Good Dog
Whether a rescue or a show dog, a pedigree or a mutt, you can't help falling in love with Randal Ford's dog portraits, as each evokes the unparalleled bond we feel for our greatest companions. Randal Ford now focuses his portraiture lens on the one species that has been by our side for millennia: our best friend. Good Dog captures the warmth, humor, and unconditional love that is at the heart of every dog. From mutts beaming with charisma and charm to show dogs exuding grace and elegance, Ford's 150 dog portraits bring out the dog lover in all of us. With a compelling essay by W. Bruce Cameron, this warm, tender, playful, and heartfelt collection of dog portraits gives us a beautiful look into the lives of our most cherished companions. Proceeds from the sale of this book will benefit Emancipet. Since 1999, Emancipet has been on a mission to make veterinary care affordable and accessible for everyone. Secret Haywards Heath
Haywards Heath is a remarkable place with an intriguing history. Misguidedly characterised as 'large and quite amorphous', detailed inspection actually reveals a dynamic settlement that spread like a patchwork quilt in a distinctive pattern of development. It was coming of the the railway, bringing with it the county asylum and one of the country's largest cattle markets, which was the making of Haywards Heath. There is far more to the district than that, however. The town's standing buildings and the local place names hint in places at much earlier history: a deadly battle of the Civil War in 1642, two thriving medieval manors, and even travellers and traders on a Roman road. In this book local author Colin Manton takes the reader on an enlightening and entertaining journey through the town's illustrious past, delving beneath the surface to reveal dark deeds and strange tales with long-forgotten facts and amusing stories. Secret Haywards Heath lifts the lid on the hidden secrets that even most local people don't know.
Canada
In over 500 pictures, this volume shows the multifaceted wilderness of Canada. Canada borders the USA in the south and the Arctic Circle in the north. This results in a landscape diversity with endless forest areas in the south and ice and rock areas in the north, beyond the Arctic tree line. These include the Banff National Park in the Rocky Mountains, famous for its numerous lakes, and the Niagara Falls on the border with the USA. The metropolis Toronto, Vancouver on the west coast, as well as the French-speaking cities Montreal or Quebec and the capital Ottawa are included.
Norway
Norway is known for its mountains, glaciers, and deeply cut coastal fjords. Bergen, with its typical colorful wooden houses, is a popular starting point for boat trips into the dramatic Sognefjord. This book shows in almost 500 pictures the Scandinavian country in its scenic variety but also in its seasonal diversity. Snow, ice, and polar lights in winter, and the special light of the midnight sun in summer.
The Big Book of Pussy
From the time The Big Penis Book was published, readers anticipated The Big Book of Pussy. Granted, perhaps not the same readers, but the seed had been planted and the calls and letters began flowing in. Once they had that long-awaited book, some found themselves overwhelmed by the variety and abundance, as well as the sheer size of the book. As one reviewer wrote, "let's give credit to Amazon for...the strength of its packaging. Who wants a 2-ton pussy book being 'exposed' for the mailman...?" For those who worry that there can be too much of a good thing, we've made a pared down, "best of" edition of The Big Book of Pussy, a petite little kitten of a book that puts those in-your-face photos in proper perspective. Now you can follow the evolution of genital exposure with ease, through 100 years of photos with one thing in common: the exhibitionistic pleasure with which the models present their feminine pulchritude. And with over 150 photos--36 new to this book--of the pet we love to pet, no bothersome text to interrupt the flow, all in a package that won't stress the mailman's back, we just may have produced the perfect self-gifter of the year.
Reality, Curated
This book presents a selection of works from Valentina Loffredo's first and ongoing series "As for me, I'm very little". The photography plays on the tension between perfectly staged sets, composed through the use of geometry, blocks of colors and negative space and the constant, often ironic, presence of a little detail out of place. Through witty allusions, playful compositions and whimsical props, familiar elements take on different shapes, evolve and engage in a conversation about possibility. Fun, quirky and full of intrigue, Valentina Loffredo's work is wonderful to study and a great accompaniment to any art book collection.
