Under the Sapphire Moon
"Carolyn and I have been writing songs since 1997. Our first song was "Safari Mitzi." Over the years, we've gained a wealth of musical knowledge and expertise from arrangements by Frank Metis, Noah Luna, Alexis Lamb, and Michael Gancz. Frank, in particular, took me under his wing like a father, providing the encouragement I needed when I first started out. I've also composed several songs on my own, and all of them are original, just like Carolyn's lyrics.p>This collection represents my love songs, carefully curated. I deliberately avoid writing commercially mundane songs for the younger iPhone generation, who often prefer loud noise with booming effects produced on a computer using drum machines. It's not just about creating hits in genres like country, hip-hop, or rap; sentimentality doesn't always resonate these days. While some of my songs may seem outdated, they come straight from the heart. Perhaps people will appreciate them even a hundred years from now.p>In the illustrations by Jason Fowler, I've woven a story around Catherine, leaving the mystery open for the audience's interpretation. Who was the real Parisian Catherine of long ago?Carolyn and I continue to reside in Ft. Myers, where we've welcomed a new addition to our family: "Sassy," a loving cat we rescued from an animal shelter. She's quite the character, running the household and keeping her brother Ollie in check
Articulated chair
The aim of this book was to design a vehicle suitable for use by people with special needs, specifically wheelchair users, who visit or want to get to know the area used for environmental preservation, focusing on the origin of life of the sea turtles that lay their eggs there. The idea was based on the aspect of sustainability and accessibility, using Portal Brasil, which deals legally with the subject, as a point of support. According to Machado (2005), the defence of sustainable development will shape the development of the research. To build the project, it was necessary to contextualise the TAMAR Project, conceptualise accessibility, define sustainability and the legal framework that makes it up. The project was designed to build an articulated chair at a reduced cost, using material from auctions, scrap metal and discards, with the aim of using it in the TAMAR Project in the state of Esp穩rito Santo. In the course of this work, a suggestion will be made for using parts from seized vehicles that have not been recovered, which are in a state of scrap in DETRAN-accredited yards.
We Take Care of Our Own
We Take Care of Our Own traces the evolution of Bruce Springsteen's beliefs, beginning with his New Jersey childhood and ending with his most recent works from Springsteen on Broadway to Letter to You. The author follows the singer's life, examining his albums and a variety of influences (both musical and nonmusical), especially his Catholic upbringing and his family life, to show how he became an outspoken icon for working-class America--indeed for working-class life throughout the world. In this way, the author emphasizes the universality of Springsteen's canon and depicts how a working-class sensibility can apply to anyone anywhere who believes in fairness and respect. In addition, the author places Springsteen in the historical context not only of literature (especially John Steinbeck) but also of the art world (specifically the work of Thomas Hart Benton and Edward Hopper). Among the themes explored in the book include community, a sense of place, America as the Promised Land, the myth of the West, and, ultimately, mortality.
Fruit Pulp Production in the Po癟os Community in Teixeira - PB
The aim of this work was to recognize the economic importance of the fruit pulp processing unit for the beneficiaries of the Po癟os community and, in addition to establishing criteria for evaluating the income of those associated with the activity studied, it will also promote an analysis of the improvements that have led to environmental preservation in line with international standards, as well as identifying and seeking to understand determining factors for improving production and raising income in the community, possibilities for positive changes resulting from the installation of the processing unit. The theories of Solidarity Economy, Cooperativism and its trends are used, as well as the conceptualization of the semi-arid territory of Northeast Brazil. The methodology of this study adopted an inductive and explanatory approach, using a bibliographic survey. It took place in a community that already has a fruit pulp processing unit set up in an associative system. Data was collected using a pre-prepared questionnaire, together with interviews with the association's representatives, and access was also gained to the association's financial and accounting data.

