Mapping Canada’s Music
Mapping Canada's Music is a selection of writings by the late Canadian music librarian and historian Helmut Kallmann (1922-2012). Most of the essays deal with aspects of Canadian music, but some are also autobiographical, including one written during retirement in which Kallmann recalls growing up in a middle-class Jewish family in 1930s Berlin under the spectre of Nazism.Of the seventeen selected writings by Kallmann, five have never before been published; many of the others are from difficult-to-locate sources. They include critical and research essays, reports, reflections, and memoirs. Each chapter is prefaced with an introduction by the editors. Two initial chapters offer a biography of Kallmann and an assessment of his contributions to Canadian music.The variety, breadth, and scope of these writings confirm Kallmann's pioneering role in Canadian music research and the importance of his legacy to the cultural life of his adopted country. In the current climate of cuts to archival collections and services, the publication of these essays by and about a pre-eminent collector and historian serves as a timely reminder of the importance of cultural memory.

Influence of Aflatoxin on the phagocytic capacity of neutrophils and mo
Aflatoxin is a mycotoxin that can be present in various foods and is a source of poisoning for humans and animals. Patients with aflatoxin poisoning have a worrying degree of morbidity and mortality. However, little is known about its effects on the human body and how immunopathological processes are triggered. As phagocytosis is a very important mechanism, it is necessary to understand the possibility of it causing immunodepression in the individual. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of aflatoxin on the phagocytic capacity of human neutrophils and monocytes by counting the number of monocytes and neutrophils involved in phagocytosis, the average number of Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeasts phagocytosed and/or adhered and the phagocytic index and superoxide production. The results showed a negative modulation of phagocytosis, both due to a reduction in the yeasts ingested/adhered and the lower number of cells involved.

Use of psychoactive drugs by women in jail in the city of cajazeiras
Incarcerated women are more vulnerable to developing mental disorders. This means that the consumption of psychotropic drugs among these women is higher than in the general population. In this sense, an assessment of the use of psychotropic drugs by women in prison is essential to promote the planning of mental health care actions and strategies. The aim of this study was to assess the use of psychotropic drugs by women in prison in the city of Cajazeiras. This is a quantitative descriptive-exploratory study, of a non-probabilistic intentional nature, carried out with 30 female inmates in January 2015 in the public prison in the city of Cajazeiras - PB. Data was collected using a questionnaire containing questions about the use of psychotropic drugs, together with medical records. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and organized, tabulated and analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), version 21.0. The research complied with the ethical rules governed by the guidelines of Resolution No. 466/2012 of the National Health Council (CNS), which regulates research.

These writings speak to how being a person of color within this field has affected them and shine a light on the prejudice, stigmas, and stereotypes facing musicians of color in the field. Many musicians of color face discrimination, bias, and prejudice at some point during their time within their careers, but this is not fully known or acknowledged by the field at large. The featured writings show that the challenges musicians of color face are common and systemic. With this anthology, more awareness is brought to what musicians of color face through first-hand accounts with the hope to make the western classical music field a more inclusive and equitable space for all.

Regularization of food from family farming
The National School Feeding Program (PNAE) appears to be a potential integrator of food and nutrition education policies related to the health of the school-age population, as well as creating markets for the products of family farmers. From this perspective, guaranteeing the sanitary quality of food implies adopting preventive and control measures throughout the production chain, from its origin to the consumption of food in school establishments. This work emphasizes the practices of health surveillance and its interaction with other inspection bodies in relation to the regularization of food from family farming. It concludes that there are many limitations faced by municipal health inspectorates, ranging from an insufficient number of staff with poor qualifications, a lack of knowledge of the PNAE program's rules and guidelines, to carrying out inspections and releasing products of animal origin whose responsibility is not assigned to them in accordance with the legislation.
Physical education from the perspective of ethnic-racial relations
One of the great achievements of black people in Brazil was the enactment of Law 10.639/2003, which in turn amended Law 9.394/1996 (the National Guidelines and Bases Law - LDB), making it compulsory to teach "Afro-Brazilian and indigenous history and culture" in the basic education curriculum throughout the country. We should also point out that Law 10.639/03 also applies to higher education institutions, as stated in CNE/CP opinion 3/2004, of March 10, 2004. In any case, in order for the legislation to actually be implemented, from a practical point of view, it is necessary for schools and universities to have professionals with specific training to deal with the issue. The main aim of our work was to investigate whether there are any subjects that include Education for Ethnic and Racial Relations in Physical Education degree courses at universities and colleges in the Recife Metropolitan Region.

All recommendations of the author are based on personal experience of rendering assistance to injured children with fractures and dislocations of the head of the radius in the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Traumatology and Orthopedics of Samarkand branch. The effectiveness of the authors' recommendations is confirmed by a decrease in mortality and an increase in the number of patients treated in the pediatric department.

Servanthood of Song is a history of American church music from the colonial era to the present. Its focus is on the institutional and societal pressures that have shaped church song and have led us directly to where we are today. The gulf which separates advocates of traditional and contemporary worship--Black and White, Protestant and Catholic--is not new. History repeatedly shows us that ministry, to be effective, must meet the needs of the entire worshiping community, not just one segment, age group, or class. Servanthood of Song provides a historical context for trends in contemporary worship in the United States and suggests that the current polemical divisions between advocates of contemporary and traditional, classically oriented church music are both unnecessary and counterproductive. Not only does Thompson highlight the rich detail of British musical life, but his description of his musical tour of Europe in 1889 represents a significant contribution to nineteenth-century travel writing and the nature of music-making abroad.

