Two Wheels, One Click
The bikes are there. On any street, in any corner. They rest in the park, rust in the rain, take the worker to the factory, contort under the acrobat, climb mountains, or break speed records. Each one has a story, and if the camera peeks out, we can learn a little about them. About their relationship with whoever rides them, about how the passage of time affects them, about how they lose their balance. "Two wheels, One click" is a book that was created on the streets of various cities around the world. When the two eyes of a journalist who were away from his job met with the two wheels that lighten the pace of the people. A few dozen bicycles from Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Mayapur were chosen for this volume. Dozens of bicycles that say something about the culture of each of these Asian cities, so close, so different.

How to Make Money as a Real Estate Photographer
My name is Phil, and I am a real estate photographer. I actually began my journey in the real estate industry in the year 2000, right after graduating high school. From being a full-time agent to working on real estate teams, processing short sales, and working as an office administrator, I have been involved in every aspect of real estate. Somehow, I landed in full-time photography, drone operation, and videography. Since I was a child, my love has been for music and anything else that allowed me to be creative. So when I was introduced to the concept of photography as used in real estate in 2010, I was utterly intrigued. That year, I worked as a listing coordinator and glorified receptionist for Coldwell Banker in Tampa, FL. I loved the agents and staff that I worked with, but the pay was bad, and the room for long term growth was limited. Plus, it wasn't fascinating, and I was bored out of my mind. I felt like I was in Groundhog Day with Bill Murray. In fact, I even wrote a song about it (shameless plug - it's on one of my YouTube channels). Looking for a way to supplement my income, I found a job writing real estate descriptions on Fiverr. The person posting the job was also named Phil, and we struck up a relationship immediately. One day I noticed the signature line of his email said, "real estate photographer." I asked him if he could tell me more about that, and...the rest is history. My life changed the day I met Phil. In fact, I dedicate this book to him because he changed my life and has inspired me to do the same for others. I came to the table with a significant amount of experience in this field, but he introduced me to a whole different aspect. Once I realized it existed, it just clicked! The knowledge and experience he shared with me have been a gift, almost like a superhero ability. To this day, we remain very close friends. I want to share this gift with as many other people as possible. Since high school, I have always been searching for additional income streams. MLMs were very attractive to me, even selling weird stuff (I did door-to-door sales of knives, for example) - just anything that's kinda out of the box. I am incredibly gullible, too. I'll believe whatever sales pitch is given to me and tell myself, "I can do that!" Up until this point, nothing I tried really worked. I've wasted a ton of time and money just trying to find ways to make money. But I am very excited and proud to say that real estate photography worked for me! I can also assure you that I came into this with ZERO photography experience. To this day, I will not claim to be a high tech guru or gearhead or extremely knowledgeable about photography's inner workings. I am none of these things. But what I have been taught has given me all the tools needed to succeed in this job. Which leads me to a question...what is success? I think it's something different for everyone. But for me, it meant having a job that I enjoyed, being able to be creative, and the ability to provide for my family. For you, success could look different. But I can confidently say that if you are kind, likable, willing to learn, and have an interest in photography, you can do this! It's crazy, but I have met photographers who are not kind, not good at their job, unprofessional, and they still make a living doing this. It is frustrating to run across these individuals because it's easy to see the untapped potential they are unwilling to access. Whether you'd like to work part-time, have a flexible schedule, make good money, carve out your own empire, and put the pedal to the metal, I will go over several available possibilities. Ultimately, the purpose of this book is to illustrate my journey of becoming a real estate photographer, what life is like in this industry, and, hopefully, to help you discover if it's what you want to do - and how to do it.

Maya Ruins Revisited
This stunning, substantial volume documents William Frej's forty-five year search for remote Maya sites primarily in Guatemala and Mexico, inspired in large part by his discovery of the work of German-Austrian explorer Teobert Maler, who photographed them in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Many of Frej's magnificent photographs are juxtaposed here with historic photographs taken by Maler, and reveal the changes in the landscape that have occurred in the intervening century. This unique pairing of archival material with current imagery of the same locations will be a significant addition to the literature on this ancient civilization that continues to captivate scholars and general readers alike. The book provides extended captions for all of the photographs, including their historical context in relation to Maler's images, which are archived at the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology at Harvard University, the Ibero-American Institute in Berlin, Brigham Young University, the University of New Mexico, and the Getty Museum in Los Angeles. The author's introduction covers the challenges of finding and photographing remote Maya sites. Alma Dur獺n-Merk and Stephan Merk contribute a biographical sketch of Teobert Maler, while Khristaan Villela addresses the historic role of photography as a tool for documenting and presenting the history of significant Maya sites. Jeremy Sabloff provides essential background on the Maya and their built environment, and a chronology of the principal periods of Maya culture. The book includes a listing of all the sites featured and their locations as well as two maps. Maya Ruins Revisited offers an engaging and stimulating visual journey to many remote and seldom-seen Maya sites, and also will serve as valuable documentation of places that are rapidly being overcome by forces of nature and man.

