The New Cookbook for Athletes

Fred Shorts  著
Ingram 出版
2022/11/15 出版

Nobody pays quite as much attention to what they eat as a bodybuilder. The calories have to be right and macros have to be balanced, and we can't forget about the micros, either. Then there are the various diet philosophies that contend for the pole position - intermittent fasting, carbohydrate cycling, ketogenic, and flexible dieting, to name a few. Well, regardless of your preferences, these bodybuilding recipes will have you covered. You'll find a little bit of everything here to help make your meal prepping a success, from high-calorie and high-carb to low-carbohydrate and low-carbohydrate, fast and easy to more involved (and rewarding!). Oh and there's plenty of protein too, of course! Bodybuilding is a delicate balance between building muscle and burning fat. You need adequate calories to increase muscle mass, but you also need a caloric deficit to burn off stored fat. It sounds impossible, but it isn't. The secret? Basic math. Or, as it's referred to in the fitness world: the Energy Balance Equation. Simply put, the more muscle mass you have, and the more active you are, the more you need to eat. That's because the more lean muscle mass you have, the more energy (thanks, food!) it takes to move that muscle around. Anything from basic functions like breathing, digestion, and your heart beating, to walking around and carrying the laundry up the stairs, or more deliberate exercise like running or pushing serious weight in the gym-your body needs energy, and if you're doing all these tasks with more lean muscle, you need more fuel. Before you go running to the fridge, let's look at the other end of the spectrum. When we eat more calories than our body uses, all those extra calories are stored as fat. This is the reason why many people who gorge to get strong, never actually become lean and shredded. They may indeed get stronger, but getting lean means cutting out extra calories. There are still other factors to consider, like poor food quality, lack of nutrient timing, and improper ratios of macronutrients. All calories are, of course, not created equal. We want to fuel our body with the best building blocks, at the right time to power our workout, improve our performance, grow more muscle, and get rid of extra body fat.

7-Day Incredible Meal Plan for Complete Health

Julia H,Sun  著
2022/11/02 出版

Food is the best solution for health and cures more illnesses than medicine.Different foods provide different healing properties to meet the body's needs for its normal functions.Yet, many, if not all, recipe books in the western countries concentrate on the taste of their dishes, weight, toxic, acid, or other symptom control, the narrow thinking of nutrition, or cost savings that compromise the quality of food. They may help you to strengthen one organ or body part but create imbalance among organs and body parts, causing health problems in other parts of the body.Unlike other publications, this recipe book uses food as the best medicine and considers specific food requirements forthe whole body as an energy system.each major organ.balancing the organs and body parts."Never saw a book with recipes that explain the functions and effects of each food and each dish on the body and organs. I encourage all to read it no matter your age."It is the first book of its kind to focus on complete health from the self-healing expert, researcher, and energy healer, who has created the first and only self health/healing system: the Total Life Energy Plan. This book features over 30 nourishing recipes that ingeniously incorporates food ingredients as medicine to eat for healing every day. It also brings the basic principles of the universe and the fundamentals of Traditional Chinese Medicine to the flavors on your plate and the energies in your body. At the end of each day's meals, author also incorporates famous sayings on food, health, and healing. This soothing, practical 7-day meal plan is perfect for those looking to eat for healing, nourishment, and joy.

Straddling the Razor Wire Ii

Straddling the Barbed Wire, and then one day during a really heavy racial tension project decided it was more like straddling electrified razor wire to be multi racial.........multi-cultural, multi-modality educated, seeing men AND women, NOT fights, seeing FAMILIES, not generational disputes. Seeing starvation, war, genocide, rather than what we, as humans could do on this earth each day, to help others, to maintain and restore nature, to create a better world for the next seven generations and pass that duty on.

Secret of Eating Right

Ingram 出版
2022/10/12 出版

A healthy diet includes a lot of natural foods. A sizeable portion of a healthy diet should consist of fruits and vegetables, especially ones that are red, orange, or dark green. Whole grains, such as whole wheat and brown rice, should also play a part in your diet. For adults, dairy products should be non-fat or low-fat. Protein can consist of lean meat and poultry, seafood, eggs, beans, legumes, and soy products such as tofu, as well as unsalted seeds and nuts. Good nutrition also involves avoiding certain kinds of foods. Sodium is used heavily in processed foods and is dangerous for people with high blood pressure. The USDA advises adults to consume less than 300 milligrams (mg) per day of cholesterol (found in meat and full-fat dairy products among others). Fried food, solid fats, and trans fats found in margarine and processed foods can be harmful to heart health. Refined grains (white flour, white rice) and refined sugar (table sugar, high fructose corn syrup) are also bad for long-term health, especially in people with diabetes. There are many free guidelines available for healthy eating plans that give more details on portion size, total calorie consumption, what to eat more of, and what to eat less of to get healthy and stay that way.

