, in the state of Par獺, due to the lack of sanitation, adequate housing and public policies. The disorganised growth of cities, the lack of proper planning and basic sanitation contribute to the emergence of various waterborne diseases. In this book, the author presents the importance of water, as well as basic sanitation and the harmful effects these have on physical, mental and social well-being. The author also shows the reader how water pollution occurs in rivers, in the underground environment and in distributors, as well as describing the environmental conditions in which the population of the seaside bridge in the municipality of Portel lives, identifying the diseases that occur frequently, basic sanitation and the public policies promoted by municipal managers.
Cross-Cultural Collaboration in Popular Music
Cross-cultural collaboration in popular music represents opportunities for the audibility of multiple voices and the creation of new sounds, but it also presents many challenges. These challenges are both musical - that is, how to technically match voices - and ethical - that is, how to negotiate historically entrenched power discrepancies. Practice-based research has recently developed as a field in popular music studies. This burgeoning area has much to offer in terms of new knowledge, based on embodied insights, lived experience, and an arts practice. Through a practitioner-centred account of three projects involving traditional Persian and Vietnamese musicians, and western folk/rock musicians, this Element suggests pragmatic strategies and conceptual frameworks for making pop music with people of different cultural backgrounds.

Law of Attraction and Manifestation Learning from Nature
The Law of Attraction has fascinated people and changed lives for centuries by combining ideas from philosophy, psychology, and spirituality. To fully understand it, we need to explore its origins and how it developed over time. The idea can be traced back to ancient spiritual and philosophical practices that focused on the power of thoughts, beliefs, and intentions. Throughout history, many philosophers believed that human consciousness has the power to shape reality. This belief aligns with spiritual traditions that suggest the universe is a flow of energies that respond to our inner thoughts and feelings, much like how plants and trees respond to the energies of the sun, water, and the earth to grow and thrive. The environment reflects this flow, as every element, from sunlight to the soil, contributes to the life and growth of living organisms. In the 19th century, the Law of Attraction became more clearly defined, largely thanks to the New Thought movement in the United States. This movement emphasized the idea that people could change their realities through positive thinking and the power of the mind. Important figures like Phineas Quimby and Ralph Waldo Emerson supported the idea that our thoughts are not just random but powerful tools that can bring specific experiences into our lives. Quimby believed that by changing our thoughts, we could reduce suffering and create the life we desire-just as natural energies bring about changes in the environment. This mirrors how trees in a forest react to the changes in seasons, with each season offering a different type of growth or shedding, much like how our thoughts change and shape the reality we experience.

Teaching and Learning Dance Through Meaningful Gestures
Teaching and Learning Dance Through Meaningful Gestures explores how technique is a philosophy and a theory, and how the body is an instrument for expression. Teaching in three languages - Spanish, English, and Italian -has had a profound effect on me: I have found clear explanations, metaphors, and stories that communicate my approach to training. I have written this book to foster dialogue and community between the three cultures that I have been a part of, to share the knowledge and experience I've gained over the past 35 years, and to advocate for thoughtful dance training. This book will serve current and future dancers and teachers as they continue to train and explore the professional world of dance. It is my hope that my experiences can guide young dancers as they embark on their own journeys. Lenzu has written for various dance and arts magazines and in 2013 published her first book, Unveiling Motion and Emotion, which contains writings in Spanish and English on the importance of dance, community, choreography, and dance pedagogy.
Peter Br繹tzmann
Explores the heroic life and revolutionary music of the pioneering German saxophonist, and the radical social and political convictions that informed them. Peter Br繹tzmann is the first ever, full-length, English-language biography of one of the most fascinating and inspiring personalities in the history of Western improvised music - and one of the key artistic figures to emerge from the socio-cultural tumult of the 1960s. Drawing on extensive interviews with Br繹tzmann and key associates, it traces the German saxophonist's crucial role as a pioneer of European free jazz, his restless travels and collaborations and his eventual superstardom, examining the life and work of a fiercely uncompromising artist with a reputation for gruff intensity and total commitment. Digging deep into the history and aesthetics of free jazz in Europe and beyond, it provides detailed analysis of music by Br繹tzmann and other major figures, while positioning Br繹tzmann's work - and the wider free jazz milieu - in the context of the revolutionary left-wing, humanist and utopian ideals that inspired and underpinned it. Both intimate and wide-ranging, it tells the story of a man and a music that changed the world.