Capital Bluegrass
With its rich but underappreciated musical heritage, Washington, D.C. is often overlooked as a cradle for punk, the birthplace of go go, and as the urban center for bluegrass in the Untied States. Capital Bluegrass: Hillbilly Music Meets Washington, D.C. richly documents the history and development of bluegrass in and around the nation's capital since it emerged in the 1950s. In his seventeenth book, American vernacular music scholar Kip Lornell discusses both well-known progressive bluegrass bands including the Country Gentlemen and the Seldom Scene, and lesser known groups like the Happy Melody Boys, Benny and Vallie Cain and the Country Clan, and Foggy Bottom. Lornell focuses on colorful figures such as the brilliant and eccentric mandolin player, Buzz Busby, and Connie B. Gay, who helped found the Country Music Association in Nashville. Moving beyond the musicians to the institutions that were central to the development of the genre, Lornell brings the reader into the nationally recognized Birchmere Music Hall, and tunes in to NPR powerhouse WAMU-FM, which for five decades broadcast as much as 40 hours a week of bluegrass programming. Dozens of images illuminate the story of bluegrass in the D.C. area, photographs and flyers that will be new to even the most veteran bluegrass enthusiast. Bringing to life a music and musical community integral to the history of the city itself, Capital Bluegrass tells an essential tale of bluegrass in the United States.
Bob Marley
This is a collection of essays from the International Symposium in Honour of Bob Marley: 40 Years After, held on 11 May 2021 at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The essays examine the contributions of Bob Marley towards the sustenance of the philosophy of Pan-Africanism as well as the intellectual ideology of Marcus Garvey. It also looked at reggae music as an effective means of disseminating information and making discontent or disaffection and as well explores the nexus between the struggle for the emancipation and liberation for the African continent. The Bob Marley's Redemption songs inspired the need to unite and fight against the repressive tendencies of the neo-colonialists agents militating against Africa. The essays in this volume are multidimensional from scholars of different backgrounds in humanities and social sciences. It recreates the nexus between music, history, philosophy and popular culture. Bob Marley provides the template of new epistemological rethinking of teaching history and decoloniality from the lens of music. This volume provides a new dimension of understanding the African narratives in slavery, colonialism and neo-colonialism. It challenges western filer thoughts on the persistent struggle of class struggle and imperial instituted regimes in Africa.

Hybrid Mobile Robotics
Robotics aimed at exploration has been very widespread in space, but knowing the land itself is essential, in the author's view. In this way, the application of autonomous vehicles capable of locomotion in water and on land becomes a point of advance compared to other mechanisms. This is what mobile robotics is all about: developing more effective and efficient solutions for carrying out work while protecting human life, going where no one has gone before.
More Than Illustrated Music
The genre of the video clip has been established for more than thirty years, mainly served by the sub genres of video art and music video. Kinetics of Fruit Transportation by Road
Research estimates that up to 40% of agricultural production is lost in the post-harvest stages. This study analyzes the influence of corrugated cardboard and EPS packaging in protecting mangoes from the effects of vibration during road transportation. Compression tests were carried out on the packaging and its materials, where it was found that the cardboard packaging has greater resistance than the EPS packaging, 7058N to 2972N. The packages containing mangoes of two varieties, Tommy and Palmer, were subjected to vibration at a frequency of 30 Hz and an amplitude of 0.86 mm for a period of seven hours on a vibrating table built for this purpose. After this, the mangoes were stored in an environment with a temperature of 22簞C and relative humidity of approximately 40% for a period of 15 days. The mangoes were analyzed using absorbance, firmness, soluble solids and mass loss tests on day zero and every five days, checking for damage and any loss of fruit quality. The results of all the tests showed that there was a tendency for cardboard packaging to offer greater protection to the fruit when compared to EPS packaging.
The logistics of Brazilian agribusiness
One of the major concerns of all companies today is cost management, and logistics is an important tool for reducing excessive costs and increasing competitiveness. Logistics brings together various activities that all have a common objective, which is to optimise resources and materials in essential activities such as planning, procurement, storage and distribution. Logistics costs are a large part of the cost of the final product to the consumer, so better management of available resources in order to reduce costs can mean the difference for a company's survival. It's clear to see how important logistics is when we analyse all the processes involved, as we can see that every day we see the growth of large urban centres, the distance between suppliers and distributors, farms and ports, together with the need to reduce costs and the loss of products along the way, well-organised logistics makes the whole sector develop and grow over time.