By including information surrounding the use of the urinal, such as the meal eaten in a restaurant, the score of a game at a sporting event, or the miles travelled since his last pee break while driving; Fouhy adds another layer to the experience beyond just a standard visit to the loo. This book is full of fun, whimsy and takes a tongue-and-cheek look behind the closed doors of bathrooms. The second book from Brian, this collection of photography still maintains that distinct observational style of the artist.

Ernst Haas
The first book on master photographer Ernst Haas's work dedicated to both his classic and newly discovered New York City color photographs of the 1950s and 60s. Ernst Haas's color works reveal the photographer's remarkable genius and remind us on every page why we love New York. When Haas moved from Vienna to New York City in 1951, he left behind a war-torn continent and a career producing black-and-white images. For Haas, the new medium of color photography was the only way to capture a city pulsing with energy and humanity. These images demonstrate Haas's tremendous virtuosity and confidence with Kodachrome film and the technical challenges of color printing. Unparalleled in their depth and richness of color, brimming with lyricism and dramatic tension, these images reveal a photographer at the height of his career.
Lucas Blalock: Oar or Ore
A new form of still life: the first full survey of Lucas Blalock's humorous and mesmerizing manipulated photographsThe acclaimed New York-based photographer Lucas Blalock (born 1978) creates surreal still lifes, often digitally manipulated. From bundles of raw hot dogs to watermelons smothered by plastic wrap to cactus leaves duplicated many times over, Blalock's eye-catching tableaux reveal more bizarre details the longer one looks. The intentionally ham-fisted photographic manipulations are created in Photoshop after Blalock shoots with a large-format camera on film and then scans the images. The result is a layered network of colorful visual references, careening from the tragicomic to the absurd as they depict everyday objects in unfamiliar contexts. Underlying all of his work is Blalock's eagerness to revel in the inherent failure connected to any attempt to revive the avant-garde. The artist's first full survey, this publication accompanies a solo exhibition at the Museum Kurhaus Kleve in Germany. The exhibit's curator, Susanne Figner, provides commentary alongside essays by professor Russell Ferguson, Institute of Contemporary Art LA curator Jamillah James and Museum of Modern Art curatorial assistant Phil Taylor. The book is available in three different colors.
Karl Blossfeldt: Variations
How Karl Blossfeldt's plant photographs were disseminated in the popular media of the time, from pattern books to magazine spreadsIn the 1890s, the Berlin artist, sculptor and teacher Karl Blossfeldt (1865-1932) started to photograph plants, seeds and other illustrative material from nature for the purpose of teaching his students about the patterns and designs found in natural forms. His close-ups of the smallest plant parts, magnified up to 30 times their natural size, startle us as they dramatically highlight the geometrical and sculptural properties of plants. Published in 1928, his first collection of photographs, Urformen der Kunst (later translated into English as Art Forms in Nature) became an international bestseller and remains one of the most significant photobooks of the 20th century. Karl Blossfeldt: Variations is the first monograph to examine the reception of Blossfeldt's work. Drawing on unpublished materials, it analyzes the photographs' replication in teaching materials, pattern books, art books and in the pages of the illustrated press. The six sections of the book trace the paths that Blossfeldt's legendary plant motifs took in their incarnations as specimens, illustrations, patterns, analogues, models and abstractions from 1890 to 1945. Thematic contemporary appraisals illustrating the rediscovery of Blossfeldt's motifs in design and architecture over the past 20 years complement this new perspective on the beloved German photographer.

