Analysis of the Belo Monte HPP Environmental Impact Study
The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and the respective Environmental Impact Report (RIMA) are important documents in the environmental licensing process for potentially environmentally damaging activities. In the state of Par獺, the construction of the Belo Monte Hydroelectric Power Plant led to major discussions about the content covered in the EIA/RIMA and that established by the Terms of Reference. As such, the aim of this book was to verify the conformity of this study with the guiding document and to present reports and discussions by experts and residents on the hydroelectric project. The analysis was carried out by studying the aforementioned documents and drawing up a state of the art of the project by gathering reports on Belo Monte.

Crawford Flitch has left a lasting legacy of insightful analysis and inspiring writing, which continues to enlighten readers and scholars alike about the evolution and nuances of modern dance.
Gamifying the Music Classroom
Gamifying the Music Classroom: Digital Tools for Practical Application spotlights the application of digital game-based learning tools to enhance a General Music curriculum with a focus on grades K-8. Digital games, often referred to as video games, have the potential to act as effective educational resources in the teaching of musical concepts and skills. In this book, author Andrew J. Lesser, Ed.D., provides an introduction to how digital games can be used in educational contexts for in-service and pre-service school music teachers and shows how to successfully use them to create, perform, respond to, and connect musical content in a way that is engaging and relevant for students. The book features specific examples of over 40 digital games in the form of lesson plan outlines that are connected to educational objectives and National Core Arts Standards and that are designed to be implemented in multiple classroom technology environments. Composers in the Middle Ages
A reflection on the idea of the "composer" in the medieval period, including a study of the individuals and groups active in the creation of medieval music. The modern concept of the individual composer is central to accounts of Western music, and continues to represent a critical field of research in musicology. However, this approach cannot be straightforwardly transposed to the Middle Ages, as it does not reflect the complex creative realities of medieval composition, and conflicts with the evidence from extant sources and documentation. This collection, the first full-length study of the subject, questions and revises the concept of the composer for the medieval period through five thematic parts: 'Historiographical Critique', 'Ascriptions, Attributions, Signatures', 'Medieval Constructions of Authority and of the Authorial Persona', 'The Composing Workshop', and 'Composers as Communities'. Spanning a period from the seventh century to the early Renaissance, and taking in different cultural and geographical areas of Western Europe, the essays examine a range of repertoires and fields - plainchant, Latin devotional song, medieval motet, trouv癡re song, Ars nova, drama, and illuminated Gothic manuscripts - in diverse contexts, from clerical communities, to princely courts and lay workshops. Overall, the new perspectives here shed fresh light on the musical practices and repertoires of the Middle Ages. Chapters 6 and 10 are available as Open Access under the Creative Commons license CC-BY-NC-ND.

Refreshingly, it centres not on artists and the most powerful decision-makers but on everyday experiences of work and back-office corporate employees. Doing so reveals the internal activities and conflicts that, while hidden from public view, enable processes of change: from paperwork, data systems, managerial pressures and redundancies to graduate training schemes, departmental politics and shared playlists, providing a new route into understanding the broader cultures and infrastructures of the global recording industry. This oft-forgotten office work tells a different story of contemporary digital music, one more sensitive to the complex intersections that texture the conduct of work and organizational life.