It's Only Words
Most of us can hum, whistle, or tap out a favourite tune but not too many of us can recall the lyrics, the words. Yet it is the skill of the wordsmith, the lyricist who at the stroke of a pen can transport us, if only for a moment, into our own world recalling cathartic events, romantic moments and nostalgic longings for times gone by. In just a few short strokes of his pen the skilled lyricist can move us to tears or anger or is able to stimulate pride or joy. Popular music is at an all-time high and I would defy anyone reading this book not to be able to find a song that they could not identify with or indeed have been emotionally associated with at some point in their formative years or indeed in their twilight years! During the writing of this book, I admit to many moments, good and bad, when the words of skilled lyricists left their songs stimulating incidents and memories long since relegated to the back of my mind!

Using the Canvas tool to define the business model
Globalisation and technological advances have changed the way people and companies relate to each other. In the business environment, dynamism, information complexity and fierce competition force organisations to adapt quickly to the market. New entrepreneurs and managers are looking to develop a business model to survive, make a profit and generate income in the face of technological complexity and dynamism. The Canvas tool, developed by scholar Alexander Osterwalder (2004) and later improved by Osterwalder and Pigneur (2010), is one of the ways to build and rebuild an organisation's business model in order to achieve the best organisational performance in a competitive market. This study seeks to characterise, according to bibliographical research on the subject, how the Business Model Canvas works in the process of creating and perfecting a Business Model for organisations competing in today's market. To this end, a case study was used in a company that provides lift maintenance services in Fortaleza, CE.
Identity and Difference in the Construction of Cape Verdean Culture
The main focus of this paper is to analyse how the processes of construction of Cape Verdean identity and cultures have taken place and to illustrate possible avenues for the construction of a decolonial and anti-racist identity, valuing its singularities and differences. On the other hand, this analysis seeks to offer an understanding of the tension between identity and difference in the construction of Cape Verdean culture and is supported by Frantz Fanon's philosophical and social thinking on the issue of race and colonisation, presented above all in his book Black Skin White Masks. This is why we believe that, through his conceptual reflections and analyses of the situation of black people, he offers us a basis for thinking about certain aspects of the construction of Cape Verdean cultural identity, especially those relating to the possibilities of affirming a decolonised and anti-racist Cape Verdean identity.
Western Conducting Practices in Twenty First Century Southern Nigeria
The book discusses Western conducting practices, the evolution of conducting concepts, and the theory of conducting dynamism. Western conducting evolves stringent conducting practices when applied to Western art music through the application of strict conducting patterns and convention in tandem with Western classicism. Western conducting produces syncretic conducting when applied to African art music through the adoption of African and Western music idioms in performative syncretism. Western conducting interacts with gospel music and evolves synthetic conducting through the adoption of idioms from assorted music cultures: Popular, African and Western. The theory of conducting dynamism explains the interception of conducting practices, and concepts in conducting transmutations in tandem with different music cultures, music contexts, music compositions; and music conductors. The book challenges conducting conventions, recommends the upgrade of conducting concepts, materials and methods, techniques, objectives and education in line with the emerging conducting practices in twenty first century Southern Nigeria and beyond.
Use of arbitration by construction companies
Construction activities are intrinsically complex, the result of many variables and a large amount of information involved, which makes it difficult to manage risks and predict conflicts, which can turn into a dispute. Contracts, which are instruments of agreement and regulate the actions of the agents and are signed for the realisation of projects, are often poorly drafted and create fertile ground for disputes and lawsuits, which generate losses for the agents and stakeholders involved. State justice is slow due to the backlog of cases and high costs. As an alternative, federal law 9307/96 instituted arbitration, a form of private dispute resolution created with the intention of being quick, low-cost and confidential. The aim of this work is to analyse the frequency and conditions of use of arbitration in construction contracts, to identify the advantages and disadvantages that a construction company will have in using it, in order to suggest actions aimed at increasing its use by construction companies.