The Masked Project
This is not about a virus. This is about us.The Masked Project presents 100 portraits taken by photographer Ashley Murphy during the spring 2020 surge of COVID-19. From behind cotton and polypropylene, stars and grommets, leather and paisley, feathers and studs, eyes unmask worlds about personhood and pandemic life. From a safe distance, we emerge bold and brave, known and remembered.
Walker Evans
A magisterial study of celebrated photographer Walker Evans Walker Evans (1903-75) was a great American artist photographing people and places in the United States in unforgettable ways. He is known for his work for the Farm Security Administration, addressing the Great Depression, but what he actually saw was the diversity of people and the damage of the long Civil War. In Walker Evans, renowned art historian Svetlana Alpers explores how Evans made his distinctive photographs. Delving into a lavish selection of Evans's work, Alpers uncovers rich parallels between his creative approach and those of numerous literary and cultural figures, locating Evans within the wide context of a truly international circle. Alpers demonstrates that Evans's practice relied on his camera choices and willingness to edit multiple versions of a shot, as well as his keen eye and his distant straight-on view of visual objects. Illustrating the vital role of Evans's dual love of text and images, Alpers places his writings in conversation with his photographs. She brings his techniques into dialogue with the work of a global cast of important artists--from Flaubert and Baudelaire to Elizabeth Bishop and William Faulkner--underscoring how Evans's travels abroad in such places as France and Cuba, along with his expansive literary and artistic tastes, informed his quintessentially American photographic style. A magisterial account of a great twentieth-century artist, Walker Evans urges us to look anew at the act of seeing the world--to reconsider how Evans saw his subjects, how he saw his photographs, and how we can see his images as if for the first time.
The ’Essential’ New York (My Life and Travels During the Covid-19 Pandemic)
On March 18th, 2020, I went from being a Transit Worker to an 'Essential' Worker. I received in the mail a letter that we are to carry with us in case New York goes on curfew. If stopped by police, it states 'This employee is necessary for the operation and/or maintenance of the transportation system, an essential service.' Every night, I mask up, wash my hands, carry hand sanitizer and wipes to do what was once so routine... take the subway to work. When I arrived in Manhattan, the absence of people shook me to the core. This city was built for massive amounts of pedestrian traffic... vanished. Cars, trucks and buses, fighting for forward progress... gone. Never seen anything like that before. I took it upon myself to document this historical time this country must endure. These pictures will show for future generations how New Yorkers of 2020 survived by doing what was expected of them. This book is for all the people who made the same trek through this Covid-19 minefield so we could be of service of our city.
The Case for Spirit Photography
"Doyle's modesty of language conceals a profound tolerance of the human complexity"-John Le Carr矇 "Every Writer owes something to Holmes." -T.S. EliotWhile the controversy of Psychic Photography was gripping the early 20th Century United Kingdom, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle set out to investigate the most notable cases. In The Case for Spirit Photography, he aimed to defend the validity of capturing images of spirits with a camera. The spectacle of spirit photography had become popular in the late 19th Century, but by the 1920's The Crewe Circle, an infamous English spiritualist group had become the center of a national controversy attacking spirit photography as a hoax.Doyle, a leader of the Spiritualist movement, wrote this investigation in defense of the group, and conjointly looks at other cases of supernatural incidences. As we face current public figures dismissive of empirical scientific evidence, this is a fascinating look at the intrigue of conviction. As the writer of one of fictions most colorful and abiding detectives, Doyle's deductions in The Case for Spirit Photography are enthralling. With an eye-catching new cover, and professionally typeset manuscript, this edition of The Case is both modern and readable.

E-Mails from India,
Fifteen years ago, for the very first time, my husband David and I stood at the opposite ends of the travel pole bucket list. India was his long unfulfilled destination desire and the last place on earth I had ever wanted to experience. After twenty years of life and travel compatibility, with all other continents and subcontinents sampled or explored, I was out of reasons and excuses for stuffing this adventure to the bottom of the destination list. I'm not sure if my "okay I'll go to India" came from a burst of courage and resolve as if faced with a painful and risky, yet inevitable surgical procedure, or capitulation in a weak moment, when a parent gets talked into pleasing a child against her better judgment. Nevertheless, there I was, one moment swept into a spin of negotiations for tolerable travel terms, the next on my way to India for a month.
A Glister of Leaves
Between 31 March and 13 May, 2020, Giles Watson went into self-isolation during the Covid-19 outbreak, and sought mental and spiritual refreshment in memories of some of his most beloved landscapes. Illustrated with photographs from his years in England, A Glister of Leaves revisits the megalithic monuments, woodlands and chalk downlands of southern Oxfordshire, recalls encounters with exquisite insects, and celebrates the gifts of solitude and quiet observation. The poems in this collection will revive the spirits of all who seek solace in the natural world during times of crisis.
A day in the sunflowers
The sunflower fields of the 806 acre Draper Wildlife Management Area near McConnells, SC are an annual pilgrimage and delight for local photographers and models. All of whom come together with fellow creatives trying to compose the best images possible. They come knowing that is not a journey for the faint hearted as summer temps reach into the upper 90's and the threat of storm, heat exhaustion and lack of shade are very real. For a few weeks every summer you can find at least 20 acres of bright yellow happiness blooming from the parched red Carolina soil. This photo book details some of the more impressive images I have taken over the years and the people who helped to create them. - Louis Jones