The Possibilities of Learning Classical Guitar with the New ICTs
Technologies have influenced many areas of human life. Education is one of the areas that has been profoundly influenced. In this paper we seek to present some possibilities for the use of New Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) as a tool in the teaching-learning process of classical guitar. By analysing three types of content available on the Web (Video, Text and Audio) and some demonstrations of how to use them in the classroom, we will try to exemplify the possibilities of learning classical guitar using these technologies. To complement this statement, we will use excerpts from interviews with guitarists who use the virtual medium to disseminate knowledge about the instrument in question, as well as data from a survey of guitar students.
Einst羹rzende Neubauten's Kollaps
Perhaps the best musical encapsulation of the Cold War as experienced in the walled city of West-Berlin, Kollaps is a product of its time while remaining as vital, exhilarating and surprising as the day it was released. The book explores the contexts, themes and influences that shaped Kollaps. It describes the early days of Einst羹rzende Neubauten in West-Berlin, their infamous live performances and guerilla style recording tactics, and the scrap metal banging, piercing guitar noise and evocative lyricism that went on to inspire generations of fans. Most significantly, it explores the desire and deep sense of belonging that is expressed by what Nick Cave called the 'incredibly mournful, haunting' nature of this music. The beginning of a 40-year career, this first burst of energy remains their purest statement.
Talkin' Greenwich Village
***A Rolling Stone Best Music Book of 2024*** "Talkin' Greenwich Village is impeccably researched, elegantly written and consistently fascinating."--New York Times The definitive history of the rise and heyday of the revolutionary Greenwich Village music scene, based on new research and first-hand interviews with many of its legendary performers Although Greenwich Village encompasses less than a square mile in downtown New York, rarely has such a concise area nurtured so many innovative artists and genres. Over the course of decades, Billie Holiday, the Weavers, Sonny Rollins, Dave Van Ronk, Ornette Coleman, Bob Dylan, Nina Simone, Phil Ochs, and Suzanne Vega are just a few who migrated to the Village, recognizing it as a sanctuary for visionaries, non-conformists, and those looking to reinvent themselves. Working in the Village's smokey coffeehouses and clubs, they chronicled the tumultuous Sixties, rewrote jazz history, and took folk and rock & roll into places they hadn't been before. Based on over 150 new interviews (Judy Collins, Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock, Eric Andersen, Suzzy and Terre Roche, Suzanne Vega, Steve Forbert, Arlo Guthrie, John Sebastian, Shawn Colvin, the members of the Blues Project, and more), previously unseen documents, and author David Browne's longtime immersion in the scene, Talkin' Greenwich Village lends the saga the epic, panoramic scope it's long deserved. It takes readers from the Fifties jamborees in Washington Square Park and into landmark venues like Gerde's Folk City, the Gaslight Caf矇, and the Village Vanguard, onto Dylan's momentous arrival and returns, the no-holds-barred Seventies years (West Village discos, National Lampoon's Lemmings), and the folk revival of the Eighties (Vega's enduring "Tom's Diner"). In eye-opening fashion, Browne also details the often-overlooked people of color in the Sixties folk clubs, reveals how the FBI and city government consistently kept their eyes on the community, unearths the machinations behind the infamous "beatnik riot" in Washington Square Park, and tells the interconnected tales of Van Ronk, the seminal band the Blues Project, and the beloved sister trio, the Roches. In also recounting the racial tensions, crackdowns, and changes in New York and music that infiltrated the neighborhood, Talkin' Greenwich Village is more than just vivid cultural history. It also speaks to the rise and waning of bohemian culture itself, set to some of the most enduring lyrics, melodies, and jazz improvisations in American music.
Music in Crime, Resistance, and Identity

The Process of Reintegrating Children and Adolescents into Families
The book provides a socio-historical and theoretical-scientific contextualisation of the origin of the family, from its constitution in the primitive era to its main changes in contemporary times, with the aim of provoking reflection on the fact that there is no concept of the ideal family. It looks at the genesis of care for abandoned children since the High Middle Ages in Portugal, in order to understand the culture of institutionalisation of children and adolescents in Brazil. The main advances in relation to the family and children and adolescents after the Democratic Rule of Law was achieved with the 1988 Constitution, the Statute of the Child and Adolescent, the Organic Law on Social Assistance and the New Adoption Law of 2009. In addition to pointing out the main challenges in realising the right to family and community life. Finally, the process of family reintegration for children and adolescents in institutional care is contextualised, using legal apparatuses that guide this process, as well as theoretical references with a critical bias. The authors also put forward proposals for tackling this challenge, which is complex but possible.