Agromusical Ecosophy
Agromusical Ecosophy: peasant knowledge in mariachi sones, is a work where the lyrics of the sones are analyzed and the peasant knowledge implicit in them is contextualized, reflecting on agro-historical data of the time in which they were composed, thus understanding their ecosocial impact, both on the public and on the composers and musicians. The objective was to locate and interpret such knowledge contained in the sones, in order to reevaluate them through their discussion in the agronomic field. It was found that there are many sones whose meaning has to do with the activities of the rural environment, with such a validity that they are highly appreciated for their complexity, both musical and identity in the current context of the new rurality and environmental complexity.
Memories on screen
Between the late 1960s and the early 1970s, during the military dictatorship in Brazil, L繳cia Maria Murat Vasconcellos was a young middle-class woman from Rio de Janeiro and a university student involved in armed resistance against the regime. Having lived underground and been arrested by agents of political repression, her personal story is marked by the hardships suffered by part of the Brazilian left under the dictatorship. Today she has a well-established career in Brazilian cinema, in which she does not shy away from tackling intimate and sensitive themes that relate to her experiences and to this dark period in national history. These are the questions that permeate this book, which is the result of my monograph, defended at the History Institute of the Federal University of Uberl璽ndia (UFU) in 2016, to obtain my bachelor's and licentiate's degrees in History, under the guidance of Professor Dr M繫nica Brincalepe Campo.
Sound Research for Troubling Times
This edited collection takes the prompt "hope in crisis" as a starting point for investigating sound research as it is situated in these troubling times. The book brings together thinkers from numerous scholarly domains (i.e. communication studies, art education, creative art therapy, psychology and philosophy) to explore the question of hope as it relates to sonic research-creation practices in/and times of crisis. Some of the prompts and provocations explored by the authors within the collection include, but are not limited to: explorations of sonic research-creation practices as they are situated within contemporary convergence of crises; theoretical investigations of the concept of hope as it relates to sonic temporalities, ontologies, and epistemologies; articulations of experimental sonic pedagogies; examinations of hope as it plays out in institutional settings and/or sound and music scenes (i.e. music education, artistic communities, activist communities); investigations of experimental listening practices as they relate to contemporary crises; explorations of post-human, non-human, and inhuman sonic resonances in research-creation practices; and experimental practices that deploy sound and sonic approaches for emergent, collective research both within, but also outside of, academic institutions. Positioned as a material that holds the potential to frustrate common approaches to research, whether through its refusal of occularcentric perspectives, its leaky data protocols or its distortion of future horizons, sound is explored here as that which might counter the default refrains that have pushed hope itself into crisis. Importantly, while sound research is explored in this book in relation to hope, it is not offered up as a better way forward, nor is it presented as a solution. Sound research is instead posed as a question, with each author responding in their own way through experiments with the potentials, but also limits, of and for sonic practices. Central to the project, then, is the question of how to collectively and creatively respond to the increasingly difficult- even untenable-circumstances that have come to limit future possibilities, both within fields of research but also beyond, without falling back on the unquestioned assumption that hope alone will actualize a desired otherworld. The sound research gathered here experiments with such possibilities in order to grapple with how present conditions, including conditions for research, are always contingent-always already in trouble-and thus also subject to change both conceptually and materially.
Recognising obstacles to effective access to justice
This article seeks to understand the main obstacles that prevent a greater number of conciliations in the Special Federal Courts, and whether they can be overcome. The aim is to elucidate some of the changes needed to make greater consensual conflict resolution possible, as a way of offering qualified access to the legal system and encouraging a culture of consensuality, while also helping to reveal some of the challenges that lie ahead for the future of traditional civil procedure. It is well known that the discussion of the issue in question is not unprecedented, but it remains necessary in order to achieve better and easier access to justice, as initially proposed by the Law on Special Federal Courts and now by the New Code of Civil Procedure.

