Wendy Carlos is one of the most influential electronic musicians of the 20th century, whose ground breaking LP, Switched-On Bach, was pivotal in elevating the Moog synthesizer to iconic status. At the same time, her highly evocative score for Stanley Kubrick's film, A Clockwork Orange, redefined the sound of electronic music for a generation of popular musicians in the US and Europe. Known in particular for her adventurous sonic re-imaginings of the music of classical composers from Bach to Beethoven, it is often forgotten that Carlos was also an accomplished composer in her own right, whose original work on albums such as Sonic Seasonings, Digital Moonscapes and Beauty In The Beast deserves equal recognition for its progressive compositional innovations and sound design techniques. With the aim of addressing this imbalance, this book offers a detailed track-by-track survey of all Carlos's unique album releases from Switched-On Bach to Tales of Heaven And Hell, placing each recording in context in relation to musical influences, technology and thematic concepts, as well as providing many analytical pointers to assist the listener in navigating her classically influenced musical aesthetic. To provide a fully rounded picture the last section of the book considers a number of Carlos's miscellaneous one-off projects and evaluates the remastered editions of her earlier LPs released on the East Side Digital label during the early 2000s.
Analysis of Solid Health Service Waste Management
The aim of the study was to investigate waste collection, treatment and disposal practices in this unit, considering technical, regulatory and environmental aspects in an Emergency Care Unit located in Pombal, Para穩ba. To this end, an exploratory-descriptive study was carried out, supported by bibliographic and field research techniques, in which we sought to observe, analyze, correlate and describe events or phenomena, including their variables, without manipulating them, through data collection. The results revealed challenges and opportunities in the management of healthcare waste in emergency care settings. The research offers valuable insights for improving waste management strategies at this facility, contributing to the safety of health professionals, public health and environmental preservation. It was identified that the establishment evaluated has a specific plan, focusing on the management of solid waste from health services, in addition to complying with health rules made available in legislation.

The aim of this book was to design a vehicle suitable for use by people with special needs, specifically wheelchair users, who visit or want to get to know the area used for environmental preservation, focusing on the origin of life of the sea turtles that lay their eggs there. The idea was based on the aspect of sustainability and accessibility, using Portal Brasil, which deals legally with the subject, as a point of support. According to Machado (2005), the defence of sustainable development will shape the development of the research. To build the project, it was necessary to contextualise the TAMAR Project, conceptualise accessibility, define sustainability and the legal framework that makes it up. The project was designed to build an articulated chair at a reduced cost, using material from auctions, scrap metal and discards, with the aim of using it in the TAMAR Project in the state of Esp穩rito Santo. In the course of this work, a suggestion will be made for using parts from seized vehicles that have not been recovered, which are in a state of scrap in DETRAN-accredited yards.

The aim of this work was to recognize the economic importance of the fruit pulp processing unit for the beneficiaries of the Po癟os community and, in addition to establishing criteria for evaluating the income of those associated with the activity studied, it will also promote an analysis of the improvements that have led to environmental preservation in line with international standards, as well as identifying and seeking to understand determining factors for improving production and raising income in the community, possibilities for positive changes resulting from the installation of the processing unit. The theories of Solidarity Economy, Cooperativism and its trends are used, as well as the conceptualization of the semi-arid territory of Northeast Brazil. The methodology of this study adopted an inductive and explanatory approach, using a bibliographic survey. It took place in a community that already has a fruit pulp processing unit set up in an associative system. Data was collected using a pre-prepared questionnaire, together with interviews with the association's representatives, and access was also gained to the association's financial and accounting data.

Kinetics of Fruit Transportation by Road
Research estimates that up to 40% of agricultural production is lost in the post-harvest stages. This study analyzes the influence of corrugated cardboard and EPS packaging in protecting mangoes from the effects of vibration during road transportation. Compression tests were carried out on the packaging and its materials, where it was found that the cardboard packaging has greater resistance than the EPS packaging, 7058N to 2972N. The packages containing mangoes of two varieties, Tommy and Palmer, were subjected to vibration at a frequency of 30 Hz and an amplitude of 0.86 mm for a period of seven hours on a vibrating table built for this purpose. After this, the mangoes were stored in an environment with a temperature of 22簞C and relative humidity of approximately 40% for a period of 15 days. The mangoes were analyzed using absorbance, firmness, soluble solids and mass loss tests on day zero and every five days, checking for damage and any loss of fruit quality. The results of all the tests showed that there was a tendency for cardboard packaging to offer greater protection to the fruit when compared to EPS packaging.