Progression of technical difficulty in the 3 Brazilian Suites for piano
This book shows the progression of technical difficulty in the three Brazilian Suites for solo piano by Oscar Lorenzo Fern璽ndez (1897 - 1948), from the point of view of writing and pianistic technique, using tools that help to identify the existing difficulties. The work was analysed using the following previously established categories: tempo and rhythm, melody, texture and sonority. Each of these categories was given three possible levels of difficulty: little difficulty, reasonable difficulty and great difficulty. The analysis enabled comparisons to be made between the pieces on the basis of the criteria used and proved the existence of a gradation of pianistic difficulty in the three Su穩tes Brasileiras.
Taking a New Path?
In this indispensable book for anyone who cares about the human being as a fully socially integrated citizen, the author Maria Lucilma Freitas de Sousa looks at the context of the crisis in the prison system to discuss a question for society that is beyond bars. TREADING A NEW PATH? THE CHALLENGES OF INSERTION BEYOND THE BARRIERS traces the insensitivity of the State's constituent agents, delving into the depths of the prison system and bringing to the surface the rottenness of this world that is only built by the State's indifference to the purposely forgotten social mass. Insensitivity and/or indifference that is not conjunctural, but as the author reveals, in a globalised world, governments are on the verge of impotence in the face of structural crises, while the governed are increasingly dissatisfied. Consistently developed, the book clearly offers elements for understanding the atrocities of this space which, instead of reinserting, leads to dehumanisation. Creation of a Bande Originale de Film ? l'?re du Num矇rique
This book deals with the creation of film soundtracks in the digital age: technical possibilities and experimentation. The aim of this research is to provide composers with tips on how to create successful film soundtracks using digital equipment. To achieve this goal, we have opted for approaches based on the semiotics of cinema, as thought by Christian METZ in "Essais sur la signification au cin矇ma", the semiotics of music, as thought by Nicolas MEE?S in his work "Une approche s矇miotique de la musique", and the theory of experimentation by Michel DEVELAY in his work "Sur la m矇thode exp矇rimentale". This work is divided into four chapters: a first chapter on understanding digital music and soundtracks, a second that sheds light on analog composition, a third chapter on the composer's possibilities in the digital age, and a final chapter on experimenting with the compositional possibilities of the digital age on a concrete project.
Leonard Cohen
"Leonard Cohen is a literary masterpiece -- the seminal, comprehensive biography of a multitalented man who wrote more than his share of literary masterpieces himself." -- Foreword, Starred Review "With plenty of photographs, including of Cohen at his dapper best, this is a book to get lost in." -- Booklist, Starred Review An in-depth and amorous discussion of Cohen's life and work, fans old and new will find this page-turner a refreshing take on the singer's engagement with a broken heart and the laws of gravity. Leonard Cohen has aimed high: to be all Jewish heroes at once. Like Jacob, he struggled with angels. Like David, he sang psalms and seduced women. Like Abraham, he moved from place to place and remained a stranger everywhere. But he never ceased doing what he did best: stepping into avalanches and reviving our hearts. From Montreal and New York to the Greek island of Hydra, Leonard Cohen: The Man Who Saw the Angels Fall follows the singer's cosmopolitan life and examines his perpetual dialogues with God, with himself, and with hotel rooms. After more than two decades of research, Christophe Lebold, who spent time with the poet in Los Angeles, delivers a stimulating analysis of Cohen's life and art. Gracefully blending biography and essay, he interrogates the mission Cohen set out for himself: to show us that darkness is just the flip side of light.
State Law 2009/16 regulating the use of mobile phones in the school environment
This book is the result of an academic study that addresses a contemporary issue that deserves critical attention when it comes to mobile technologies in the context of the knowledge society. The creation of laws to direct how technological resources should be used in the classroom has generated conflict and varied interpretations by educators. The truth is that the use of technological resources, especially so-called mobile devices such as mobile phones, creates impasses, concerns and challenges for schools when it comes to using these devices as pedagogical support in the teaching/learning process. It's a challenging and thought-provoking issue that cannot fail to be discussed by education professionals who are responsible for training the new generations of the digital age.
Analysis of Construction Waste Management
The aim of this study was to evaluate the procedures and stages of solid construction waste (SW) management in the municipality of Coremas-PB, as well as its correct disposal. Observations and photographic records were taken of the main construction projects underway in the city, in order to verify the handling and packaging of construction waste in these buildings. Bibliographical research was used to present the legal and regulatory aspects currently in force in Brazil, in the state of Para穩ba and especially in the municipality in question. The management of this waste was also evaluated, considering the stages of storage and packaging, transportation, final disposal, reduction, reuse and recycling, some of which were found to be inadequate. This is a city in which the processes of reducing, recycling and reusing this waste are not widely disseminated or practiced, despite their essential nature. Added to this is the difficulty in accessing recycling plants, of which there is only one in the state of Para穩ba, located in Jo瓊o Pessoa, thus hindering the recycling process due to its economic unfeasibility.
Evaluation of Environmental Management Policies
The aim of this research was to analyze the legal frameworks related to environmental management in the municipality of Pombal-PB, checking their effectiveness in promoting environmental health. To this end, the following methodological steps were taken: gathering data and information from public and accessible sources, such as government databases, institutional websites, annual reports and official documents; characterizing the municipality's environmental management; and calculating the Local Environmental Management Index (IGAL) and the Environmental Health Index (ISA). Based on the results determined, it was found that the municipality has a suitable structure for developing and optimizing local environmental management, with the existence of specific bodies to deal with environmental issues, as well as regulatory resources and management tools aimed at preserving the environment. The result of the Local Environmental Management Index placed the municipality in the medium level of implementation of environmental management instruments, and the resulting value of the Environmental Health Index was in the medium health class.
Identifying Environmental Impacts at the Dump
The aim of this study was to identify the environmental impacts of the open dump in the municipality of Caic籀-RN in order to propose mitigation and compensation measures. The methodology used to carry out this work was based on bibliographical research, field visits, photographic records, satellite images, software and the use of specific methodologies from the bibliography that are fundamental for assessing environmental impacts: the checklist method, the ad hoc method and the interaction matrix. Through the interaction matrix in the operation, decommissioning and closure phases between the activities and the environmental components, it was possible to determine that the physical, biotic and anthropic environments suffered significant impacts, with 51 impacts being identified. The most significant impacts were the inadequate disposal of solid waste and the burning of garbage. Among the main measures indicated were the construction of a sanitary landfill as an appropriate solid waste disposal measure, as well as not burning the waste until the system is decommissioned.