Analysing slag reduction in steel plate welding
It was very difficult to become a production engineer, it's a big struggle that you can't win alone, along the way I had a lot of help from some colleagues, teachers and especially my wife Fabiane A. do N. Bristotti, who helps me to this day. In this work, I've come to pass on a little of my experience with the welding process, which I had the honour of presenting to an examining board, and having the success of completing my degree, I hope that this work can help many others who are in search of knowledge in the welding area.
Devotional Refrains in Medieval Latin Song
Throughout medieval Europe, male and female religious communities attached to churches, abbeys, and schools participated in devotional music making outside of the chanted liturgy. Newly collating over 400 songs from primary sources, this book reveals the role of Latin refrains and refrain songs in the musical lives of religious communities by employing novel interdisciplinary and analytical approaches to the study of medieval song. Through interpretive frameworks focused on time and temporality, performance, memory, inscription, and language, each chapter offers an original perspective on how refrains were created, transmitted, and performed. Arguing for the Latin refrain's significance as a marker of form and meaning, this book identifies it as a tool that communities used to negotiate their lived experiences of liturgical and calendrical time; to confirm their communal identity and belonging to song communities; and to navigate relationships between Latin and vernacular song and dance that emerge within their multilingual contexts.

Music and Victorian Liberalism
The discourse of Victorian liberalism has long been explored by scholars of literature, with reference to politics, ethics and aesthetics. Yet little attention has been paid to music's role in the context of these debates, leaving a rich collection of historical and archival detail on the periphery of our understanding. From the impact of the National Sunday League to the reception of Wagner in London, this collection of essays aims to nuance current approaches to the aesthetic facets of liberalism, examining the interaction between music and liberal ideas in a variety of social contexts. The significance of music for modern conceptions of self-hood and community is uncovered, revealing a new dimension of Victorian liberalism.
Beethoven's Symphonies Arranged for the Chamber
Early nineteenth-century composers, publishers and writers evolved influential ideals of Beethoven's symphonies as untouchable masterpieces. Meanwhile, many and various arrangements of symphonies, principally for amateur performers, supported diverse and 'hands-on' cultivation of the same works. Now mostly forgotten, these arrangements served a vital function in nineteenth-century musical life, extending works' meanings and reach, especially to women in the home. This book places domestic music-making back into the history of the classical symphony. It investigates a largely untapped wealth of early nineteenth-century arrangements of symphonies by Beethoven - for piano, string quartet, mixed quintet and other ensembles. The study focuses on three key agents in the nineteenth-century culture of musical arrangement: arrangers, publishers and performers. It investigates significant functions of those musical arrangements in the era: sociability, reception and canon formation. The volume also explores how conceptions of Beethoven's symphonies, and their arrangement, changed across the era with changing conception of musical works.
Music and Liturgy in Medieval Britain and Ireland
From music written in praise of Irish, Scottish, Welsh, and English saints to the selection of Gospel readings by the Dominicans, this book introduces readers to the richness of medieval liturgical culture from across Britain and Ireland. Each of its three main sections opens with a chapter that offers a contextual frame for its key themes. With contributions from leading experts in pre-Reformation music and its sources, the book's focus on Insular liturgy - rather than that of only one part of Britain or Ireland - allows readers to learn about the devotional, political and creative networks at play in shaping liturgical practices: personal, secular, monastic, lay, and professional. The opening part includes broader discussions of Uses, including that of Salisbury, and case studies explore Insular witnesses to devotional activities in honour of both local cults and widely known figures, including St Columba, St Margaret, St Katherine, and the Magi.