Behind The One-Way Mirror

2022/09/23 出版

AUTHOR'S FOREWORD Time, precious time, changes everything including our perspective. Looking back, when I was 9 or 10 years old, I thought my grandmother was really old. Today, I'm 20 years older than she was at that time in my life ... and I don't feel as old right now as I thought her to be then. In our young days we don't think about death, and we understand its full impact on life even less. Now as I have entered what I think of as the last chapters of my life, I think about death and dying often. Some days I really think on it and feel it must be closing in on me. Other days it seems like it is not closing in, but just somewhere out there around the bend waiting patiently to come and collect me for the final journey home. As I have aged, I find myself thinking on the past more and more, and I miss those dear ones that are no longer in my life more and more with each passing day. So many times I feel them near even though they are long gone from this earthly plane. In my poem "The Gap Between Pulse Beats" I describe what I think death is like. I have sectioned this book into 4 parts: Section 1 is "Those gone Before" which reflects on the feelings we have when we lose a love one or even just a casual friend; Section 2 is "Aging" which pinpoints the myriad of changes and emotions we feel as the end of life begins to close in on us; Section 3 is "Transitioning" which addresses the area in life when we seem to be here and yet not here at times which is life's way of preparing us for the next journey when we depart this life; and the 4th and last section is "The End?" which goes through the motions and emotions that bring us to the realization death is just the primer for the spirit to grow and move on to the next realm of existence. My hope is that this collection of poetry will soothe the aching heart for those that grieve and will calm the fears one may have about death being the end of everything. The finality of all. It is not the final destruction of our being. It is just a transitioning of flesh to spirit. We are not simply flesh and blood. We are souls inhabiting a body and death is just the burning off of the body from the soul; the separation of spirit from flesh. When we reach "the end" as we think of it on this earthly plane, we will realize that we are still the essence of ourselves and time is only an illusion and does not exist in the reality of the all. So, rest easy, death is not the final frontier ... it is simply the doorway to the wonderful world of spirit. A reunion with "Those Gone Before" where this is no "Aging" and we "Transition" to "The End?". Notice the question mark "The End?" No, the question mark is not a mistake. It is purposely placed there to drive home the fact that death is not the end. It is just the beginning! Candice James, Poet Laureate Emerita, City of New Westminster, BC CANADA

Hagitude

New World 出版
2022/09/21 出版

RADICALLY REIMAGINE THE SECOND HALF OF LIFE "There can be a certain perverse pleasure, as well as a sense of rightness and beauty, in insisting on flowering just when the world expects you to become quiet and diminish." -- from the book For any woman over fifty who has ever asked "What now? Who do I want to be?" comes a life-changing book showing how your next phase of life may be your most dynamic yet. As mythologist and psychologist Sharon Blackie describes it, midlife is the threshold to decades of opportunity and profound transformation, a time to learn, flourish, and claim the desires and identities that are often limited during earlier life stages. This is a time for gaining new perspectives, challenging and evolving belief systems, exploring callings, uncovering meaning, and ultimately finding healing for accumulated wounds. Western folklore and mythology are rife with brilliantly creative, fulfilled, feisty, and furious role models for aging women, despite our culture's focus on youthfulness. Blackie explores these archetypes in Hagitude, presenting them in a way sure to appeal to contemporary women. Drawing inspiration from these examples as well as modern mentors, you can reclaim midlife as a liberating, alchemical moment rich with possibility and your elder years as a path to feminine power.

The Incredible Low-Fat Cookbook

Wally Smith  著
Wally Smith 出版
2022/08/26 出版

A low-fat diet is one that restricts fat, and often saturated fat and cholesterol as well. Low-fat diets are intended to reduce the occurrence of conditions such as heart disease and obesity. For weight loss, they perform similarly to a low-carbohydrate diet, since macronutrient composition does not determine weight loss success. Fat provides nine calories per gram while carbohydrates and protein each provide four calories per gram. The Institute of Medicine recommends limiting fat intake to 35% of total calories to control saturated fat intake.Although fat is an essential part of a person's diet, there are "good fats" and "bad fats." Knowing the difference can help a person make informed choices about their meals. If you're following a healthy, balanced diet, restricting your fat intake is generally unnecessary. However, under certain circumstances, limiting the fat in your diet may be beneficial. For example, low-fat diets are recommended if you're recovering from gallbladder surgery or have gallbladder or pancreas disease.Low-fat diets may also prevent heartburn, cut weight and improve cholesterol.