Music and Musicians in Late Mughal India
Based on a vast, virtually unstudied archive of Indian writings alongside visual sources, this book presents the first history of music and musicians in late Mughal India c.1748-1858 and takes the lives of nine musicians as entry points into six prominent types of writing on music in Persian, Brajbhasha, Urdu and English, moving from Delhi to Lucknow, Hyderabad, Jaipur and among the British. It shows how a key Mughal cultural field responded to the political, economic and social upheaval of the transition to British rule, while addressing a central philosophical question: can we ever recapture the ephemeral experience of music once the performance is over? The focus group study provides important insights into different perspectives on the purpose of comprehensive schools and their implications for the search for a civic school.
Accounting Expertise in the context of Labour Justice
The purpose of this study was to analyse the effects of the quality of expert accounting reports on the adequate provision of justice, in order to ascertain whether this quality is in fact a decisive element in resolving conflicts. In order to achieve the proposed objective, a set of three reports were initially collected through photocopies, through which we sought to identify the level of quality of these reports as well as their effects on the procedural process. Subsequently, a total of 50 questionnaires were administered to compare the opinions of magistrates and court staff regarding the quality of expert reports. As a result, content analysis revealed that: a) the reports presented to the Labour Court predominate over the liquidation phases of the judgement; b) in practice, the Magistrate does not require the professional to be qualified with the CRC, even if he or she carries out the activity of accounting expertise. Finally, it can be concluded that the quality of expert accounting reports is a fundamental element in resolving conflicts, especially in terms of the principle of procedural speed.

Early nineteenth-century composers, publishers and writers evolved influential ideals of Beethoven's symphonies as untouchable masterpieces. Meanwhile, many and various arrangements of symphonies, principally for amateur performers, supported diverse and 'hands-on' cultivation of the same works. Now mostly forgotten, these arrangements served a vital function in nineteenth-century musical life, extending works' meanings and reach, especially to women in the home. This book places domestic music-making back into the history of the classical symphony. It investigates a largely untapped wealth of early nineteenth-century arrangements of symphonies by Beethoven - for piano, string quartet, mixed quintet and other ensembles. The study focuses on three key agents in the nineteenth-century culture of musical arrangement: arrangers, publishers and performers. Using Facebook to teach maths
This paper presents research carried out at the Tia Mireta Municipal School in the municipality of Santa Rosa do Tocantins. It is an investigation into the use of Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DICT) for learning maths, specifically Facebook. This work aims to investigate the process of teaching and learning maths via social networks, especially Facebook. It was motivated by the fact that it is a social network that is widely accessed by young people. Questionnaires were administered to three primary school teachers. The aim was to research: Do teachers at the Tia Mireta Municipal School in the municipality of Santa Rosa (TO) use Facebook to teach maths? The analysis of the questionnaires showed that the use of these tools for learning maths can make learning motivating, but that the majority of teachers at this school do not use them, reflecting the lack of continuing training courses in the use of technology.

Throughout medieval Europe, male and female religious communities attached to churches, abbeys, and schools participated in devotional music making outside of the chanted liturgy. Newly collating over 400 songs from primary sources, this book reveals the role of Latin refrains and refrain songs in the musical lives of religious communities by employing novel interdisciplinary and analytical approaches to the study of medieval song. Through interpretive frameworks focused on time and temporality, performance, memory, inscription, and language, each chapter offers an original perspective on how refrains were created, transmitted, and performed. Arguing for the Latin refrain's significance as a marker of form and meaning, this book identifies it as a tool that communities used to negotiate their lived experiences of liturgical and calendrical time; to confirm their communal identity and belonging to song communities; and to navigate relationships between Latin and vernacular song and dance that emerge within their multilingual contexts.