Correlation between Body Adiposity Index and Body Mass
The use of anthropometry has been identified as the most appropriate parameter in physical assessment and is fundamental to helping Physical Education professionals diagnose body composition. There are various techniques and methods for assessing body fat, but some require specific equipment which is often expensive and unsuitable for any environment. Recently, the Body Adiposity Index (BAI) was introduced with the aim of estimating body fat percentage in a practical way, using only hip circumference and height measurements. This index is also an alternative method to the Body Mass Index (BMI) for identifying body composition. The importance given to measurements has been reinforced at all ages, especially with regard to body dimensions that can reflect the state of health of an individual or a certain population. For this reason, we are trying to elucidate the two indicators so that we can highlight the benefits of both and better identify the most accurate index at the time of physical assessment.

Language and communication in the Spanish of health care
The work is proposed as an approach to the language of medicine and health in the Spanish-Italian direction. The study begins by addressing the importance of defining, first of all, health in the context of languages for specific purposes, taking into consideration both the thematic components that identify it and its communicative dimension, which is based on the level of the participants and the communicative purposes (expert-expert communication; expert-semi-expert communication; expert-layman communication). Once Spanish has been described in the framework of languages for specific purposes, we move on to the analysis of its defining features at the lexical level, at the morphosyntactic level and at the pragmatic-discursive level. The following chapters present the ONCO_ESP_IT corpus and glossary of terminology containing texts and slogans pertaining to the field of oncology, which can be a useful tool for an audience of patients, family members, health professionals, in short, users of this specialty language. The volume is aimed at students who wish to specialize in health Spanish, as well as teachers and researchers of language and translation as a tool for metalinguistic reflection. We also hope that the contents can be of use to the educational demand of the lay public.
Blues Mamas and Broadway Belters
In Blues Mamas and Broadway Belters, songwriter, scholar, and dramatist Masi Asare explores the singing practice of black women singers in US musical theatre between 1900 and 1970. Asare shows how a vanguard of black women singers including Gertrude "Ma" Rainey, Bessie Smith, Ethel Waters, Pearl Bailey, Juanita Hall, Lena Horne, Eartha Kitt, Diahann Carroll, and Leslie Uggams created a lineage of highly trained and effective voice teachers whose sound and vocal techniques continue to be heard today. Challenging pervasive narratives that these and other black women possessed "untrained" voices, Asare theorizes singing as a form of sonic citational practice-how the sound of the teacher's voice lives on in the student's singing. From vaudeville-blues shouters, black torch singers, and character actresses to nightclub vocalists and Broadway glamour girls, Asare locates black women of the musical stage in the context of historical voice pedagogy. She invites readers not only to study these singers, but to study with them-taking seriously what they and their contemporaries have taught about the voice. Ultimately, Asare speaks to the need to feel and hear the racial history in contemporary musical theatre.

Training in alcohol and other drugs
Mental health care in Brazil is undergoing transformations, with the implementation of the Psychosocial Care Centre (CAPS), which represents the axis of the psychosocial network, replacing the hospital-centric model. As a consequence of the transformation of this model, it was necessary to review the training of CAPS professionals, since there is a notorious lack of continuing education in the field of mental health. The aim was therefore to assess the effectiveness of the training of professionals working in the Caps who had completed the refresher course on drugs.