Thomas Ad癡s Studies
Thomas Ad癡s is a dominant force in contemporary music, whose work attracts significant attention and acclaim, and has been performed by many renowned ensembles. This volume - the first to present a range of scholarly essays on every aspect of Ad癡s's music - offers authoritative accounts of Ad癡s's major compositions from a variety of analytical, critical, cultural and historical perspectives. The opening chapters focus on Ad癡s's earlier music, offering close readings of key works. Further essays focus on his engagement with forms and instrumental genres. The final chapters turn to Ad癡s's texted music and highlight how themes introduced in earlier chapters cut across Ad癡s's entire output. Richly illustrated with musical examples and supported by further online material, this book provides a multi-faceted portrait of Ad癡s's work that opens up new ways of thinking about, and engaging with, his music.
Telemann Studies
Even as Georg Philipp Telemann's significance within eighteenth-century musical culture has become more widely appreciated in recent years, the English-language literature on his life and music has remained limited. This volume, bringing together sixteen essays by leading scholars from the USA, Germany, and Japan, helps to redress this imbalance as it signals a more international engagement with Telemann's legacy. The composer appears here not only as an important early Enlightenment figure, but also as a postmodern one. Chapters on his sacred music address the works' sensitivity to Lutheran and physico-theology, contrasting of historical and modern consciousness, and embodiment of an emerging opus concept. His secular compositions and writings are brought into rich dialogue with French musical and aesthetic currents. Also considered are Telemann's relationships with contemporaries such as Johann Sebastian Bach, the urban and courtly contexts for his music, and his influential position as 'general Kapellmeister' of protestant Germany.
Music Cities
There are cities that have made an indelible mark on music as incubators of genres that changed, and are changing, history. These are their stories. From London told by Blur at the height of Brit Pop, to evenings in Lagos punctuated by Afro beats, and the underground sound of Seattle shaped by Sub Pop. The pages of this book map an atlas of cities (from Rio de Janeiro to Seoul) that have made a notable and significant contribution to music, and bring them to life through the stories of their most important experiences. The book is enriched by in-depth "bonus tracks" on the most famous and unforgettable musicians, such as Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, Mahalia Jackson, the Rolling Stones, and Green Day.
The Places of Van Morrison’s Songwriting
What can we learn about Van Morrison's life and work as a songwriter through his songs? This book looks closely at the lyrics and music from a selection of his songs. Some are very well-known - 'Brown Eyed Girl', 'Cleaning Windows' and 'The Healing Game'. Others are less familiar.Through these songs the book offers insights into some of the most important ideas that the songwriter has explored across his five-decade plus career, starting from the Them period and extending through his solo albums. These readings show how thinking about Morrison's use of place provides a specific lens that contributes to a greater understanding of his art. The songs are organized into chapters that reflect many of the important places in Morrison's work as he ventured professionally and imaginatively away from the places of his upbringing towards a wider musical world. These places are in city streetscapes and country landscapes - in home places of streets and ditches, in the enclosed spaces of rooms, in the expansive reaches of the natural world, in indeterminate and specific foreign lands. A picture emerges of the journey that Van Morrison details through his songs, one that sees him first wandering as a boy through his East Belfast haunts, and then venturing out to a wider world away from this local place.
Music and Social Inclusion
The book celebrates the rich diversity of ways in which learners of all ages participate in social music projects in complex settings. Contributions focus broadly on musical and social processes, considering its conceptualization and practices in a number of contexts.

Amplifications of Black Sound from Colonial Mexico
Thinkers like W. E. B. Du Bois and Paul Gilroy have long championed sound as an affective register of Black subjectivity, particularly in the African Atlantic. Prior studies in this vein focus on Anglophone or Caribbean contexts, a tendency that furthers Mexico's marginalization within narratives of the Black and African diaspora and mutes Afro-descendant traditions that date back to the sixteenth century. Indeed, the New Spanish archive contains whispers of the region's Black sound cultures, including monetary records for the voices of enslaved singers and representations of Black music in casta paintings. Despite such evidence, it is difficult to attend fully to these subaltern voices, for the cultural filters of the lettered elite often mute or misinterpret non-European sounds. Amplifications of Black Sound from Colonial Mexico is the first extensive study of Afro-descendant sonorities in New Spain or elsewhere in colonial Latin America. In this context, it attends to Black sounds through a framework that remixes Jacques Derrida's reading of the ear's anatomy with theories like Gilroy's lower frequencies or Fred Moten's phonic materiality. Sarah Finley's aim is to unsettle the divide between self and other so the auditory archive might emerge as a polyphonic record that exceeds dichotomies of sounding object / listening subject. Through sampling the Afro-descendant sounds of this archive, this book recovers and rearticulates Black voices and auditory practices in New Spain.