The Big Penis Book
"Sirs" begins the missive from our imaginary correspondent. "It's not that I don't love your original Big Penis Book, but that, perhaps, I love it too much. I now become anxious leaving the house without it, and long business trips are simply torture. Couldn't you make a smaller, less obtrusive edition, still packed with men whose generative members measure over 8 inches, that doesn't form a suspiciously large bulge in my carry-on luggage? And while you're at it, could you make it highly affordable, since my pockets are as shallow as this premise?" Done! The Little Big Penis Book features over 150 massively endowed models from the 1940s through the '90s, including photos by Bob Mizer of AMG, David Hurles of Old Reliable, Rip Colt of Colt Studio, Craig Calvin Anderson of Sierra Domino, Hal Roth of Filmco, Jim Jaeger of Third World Studios, Falcon Studios, Mike Arlen, Fred Bisonnes, Carlos Quiroz, and Charles Hovland in a compact and inexpensive format. Photos come not just from the original overstuffed 384-page edition, but from subsequent Big Penis Calendars, meaning that 30% of the content is unique to this edition. Add a reduced text to make more room for the stunning black-and-white and color photos and how could anyone--big, small, or just right--ask for a better deal?

Matthew Porter: The Heights (Signed Edition)
"I was inspired by the way a car can steal the show. Think of iconic car chases in films--it's often about spectacle, and has little to do with advancing a narrative. And that's the way I think of these cars, as dead-end technologies, but also as high-performance machines which, for their audience, sought to reflect the spirit and attitudes of their time." --Matthew Porter Matthew Porter presents a portfolio of twenty-five images of old-school cars, captured in midair as they careen over city streets and highway intersections. Each photograph is a freeze-frame--a hypothetical film still from a pulp-fiction chase scene. The series seems, on one hand, to distill the essence of muscle-car Americana, a pop-cultural semaphore for the high-testosterone male persona. And yet, on the other, the subject--the "all-American" muscle car as antihero--is caught in an eternal state of suspended animation, while the various elements of the landscape in the background organize themselves around the edges of the frame. The resulting pictures are a hybrid of hyperreality and studied, topographic description, part bittersweet nostalgia and part ironic reinvention of a classic American trope.
Judy Glickman Lauder: Beyond the Shadows (Signed Edition)
"The photographs and stories in Beyond the Shadows are not just a reminder of how racism and anti-Semitism can foment violence and murder, but a warning for our uneasy present, when white nationalism and neo-Nazism are on the upswing. These stories are also a primer on how to stand up to prejudice, transcend tribalism and embrace our shared humanity."--Maurice Berger, The New York Times The extraordinary experiences of ordinary people--their suffering and their unimaginable bravery--are the subject of Judy Glickman Lauder's remarkable photographs. Beyond the Shadows responds to the mass murder of Jews during the Holocaust, while telling the uplifting story of how the citizens and leadership of Denmark, under occupation and at tremendous risk, defied the Third Reich to transport the country's Jews to safety in Sweden. Over the past thirty years Glickman Lauder has captured the intensity of the death camps in Germany, Poland, and Czechoslovakia in dark and expressive photographs, telling of a world turned upside down. In contrast, the redemptive and uplifting story of the "Danish exception" is told through portraits of Danish Jewish survivors and Danish rescuers. Over the course of a few intense weeks in 1943, the vast majority of Denmark's Jewish population, seven thousand people, along with nearly seven hundred non-Jewish spouses, were hidden in boats and carried across the ?resund to safety in Sweden. Denmark is the only nation in Western Europe that can claim the rescue of its Jewish population from the Holocaust. With texts by Holocaust scholars Michael Berenbaum and Judith S. Goldstein, recollections by Danish Jewish survivors, and a previously unpublished text by Elie Wiesel, written in response to this body of work, Beyond the Shadows demonstrates passionately what hate can lead to, and what can be done to stand in its path.