Prostitution has long been considered one of the oldest and most stigmatized human and economic activities in the world, for Reyes (2019) there are two visions surrounding this activity, one of labor order based on the signals of the International Labor Organization ILO and another of criminal order in which it is perceived as an activity that transgresses human rights. This is a profession in which sexual relations or erotic content are exchanged in exchange for economic compensation, and in which multiple forms of violence, prejudice and exclusion converge. In the local context, there is currently a different legal understanding thanks to two circumstances: first, the activation of the tutela action, by sex workers who consider that they are bearers of fundamental rights and therefore have demanded the State to protect them, and second, due to the judicial responses provided by the Colombian high courts that have interpreted that voluntary prostitution or sex work should be comparable in rights to any lawful labor activity.

Writing this Tango Course is both an obligation and a great pleasure for me.It is an obligation because I would like to contribute something (of all the things that I owe) in return as an appreciation of having been fortunate enough to educate myself in the Orchestras, where I learned to play Tango.The Orchestras were a crucible where the ideas of its members and/or other creative musicians experimented, played, and came together to create playing styles, rhythmic forms, etc. These contributions were what took the Tango, little by little, to such a high musical level.Nowadays, it is not at all easy to belong to an Orchestra, considering the fact that so few can subsist. This makes it more difficult for those who want to have careers in Tango music to acquire the vast knowledge necessary for playing and interpreting it. Let us not forget that the Orchestras have always been the best schools for such an apprenticeship.It is also a great pleasure to be able to transmit and share that what I have learned, trying always not to leave anything out (that is my real intention) by relying on my memory which fortunately still helps me.I never intended for my conclusions to be taken as the absolute truth, nor wanted to win something over anyone, in anything. This course just shows my position, and the ideas with which I have always worked.We will deal here with the Tango in versions which, in my understanding, are genuine manifestations of itself. I love the Tango because I love good music, and I got into it to learn to play it, not to change it. If my versions and arrangements have something different about them, it is only because this is my language, and I have expressed myself through it.I will also talk about the incorporation of new contributions and changes, as long as they are authentic within the genre.The many streams of opinion may or may not coincide with what will be said in this course. Considering the broadness of the theme and the flexibility which should govern artistic creation, other concepts may prove constructive as well.I sincerely hope that this course will be useful to someone, Horacio Salg獺n.

Yuupurnju: A Warlpiri song cycle documents a ceremonial song cycle situated within the traditional kurdiji "shield" ceremony, as sung by Warlpiri Elder Henry Cooke Anderson Jakamarra at Lajamanu, Northern Territory, in 2013.The song cycle relates to a women's Jukurrpa Dreaming narrative, and tells the story of a group of ancestral women on a journey across the country. Production of Pinus elliottii Engelm. and Pinus caribaea Morelet
In the Mozambican forestry sector, assessing the growth and determining the yield of the main planted species (Pinus spp and Eucalypto spp) has been a major concern. Therefore, this study aims to assess the growth and production of Pinus elliottii Engelm. and Pinus caribaea Morelet. The study was carried out at IFLOMA's plantations in Bandula, Manica district. For this study, continuous forest inventory (CFI) data was used from 6 permanent plots of 0.125ha (50 x 25 m) in stands of different ages, 4 of which were Pinus elliottii at 11, 11.2, 12 and 32.3 years of age and 2 of Pinus caribaea at 13 and 39.3 years of age. To monitor the plots, successive sampling with total repetition was used. Evaluations were carried out on two occasions, 2013 and 2020. In each plot, the DBH, total height and qualitative characteristics of the trees were measured, namely stem form (FT), health status (ES), and branching and bifurcation (RB) and the average annual increment (IMA), periodic increment (IP) and annual periodic increment (IPA) were also evaluated, in terms of DBH, height, basal area and volume.

With so many changes in the health sector, it is important to understand whether nurses are satisfied in the exercise of their professional activity. This is an observational, analytical and cross-sectional study using quantitative methodologies, applied to 41 perioperative nurses working at the ULSNE, with the aim of assessing their perception of satisfaction with their work. The data collection instrument consisted of questions relating to sociodemographic and professional characterization, and the Job Satisfaction Scale (EST) by Ribeiro (2002).

By showing how music intersected with wider cultural affairs, such as philosophy and criticism, this book connects music and the modern in eighteenth-century Spain within the context of Enlightenment thought. Histories of modern Europe often present late eighteenth-century Spain as a backward place struggling to keep pace with modernity. During the reign of Charles III (1759-1788), Spain pushed for economic and cultural modernization, but encountered resistance from members of the public and the elite alike. They viewed the modern as a passing fad that would, in time, show its fragility, and believed Spain would withstand the collapse thanks to its firm grounding in the pillars of monarchy, religion, and traditional forms of knowledge. One source of this solid foundation was the long-established musical knowledge based on the rules of counterpoint. In contrast, modernizers argued that Spain could be true to its essence, yet simultaneously modern and cosmopolitan: they favoured cosmopolitan genres, such as Italian opera, and artistic expression over counterpoint rules. At times this led to more creative uses of music, such as reinterpreting pastoral and sentimental topics to accommodate reformist political trends. Music was considered crucial to the integrity of the Spanish nation by both sides. Whether and how Spain became modern would in many ways be defined and reinforced by the kinds of music that Spaniards composed and witnessed on stage.