Within You Without You
How did the most reluctant member of the Fab Four put his mark on all of their music? This book helps listeners hear how George Harrison shaped the sound of The Beatles and how he carried that sound forward into his solo career Within You Without You is a highly personal exploration of George Harrison's essential contributions to the Beatles and his solo work, as well as his significant role as a Western proponent of Indian music and beliefs. Through close examination of his guitar playing in the Fab Four and his songwriting both in and out of the Beatles, author Seth Rogovoy demystifies the enigma of this most reluctant of rock stars. Drawing upon the insights of the author--a rock critic and historian of over forty years standing--as well as those of expert observers including Beatles filmmaker Michael Lindsay-Hogg and English rock singer-songwriters Robyn Hitchcock and John Wesley Harding, among others, this book extensively examines George Harrison's contributions to the musical world. Within You Without You will forever change the way readers hear the music of the Beatles and view Harrison's role in the group, as well as enhancing appreciation of Harrison as a cultural figure above and beyond his work as a musician.
Impacts of shift work
The ways in which work is organised have increased and become more structured over time in order to satisfy the needs of social groups. With the growing search for material comfort combined with the need for long, uninterrupted working hours in the energy production, transport and basic health and safety services sectors, the famous "24-hour society" has emerged. As a justification for this trend towards continuous production, a case study was carried out at Transpetro S.A., with the aim of identifying the characteristics of the operating technicians at the Cabi繳nas Terminal (TECAB), the impacts generated by shift work, as well as identifying the motivating and stress factors related to work regimes.
The influence of digital marketing on a small business
The virtual world is gaining more and more ground when it comes to marketing strategies, due to its wide reach. However, these tools need to be used correctly in order to have the expected effect. That's why I approached this subject, given the importance of small businesses maintaining better communication with their customers. The research identified the influence of digital marketing in relation to the results obtained with publicity, involvement and visibility. Data from scientific articles and books was used for the bibliographical review and the field study, with daily monitoring and updating of the content of the fanpage of F獺brica de Vassouras Ecol籀gicas, a small company in the city of Campos dos Goytacazes. The results were significant and considerable, with an increase of almost 50% in reach and good results in sales. In this book we'll look at ways of achieving positive results for your company using a specific method applied to Facebook, a free or low-cost digital marketing tool, if it's in the interest of the page administrator to invest in order to get a higher return.
Live Aid
On Saturday, 13 July 1985, a blazing, cloudless summer day, millions of people settled in front of the television. It was just before noon in London, 7 AM in Philadelphia, and around the world, it was time for Live Aid. This pair of huge concerts had been arranged in fewer than four months by singer and activist Bob Geldof of The Boomtown Rats: from a standing start to sixteen hours of music, seventy-plus artists and close to two hundred songs. These concerts mesmerised a huge global audience and raised millions for the starving in Ethiopia. This revisits every band and every song that made up the two Live Aid concerts. Some made their name at Live Aid -- U2 in particular. Some bands reunited -- Status Quo, The Who, Black Sabbath -- and some were performing their last show together. Certain performances last long in the memory -- Queen, of course, but also David Bowie, Elton John, Santana and others. And some, indeed, are best forgotten ... And, behind it all, the drive of Bob Geldof: 'the best day of my life' he admitted. For a generation of music fans, 13 July 1985 was a landmark day. It was The Greatest Show On Earth. How much of it do you remember?