Photography and the Contemporary Cultural ConditionCommemorating the Present
In this book, Osborne demonstrates why and how photography as photography has survived and flourished since the rise of digital processes, when many anticipated its dissolution into a generalised system of audio-visual representations or its collapse under the relentless overload of digital imagery. He examines how photography embodies, contributes to, and even in effect critiques how the contemporary social world is now imagined, how it is made present and how the concept and the experience of the Present itself is produced. Osborne bases his discussions primarily in cultural studies and visual cultural studies. Through an analysis of different kinds of photographic work in distinct contexts, he demonstrates how aspects of photography that once appeared to make it vulnerable to redundancy turn out to be the basis of its survival and have been utilised by much important photographic work of the last three decades.
The Focal Press Companion to the Constructed Image in Contemporary Photography
This compendium examines the choices, construction, inclusions and exemptions, and expanded practices involved in the process of creating a photograph. Focusing on work created in the past twenty-five years, this volume is divided into sections that address a separate means of creating photographs as careful constructs: Directing Spaces, Constructing Places, Performing Space, Building Images, and Camera-less Images. Introduced by both a curator and a scholar, each section features contemporary artists in conversation with curators, critics, gallerists, artists, and art historians. The writings include narratives by the artist, writings on their work, and examinations of studio practices. This pioneering book is the first of its kind to explore this topic beyond those artists building sets to photograph.

Karlheinz Weinberger: Photographs
Unseen photos of rebels, outsiders, construction workers and more: celebrating the distinctive gay male gaze of Karlheinz Weinberger This landmark entry in the lifework of Z羹rich photographer Karlheinz Weinberger gathers more than 200 never-before-published vintage photographic prints that were rediscovered in 2017. This unique collection pairs images of Weinberger's most famous subjects, the "Halbstarke"--a loosely organized group of Swiss "rebels" in the late 1950s and early 1960s, carousing at local carnivals and on a camping trip--with a much more private side of Weinberger's oeuvre: solo portraits of men from the late 1950s through the mid-1970s, whom he invited into his makeshift studio in the rooms of the apartment he shared with his mother. The men in these portraits--construction workers, street vendors, bicycle messengers, outsiders--span a spectrum of fully clothed, arms-crossed poses to campy and flirtatious, fully nude and reclined, while others mimic art historical postures. All of these images, though, reveal a palpable tenderness between photographer and subject, offering an expansive, uncritical take on the male form in an era when being photographed was not the casual, ubiquitous record it is today. Though not a professional photographer (he worked as a warehouse stock manager), Weinberger captured his subjects with a distinctly gay male gaze, both carnal and artistic, and this collection is certain to earn his work a larger following and appreciation. Born in 1921, Karlheinz Weinberger was a Swiss photographer whose work predominantly explored outsider cultures. Between 1943 and 1967 Weinberger published photos of male workers, sportsmen and bikers in the gay magazine Der Kreis under the pseudonym of "Jim." In the late '50s and early '60s he concentrated on Swiss rock 'n' roll youth, whom he photographed with both tenderness and a hint of irony. Weinberger placed little emphasis on exhibiting his work; his first comprehensive show took place only in 2000, six years before his death.