Sonoran Skies Sonoran Eyes
Ferney started experimenting with her first camera nearly seven decades ago. The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg- her country of origin- beckoned to be photographed. Forests, rivers, streams and lakes provided the perfect habitat for abundant wildlife. After moving to the United States, on to Southeast Asia and back to the US, subjects and vantage points changed dramatically. However, her passion for nature, wildlife and photography is stronger than ever since moving to Arizona many years ago. Her numerous photos selected by Arizona Highways Magazine are a testament to her talent.
In My Father’s Shadow
Channeling the ideas and vision of her father, architect and artist Hamidur Rahman, In My Father's Shadow chronicles Hamidur's work and inspiration in designing the monument "Shahid Minar" which is known in Bangladesh as a symbol of hope. It additionally explores his work of oil paintings and how that inspired the author to keep that creative spirit alive in her own work in art and poetry. In My Father's Shadow serves to inspire all of us to use our unique vision to make tragedy into hope, to take hurt into inspiration, to take a dark world and make it a brighter place.
Nest
How do we decide which animals are family and which are food? Why are we surprised to see a rooster gazing out the kitchen window or a hen studying herself in the mirror? After all, chickens are present in many homes, as flesh and eggs, but not as individuals with personalities of their own. In early 2017, photographer Janet Holmes met a hen suffering from reproductive illness at the Wild Bird Fund in New York City, where she volunteered as a caregiver. During her search to find a permanent home for the hen after she was discharged from the Fund's clinic, Janet Holmes discovered a network of people (primarily women) who turn their homes into sanctuaries for rescued chickens. She decided to make portraits of the chickens and their rescuers to honour both the birds who had suffered so much before their rescue and the people who invested so much love, time, and money caring for them.
Skater Girls
Jenny Sampson's follow-up to her acclaimed collection of tintype skateboarder portraits (Skaters, Daylight 2017) focuses on female skateboarders. Although historically a male-dominated sport, there have always been girls in the skate- boarding landscape. By turning her lens on these members of the community all over California, Washington and Oregon, Sampson hopes to increase visibility and honor these girls, young and older, who have been breaking down this gender wall with their skater girl power.
'93 Til
With this year's 2021 Summer Olympics hosted in Tokyo, Japan, skateboarding will make its Olympic debut; augmenting both park and street competitions for men and women. As this book is a culmination and photographic collection of the past three decade's growth of skateboarding throughout the US focusing in on the pivotal decade of the 1990s, the addition of this sport in the summer's upcoming games is of considerable relevance to the skateboarding pioneers featured in this work. To be a skateboarder today is a much different experience than it was for much of the 1990s. The photographs, quotes, and anecdotal text in '93 til captures a time in skateboarding when making a livable income as a professional skater was a rare luxury and public understanding of skateboarding was at an all-time low. It was a time when skateboarding was searching for an identity, a time before Instagram and big corporate influences. Street skating was coming of age, testing its limitations and aligning itself with a new and innovative style of hip-hop culture that was emerging. Looking back, many skaters today feel as though the '90s were the golden years of skateboarding. '93 til is a captivating portal into a decade and a culture that is remembered with warmth and nostalgia. Much of the photography that Pete has unearthed for '93 til was buried in boxes for close to two decades and has never been seen or published before. The 230-page book also contains several timeless images from his years shooting for SLAP and Transworld Skateboarding Magazine that will be familiar to the initiated. In addition to his stunning action shots are plenty of portraits and unguarded, candid moments that span from the late '80s up through 2004. The book reveals a raw, unapologetic perspective of a world that no longer exists. Also included in the book alongside Pete's imagery are quotes and anecdotes from legends like Tony Hawk, Arto Saari, Jamie Thomas, Guy Mariano, Nyjah Huston, Geoff Rowley, Stevie Williams and others. Although still a working photographer, Pete moved on from his career in skate photography in 2004 and is currently living in Brooklyn.