The concept of subjectivity is one of the most popular in recent scholarly accounts of music; it is also one of the obscurest and most ill-defined. Multifaceted and hard to pin down, subjectivity nevertheless serves an important, if not indispensable purpose, underpinning various assertions made about music and its effect on us. We may not be exactly sure what subjectivity is, but much of the reception of Western music over the last two centuries is premised upon it. Music, Subjectivity, and Schumann offers a critical examination of the notion of musical subjectivity and the first extended account of its applicability to one of the composers with whom it is most closely associated. Adopting a fluid and multivalent approach to a topic situated at the intersection of musicology, philosophy, literature, and cultural history, it seeks to provide a critical refinement of this idea and to elucidate both its importance and limits.
Samba as a sign of cultural identity in Brazilian Popular Music
Samba, the musical language that represents Afro-Brazilian culture, was inscribed in history as a sign of Brazilian identity in the 1930s through a mythical imaginary and an economic policy. This study analyses the emergence of Samba in the city of Rio de Janeiro and its incorporation into the history of cultural production in Brazil, as well as its inscription as a cultural commodity and the political imaginary of the 1930s. Despite representing Brazil internationally, Afro-Brazilian culture was only effectively incorporated as part of the nation's memory and identity through affirmative action policies from the 1970s onwards. Burnout Syndrome in Nurses
Burnout is a three-dimensional syndrome resulting from the exercise of a professional activity. Nurses, in particular, are considered a group susceptible to developing this syndrome. The presence of burnout is a significant concern in the health sector, as it can have a negative impact on the quality of care provided to users. Health professionals, particularly emergency room nurses, regularly have to manage stressful situations, which can result in a decrease in performance, responsiveness and a compromise in the quality of care provided. This study aims to: a) Characterize the sociodemographic and professional profile of the sample; b) Identify the level of burnout perceived by nurses in the Medical-Surgical Emergency Department in a northern region of Portugal; c) Analyze the level of the different dimensions of burnout in the sample under study; d) Analyze the relationship between the mean scores of the burnout dimensions and the sociodemographic and professional variables.

Thinkers like W. E. B. Du Bois and Paul Gilroy have long championed sound as an affective register of Black subjectivity, particularly in the African Atlantic. Prior studies in this vein focus on Anglophone or Caribbean contexts, a tendency that furthers Mexico's marginalization within narratives of the Black and African diaspora and mutes Afro-descendant traditions that date back to the sixteenth century. Indeed, the New Spanish archive contains whispers of the region's Black sound cultures, including monetary records for the voices of enslaved singers and representations of Black music in casta paintings. Despite such evidence, it is difficult to attend fully to these subaltern voices, for the cultural filters of the lettered elite often mute or misinterpret non-European sounds. Amplifications of Black Sound from Colonial Mexico is the first extensive study of Afro-descendant sonorities in New Spain or elsewhere in colonial Latin America. In this context, it attends to Black sounds through a framework that remixes Jacques Derrida's reading of the ear's anatomy with theories like Gilroy's lower frequencies or Fred Moten's phonic materiality. Sarah Finley's aim is to unsettle the divide between self and other so the auditory archive might emerge as a polyphonic record that exceeds dichotomies of sounding object / listening subject. Data from scientific articles and books was used for the bibliographical review and the field study, with daily monitoring and updating of the content of the fanpage of F獺brica de Vassouras Ecol籀gicas, a small company in the city of Campos dos Goytacazes. The results were significant and considerable, with an increase of almost 50% in reach and good results in sales. Impacts of shift work
The ways in which work is organised have increased and become more structured over time in order to satisfy the needs of social groups. With the growing search for material comfort combined with the need for long, uninterrupted working hours in the energy production, transport and basic health and safety services sectors, the famous "24-hour society" has emerged. As a justification for this trend towards continuous production, a case study was carried out at Transpetro S.A., with the aim of identifying the characteristics of the operating technicians at the Cabi繳nas Terminal (TECAB), the impacts generated by shift work, as well as identifying the motivating and stress factors related to work regimes.
