At first, an overview of the current Cryptocurrency market is given before the current financial system is explained, in order to understand the different nature of Cryptocurrencies. This is followed by the analysis of regulations of virtual coins in the United States, Europe, and China. Moreover, four main potentials of Cryptocurrencies will be examined before general risks will be explained. To end, a conclusion and an outlook of the Cryptocurrency environment is given. Cryptocurrencies are a phenomenon which has recently conquered the financial market. While Digitization processes are continuously disrupting the sector, Cryptocurrencies are the latest evolvement. During their presence of the last ten years, they remained generally uncontrolled and unregulated by financial authorities. They do not have any company or government issuing them and rather serve as an independent, peer-to-peer medium of exchange. They are virtual tokens which are stored and distributed on a so-called Distributed Ledger, the Blockchain, on which every participant of the network obtains the latest version in an encrypted format. The market of Cryptocurrencies has witnessed high fluctuations and the appearance of new currencies, reaching its ultimate peak at the beginning of 2018. Since traditional measures do not work and these coins, since they are privately created and do not have an underlying asset, it is hard for financial authorities to regulate or even predict the movement of Cryptocurrencies. However, various potentials exist, which may change the financial system by the regulated implementation and acceptance of virtual coins.

The Quest for a Divided Welfare State

Agriculture and Korean Economic History
This book is an economic history of the Chosŏn dynasty (1392-1910). The Chosŏn dynasty is not only known for managing the northeastern regions of Asia for 500 years as the exemplars of Confucianism, their kingdom was also one of the greatest so-called "agricultural states under Heaven." A Behavioural Theory of Economic Development
Innovation, entrepreneurship, knowledge, and human capital are widely acknowledged as key levers of development. Yet what are the sources of these factors, and why do they differ in their endowment across regions? Motivated by a belief that theories of economic development can move beyond the generally accepted explanations of location and the organization of industries and capital, this book establishes a behavioural theory of economic development illustrating that differences in human behaviour across cities and regions are a significant deep-rooted cause of uneven development. Fusing a range of concepts relating to culture, psychology, human agency, institutions, and power, it proposes that the long-term differentials in economic development between cities and regions, both within and across nations, is strongly connected to the underlying forms of behaviour enacted by humans on an individual and collective basis. Given a world of finite and limited resources, coupled with a rapidly growing population -- especially in cities and urban regions -- human behaviour, and the expectations and preferences upon which it is based, are central to understanding how notions of development may change in coming years. The ASEAN market is widely regarded as a new hub of growth, not least in light of increasing protectionism and declining economic growth of the three largest countries in Northeast Asia (China, Japan, and South Korea). Recent decades have seen many economic history books and articles published about working men and women, small and big entrepreneurs, guilds and state manufactures, farmers and journeymen, and children and citizens. Studies have been conducted both at a macro and a micro level, at a global and at a local scale and with regional and national approaches aimed at analysing cultural, social and economic phenomena associated with the world of work. Yet, there is still new ground to be covered. This book aims to fill a gap in early modern history by presenting new insights in the study of global labour history. It considers the whole Italian peninsula as one geographical unit of analysis, encompassing all of the features that characterize labour cultures during the early modern period. It details the evolution of forms of labour in both agriculture and manufacture and the role of labour as an economic, social and cultural factor in the evolution of the Italian area.

This is critical since undervalued lives are left less-protected and more exposed to risk. Howard Steven Friedman explains in simple terms how economists and data scientists at corporations, regulatory agencies, and insurance companies develop and use these price tags and points a spotlight at their logical flaws and limitations. Linking Conservation and Tourism. Potential and Fundamental Principles
Seminar paper from the year 2010 in the subject Economy - Environment economics, grade: 1,3, language: English, abstract: There has been considerable debate whether the potential benefits of nature-based tourism can outweigh its much dreaded impacts on the ecological integrity of its natural venues. This paper argues that, under the currently prevailing socio-cultural conditions, nature-based tourism is an imperative feature of most areas of high conservation value, as it provides raison d'礙tre and funding. Fancied to be of even exceeding importance is its function as a communication platform reaching a broad audience. Best practice for effective interpretation has been repeatedly shown to result in reduced impacts on the spot, smothering claims for empirical substantiation of the intuitive notion, that visitors, aware of the consequences of their behaviours will adjust those accordingly. Wildlife tourism is spearheading this educationally based "soft" management approach, seemingly prising out the opposed to the "hard" physical and regulatory strategies, for a set of summarized characteristics predestining it. Meanwhile sliding almost to oblivion, is the immense potential of interpretation to effectively spread environmental awareness and prudent behaviour beyond the scope of natural sightseeing in time and space. In its conclusion this paper tries to highlight some of the fundamental principles as well as main messages, interpreters should employ, to encourage especially long-term sustainable behaviour in visitors.

Welfare Theory, Public Action, and Ethical Values

Buying Into Change
Buying into Change examines how the development of a mass consumer society under the dictatorship of General Francisco Franco (1939-1975) inserted Spain into transnational consumer networks and set the stage for Spain's transition to democracy during the late 1970s. This transition is broadly significant to both a Spanish public still struggling to redefine their society after Franco and to scholars who have long debated the origins of Spain's current democracy, yet many aspects of it remain largely unexamined. Buying into Change incorporates mass consumption into our understanding of Spain's democratic transition by tracing the spread and social impact of new foreign-influenced department stores, of imported innovations such as modern mass advertising, and of consumer magazines that promoted foreign products. Initially, these enterprises backed Franco's conservative policies, and the regime in turn encouraged consumption in order to improve its image both domestically and abroad. Spain's new globally oriented commerce ultimately sold retailers and shoppers not just foreign ways of buying and selling but also subversive ideas. Imported 1960s fashions brought along countercultural notions on issues such as gender equality. And as Spaniards consumed more like their foreign neighbors, they increasingly viewed themselves as cosmopolitan and European and identified with liberal political conditions abroad, undermining Francoism's doctrine of national exceptionalism, thus laying the social foundations for democratization and European integration in Franco's wake. Plastics Society. Has Plastic the Potential to be Sustainable?

Therefore, the material plastic and its key features are introduced initially, with a special reference to plastic carrier bags that offer consumers primarily convenience. In addition, a general overview of the prospering plastic industry is given. The paper aims to answer the question of whether the development of plastics can be described as sustainable at present - or whether it is supposed to become sustainable in the near future. Hence, the European waste hierarchy will be examined precisely, which reveals current processing of plastic waste. Afterwards, ecological and social externalities, as well as related market failures are outlined. While opting for solutions, variations of market instruments are applied to plastic carrier bags that serve as a potent example. In contrast to the classical theory that targets on the reduction of plastic waste itself, the Cradle-to-Cradle model takes a different approach. It promotes to rethink the design of plastic products in order to keep them in a continuous life cycle instead of focusing exclusively on the reduction of post-consumer plastic waste.