Evaluation of the Essential Oils of Montepuez’s Aromatic Plants
The use of medicinal plants in the treatment of illnesses is a practice that has always been used and widely spread in Mozambique. Essential oils are complex mixtures of secondary metabolites isolated from different parts of plants. Due to the increased use of these aromatic compounds, research has been carried out resulting in the development of new products. Considering the common use of aromatic plants, we conducted this study with the aim of evaluating the antimicrobial activity and chemical composition of essential oils from dried leaves of the species Cymbopogom citratus, Lantana camara, Lippia javanica, Ocimum americanum, Ocimum basilicum and Plectranthus sp., a group of plants widely used in folk medicine in the Montepuez district. The essential oils were extracted by hydrodistillation in a Clevenger apparatus. The essential oils that were active against the three microorganisms used were Cymbopogom citratus, Lippia javanica, Ocimum americanum and Ocimum basilicum. The classes of secondary metabolites were detected using gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry.
Thione Seck
Senegalese music is rich in diversity and history, having given birth to many internationally renowned artists. Among them, Thione Seck stands out as one of the most influential and respected poets. His career, spanning several decades, has not only shaped Senegal's musical landscape, but has also brought worldwide recognition to Senegalese music, particularly the mbalax genre. Born in Dakar on March 12, 1955, Thione Seck grew up in a griotte family, a traditional West African caste of musicians and storytellers. From an early age, he was immersed in the art of music and singing, which shaped his artistic future. In 1977, he joined Orchestre Baobab, one of Senegal's most famous groups, where he honed his style and gained in popularity. Thione Seck is best known for his role in the development of mbalax, a musical genre that blends traditional Senegalese rhythms with modern influences such as jazz, funk and Latin music.
Sound Theology
Sound Theology: Pipe Organ Power Plays among Protestants, Pulpits, Professors, and Peers surveys the liturgical soundscape during and after the Reformation with regard to the use of instruments in worship in general, and the (dis)use of the pipe organ specifically. Why were some sounds considered sacred, and others profane? The book tells the story of first-generation reformers' approaches to shaping their new Reformed worship services in regard to music, and the resulting debates, power plays, and ultimate compromises. Sound Theology also examines second-generation Protestants' affirmations, adaptations, and reversals. Sound Theology: A Reader is a companion volume of curated primary source material. Together, Sound Theology's two volumes tell a little-known, but colorful and foundational story that shaped Reformed worship for centuries to come.
Use of Diesel Oil in Iron Ore Flotation
Flotation, one of the most widely used concentration processes in the mineral industry, is based on the selective separation of constituents through the difference between the surface properties of the mineral substances contained in the ore and previously released fine and ultrafine particles. Reagents such as starch, amine and caustic soda are used. The emulsification of diesel oil plays an important role in the process.

Pavarotti
At age 25, after six years of intense study, Luciano Pavarotti found himself in utter despair. His voice had just faltered under the pressure of an international competition. He felt his singing had deserted him, believing that he would never achieve the status of the great tenor he aspired to be.Thirty-three years later, he conquered the citadels of opera and sang to over 500,000 people in New York's Central Park, with millions more watching the televised event worldwide. He had finally achieved his dream. Pavarotti's professional success, a journey enriched by social, educational, and cultural experiences that fuelled his ambition and refined his craft, offers a wealth of practical lessons for today's aspiring singers. In this remarkable book, accomplished conductor, director, and voice teacher Joseph Talia presents not only an insight into Pavarotti's life but also a comprehensive analysis and critique of Pavarotti's entire singing career. He reveals that success in opera demands more than just a great voice. It requires training, determination, intelligence, practice, and endurance. Operatic singing is assessed by criteria such as breathing technique, resonance balancing, register blending, and vocal quality. It calls for different voice types, temperaments, psychology, and operatic styles across varying musical and dramatic performances. Talia himself has a repertoire of over 50 major tenor roles. He brings his talent, passion and love for the melodrama that is opera to the first detailed analysis of the artistic and technical development of Luciano Pavarotti. In this intricate telling of Pavarotti's life and singing performances, informed by exhaustive research and personal interviews with his widow and close colleagues, Talia examines Pavarotti's professional experience and his adherence to the Italian School of voice training. Informed by contemporary scientific knowledge on the anatomy and physiology of singing, Talia shows us how Pavarotti's singing matured over his years of dedication and learning, leading to his success.