The Hyperorchestra
This book studies the "hyperorchestra" as used in music for the screen and draws from the intersection of practice and theory. The term hyperorchestra derives from hyperreality, a postmodern philosophical concept coined by Jean Baudrillard. The hyperorchestra is a virtual ensemble that inhabits hyperreality. It approaches music spectrally with the aim of becoming a more effective vessel for meaning generation. The book is informed by concepts from postmodern philosophy, such as hyperreality and Marshall McLuhan's theory of media. The book is also informed by the author's own compositional practice; it describes contemporary processes, current software tools, orchestration and instrumentation principles, and contemporary approaches to music composition (such as spectral music). In doing so, the book proposes a new perspective for analyzing contemporary film music that pinpoints the importance of the relationship between timbre, meaning, and the different narrative levels within an audiovisual piece.

An intervention was carried out in a public school with 9th grade primary school students. A pre-test was carried out to check the students' knowledge of the three parasitic diseases: Dengue, Zika and Chikungunya, followed by a lecture with images and figures, then a game called "Race against Aedes" and a post-test. Aiming to provide information in the school environment about the aforementioned diseases and preventive measures to control their spread.
The Intersection of Animation, Video Games, and Music
In both video games and animated films, worlds are constructed through a combination of animation, which defines what players see on the screen, and music and sound, which provide essential cues to action, emotion, and narrative. This book offers a rich exploration of the intersections between animation, video games, and music and sound, bringing together a range of multidisciplinary lenses. In 14 chapters, the contributors consider similarities and differences in how music and sound structure video games and animation, as well as the animation within video games, and explore core topics of nostalgia, adaptation, gender, and sexuality. Offering fresh insights into the aesthetic interplay of animation, video games, and sound, this volume provides a gateway into new areas of study that will be of interest to scholars and students across musicology, animation studies, game studies, and media studies more broadly.

Exploring the Ecologies of Music and Sound
Makis Solomos explores the ecologies of music and sound, inspired by Felix Guattari, for whom environmental destruction caused by capitalism goes hand in hand with deteriorating ways of living and feeling, and for whom an ecosophical stance, combining various ecological registers, offers a glimpse of emancipation, a position strengthened today by intersectional approaches. Solomos explores environmental, mental and social ecologies through the lens of the history of music and current artivisms - especially in the fields of acoustic ecology, contemporary music and sound art. Several theoretical and analytical debates are put forward, including a theory of sound milieus and the biopolitics of sound; the relationships between music and the living world; soundscape compositions, field recording, ecomusicology, and the creation of sound biotopes; the use of sound and music to violent ends as well as considering the social and political functions of music and the autonomy of art, sonic ecofeminism, degrowth in music, and much more.
Narratives of teachers who teach maths in the municipality of Arari
In this book, the author aims to identify how the process of training maths teachers is constituted in the state of Maranh瓊o, with a focus on the municipality of Arari. The historical framework used is the implementation of the National Education Guidelines and Bases Law - LDBEN, Law No. 9.394/96. The research used the theoretical framework of Oral History as a qualitative research methodology. The oral narratives were based on interviews with teachers from the public school system in the municipality. The following procedures were adopted in the process of creating the oral sources: drawing up the interview script, conducting recorded interviews, transcribing and textualising the interviews and obtaining a letter of assignment. The script contained questions about the initial training of maths teachers, so as to enable them to revisit memories of their initial training. However, some changes were necessary as one of the teacher's answers prompted other questions. From the analysis of the narratives, the conditions of initial training and experiences in teaching stand out.