Little London Adventures and SurreptitiousCity
The City of London has been a major settlement for two millennia. It became the epicentre of trading with the world as long ago as the Roman invasion - being established as an outpost along the River Thames in AD47. Even today, time hasn't in any way diminished its global influence. Now, artist and photographer, Clare Newton, explores the City's secretive treasures, but rather than take you on a journey portrayed with traditional photography, she creates the artistry of images through long exposures combined with a technique called 'shutter-dragging', accentuating the past where all that's left is a ghostly residue. The City of London has been a major settlement for two millennia. It became the epicentre of trading with the world as long ago as the Roman invasion - being established as an outpost along the River Thames in AD47. Even today, time hasn't in any way diminished its global influence. City of London appointed its own Lord Mayor of London, Henry Fitz-Ailwin de Londonestone, who served for 24 terms between 1189-1212. It has a different council structure from authorities in the rest of the country - keeping historical traditions which did not apply elsewhere - and its own police force is separate from the Metropolitan Police, who serve the rest of the capital. On formal occasions, upon entering the City, the Queen is presented with the City's pearl-encrusted Sword of State at Temple Bar by the Lord Mayor as a symbol of the Monarch's overlordship. The City is made up of 25 small, self-governing areas, or Wards and 110 livery companies representing ancient and modern trades, otherwise known as Guilds. Two such Guilds, the Merchant Taylors (tailors) and Skinners (fur traders), both founded in 1327, had a fierce argument as to which should be Guild number 'six' and which Guild number 'seven' - a most important factor when it came to positioning their trades in the Lord Mayor's annual parade. The conflict eventually overflowed in 1484, resulting in many broken heads and requiring the incoming Mayor, Robert Billesden, to intervene and announce... "...that the Skinners be placed sixth in the order of precedence during the even-year date, whereas the Merchant Taylors be moved to sixth place on the odd-year date..." And so was coined Chaucer's phrase, "At sixes and sevens...". ...which worked fine for 522 years - until 2006, when a member of the Merchant Taylors became Lord Mayor and overruled the Skinners' precedence. Henceforth, however, the Skinners' and Merchant Taylors' continue with tradition (most important) and alternate their precedence each year. The City is used to a great many squabbles. art - commercefour artisan businesses grow in an old New Jersey industrial city
Over a period of eight years, Steve Riskind photographed four small businesses located in or near Paterson, New Jersey. These "artisan businesses" are small, rely on skilled crafts people, and all are family owned. They are a specialty textile firm, jewelry manufacturer, pipe organ builder and stained glass studio. Each chapter focuses on one of these businesses. Introductions to the chapters are based largely on Riskind's interviews with owners of the firms. In some cases additional research supplements the interviews.Following each introductory essay are approximately 20 photographs taken at the business. The goal in taking the photographs was to capture the intensity of workers engaging with the materials they use. These are not posed pictures showing workers holding products and smiling at the camera. Rather they are images of skilled artisans in the process of creation.

And, perhaps one of the most interesting: How exactly were his photos created?

The Artist has provided a "forward retrospective" of work that personifies a sense of exhilaration, power, joy and a "fascination of art". The work is at once original but also bears resemblance to his possible heroes: Pablo Picasso, Jean-Michel Basquait and Dostoevsky. This sketch book of a work is more the initial stages of the artist's work.
The Undersea Art of Indonesia
The Undersea Art of Indonesia by Charles Rawlings, Nuswanto Lobbu, and Leah Perez is the latest in a series of large format photographic underwater adventures penned by Charles et al. I own each one and thoroughly enjoy the amazement evident on first time reader's faces as they page through these marvelous volumes. As editor of the journal, American Conchologist, I have not only enjoyed and appreciated the photographic skills and adventurist spirit of Charles, but I have directly benefited over the years as he has provided me, and thus our readers, a plethora of high quality images of undersea life for use in the journal. Colors that leap off the page and images of minute alien-appearing organisms have been juxtaposed with first-time ever photographs of rare mollusks and camouflaged seashells in their natural environment. With this latest adventure and book, it seems Charles, Nus, and Leah have decided to draw the reader's attention to the art possible with skilled photography and the wonders of nature found in Indonesian waters. Each image belongs behind glass, framed, and mounted on an exhibition wall. One section of panoramic images in unbelievably clear water, another of coral reef fishes and their myriad of colors, another of close up images of brightly colored organisms small enough to fit several in a soup spoon, and finally a section where the colors and patterns win out over any identification of the exact subject matter -- underwater abstract art in nature. This is a marvelous celebration of the wonders of life and as readers we are lucky to have this opportunity to share the very best of what Charles and company discovered in countless hours of underwater photography. Thank you Charles, Nus, and Leah, I really look forward to sharing this newest volume of treasures and watching first time readers discover the beauty of your undersea world. Tom Thomas E.
